Abstract

To increase the production of simplicia, has been designed and fabricated rhizome cutting tools with 5 parallel blades. Based on testing, there were still weaknesses known in the knife-blade thus inhibiting the cutting process. At the beginning of the research showed that the bottleneck caused by the cutting blade is too thick to be a narrow gap between the blade and the friction becomes large rhizome pieces. Thinning of the blade is not necessarily done because it will weaken the blades. This research aims to provide design solutions that is able to overcome a problem of the blade is. To obtain a solution to the existing contradiction problems, TRIZ method was used. The first step taken is identification the problem include the study of literature and direct observations of turmeric rhizome cutting tools. Then followed by determining technical requirements of design, resolve problems that occur contradiction, the last is preparation of design concept and the determination of the design specifications. The results of this research is produce design concept and resolve most issues contradictions mainly on cutting blades. By using TRIZ method, the design of cutting blades not occurring deflection, because the shape of blade was thin and there was additional features that serve to regulate the tension of cutting blades.

Abstract

Production of wood in Indonesia is no longer able to meet their need, which is opening an opportunity for study in material alternatives. Coconut fiber is very potential material for wood replacement composite, since its availability is abundant and its utilization is still low. Meanwhile, some factors have been studied as single affecting variable for natural fiber composite. The objective of this study is to evaluate the influence factors of alkali treatment, fiber length, fiber volume fraction and interaction between factors on the tensile strenght of coco-fiber polyester composite. 108 pieces of composites have been prepared as speciments of tensile test which comply ASTM D 638 standard. The testing result was processed using  completely randomized full  factorial experiment. The experiment showed significant difference for all three factors. The highest value of tensile strenght is 22.57 MPa for 2 hours alkali treatment, 10 mm fiber length and fiber volume fraction of 35%. This value has met the standard minimum tensile strength of hardboard according to ANSI A135.4 2004.

Abstract

Jamur tiram adalah jamur yang dapat dimakan, yang tidak hanya lezat dalam rasa tapi juga kaya akan nutrisi. Jamur Tiram merupakan komoditas utama di Sukoharjo. Permasalahannya adalah bagaimana menerapkan strategi bagi para pembudidaya untuk meningkatkan varietas produk jamur tiram. Salah satu upaya yang dilakukan adalah dengan mengeringkan dan mengolahnya menjadi tepung jamur tiram. Berkaitan dengan permasalahan tersebut, dilakukan perancangan dan penerapan alat pengering energi surya (solar dryer). Alat pengering energi surya yang diimplementasikan mampu mengeringkan 5-10 kg jamur tiram segar dalam waktu 50 -72 jam. Untuk memproses tepung jamur tiram, digunakan penggiling makanan (food grinder) yang telah terbukti efektif untuk industri skala kecil dan menengah (300 kg per bulan) dengan investasi yang rendah dan juga mudah digunakan. Untuk metode sosialisasi dan pelatihan pengeringan dan penepungan jamur tiram, disiapkan modul pelatihan dan video yang berisi Standar Prosedur Operasional (SOP) proses produkdi alat pengering surya, dan juga proses pengeringan serta penepungan jamur tiram.

Abstract

Oyster mushroom is one of the most popular mushroom consumption cultivated in Indonesia. The cultivation process of oyster mushrooms is relatively easy , and also marketable because it has the nutrients and good nutrition. Oyster mushrooms is perishable foodstuffs. A few days after harvesting, oyster mushrooms will be amended, color changes to brown, becoming soft texture, and appeared unpleasant aroma. To overcome this, it is necessary to oyster mushroom processing innovation into alternative food products that have high sales value and longer shelf life. One alternative diversification of processed fresh oyster mushrooms is powdery mildew . To cultivate oyster mushrooms into powdery mildew, in this study focus to design a dryer oyster mushrooms with solar energy ( Solar dryer) and applying the grinder. Drier and grinder oyster mushrooms  was tested in groups of oyster mushroom farmers in the Tambak village Boyolali . Solar drier, can drying fresh oyster mushrooms with a capacity of 10 kg within a period of 50-72 hours. Oyster mushrooms grinder can be used with a capacity of 120 grams with a flouring 180 seconds

Abstract

Karak is one of food products favored by many indonesians. Demands for this traditional meals is still high especially in the rainy season, so this food is good to be developed. In some karak cottage industries especially in urban areas, their production process has advanced, but they are still unable to fulfill high demand. In this research, Toyota Business Practices (TBP) is used to identify the root cause problem and propose improvement actions for the problem. Based on TBP’s results, the problem occurs in the cutting station where there are 900 pieces of karak which are too small or large and sloping. The root cause problem identified are the lack of a standard size for karak and equipment used is still a regular knife. Accordingly, the proposed corrective action are the creation of standards karak size and design of cutting tools to increase productivity and neatness in the cutting station.

