Abstract

The objective of this study was to determine the mercury content in sediment in the waters of Aceh Jaya coastal. The research was carried out in the Estuary of Krueng Sabee, Panga, and Teunom River on October 2015. Samples were analyzed using the Atomic Absorption Spectrophotometer (AAS) at the Laboratory of Chemistry, Mathematics and Natural Sciences Faculty, Syiah Kuala University. It was found that the Hg content in sediment of Krueng Sabee, Panga, and Teunom were 0.76, 0.68, and 1.03 mg/kg, respectively. Hg metal content in the sediment at all stations remained below the threshold. Despite,  the correlation between Hg content and sediment size in this study was weak, but there was a tendency the finer sediment size the higher Hg content found in sediment. However, heavy metal from water was easier to be deposed and embedded in fine sediment.Tujuan dilakukannya penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui sebaran logam berat merkuri (Hg) yang terkandung pada substrat dasar di beberapa muara sungai Kabupaten Aceh Jaya. Pengambilan data dilakukan pada Bulan Oktober 2015 di Krueng Sabee, Krueng Panga, dan Krueng Teunom. Sampel substrat diambil berdasarkan metode coring menggunakan pipa paralon, Atomic Absorption Spectrophotometer (AAS) atau Spektrofotometer Serapan Atom digunakan untuk mendapatkan data kandungan logam berat Hg pada substrat, sementara metode ayak basah digunakan untuk mendapatkan data ukuran butiran. Kandungan merkuri (Hg) dalam substrat Krueng Sabee, Krueng Panga, dan Krueng Teunom masing-masing adalah 0,76; 0,68 dan 1,03 mg/kg. Terlihat kecenderungan substrat dengan butiran yang halus mengandung kadar merkuri yang lebih tinggi, dimana sifat merkuri yang mudah berikatan dengan zat organik mempermudah pengendapan pada bentuk butiran yang halus.

Abstract

Abstract. The objective of the present study was to evaluate the distribution of sediments in the estuary of Kuala Gigieng. The study was done on Mei to June 2011 and the sampling was conducted in three areas of estuary i.e. downestuarine, middle-estuarine and river section of Kuala Gigieng. The wet sieving analysis method was used in this study. The data was then weighed and the percentage was calculated and classified based on the Wentworth scale. The results showed that (1) the mean grain size of sediment of each area was 0.50 mm, 0.65 mm and 0.56 mm and the characteristically, the sediment distribution was consisted of medium sand 63.42%, fine sand 23.40%, coarse sand 5.59%, very fine sand-mud 4.13% and pebble 0.17%. The currents speed were 0.25 m/s, 0.23 m/s and 0.19 m/s. The current speed has influenced the sediment distribution where small grains were mostly found at higher current speed. Key words. Abstract

The study aimed to determine the suitability of fishponds in Pidie Jaya, the research was done using GIS spatial analysis method, where the water parameter samples were collected from 20 sampling points, the samples were taken within the river or flow water beside the fishpond. There were 5 parameters measured included salinity, pH, dissolved oxygen, water visibility, and nitrate contents. The analysis was done using kriging interpolation, reclassification, and overlay analysis using weighted overlay. Analysis based on 4 suitability criteria, very suitable, suitable, less suitable, and not suitable. The results of this analysis are that the fishponds fall into very suitable and suitable criteria. Of the total of ±1842 Ha fishponds, 2.37% covering ±43.76 Ha is classified as very suitable, and 97.63% covering ±1798.23 Ha classified as suitable. Results show that Pidie Jaya is good choice for low cost aquaculture ponds with a little treatment for nitrates. Key words: Pidie Jaya; fishpond; GIS; suitability analysis; weighted overlay.  Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui kesesuaian lahan tambak berdasarkan kualitas perairan di pesisir Kabupaten Pidie Jaya. Penelitian ini dilaksanakan dengan menggunakan metode analisis spasial Sistem Informasi Geografis (SIG), sampel parameter perairan dikumpulkan dari 20 titik sampling pada saluran tambak. Parameter perairan yang diukur meliputi 5 parameter kunci yang sangat berpengaruh terhadap komoditas tambak, meliputi salinitas, pH, oksigen terlarut, kecerahan air dan kandungan nitrat. Langkah analisis dilakukan menggunakan ordinary kriging, reclassify, dan weighted overlay. Tingkat kesesuaian lahan dibagi kedalam 4 kelas, yaitu sangat sesuai, sesuai, kurang sesuai, dan tidak sesuai. Didapatkan 2 tingkat kesesuaian yaitu kelas sangat sesuai sebesar 2.37% (±43.76 Ha) dan kelas sesuai sebesar 97.63% (±1798.23 Ha) dari total keseluruhan luas tambak seluas ±1842 ha. Hasil tersebut menunjukkan bahwa tambak di Kabupaten Pidie Jaya sesuai untuk usaha pertambakan dengan sedikit perlakuan terhadap nitrat. Abstract

