Abstract

PD Jaya Saputra as a Small Medium Enterprise (SME), which produces Cimanuk rice, wants its product to become Pandeglang’s pride icon.  Cimanuk rice has a good quality, so it can penetrate not only the national but also the international market (export).  The objective of this study are (1) Identify and evaluate the condition of SMEs PD Jaya Saputra, (2) Analyze the feasibility of business development through quality improvement, and (3) Prepare alternative strategies appropriate for their business development through quality improvement. The data needed for this study originated from the primary and secondary data. The data analysis was performed  through a descriptive methods, namely SWOT, QSPM, and feasibility analysis  through assessment criteria the PBP, Net B/C, BEP, NPV, and IRR.  IFE matrix resulted in a score of 2.688,  EFE matrix of 2.758, and the IE matrix, all of which  are in quadrant V, namely growth/stabilization quadrant, which means that the firm must conduct strategies for market penetration and development.  The recommended strategies are applying rice production technology to obtain quality, improving and maintaining quality in accordance to the rice grades and quality regulation to maintain consumer’s loyalty, improving quality of human resources in production and marketing section through informal channels.  The results of the eligibility criteria analysis showed the BEP 84.866, PBP 32 months, Net B/C 1.044, a positive NPV 765.395, and IRR 17%. The quality improvement can be done through improvement of management and human resources, cultivation, harvesting and post-harvesting, including machine repair and proper packaging

Abstract

Teaching reading is not only teaching by displaying a text but also graphic organizer. This qualitative study aims at exploring students’ perception of fishbone strategy that is implemented in learning of EFL reading which is underpinned by the principles of using of visual aids and the principles of EFL teaching reading comprehension. The third semester of  twenty elementary school teachers education students   were voluntarily willing to participate in this study by joining learning of reading using fishbone strategy. Following this, the students responded questionnaire and interview of which each question comprised factual aspect, behavior aspect, and attitudinal aspect to explore the students’ responses of fishbone strategy in learning reading. The findings from questionnaire that were confirmed with interview (1) on factual aspect revealed that the students were able to solve their difficulties in learning reading, (2) on behavior aspect revealed that it was their first learning time by using fishbone strategy in reading subject, and (3) on attitudinal aspect revealed that the students felt motivated and easy to learn reading by employing fishbone strategy due to fishbone as a helpful teaching strategy for them. The overall the results of findings on each aspect from the two instruments revealed that students’ positive perception of utilizing fishbone strategy as an appropriate tool organizer in learning EFL reading in Indonesia.

Abstract

The purpose of this study are: (1) to determine the structure of the household income of rice farmers in lowland swamp land, and (2) to determine the distribution of household income of farmers in various typologies lebak.Penelitian wetlands was held in Ogan Ilir and Ogan Ogan Ilir in March until May 2013. Sampling technique is simple random sample of 222 farmers, or 10.5 percent of 2,111 respondents used in this research. These respondents were divided into 3 groups: farmers who cultivate land swampy marsh embankment, mid and deep. The method used is a survey method. Data collected consist of primary and secondary data. The structure of household income farmers viewed from the contribution of a business on total household income, while the income distribution is calculated using Gini index. The results showed the contribution of household income on lebak dikes and in largely derived from non farming, to contribute to the embankment of lebak by 63.62% and amounted to 48.43% in the lowland, while in the mid lebak largely derived from rice farming with a contribution of 70.03%. The distribution of household income in the three types of inequality lebak almost evenly with relatively low because it has a Gini index of less than 0.4.Keywords: contribution, distribution, revenue