Abstract

This research investigates the problem of electromagnetic noise on myoelectric device. This myoelectric device has a low pass filter response (Butterworth type) with cut-off frequency (fc) 6 Hz and passing 8 volt signal. The passed signal, then amplified by a differential amplifier for 150 times into 1,2 Volt (20% noise captured system). So we require an approach to electromagnetic shielding to reduce interference from the outside that enter into the device system. In this study utilizing an experimental design using full factorial experiment methods to determine the effect of the type of bahan, the frequency response, and the interaction to the performance of shielding. The experiment results showed that each element and their interactions, significantly affected the value of the shielding performance. Aluminium foil air cell bubble has the highest shielding performance with the average performance of shielding efficiency of 94,80887 %. This bahan used for shielding socket design proposal which based in the Wisconsin department of health service and American heart association standard.

Abstract

The experiment has a purpose to observe performance of indirect passive solar dryer, so that it can raise the effectivity of drying process without decreasing  the nutrition of  biopharmaca rhizome. This observation using a fresh turmeric rhizome as an experiment matter. Each process using 2 kg turmeric rhizome. Turmeric rhizome cut alongside  for about 3-5 mm. The design of this experiment using a factorial design with two influential factors which is can be control, that is the size of inlet hole and exhaust. Response of this experiment show by moisturising level  from turmeric rhizome. The measuring of moisturizing level  in each treatment are doing every 8 hours. The sample of turmeric rhizome are take for 3 sample.    The trial result show that the temperature of dryer equipment is reached for 53.5 celcius. Moreover, the rate air flow for about 1,02 m/s in inlet hole and 0,43 m/s in exhaust hole. There are significant difference  between  inlet and exhaust level, moreover there is an interaction between inlet and exhaust hole to decline moisturizing level of simplisia turmeric. The optimal setting of this dryer equipment can be obtain with some action of closing the inlet hole for about ¾ and exhaust hole for about 1/2 from its part. The position of the rack didn’t influence the rate of decrease water content.

Abstract

Design for Manufacturing and Assembly (DFMA) is a method to evaluate the design of productwith considering the ease of manufacture process and the assembly process. UNS LPPD Hand isprosthetic hand with the function and shape that has likely the original hand man. UNS LPPD Hand is developed by the Laboratory Planning and Product Design of Sebelas Maret University (Laboratorium P3 UNS). From the conceptual design of prosthetic finger by Cahyadin (2016), the prototype can't do the movement flexed according with the design objectives and there are some components that not required. Therefore, there are some components that must be modified or eliminated. The modified component is phalanx of media and eliminated components are short and long pin holder The result is improvement of design prosthetic finger that 2 components are fixed and 4 components are eliminated, and reducing the process from 99 steps to 79 steps

Abstract

Kualitas produksi dan performa perusahaan dapat ditingkatkan dengan mengurangi pemborosan yang ada di perusahaan. Dalam penelitian ini, metode yang digunakan adalahFMIC (Flow Material Information Chart) untuk menghitung kapasitas mesin, produktivitas operator dan TSK (Tabel Standar Kerja)untuk mengukur beban kerja operator. Hasil yang diperoleh dari penelitian ini adalah kapasitas mesin terbesar adalah mesin frying dengan jumlah 7935,75 kg. Nilai produktivitas operator tertinggi adalah operator proses frying dengan jumlah 881,75 kg/orang. Nilai cycle time semua operator selalu lebih kecil atau sama dengan nilai takt time mesin sehingga kerja operator masih termasuk ke dalam kategori kerja ringan. Nilai not value work yang didapat untuk tiap operator selalu lebih besar daripada nilai value work. Kesimpulan yang didapat dari penelitian ini adalah diperlukan upaya untuk mengurangi jumlah operator ataumenambah jumlah mesin packing. Selain itu perlu dibuat penutup untuk mesin molen di stasiun coating sehingga jumlah waste mentah dapat dikurangi

Abstract

An external fixator is a medical device which supports bone that requires correction due to bone deformity. The hexapod-based external fixator is an appropriate device for complex deformities correction because its ability to repair bone in three dimensions. There have been many commercial hexapod-based external fixator products with varied designs. So far, the success rate of the fixator is only seen from the final result of bone correction and frame specification in biomechanical testing. This study aims to determine the success rate of fixator from the overall performance and determine the level of importance between the criteria of performance. Determination of criteria and rating of importance were done with the Delphi-AHP approach. The results showed that there are four main criteria of fixator’s performance. The level of importance between criteria and determination of each criteria assessment is obtained. This research can be useful in further development of hexapod-based external fixator.