Abstract. The objective of this research was to determine the characteristics and mineral content of coastal sand from  Lhokmee, Beureunut, and Leungah Aceh Besar District. The sand analysis was conducted at Material Laboratory of Mathematics and Natural Sciences Faculty, Syiah Kuala University from March to April, 2014. Samples were collected using purpossive sampling method. The observed physical characteristics of this research were sand color, shape and particle size. The mineral content was analysed using X-Ray Diffraction (XRD) and Joint Committee for Powder Diffraction Standard (JCPDS) program. The result showed that Lhok Mee coastal sand was physically characterized as white, sub-angular rounded shape and 0.21 mm of size, while Beureunut coastal sand was light brown, rounded-well rounded shape and 0.19 mm of size, then Leungah coastal sand was black, angular-well rounded shape and 0.13 mm of size. Based on  mineral content showed that Lhok Mee, Beureunut, and Leungah coastal sand were dominated by SiO3, SO3 and Fe3O4, respectively. All identified minerals at all stations were classified as volcanic minerals of lithogenous sediment. Keywords: Beach sands; Color difference; Mineral content; Shape; Particle size.

Abstract

Abstract. Groupers are of considerable economic value in southeast Asia.  Cage culture is considered as the proper technology to maximize the sustainable biomass production in a unit area. This research assesses a site selection approach for net-cage grouper mariculture in the eastern coastal area of Simeulue Island, namely Sambai, Kuta Batu and Pulau Bengkalak. Data collection focused on 7 biophysical site capability parameters i.e.: current flow, temperature, water clarity, bottom depth, pH, salinity, dissolved oxygen. Suitability analysis identified all stations was categorized as a very appropriate and appropriate conditions for the fish cage location.Keywords: grouper; mariculture; fish cage; SimeulueAbstrak. Kerapu merupakan komoditas unggulan dan memiliki permintaan pasar yang tinggi di daerah Asia Tenggara. Keramba jaring apung (KJA) dianggap sebagai teknologi yang tepat untuk meningkatkan biomassa budidaya di suatu wilayah. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengkaji kesesuaian lokasi penempatan KJA di wilayah pesisir timur Pulau Simeulue yaitu Sambai, Kuta Batu dan Pulau Bengkalak. Kajian data difokuskan pada tujuh parameter biofisik yaitu arus, suhu, kecerahan, kedalaman perairan, pH, salinitas, dan oksigen terlarut. Analisis kelayakan menunjukkan seluruh stasiun dikategorikan sebagai layak dan sangat layak untuk lokasi budidaya KJA.Kata kunci: Kerapu; marikultur;  KJA; Simeulue

Abstract

Study on sediment characteristics and mineral content at Muara Pulau Kayu (MPK) of Southwest Aceh District was conducted to find a general description of grain size and mineral content regarding to hydro-oceanographic process. Sampling was collected at MPK, Southwest Aceh District during March 2016. Purposive sampling method was used to determine 4 sampling sites covering estuary and beach area. Grain size and mineral content were analyzed with a set of sieves and X-Ray Fluorescence (XRF with standard reference mineral). Observation on the grain roundness and sphericity showed that sediment grains are generally more rounded at beach area. Mineral content at MPK are dominated by Si, Fe, K, Ca and Ti that are categorized into volcanic mineral which conclude that sediment at MPK originated from Mount Leuser which was an active volcano in the past.

