Abstract

The main problem of Aquaculture is the diseases on the fish. Besides environmentally unfriendly, the using of chemicals as drugs against the diseasesalso producesthe new strain of the disease . The purpose ofthis study were to determine the effectiveness of using the extracts of garlic (Allium sativum), betel leafs (Piper betle), and papaya leafs (Carica papaya) against ectoparasites that infected thetilapia (Oreochromis niloticus) and to determine the immunity of some ectoparasites against each treatment. The methods used was experimental and observation by directly observing the occurrence or incidence of ectoparasites. Water quality parameters measured include temperature and degree of acidity ( pH ). The study was done for 45 days. Analisa Sidik Ragam used to determine the effect of each extract against ectoparasites on tilapia ( Oreochromis niloticus).The studyshowed that the papaya leaf (Carica papaya) has the best effectiveness in reducing the attack of ectoparasites on tilapia (Oreochromis niloticus) compared to garlic (Allium sativum) and betel leaf (Piper betle). The study also showed 12 kinds of ectoparasites that attacked the tilapia (Oreochromis niloticus). The highest incidence values found in the control, and then feed that mixed with garlic, then mixed with betel leafs and the lowest was the feed that mixed with papaya leafs.Keywords: Garlic, Betel Leafs, Papaya Leafs, Tilapia

Abstract

Metals and the other minerals are commonly found in fresh water and sea water, although the amount is very limited. The heavy metals which come into the waters will pollute the sea. One suspected of marine life will be affected due to degradation of water and sediment in coastal environments is shellfish. The aims of this study are to calculate the number of lead concentrations in the water, sediment, and blood cockle (Anadara Granosa) and to analyzed the correlation between lead consentration in water, sediment, and shellfish.This study was conducted in June-August 2013 in Belawan Beach, Bagan Deli Village, District of Medan Belawan, North Sumatra Province. The number of point stations observed were three stations. Parameters measured were water physico-chemical parameters and the concentrations of lead in the water column, sediment, and blood cockle then analyzed by using atomic absorption spectrophotometer (AAS).The results of research on water showed the lead concentration is about 0.64 to 0.91 mg / L. while lead concentration in sediments ranged from 60.78 to 71.56 and lead concentration in mussels is abut 10.48 to 12.03 mg / kg. These results indicate that water, sediment, and shellfish have been contaminated by lead in Belawan Beach.Keywords : Blood cockle, Heavy metals , Lead.

Abstract

Natural food that has a high protein content, easily digestible and small sized could be found in Rotifers genus Brachionus. However, due to the complication of cultivating, it has low rate production. The purpose of this research was to identify appropriate food and to idenfity maximum time of rotifer’s growth The methods used experimental and observation by directly observing the population growth of Brachionus spp. The experiment using a Completely Randomize Design with 4 treatment and 3 repetition. Four treatments include A (Brachionus spp + phytoplankton), B (Brachionus spp + soya bean production waste), C (Brachionus spp + baker”s yeast), dan D (Brachionus spp + vitamin B-Complex).The result showed that there were different population of Brachionus spp to each treatment. The highest population could be found in the soya bean production waste with population value 201x104 ind/ml. The highest population was reached in the eighth day. It revealed that Branchionus spp with high value could be produced in the soya bean production waste and the optimum time was in the eighth day after the spreading.Keywords: Brachionus spp, Population Growth, Soya Bean Production

Abstract

Goldfish (Carassius auratus) is a beautiful freshwater ornamental fish. Price of goldfish depends on several factors, one of them is the body color. Goldfish have stable price in the market whether market demand that continues to increase. Goldfish have characteristics from the type of colors and the beauty of their fins. Color is aesthetics ornamental fish that affect it economical values. Thus, the color should be upgraded and maintained its quality. Such efforts to increase color will be done by adding natural pigment into the feeds. Pigments natural resources can be obtained from Spirulina platensis. The purpose of this research is to know dosage Spirulina platensis that optimal to increase the color of Goldfish. This Research using Complete Random Design (CRD) with three repetition, with the dose treatment by 0 %, 1 %, 3 %, and 5 % for up during 28 days. Additional Spirulina platensis through the feed can increasing colors of the Goldfish. The nutrient that enriched with Spirulina platensis dosage 3% can produce colors brighter than the other dose. Abstract

Goldfish in Indonesia is popular and likely ornamental fish for all of society. Goldfish have a stable price in the market and quite affordable with the ever-increasing market demand. Goldfish as ornamental fish have interesting colour and excellence in body shapes especially the beauty of their fins. The bright and brilliant colors of Goldfish is an attraction that affect it economical values. Thus, the color should be upgraded and maintained its quality. Such efforts to increase color will be done by pigments manipulation techniques with adding suplement into the feeds. The suplement pigments can be obtained from Astaxanthin. The purpose of this research is to know dosage Astaxanthin that optimal to increase the color of Goldfish.this research using Complete Random Design (CRD) with three repetition, with the dose treatment by 0%, 1%, 3%, and 5% for up during 28 days. Abstract

