Abstract

Abstrak : Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah merancang program pembelajaran IPA berbasis tematik inoovatif yang dapat meningkatkan kemampuan berpikir kritis. Perancangan program dimulai dengan analisis pengetahuan awal dan gaya belajar siswa, analisis kurikulum, pemetaan kompetensi dasar dan topik pelajaran IPA. Selain itu dirancang juga alat evaluasi berupa tes kemampuan berpikir kritis, lembar observasi, dan angket. Hasil pemetaan selanjutnya dibuat silabus, RPP, LKS, dan media pembelajaran. Sintaks dalam pembelajaran IPAterpadu berbasis tematik dan inovatif adalahObservation, Questioning, Exploration, Analysis, Confirmation, and Evaluation (OQEACE). Abstract

Masalah utama dalam penelitian ini adalah rendahnya hasil belajar siswa kelas Vc SD Negeri Pembina Tolitoli pada mata pelajaran IPA. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk meningkatkan hasil belajar siswa di kelas Vc SDN Pembina Tolitoli, terutama pada mata pelajaran IPA. Penelitian ini merupakan Penelitian Tindakan Kelas yang dilaksanakan dalam dua siklus dan setiap siklus terdiri dari empat tahap, yaitu : perencanaan, pelaksanaan tindakan, observasi dan refleksi. Jumlah siswa sebanyak 36 orang. Hasil Penelitian menunjukan bahwa hasil belajar siswa SD Negeri Pembina Tolitoli mengalami peningkatan dari siklus I dengan nilai rata-rata 66,1 dan ketuntasan belajar kalsikal siswa 55,6 %. Pada siklus II diperoleh nilai rata-rata klasikal 92,4 dan ketuntasan belajar klasikal 100 %. Dengan demikian dapat disimpulkan bahwa penerapan model pembelajaran koopratif dan edutainment dapat meningkatkan hasil belajar siswa kelas Vc  SD Negeri Pembina Tolitoli  pada pokok bahasan Fungsi Organ Pencernaan Manusia. Abstract

Moringa seed (moringa oleifera L.) is a kind foodstuffs that contains calcium. Calcium is a mineral that is needed by our bodies in all ages, for the infants to the elderly. Calcium is useful in the formation and maintenance of bones and teeth. The aim of this study is to determine the concentration calcium (Ca) in moringa seed (moringa oleifera L.) and its utilization as the fabrication of toothpaste. The method used in this study was a laboratory experiment using a flame photometer. The results showed that the concentration of calcium in moringa seeds with three repetitions was 131.67 ± 12.58 mg/100g. The appropriate composition of materials to make toothpaste from moringa seeds including the roughness tests of toothpaste and based on the fondness of panelists was 25:5 (morinanga seed:NaHCO3). Furthermore, the test of freshness, aroma, and colour with comparison of glycerin, mint leaves, betel leaves and food coloring 7.5: 5: 5: 2.

Abstract

Titration acid-base needs indicator  to show the change of color on interval of hydrogen exponent/degree of acid (pH). Indicator of synthetic which always be used have disadvantages like chemical pollution,  stock and expensive of pro- duction  cost. The research has been carried out to substitute the synthetic indicator with herbal indicator extracted from flower crown of Hibiscus rosa sinensis L extract. The herbal indicator was extracted from the flower crown Hibiscus rosa sinensis L using a mixture methanol-acetic acid. Then it was evaluated with phenolphthalein and methyl orange(E merck) comparer to titration the acid-base, they are strong acid-strong base, weak base-strong acid and weak acid-strong base. The result of research show that herbal indicator  of flower crown Hibiscus rosa sinensis L to show theequivalent point in all titrations give peer result with the comparison. With the research result hoped that indicatortitration acid-base flower crown Hibiscus rosa sinensis L is able to as replace synthetic indicator  (metyl orange andphenolphtalein) which always be used before.ABSTRAKTitrasi asam-basa memerlukan indikator untuk menunjukkan perubahan warna pada setiap interval derajad keasaman (pH). Indikator sintetis yang digunakan selama ini mempunyai beberapa kelemahan seperti polusi kimia, ketersediaan dan biaya produksi mahal. Upaya penelitian sudah dilakukan untuk menggantikan indikator sintetis dengan indikator dari ekstrak mahkota bunga sepatu. Indikator herbal tersebut dibuat dengan cara mengekstrak mahkota bunga Hibiscus rosa sinensis L dengan mengunakan pelarut metanol-asam asetat. Kemudian dievaluasi dengan indikator pembanding fenolftalein dan metil oranye (produksi E merck) untuk titrasi asam-basa yaitu asam kuat-basa kuat, basa lemah-asam kuat dan asam lemah-basa kuat. Dari hasil penelitian diketahui bahwa indikator dari mahkota bunga sepatu untuk menunjukkan titik ekivalen dalam titrasi tersebut memberikan hasil yang setara dengan indikator pembandingnya. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan, indikator dari mahkota bunga sepatu dapat sebagai pengganti indikator sintetis (metil oranye dan fenolftalein) yang selama ini digunakan.