Abstract

Study of sediment distribution at Kuala Gigieng was to assess the information of sediment related to the occurrence of hydro-oceanographic processes. The sediment samples were collected from nine stations using coring method. Granulometric method was used to analyze the grain size distributions. The results showed different sediment distribution patterns in each area at estuary Kuala Gigieng. The outer area of estuary indicated skewed to coarse grains, while at the inner area of estuary indicated skewed to fine grains. Different sediment load transport process was suggested as the cause of differentiated sediment characters.   Keywords: granulometry, grain size, sediment statistic, Kuala Gigieng

Abstract

Penelitian Keanekaragman Gastropoda dan Bivalvia Berdasarkan Karakteristik Sedimen  Daerah  Intertidal  di  Pantai  Ujung  Pancu  Kecamatan  Peukan  Bada Kabupaten Aceh Besar ini dilakukan pada bulan Januari 2016. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah   untuk   mengetahui   keanekaragaman   berdasarkan   karakteristik   sedimen. Metode yang digunakan adalah metode Purposive sampling. Pengambilan sampel dilakukan pada saat surut terendah. Stasiun terdiri dari 5  stasiun, dimana setiap stasiun diletakkan plot berukuran 5 x 5 m dan diletakkan transek kuadrat berukuran 1 x 1 m didalamnya  dengan jarak sampling 30 m. Analisis data menggunakan rumus keanekaragaman dan Mean grain size. Hasil penelitian ditemukan 19 total spesies yang terdiri dari 12 spesies kelas Gastropoda dan 7 spesies kelas Bivalvia. Keanekaragaman berkisar antara 3,652-3,984. Dan ukuran butiran berkisar antara 0,294-0,403. Kesimpulannya adalah (1) Keanekaragamannya tinggi (2) Ukuran butirannya pasir halus.  Kata Kunci : Ujong Pancu, Keanekaragaman, Sedimen,  Gastropoda, Bivalvia Study  about  diversity  of  Gastropods  and  Bivalves  based  on  characteristics  of sediment in intertidal area in Ujung Pancu Beach Peukan Bada subdistrict Aceh Besar  district  was  conducted  on  January  2016.  The  aim  of  this  study  was  to determine the diversity based on characteristics of sediment. The methode used was purposive sampling method. Sampling were conducted while the water had low recede. Station consisted of 5 stations where each station placed plot 5 x 5 m and placed 1 x 1 m2 of square transects in it with 30 m sampling space. Data analyzed by diversity formula and mean grain size. The result showed that 19 species were found which consisted of 12 species of Gastropods and 7 species of Bivalves. Diversity ranged between 3,652 to 3,984. Abstract

The objective of the present study was to determine the diversity of phytoplankton and itsrelationship with physical-chemical water parameters of Gampong Pulot Lagoon, Leupungsubdistrict, Aceh Besar. The collecting of phytoplankton and water quality were conducted inDecember 2014. According to field assessment, there were six stations to represent the study site.We recorded 25 species of phytoplankton from class Bacillariophyceae, Dinophyceae andCyanophyceae. The abundance of Bacillariophyceae was 1202.02 ind / L classified as moderate,while Dinophyceae and Cyanophyceae were 621.13 ind / L and 208.49 ind / L, respectively,classified as low abundance. Bacillariophyceae was dominated by Rhizosolenia sp. with 26% ofcomposition. The diversity index has varied from 1,88 to 2,63 indicated as moderate value.  Basedon Principal Component Analysis (PCA) showed that the physical-chemical water parameters relatedto the abundance of phytoplankton in Gampong Pulot Lagoon.Keywords: phytoplankton, lagoon, diversity, leupung

Abstract

Abstrak. Tujuan dari penelitian ini untuk mengetahui distribusi sedimen dan penyebaran sedimen di Perairan Pantai Anoi Itam Sabang. Sampel sedimen permukaan diambil pada Bulan April 2017 dari sepuluh stasiun yang tersebar di sepanjang daerah intertidal. Tubecore berdiameter 2,5 inch diaplikasikan untuk mengambil sedimen hingga ketebalan 20 cm dari permukaan. Semua sampel dianalisis menggunakan saringan bertingkat dengan menggunakan metode ayak basah. Persentase kehadiran yang tinggi banyak dijumpai pada ayakan berukuran 1φ atau fraksi pasir kasar, sejalan juga dengan hasil analisis rataan ukuran butiran menunjukkan kisaran pada rentang pasir kasar, hanya stasiun 6 yang rataannya berada pada rentang pasir kasar (coarse sand). Tipe sedimen yang dijumpai adalah pasir sedikit berkerikil (Slightly Gravelly Sand) dan pasir berkerikil (Gravelly Sand).Kata Kunci: Pantai Anoi Itam, Sedimen, Distribusi Sedimen
