Abstract

Rupat Strait is one of small strait in Malacca Strait which located in among coastal of TownDumai area with the Rupat Island in Riau Province. Position of Rupat Strait semi-closed withthe condition of semi-diurnal tide has potency to cause the happening of oil accumulation interritorial water which can generate the damage of ecosystem territorial waters. Strait Rupatown the variety of various type mangrove representing habitat of various fish type and protectthe coast from wave and aberration. Various transportation activity, processing and oildistribution in coastal area of Dumai cause the territorial water of Strait of Rupat gristle to oilcontamination. Lubuk Gaung is a very sensitive regional to oil contamination. Pulau Ketam is asensitive criteria, but region Pelintung is inclusive of middle criteria untill is not sensitivity.

Abstract

Marine conservation is an effort that could be conducted in marine region becauseit has correlation with natural resources sustainability for future generation. Marinepollution is caused mainly by oil disposal. Various technologies had been used toprevent oil pollution in marine region. CPI (comparative performance index) me-thod had been used to find out the best technology that could be implemented tocontrol oil pollution in marine area, especially Rupat Strait. The results of theresearch shown that the best technology to control oil pollution in marine area aredispersant technology, oilboom and bioremediation respectivelly. At present, dis-persant and oilboom methods are still populer to prevent oil pollution in marineregion based on timing and rehabilitation cost. Bioremediation method has notbeen used to control oil pollution up to now, but it has good prospective and secureto environment to control oil pollution in the future.

Abstract

A model of sustainable oil palm management in the tropical peatlands in Riau, precise and comprehensive data ofland and social economic farmers are required. The research has conducted in the Riau District four months by usingfield survey on land unit. The lands were had evaluated by maximum limiting factors and the socio-economic werecalculated by Multi-Dimensional Scaling. Oil palm development exist in the peatland affected on: 1) DHL score whichexceeds saturation level of 4 mS, and the highest score in Bengkalis 107,32 mS; 2) Land subsidence > 6 cm year-1especially Rokan Hilir have 18 cm year-1; 3) Change of ground water exceeding value float for oil palm (60 cm), highestvalue there was Siak 30-95 cm; 4) Level continue oil palm plantation in peatlands for the ecology dimension showedindex 47,35% (less have continuation) with ecology factor having an effect: water level, prevention of burning land,usage of amelioran /fertilization, and specific of site technology; 5) For social dimension showed index 55,65% (enoughhave continuation) with social factor having an effect: community empowerment, policy synchronization, solving of sosio-conflict, and weak of law straightening; 6) For economic dimension showed index 68,62% (enough have continuation)with economic factor having an effect: capital structure, price of fruit, and production equipments.

Abstract

The research of the toxicity of detergent on Barramundi (Lates calcalifer, Bloch) has been done in atLaboratory Loka Budidaya Laut Batam on Maret 2005. The aim of this research was to test the toxicity ofdetergent on Barramundi based on the result from LC50 and to take the point of safety concentration onBarramundi life. The pre test was get the result from upper treshold (N) = 8 3 ppm and lower treshold (n) = 81ppm. Persistant test showed the result that media test must be changed abaut 6 hours at toxicity test. Theresult of LC50 24, 48, 72 and 96 hours about 121,35 ppm; 100, 35 ppm; 91,95 ppm; 84,35 ppm. The safetyconcentration from detergent was about 8,435 ppm.

Abstract

This study was carried out in February 2014, with the aim to analyze the oilcontent during high and low tide in the different area in coastal waters aroundGunungsitoli Port of Nias Regency. This study was expected to serve as the initialinformation about the content and distribution of oil in the water and can be used as areference in reviewing the environmental conditions in the waters of GunungsitoliPort of Nias Regency. The results showed that the average oil content was 0.256 ppmat high tide and 0.193 ppm at low tide. The average oil content was not significant bydefferent (p > 0.05) betweel high and low tide. The oil content during high tide basedon the distance from the beach were as follow : 0.281 ppm near the beach, 0.273 ppmin te middle and 0.214 ppm in auter coastal. Meanwhile during the low tide the oilcontent were 0.0234 ppm at the beach, 0.174 ppm in the middle, and 0.172 ppm inthe auter coastal, respectively. Based on the distance from shore oil content showedno significant difference (p > 0.05). Oil content in the port / area was 0.288 ppm, intourist areas / settlement, 0.237 ppm, and in the Depo Pertamina was 0.244 ppm andthey showed no significant diffrence (p > 0.05).Keywords: Oil Content, Tidal, Gunungsitoli Port.