Abstract

Wora-wari plants are easily cultivated and founded in Indonesia, also their bloomy is not seasonal. Isolation of anthocyanidin from Wora-wari was done by maceration using n-hexane, ethyl acetate and methanol-HCl 1.0% and isolation of anthocyanidin was performed by column chromatography. Identification for structure of anthocyanidin was done by UV-Vis spectrophotometer, FT-IR, 1H- and 13C-NMR along with color reagent. In the Wora-wari flowers, it has been identified the existence of anthocyanidin pelargonidin. The color change of anthocyanidin pelargonidin results in acid solution was red and base solution was green.Keywords: Wora-wari flower, anthocyanidin, acid-base indicator

Abstract

Cinnamon contains essential oils those can act as anti-fungal. This study aims to determine the inhibition of fungal growth of cinnamon extract against candida albicans. The study was conducted using a sample of cinnamon extract in some solvents those were distilled water, ethanol, and hexane, and the suspension of the fungus candida albicans which has been synchronized with the MC.Farland standard solution, and performed with pitting method. The results showed that the inhibition of cinnamon extract in hexane against candida albicans fungus was greater than in distilled water and ethanol. Hexane was the most dominant solvent to extract oil contained in cinnamon and some seeds, and also easy to evaporate and separate to produce more essential oils. Based on the observations the percentage of fungal inhibition of cinnamon extracts in distilled water, ethanol, and hexane solvents were, 3.19%, 0% and 100%, respectively.

Abstract

Moringa (moringa oleifera lamk) is a nutritious plant that can cure various diseases. Part of this plant such as leaves, roots, flowers, and fruits serve as a traditional medicine. The aim of this study is to determine the inhibitory of extract of moringa fruit on the growth of the fungus candida albicans. The extract of moringa fruit is made by using several solvents such as distilled water, ethanol and hexane. Suspension of the candida albicans obtained from Clinical Laboratory, Palu, Central Sulawesi. Suspension of the candida albicans is synchronized with Mc. Farland solution. The fungus test uses a pitting method. The results showed that inhibition of extract of moringa fruit on the growth of the fungus candida albicans with solvents of distilled water provides greater results as compared with ethanol and hexane. Based on the results of the observation, the percentage of inhibition of the extract of moringa fruit on the growth of the fungus candida albicans with various solvents are 100% for distilled water, 59.99% for ethanol and 6.97% for hexane. The result of phytochemical screening test showed that the moringa fruit contains alkaloids, flavonoids and steroids.

Abstract

Critical thinking skills should be trained and practiced in the learning process. This study aimed to describe the use of Innovative-Thematic Based Integrated Science (ITBIS) Learning Program to improve critical thinking skills of junior high school students in Palu. The study conducted in the 7th grade from one of Palu public schools and one of Palu private schools. Data were collected by observation sheet of learning performance and students activity, also test instrument for measuring students’ critical thinking skills. The data of learning performance and students activity were analyzed quantitatively, whereas the data of critical thinking skills were analyzed using descriptive and inferential statistics. The result showed that lTBIS learning can be done well either in public school and private school with average 98,03% and 90,20% respectively. ITBIS learning also improve students activity in the learning process. The average of critical thinking skills improvement (N-gain) was 68% (public school) and 63% (private school), and there were no significant differences between both of them. It showed that lTBIS learning can be used to build critical thinking skills of junior high school students.

Abstract

Study on the purification and quality test of used cooking oil with turmeric has been done. This study aims to determine the quality of cooking oil after purified turmeric. The quality parameters of oil studied were the moisture content, free fatty acids (FFA), and peroxide. The methods used for determination of these parameters were gravimetry for moisture content, acid-base titration for free fatty acids, and iodometric for peroxide. The test results for water from 0.6% to 0.4% free fatty acid from 1.2% to 0.2%, and peroxide levels before and after purification were successively from and 6 meq/g to 4 meq/g, respectively. Only free fatty acids of all three parameters met the requirement of SNI.

Abstract

The used and storage of cooking oil that has not been done properly can lead to exessive water content in the oil. Thus, this can degrade the quality of the oil and fried foods, and turn to interfere health. The aim of this study was to determine teh quality of used cooking oil after adsorbed by mengkudu or noni (morinda citrifolia L.) powder. The quality of the oil was determined based on the free fatty acids content, peroxide numbers, moisture and dirt content before and after adsorbased by using the titration method in determining the FFA content and peroxide number, while the water content and impurities levels were determined by using a closed oven method. The quality standard of good oil is based on the Indonesian National Standard (SNI), i.e. the maximum free fatty acid content of 0.3%, the maximum peroxide numbers of 2 meq.O2/kg, the maximum water contens of 0.3%, and the impurities level of 1.0%. The result indicated that the quality of used cooking oil before adsorption was not in accordance with the quality standards of oil. The quality of oil improved after adsorption with 5 grams, 10 grams and 15 grams of noni powder of 100 ml waste cooking oil, and the best absorbent numbers, moisture content, and dirt with 15 grams were 0.2%, 2 meq.O2/kg, 0.09%. This is showed that the quality of the used cooking oil to be better after the addition of noni powder served as an adsorbent.
