Abstract

The present study was carried out to investigate the biomass of cockle (Anadara granosa) from coastal waters ofSouth Indragiri District, Riau Province. The biomass was investigated by quadrad sampling method in the intertidalarea along the Concong beach, where fishing of cockles mainly occured. The first station was near by the Concongestuary, while the second station was about 3 miles away from the fisrt one. Samples were collected from threedifferent portions of the intertidal zone that of High Intertidal Mid-Intertidal, and Low Intertidal. The result showedthat the highest biomass was found at the lower partion of the intertidal zone. Soft tissue of A. granosa was about24.8% of total wet-weight and 7.2 % of dry-weight. While material organic was about 85 % of soft tissue dry-weight.Water qualities of the sampling station showed that the overall water qualities were still in normal condition.

Abstract

The research was conducted on January 2015, in the waters of the Sungai Bela Estuary,Indragiri Hilir Regency, Riau Province. The research purposed was to define the habitatcharacteristics, vertical distribution, and analysis of correlation between habitat parameters andabundance of windowpane oyster (Placuna placenta). There were 4 stations and each stationdivided into 3 sampling points based on the depth, they were <2 meter, 2?4 meter, and >4meters. Results shown that good habitat characteristics for windowpane oyster was ontemperature of 27.77 0C, Total Suspended Solid on 24.33 mg/L, current speed on 0.02 m/s, pHon 7.87, salinity on 20.60/00, DO on 7.63 mg/L, BOD on 4.17 mg/L, Nitrate on 0.07 mg/L,phosphate on 0.05 mg/L, and organic on 30.07%. The highest abundance of windowpane oysterwas on station 4 (11.000 Ind/Ha). While in vertical term, the highest abundance was at <2meter depth. The distribution pattern of windowpane oyster was evenly at station 1 andclumped in station 2, 3 and 4. Result of correlation abundance of windowpane oyster effect oncurrent speed was r= -0.711, pH was r= 0.649, the abundance of phytoplankton was r= 0.688,and mud substrate was r= 0.535.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengkaji kondisi ekosistem hutan mangrove berdasarkanKriteria Baku Kerusakan Mangrove dan menyusun strategi pengelolaan ekosistemmangrove di Sungaitohor. Penelitian dilaksanakan pada bulan Februari sampai denganMei 2017 di Desa Sungaitohor. Metode yang dipakai dalam penelitian ini adalah metodesurvey, dimana setiap transek dibentang tali dari laut ke darat. Pada setiap zonasimangrove yang berada di sepanjang garis transek, diletakkan plot pohon berbentukbujur sangkar dengan ukuran 10 × 10 m2 dimana didalamnya terdapat petakan 5×5 m2untuk anakan dan 2×2 m2 untuk semai. Hasil penelitian ditemukan 11 jenis mangrove.Jenis mangrove yang dominan di lokasi penelitian adalah jenis Avicennia alba. Berdasarkankriteria baku kerusakan mangrove, kondisi mangrove dalam kondisi baikdimana kisaran kerapatan pohon adalah 666,67 - 2333,33 pohon/ha, substrat padadaerah hutan mangrove adalah lumpur berpasir. Rata-rata indeks keanekaragaman pohonrendah (H?= 0,74), diakibatkan tingkat abrasi pantai tinggi dan tumbuhan mangroveyang berasosiasi. Strategi konservasi dijelaskan bahwa hutan mangrove di DesaSungaitohor dalam kawasan yang dilarang dalam kepemilikan perseorangan, kawasanmangrove ini tidak diperbolehkan untuk membuka lahan, pemukiman, tambak ikan danpenebangan kayu mangrove secara bebas.