The development of goldfish cultivation has a good prospect due to theincreasing market demand. But the attack Argulus sp. on hatchery goldfish is a seriousproblem that can cause a loss of the farmers that is decreased production of fish, as wellas the low value. This research aims to know the extent to which the effectiveness saltagainst Argulus sp. infection in goldfish (Cyprinus carpio) and to know the optimallevels of salt in the control of infection of Argulus sp. on goldfish. This study used aRandomized Complete Design (RAL), namely 3 and 1 control treatment with eachtreatment was repeated as many as 3 times, with a dose of the treatment 3 ppt, 6 ppt, 9ppt. Data analyzed with ANOVA. The results showed that the giving of the salt effecton the value of the prevalence, intensity of infection of Argulus sp. and survival rate ofgoldfish. The concentration of salt in controlling attacks Argulus sp. found in thetreatment of the G3 (9 ppt) that is the value of the prevalence of 60,17%, the value ofthe intensity of 1,54 ind/tail with survival rates of fish 93,33%.Key words : Cyprinus carpio, Argulus sp., salt (NaCl), prevalence, intensity

Abstract

The potential for aquaculture in Indonesia has a very promising opportunity.The ornamental fish have a beauty value of its body shape, active movement and colordiversion. Koi (Cyprinus carpio) is one type of ornamental fish that can be cultered. Koifish which have beautiful and bright colors can be have a high value. Natural colormatters in feed is done to improve and maintain the color of ornamental fish. Materialsof beta carotene used were astaxanthin, carrot powder and spirulina. The purpose ofthis research is to determine the best effect of natural beta carotene issue to increasecolors brightness in koi fish and determine the treatment efficient or not. This researchused Completely Randomized Design (CRD) with four treatments: T (without givingcolor material), W (carrots), S (spirulina) and A (astaxanthin) each of dose 3% andthree repetition. Data were analyzed with ANOVA system. The result has shown thatissue 3% of astaxanthin produce the best color brightness at 0,97 point than the othertreatment. The result showed that the treatment of color materials issue in feed wasefficient (benefit) because of the efficiency values smaller than 1 (one).Keywords: Cyprinus carpio, koi fish, color, carotenoids

Abstract

Nila fish is economic valuable fish, consumer demand increasing, but hasnot been followed by intensive cultivation and optimal. One of attempt toovercome these problems by substituting commercial feed with fish meat mealAzolla pinnata for growth nila fish. The tested fish are nila fish size 6 cm whichmaintained in an pain diameter 50 cm by 12 unit. With completely randomizeddesign. With treatment commercial pakan 100% without added azolla flour,commercial pakan 94 % added 10 % azolla flour, commercial pakan 88 %added 20 % azolla flour, and commercial pakan 82 % added 30 % azolla flour,the result showed that azolla flour can be used as a substitute for fish meal in fishfeed. The fourth feed that gives the best growth as feeds commercial pakan 82 %added 30 % azolla flour with weight growth of 4.33 g and length growth 2.23 cm.Keywords : Oreochromis niloticus, Azolla pinnata flour, Growth

Abstract

Lake Lut Tawar is the one of lake in Aceh province. The waters of Lake Lut Tawar used for agricultural activities, settlements, tourism and fisheries. Specifically for fisheries activities in Lake Lut Tawar, existence of floating net aquaculture increase by time to time. The existence of floating net aquaculture activities affect for water quality through feed waste, feces and dead fish. This study aims to determine how big the carrying capacity the waters of Lake Lut Tawar with floating net system of aquaculture, that is based on the presence of phosphorus using the formula of the Minister of Environment Regulation No. 28 of 2009. The research was conducted in January to Mai 2015, sempel capture location is determined based on the environment setting used purposive sampling method. The results showed quality the waters of Lut Tawar Lake still in the freshwater quality standard of Grade II PP 82 of 2001, and the carrying capacity the waters of Lut Tawar lake with total phosphate 0.1407 mg/L was at 23728.61 tons/year as well as the waters area that could be used for floating net cages measuring 19.291 hectaresKeywords: Carrying Capacity, Floating net, Lake Lut tawar

Abstract

Aplication of silvofishery cultivation technique in TanjungRejo Village, PercutSei Tuan Sub District still not well managed. This happens because it enters The PaluhMerbau water source directly without water management process first. Remembering The PaluhMerbau is still intersect with Deli Estuary that has been polluted heavy metals then the autors are interested to do this research. This study aims to calculate the amount of heavy metal concentrationabsorbed by milkfishin Tanjung Rejo Village Percut Sei Tuan Subdistrict.This scientific report surveyed within a month in July 2017 and analyzed using an atomic absorption spectrophotometer (AAS).The result of UPT LPPMHP Medan test showed that the concentration of cadmium and lead on milkfish’s liver and milkfish’s gill has been contaminated by heavy metals cadmium and lead but still belowquality standards.Keywords: Heavy metal, cadmium, lead, milkfish and silvofishery.
