Abstract

This is a quasi-experimental research that aimed to know the effectiveness of the learning model of TSTS viewed by students  understanding of mathematical concepts. The population in this study were all students of VIII grade of SMP Al-Kautsar Bandar Lampung in academic year 2012/2013 as many as 270 students and distributed into 8 classes. The samples in this study were students of VIII E which taken randomly. The study design was a one-group posttest only design. Instrument used in this study was a essay test of conceptual understanding. Based on the analysis of data showed that the percentage of students who understand the mathematical concepts in cooperative learning of TSTS type was less than 65%. Thus, the cooperative learning model of TSTS type was ineffective viewed by understanding of mathematical concepts of VIII grade students of SMP Al-Kautsar Bandar Lampung in academic year 2012/2013.  Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian eksperimen semu yang bertujuan untuk mengetahui efektivitas model pembelajaran TSTS ditinjau dari pemahaman konsep matematis siswa. Populasi dalam penelitian ini adalah siswa kelas VIII SMP Al-Kautsar Bandar Lampung tahun pelajaran 2012/2013 sebanyak 270 siswa dan terdistribusi dalam 8 kelas. Sampel pada penelitian ini adalah siswa kelas VIIIE yang diambil secara acak. Desain penelitian ini adalah one group posttest only design. Instrumen yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini berupa soal esai pemahaman konsep. Berdasarkan hasil analisis data, persentase pemahaman konsep matematis siswa yang mengikuti pembelajaran kooperatif tipe TSTS kurang dari 65%. Dengan demikian, model pembelajaran kooperatif tipe TSTS kurang efektif ditinjau dari pemahaman konsep matematis siswa kelas VIII SMP Al-Kautsar Bandar Lampung tahun pelajaran 2012/2013.  Kata Kunci: model pembelajaran kooperatif, pemahaman konsep matematis, TSTS

Abstract

This research is a research development that aims to find out the mathematics module development model that using PQ4R strategy and observing the improvement of creative thinking skills and self-regulated learning by using mathematics learning module and applying PQ4R strategy. The subjects of this research were the students of grade XI at SMAN 6 Bandar Lampung. The preliminary results study shows that there is a need in order to develop the learning modules. The modules organization and development is done by compiling the draft of modules and all its components, based on teaching materials preparation guidelines. Mathematical modules for polynomials study in the grade XI consist of the beginning, core, and end. The validation results show that the module has met the media and material feasibility standards. The first trial shows a very good result. These research test results are in the form of mathematics learning modules on polynomials. The research data was obtained through instruments of creative thinking skills and self-regulated learning scale. Data analysis of this research uses proportion test with SPSS program. The proportion test results towards the effectiveness of modules usage show the students have met the minimum completeness criteria in the creative thinking skills and self-regulated learning. According to research analysis results of the study, the student’s creative thinking and self-regulated learning had been increasing after using mathematics learning module using the PQ4R strategy.  Keywords:  thinking creatively, module, self-regulated learning