Abstract

This study was conducted in Singingi River in March 2008. To the objectiv of the study areidentify the macrozoobenthos community structure and its relationships with the physical andchemical properties of the river. Water and macrozoobenthos sample were taken in 3replications in 5 station namely inlower part of the river, Tanjung Pauh, Sungai Paku, Kotobaruand Petai. The samples were examined descriptively and analyzed in the labortary. Themacrozoobenthos samples were belong to 3 phylum, 4 classes, 8 families and 8 spesies. Theabundance of the organisms were 105 – 427 individu/M2, the diversity index (H’) were 0,93 –1,77, the domination index (C’) were 0,35 – 0,65 and the homogenity index were 0,52 – 0,84.The Chemical Oxygen Demand (COD), Biological Oxygen Demand (BOD), Sulphate, Ferrum,Total Suspended Solid (TSS) and Turbidity of the water were exceed the maximum levelsuggested by the Goverment Decree No. 82 / 2001, about The Management of Water Qualityand Pollution. The analysis revealed the positive correlation betwen macrozoobenthos withvarious physical and chemical characteristics of the water, the sediment and texture of thebottom material.

Abstract

Research was conducted in Gaung Anak Serka River Sub-Province Indragiri Hilir in Octobertill januari 2008 as a mean to know status of quality of territorial water of Gaung Anak SerkaRiver evaluated from physics and chemical parameter, and community structure ofmakrozoobenthos. The Method used of survey and intake of sampel taken twice, in each stationof sampel taken at 3 dots at random. Research station consist of; station 1 (GAS river estuary),station 2 (Teluk Pinang), station 3 (Dusun Murni), station 4 (Teluk Pantaian), Station 5 (SungaiIliran), station 6 (Teluk Sungka), station 7 (Tuasan), station 8 (Dusun Pergam), station 9(Sungai Empat) and station 10 (Rambaian). Data has taken of quality of water either throughphysics and chemical parameter and also makrozoobenthos. Data of Exsitu analysed inLaboratory Faculty of Fishery and Marine Science of Riau University. Quality of physics waterparameters (temperature, brightness, deepness, current flow) still normal in a conditionaccording to PP. 82. year 2001, except brightness for station residing in part of downstream(station 1-5) have passed normal sill. Chemical parameters (pH, DO. TSS. COD, BOD, Nitrateand Fospat) also stay in normal gyration. While, organism of Macrozoobenthos found in riverconsist of 6 set of relatives, 5 Class and 6 Ordo. Set of relatives consist of Tucideae,Chironomideae, Baetidae, Ctenodrillidae, Donacidae and Nassariidae. Class coversOligochaeta, Insecta, Polychaeta, Pelecypoda and Gastropoda. Ordo Nematoda, Doptera,Ephemerptera, Ctenodrilida, Veneridea and Neagastropoda. Types of Macrozoobenthos areTubifek sp, Sp Chironomous, Baetis Sp, Ctenodrillus Serratus and Cyclop neritea.

Abstract

The investigation was conducted early 2008 at North Bintan island waters, Riau IslandsProvince. The sample of sediment and snail S. canarium has been taken from four locationsthose were Busung, Lobam, Sebung, and Tanjung Bakau coastal waters. Metal contentanalysis conducted by use Atomic Absorption Spectrophotometer (AAS) type Solar 969 AA,both in sediment and snail. The average content of heavy metal Pb in sediment over satationwas 2,99 ppm. While the average metal concentration in the sanil was 3.80 ppm. The highestcontent of heavy metal in sediment and snail was obtained at Lobam coastal waters, whichwas an area that close to the town, industries, and shipping activities. The was a strongpositif relationship between concentration of heavy metal Pb in sediment and in the sail (sig&lt; 0.05).

