Abstract

Mangosteen (Garcinia mangostana L.) is one of the most promising tropical fruits for export. The major constraint toincrease fruit production of the spesies is the long juvenile period. Seedless, sweet and juicy variety of mangosteen had beenfound in Malinau. In vitro propagation technique offers possibility to produce sufficient number of seedlings any time. Thisresearch was aimed at obtaining the appropriate media formula to enhance shoot proliferation. This research consisted ofshoot induction and multiplication and shoot elongation. The materials were the fresh mangosteen seeds from the Malinaumangosteen trees. The explant used in the trial was seeds which were divided into four slices. The use of 8 to 16 mg BA L-1combined with 0.2 mg thidiazuron L-1 resulted in the best shoot induction of 52 shoot buds per explant at the 6th week afterplanting with the mean height of 0.3 cm. Upon subculturing in to the similar media, the number of shoot tends to increase.For multiplication, low concentration of BA (2 to 4 mg L-1) and thidiazuron 0.05 mg L-1 were applied to increase the numbersof shoots. The total shoot number obtained in the media with 0.05 thidiazuron without BA was 11.25 and in the media with 2mg BA L-1 + 0.05 mg thidiazuron L-1 was 8.7 shoot explant-1. The result showed that the best media for shoot elongation wasMS + 1 mg BA L-1 + 2 mg kinetin L-1. The length of the shoots were in the range of 0.5-0.8 cm.Keywords: BA, Garcinia mangostana, in vitro culture, shoot multiplication, thidiazuron

Abstract

Deforestation and fragmentation of mangrove forests in Indonesia are widespread that resulted in losing biodiversity including genetic variation. Rhizophora mucronata Lamk. is a common mangrove species in Secanggang, Langkat, North Sumatra and have been degrading due to anthropogenic disturbance. The aim of this study is to determine the genetic variation in natural population of R. mucronata in Secanggang, North Sumatra using isozyme markers. From five enzymes systems used namely aspartate aminotransferase (AAT), alcohol dehydrogenase (ADH), esterase (EST), malate dehydrogenase (MDH), and peroksidase (PER); eleven loci was found and five polymorphic loci were detected.The estimate value of genetic variation parameters i.e. observed and expected heterozygosity, average alel per loci, and average polymorphic (95% criteria) were 0.1386, 0.1724, 1.5455, and 45.45 % respectively.The low genetic variation of R. mucronata found in this study suggested that genetic variation may be influenced by anthropogenic activities such as illegal logging, conversion into shrimp pond and agricultural farm.Keywords: Anthropogenic, genetic variation, isozyme, mangrove, Rhizophora mucronata

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan mengetahui pengaruh pembelajaran IPA melalui pendekatan kontekstual menggunakansimulasi komputer dan model kerja, kemampuan berpikir kritis dan gaya belajar terhadap prestasi belajar.Penelitian ini merupakan penelitan kuasi eksperimen, dilaksanakan pada bulan Maret 2012 – Januari 2013.Populasi penelitian adalah siswa kelas VIII SMP Negeri 3 Magetan Tahun Pelajaran 2012/2013. Sampelpenelitian ada 4 kelas terbagi dua kelompok yang diambil dengan cara cluster random sampling. Kelas VIII Adan VIII H menggunakan media simulasi komputer dan kelas VIII B dan VIII C menggunakan media modelkerja. Data dikumpulkan dengan metode tes untuk kemampuan berpikir kritis dan prestasi belajar kognitif,angket untuk gaya belajar, prestasi afektif, prestasi psikomotor, dan lembar observasi untuk prestasi belajarafektif dan psikomotor. Hipotesis diuji menggunakan anava tiga jalan, uji lanjut Anava uji Scheffe’, desainfaktorial 2x2x2. Berdasarkan hasil analisis data disimpulkan: 1) pembelajaran IPA melalui pendekatankontekstual menggunakan media simulasi komputer dan model kerja berpengaruh terhadap prestasi belajarkognitif, afektif, dan psikomotor; 2) kemampuan berpikir kritis berpengaruh terhadap prestasi belajar kognitif,afektif, dan psikomotor; 3) gaya belajar berpengaruh terhadap prestasi belajar kognitif, afektif, dan psikomotor;4) tidak ada pengaruh yang signifikan dari interaksi antara media dan kemampuan berpikir kritis terhadapprestasi belajar kognitif, afektif, dan psikomotor; 5) ada pengaruh yang signifikan dari interaksi antara media dangaya belajar terhadap prestasi belajar kognitif, afektif, dan psikomotor; 6) tidak ada pengaruh yang signifikandari interaksi antara kemampuan berpikir kritis dengan gaya belajar terhadap prestasi belajar kognitif, afektif,dan psikomotor; 7) tidak ada pengaruh yang signifikan dari interaksi antara media, kemampuan berpikir kritis,dan gaya belajar terhadap prestasi belajar kognitif, afektif, dan psikomotor.Kata Kunci: simulasi komputer, model kerja, kemampuan berpikir kritis, gaya belajar, prestasi belajar.