Abstract

The research was conducted in May 2014 in Medan Kota Belawan coastal waters. The aim of this research was to analyze the oil contents and diatom abundance as well as their correlation during high and low tide. Samples of sea water for oil and diatom analysis were collected from 4 stations. The analysis of oil content as well as identification and quantification of diatom were carried out in Marine Chemistry Laboratory, Faculty of Fisheries and Marine Sciences, University of Riau in Pekanbaru. The results of the study showed that the highest oil content was found during the high tide in Station 1 (0.322 ppm) and the lowest was at Station 4 (0.040 ppm). Diatoms that were found in the surface waters of Medan Kota Belawan coastal water comprising of 18 species. Nitzschia scrianata was the species with the highest abundance (3640.73 cells/l). The diatom abundance was found to be highest during high tide in Station 4 (1213.58 cells/l) and the lowest was during low tide in Station 1 (360.80 cells/l). Oil content with diatom abundance showed a weak negative correlation (Y = 639,7-971,1x ; R2 = 0.146 ; r = 0.382) at high tide while at low tide Y = 520.7-1370.0x ; R2 = 0.115 ; r = 0.339 which mean that increasing oil content will decrease the abundance of diatoms in Medan Kota Belawan coastal waters.Keywords : Belawan Coastal Waters, oil, diatoms and tide

Abstract

This study was conducted in July 2014 with the aim to analyze the oil content in the water and sediment in the Suir River Estuary in Meranti Islands. This study was expected to serve as the initial information about the oil content in the water and sediments and as a baseline for future research assesing marine pollution in the waters of the River Suir Estuary in Meranti Islands. The method used was a survey method. The oil content in the water was highest at Station 3 (0,15 ppm) which was located in the outer region of the Suir estuary, and the highest in the sediment was at Station 2 (1473,66 ppm) which was located in the central region of the River Suir Estuary. The lowest oil content in the water and sediments, was forward at Station 1 (0,035 ppm and 818,08 ppm), which is part of the Suir estuary. Oil content in the water did not show real relationship with the oil content in the sediment (Y = 1147 - 1493x), the coefficient of determination R2 = 0,05 and correlation coefficient r = 0,23 indicating a negative relationship. Oil content in water was lower than the value of the quality standards set by State Ministry of the Environmental Affairs (2004), the oil content in the sediment was lower than the threshold value has been determined by the National Academy of Science (2001).Keywords: Oil, Waters, Sediment, Suir, Meranti

Abstract

ABSTRACT This research was conducted in July 2014 in the waters of Selat Panjang Strait Meranti Islands Riau Province The goal was to analyze the content of organic matter in the sediments and benthic organism. The study was also to observete relationship betwen organic material content of sediments and macrozoobenthic abundance. The sample were collected from 5 points station consist of three sub station. Sampling direct research at low tide with 3 repetitions. The parameters measured in this study were the brightness, water temperature, salinity, current velocity, and pH. The results of this study indicated that the environmental conditions of Selat Panjang Strait still able to support macrozoobenthic life. The macrozoobenthos found were as many as 15 species consisting of 2 Phyla, namely the Molluscs and Oligochaetes. There were two classes in the phylum of Mollusc 6 species of bivalves and gastropods 8 and 1 species of phylum class Oligochaete Tubificinae. The diversity index (H) was low, where the number of individuals was not uniform. The dominance index (C) close to 1 meaning that the community was dominated by a certain type or species. The relationship with the organic matter content in the waters showed weak and positive meaning if the organic material increases the abundance also increased.. Abstract

This study was conducted since Juny until July 2014 in the Air Hitam Strait of Meranti Island Regency. The purpose of this study was to determine the content of heavy metals of Pb, Cu, and Zn which accumulated in organ system of Parang fish (C. dorab) and Biang fish (S. paxtoni) as the impact of sewage pollution from all human activies around the Air Hitam strait and to determine the feasibility of Parang fish (C. dorab) and Biang fish (S. paxtoni) consumption in Air Hitam strait. The results of this study showed that in Parang fish (C. dorab) Pb content was higher in the gills (5,78 µg/g), and the other heavy metals were higher too in the gills, i.e. Cu (8,68 µg/g) and Zn (39,21 µg/g) respectively. For Biang fish the heavy metals were higher in the gills, Pb (4,96 µg/g), Cu (10,03 µg/g), and Zn (33,82 µg/g) respectively. Based on heavy metal distribution, the content of Pb, Cu, and Zn in Parang fish (C.dorab) and Biang fish (S. paxtoni) at Station I was not significantly different (sig > 0,05) with Station II. Based on the  calculation, Parang fish (C. dorab) and Biang fish (S. paxtoni) from Air Hitam Strait still suitable for consumption as long as it does not exceed the specified limits.   Keywords: Pb, Cu dan Zn; C. dorab dan S. paxtoni ; Air Hitam Strait