Abstract

This study wasconducted inFebruary - April2012 in Buatan Lake Waters Pekanbaru City.Theaimed of this study was to determine of the pollution level of Buatan Lake waters base onofphysical, chemicalandbiological parameters. The method used was surveymethod.Samples were takenat4 (four) stationsand5 (five) pointseach stationwith samplingintervaloftimeoncea month. The result of this study showed that physical and chemicalparametersweretemperature 28.7 to 30.8°C, depth 1.4 to 3m, the brightness 46.3 to 70.9cm, pH5.7 to 6,dissolved oxygen 1.11 to 1.55mg/l, BOD54 to 5mg/l, COD 26 to 32mg/l, TSS39 to 48mg/l,total organic matter in the sedimen 22 to 33%, and most of the stasions dominatedbymudsubstrat.Macrozoobenthosfoundas many as3(three) species (Tubifexsp, ChironomusspandHesperocorixasp). The average of macrozoobenthosabundance was791 ind/m2. Base onstatistical analysis (Anova)found that no significant differences abundance between stasionsFcalc.≤ Ftab.was 0.90&lt;4.76), as well as between months. It could be conclude that BuatanLake waters had been heavily polluted, only a few high tolerance organism could be survive.

Abstract

This study aims to determine bioekeonomi capture fisheries in the Islands District Meranti (Maximum Sustainable Yield, Maximum Economic Yield, and Open Access), to assess the status of fisheries in the Islands Meranti Regency using models Schaefer, calculating the profitability of fishermen during fishing operations take place. This research was conducted in June - August 2015 in the village of Sungai Gayung Kiri Rangsang Subdistrict, village of Tanjung Kedabu Rangsang Pesisir Subdistrict and village of Telesung Rangsang Pesisir Subdistrict in Meranti Islands Regency. The method used in this research is survey method with interview and observation, while data analysis using bio-economic modeling. The results of this study suggests that the benefits of fishing effort during the arrest operation took place most largely produced from the mackerel and the status of the fishery in Meranti Islands Regency has achieved economic overfishing.

Abstract

This study was conducted in December 2013 at Dumai river estuary. Thestudy aims were to determine the abundance distribution of mangrove snail (T.telescopium) and correlation between abundance and sediment organic content.The method used was a survey method. Samples of snail population and sedimentwere collected by a single visit during low tide. Location of study was dividedinto 3 stations. Station I located inside the conservation area, station II waslocated close to shipyard, while station III laid near by a residential community.The analysis carried out in Marine Biologi Laboratory of Riau University.The results of the study show that the highest abundance of snail was atthe station III (6,55 ind/m2) and the lowest was at the station I (1,99 ind/m2).Statistical analysis (Anova) show that there was no significant differentabundance among those stations. Regression analysis show that the relationshipbetween the abundance of T. telescopium and organic sediment content wasnegatively correlated (r = 0,453).Keywords: Telescopium telescopium, abundance, organic Sediment, Dumai Riverestuary

Abstract

Marine tourism is all activities undertaken to create a fun, challenges, new experiences, and health that can only be done in the territorial waters. The study was conducted in June - July 2013 on the Balai Island of Aceh Singkil Regency, the Province of Aceh. The aims of the study were to determine the marine ecotourism potential and to formulate a strategy development of Balai Island. The method used in this study is a survey method, with respondents comprising of local people, tourists, business tourism stakeholders and policymakers. There were seven station observeds interen of water brightness, temperature, salinity, acidity, (pH), and the flow velocity carried.The results showed that the object and the potential appeal of ecologically Balai Island is a white sand with clear waters and coral reefs have great beauty, as well as activities that can be done such as fishing, snorkeling and enjoy activities such as walking around the island. From the SWOT analysis, it can be recommended as many as ten nautical tourism development strategies in the island: 1) optimization (travel packages), 2) to increase the easy transportation to get to the island, 3) to create a collaboration with the universities in research and conservation, 4) to provide counseling role and function of the importance of protecting the environment, 5) to create a bulletin board in the form of banners, pamphlets and the like to the areas that you can reach and make the print media and social media for external promotion, 6) to improve the quality of human resources, especially skills needed for ecotourism activities, 7) to increase the assurance of safety for tourists such as installing Tsunami alarms, 8) to intensity monitoring and enforcement of regulations in protecting the environment, 9) to empower the local communities in tourism promotion and marketing at the same time travel, and 10) to recom a zonation of activities of tourism.Keywords: Potential, Marine Ecotourism, Balai Island, Aceh Singkil