Abstract

Propagation of mangosteen is challenging for many reasons, including limited seed set, slow rate of seedling growth, and difficulty with root formations. The objective of this research was to find the best combination of medium and plant growth regulator for in vitro growth and rooting of mangosteeen seed. Various types of explant (a whole seed; seed divided into 2, 3, and 4 cross sections; seed divided into 2, 3, and 4 longitudinal sections) were treated with five concentrations of benzyl amino purine (BAP; 0, 2.5, 5, 7.5, 10 mg/L) for shoot induction in ½ Nitrogen (N) Murashige and Skoog (MS) medium. The shoots were rooted on MS and woody plant medium (WPM) media with several combinations of indole butyric acid (IBA) and naphtalene acetic acid (NAA). Treatments for root induction were applied as follows: (i) low dose, given during induction of rooting, (ii) soaking the base of the shoots in medium treated with a high dose of auxin for 5 days, and then growing the shoots in MS ½ N with 1 mg/L NAA +  1 mg/L BAP medium. Our result show that BAP positively affected mangosteen bud growth. The best medium for mangosteen shoot regeneration was found to be  MS ½ N  + 5 mg/L BAP. This medium induced  the highest number of shoots from the seed explant cut into four cross sections. We found the best medium to induce in vitro rooting of mangosteen shoot was MS ½ N + 3 mg/L indole butiric acid (IBA) + 4 mg/L NAA medium. Some treatment negatively affected growth. Soaking the mangosteen shoot base in a medium with an overly high dose of auxin seemed to disrupt and inhibit growth of the mangosteen shoot.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menguji korelasi antara pengetahuan nutrisi dan status sosial ekonomi orangtua dengan kebiasan makan anak. Penelitian ini dilakukan di TK se-kecamatan Pulo Gadung pada tahun 2012 melibatkan seratus orangtua anak TK. Responden diambil secara acak. Data dianalisis melalui teknik korelasi dan regresi linear. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan ada korelasi yang signifikan antara dua masalah dengan kebiasaan makan anak usia dini. Pertama, ada korelasi positif antara pengetahuan orangtua tentang nutrisi dengan kebiasaan makan anak TK. Kedua, ada korelasi positif antara status sosial ekonomi orangtua dengan kebiasaan makan anak TK. Ketiga, ada korelasi positif antara pengetahuan nutrisi dengan nutrisi dan status sosial ekonomi orangtua secara bersama dengan kebiasaan makan anak usia TK.

Abstract

The research or barangan banana (Musa acuminata L.) shoot induction by application of NAA and BAP based on the source of explans basal that had been carried out in the system Culture Laboratory of the University of North Sumatra. This study aims to discover the source of explants forming shoots by application of NAA and BAP and the number of shoots formed by the application of NAA and BAP based sources of banana explants. The study uses a completely randomized design with two factorial, i.e. the concentration factor NAA (0 mg/l, 1.5 mg/l, 2.0 mg/l, 2.5 mg/l, and 3.0 mg/l) and concentration factor BAP (0 mg/l, 4 mg/l, 5 mg/l, 6 mg/l, and 7 mg/l) with the source explants apical and basal parts. The best position that created the shoots explants contained in explant basal part by the number of shoot formed is 83. In the treatment of 1.5 mg/l NAA and 5 mg/l BAP average number of shoots most 3,75 and 2,30 cm tall shoots, the formation of the shoots is in the 80th day. The application of NAA and BAP on basal explants have a significant influence on the formation of the shoots.   Key words: Musa acuminata L., NAA, BAP,explants basal, shoot.

Abstract

The research on induction of banana barangan shoot (Musa acuminata L.) from North Nias through tissue culture by giving 2,4-D and kinetin was conducted in the Laboratory of Tissue Culture  University of North Sumatera from May until October 2014. The main objective of this research was to know the explants of banana weevil in apical and basal position with growth regulator 2,4-D with kinetin which are able to induce shoots from callus initials. On this research, the treatment tested for induction of shoots was growth regulators 2,4-D in the concentration 0 mg/L, 1 mg/L, 1,5 mg/L, 2 mg/L and 2,5 mg/L with growth regulators kinetin in the concentration 0 mg/L, 5 mg/L, 6 mg/L, 7 mg/L and 8 mg/L. The research was designed using Completely Randomized Design (CRD) two factorial with repetition of experiment. The results of research showed that the interaction between concentration of 2,5 mg/L 2,4-D with 5 mg/L kinetin was fastest (79 days) forming the shoot derived from explant basal part. The concentration of 2,5 mg/L 2,4-D with 5 mg/L kinetin produced the average number of shoots formed for 3.00 and average number of highest shoots for 1.50 cm. Abstract

The writer discusses the intrinsic element in poetry of Emily Dickinson entitled “Because I Could Not Stop For Death”. The purpose of this study is to understand the intrinsic elements on the poem. The methods used were library research. By using the method of library research the writer collected some information and documents that support the process of analysis. The result of the study shows what kind of intrinsic elements is used in the poetry to deliver the message.

Abstract

Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk memperoleh gambaran objektif tentang peningkatan hasil belajar Bahasa Indonesia materi surat resmi dengan metode inquiry pada siswa. Penelitian menggunakan metode penelitian tindakan kelas. Subjek dalam penelitian ini adalah siswa Kelas VI SDN 1 Tamanan Trenggalek Pelajaran 2013/2014. Hasil Penelitian menunjukkan Peningkatan dari hasil pretes nilai rata-rata prestasi 57,46. Evaluasi siklus I diperoleh  nilai  rata-rata  69,74 (47,37%) mencapai ketuntasan. Pada siklus II nilai rata-rata yang diperoleh 82,89 (89,47%) mencapai ketuntasan meningkat 42,11% dari siklus sebelumnya.
