Abstract

This experiment was conducted to investigate the efficacy of methyl groups donor of betaine to spare methionine based on performance and carcass in broiler chickens. In total, 100 day old broiler chickenss were used in this experiment. They were allocated to 4 dieaty treatmants in 5 replicates with 5 broilers each. The basal diet was deficient in methionine. The control diet was obtained from basal diet supplemented with methionine to meet the requirements 5 g/kg diet for starter period and 3.8 g/kg diet for finisher period. The rest 3 treatments were basal diet deficient in methionine supplemented with 1, 2 and 3 g betaine per kg diet. The variables that were observed included average daily gain and carcass characteristics. The data were than analyzed by analysis of variance of Completely Randomized Design and continued with Dunnet test. The result indicated that supplementation of 1 and 2 g betaine per kg diet deficient in methionine resulted the broiler performance which was not different with supplementation of methionine. Accordingly, carcass characteristics for broilers fed diet supplemented with methionine were not different with that supplemented with betaine, which indicated that betaine may reduce the methionine level in the broiler diet. It can be concluded that betaine spares metionine in broiler diets.

Abstract

Animal wastes present in the form of manure, urine, feed, hatchery by product, blood, feather, bone, horn, and rumen material. Unmanaged animal waste contributes to environment problems. Animal wastes consist of nitrogen, phosphate, pathogen and organic material. Over absorption of nitrogen affect to melkomoglobinemia, meanwhile eutrophication happened due to over phosphate on the water bodies. Pathogen cause infection and diseases, and furthermore less oxygen due to over organic material in water decreasing fish population. Applying feed enzyme may increase availability of nutrition, performance, and decrease pollution impact due to manure. Well-management of livestock take consideration of environmental aspects, such as awareness of environment risk, balancing nutrition content of the waste animal, waste management, neighbor awarness, understand and obeying the regulation, and consider to the physical factors and applying land evaluation for livestock-site selection. This article responds to the impact of livestock on the environment and discusses factors related to environmental friendly of livestock management.

Abstract

Penelitian bertujuan untuk mengetahui efektivitas betain sebagai donor gugus metil berdasarkan parameter berat badan dan karkas. Sebanyak 100 ekor day old chicken (DOC) ayam broiler digunakan dalam penelitian ini, yang dibagi secara acak ke dalam 4 perlakuan pakan dengan 5 ulangan. Masing-masing ulangan terdiri dari terdiri dari 5 ekor ayam broiler. Pakan basal disusun dalam kondisi rendah metionin. Pakan kontrol diperoleh dari pakan basal yang disuplementasi metionin sehingga mencukupi kebutuhan yaitu sebesar 5g/kg pada fase starter dan 3,8 g/kg pada fase finisher. Tiga pakan perlakuan lainnya adalah pakan basal yang disuplementasi betain sebesar 1, 2 dan 3 g/kg pakan. Data yang diamati adalah pertambahan berat badan dankarakteristik karkas. Data yang diperoleh dianalisis statistik menggunakan analisis variansi rancangan acak lengkap dan jika terdapat perbedaan yang nyata dilanjutkan dengan Uji Dunnet. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa suplementasi betain sebesar 1 g/kg dan 2 g/kg pakan defisien metionin dapat menghasilkan performan yang setara dengan pakan yang  disuplementasi  metionin.  Suplementasi  betain  pada  pakan  defisien  metionin  dapat menghasilkan karakteristik karkas yang setara dengan suplementasi metionin, yang berarti bahwa betain efektif dalam menghemat penggunaan metionin di dalam pakan ternak unggas. Dapat disimpulkan bahwa suplementasi betain sebesar 1 dan 2 g/kg pakan dapat menurunkan penggunaan metionindalampakanayam broiler.

Abstract

The objective of the study was to determine the effect of lysine supplementation in ration on carcass yield, abdominal fat and fat content of ten-week old male local duck meat. The study used 80 male local ducks aged two weeks (average weight 326.40±31.84 g). The experimental design used was Completely Randomized Design with four treatments, consisted of four replications with five male local ducks each. Rations consisted of pollard, yellow corn, soybean meal, palm oil, premix and lysine (in the form of L-Lysine HCl). The basal diet was supplemented with lysine at the amount of 0 (control), 0.05, 0.10 and 0.15%. The variables observed were the slaughter weight, abdominal fat percentage, carcass yield and fat content of the meat. The results showed that lysine supplementation in the diet of local duck ten-week old male decreased (P<0.01) abdominal fat but did not affect slaughter weight, carcass yield and fat content of meat. It can be concluded that lysine supplementation of 0.15 percent of the total ration can reduce abdominal fat percentage of ten-week old male local duck meat.

Abstract

The research aimed to determine the effect of shrimp waste on the quality of duck eggs. The research used 80 female ducks aged 21 weeks which were randomly distributed into four treatments consisted of four replicates of 5 ducks each. The ration consisted of yellow corn, rice bran, soybean meal, fish meal, premix, grit, vegetable oil and shrimp waste. The dietary treatments were formulated to contain 0 (control), 3, 6, and 9% shrimp waste. The experiment was performed for 3 periods of 28 days. Egg quality was assessed for 3 consecutive days on d 26,27 and 28 of every periods. The data were analysed using Analysis of Variance and continued with Duncan’s test for different results. Theuse of 9% shrimp waste in ration increased (P<0.05) score of yolk colour from 6.94 to 7.79, but did not affect other measured variables. It can be concluded that shrimp waste enhanced yolk colour of duck eggs.

Abstract

The objective of this research was to see the influence of betaine supplementation on some of blood lipid and protein parameters in laying quails. The research used four treatments based on completely randomized design. Each treatment was replicated five times with seventeen quails each.The treatments used 340 quails aged 4 weeks with average weigh 98.31±8.67 grams. The supplementation levels of betaine were 0 (control); 0.07; 0.14 and 0.21%. Twenty quails aged 14 weeks were taken from each replicate to determine blood lipid and protein. Data were analyzed by analysis of variance and if there was an effect of treatment, then it was analyzed by Duncan’s Multiple Range Test. The result showed that betaine supplementation at level 0.14% resulted higher level of low density lipoprotein compared with the other treatments. It could be concluded that betaine supplementation at 0.14% resulted higher concentration of low density lipoprotein than control.Key words: quail, betaine, blood lipid, blood protein

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to isolated, selected and characterized phytase bacteria derived from volcanic soil in the Guci, Tegal. Bacteria from the volcanic soil was isolated and selected on Luria Betany (LB) media containing 4% phytic acid. Selected colonies were optimized by physical character with determining the relative activity. Colonies of bacteria could be isolated from the volcanic soil, selected, and had the highest relative activity in colonies of TG3 and TG3-5. TG3-5 bacterial colonies producing phytate had the highest optimum value at a temperature of 55°C, pH 7, the incubation time of 90 minutes, the substrate concentration of 5% and a best metal cofactor on Zn2+ (10-4M). Volcanic soil in the Guci, Tegal containing phytase-producing bacteria with certain physical characteristics.A
