Abstract

The objective of research is to improve the creativity and classic Indonesian history learning achievement through optimizing the creative problem solving model in teaching-learning process in History Study Program of FKIP UNS. This study was carried out using classroom action research. The research contains the action aiming to improve a system´s quality and the practice within the system. In this research, the intended system is the teaching learning process of Indonesian Classic history carried out in Social Science Education Department of History Education Study Program of Training and Education Faculty of Sebelas Maret University addressed in Ir. Sutami Street No. 36 A Surakarta. The subject of research was the students of History Study Program attending classing Indonesian history course. Meanwhile the object was the teaching-learning process activity, including: lecturer´s teaching activity, students´ creativity and learning achievement. This research was carried out using collaborative participative approach between the incharge-of lecturer, assisting lecturer (researcher), and the student so that sharing occurs in each stage of activity. This research was done using cyclical analysis process encompassing four stages of activity: planning, acting, observing, and reflection. This research was implemented in two cycles: cycle I as the implementation of action, and cycle II as improvement. In line with the objective above, the problem in this research was the students´ low creativity and learning achievement. It is characterized by: the student´s low discipline, participation, and capability of accom-plishing task. In order to improve the students´ creativity and learning achievement, this research, the researcher carries out action in the form of creative problem solving model application in Indonesian classic history. Before the activity is carried out: the concept of history learning quality is instilled, the training of learning implementation plan arrangement is done, and peer teaching is intended to improve the lecturer´s capability in applying the creative problem solving model. Having carried out those activities and implemented the result into the teaching learning process, it can be seen that from one cycle to another the student´s creativity and learning achievement improves. It is reflected fiom: the improvement of students discipline in utilizing learning time, capability of looking for and collecting the source, capability of identifying, formulating, and solving the problem, idea generation, students´ idea.

Abstract

This research aims to improve the quality of teaching-learning Multicultural Education-based Social Science using Contextual Teaching and Learning in SMP Negeri 19 Surakarta. This research was conducted using a classroom action research method. This research consists of some actions aiming to improve the Multicultural Education Based-Social Science Teaching-Learning using Contextual Teaching and Leaning in SMP Negeri 19 Surakarta. The subject of the research was the VIII graders of SMP Negeri (Public Junior High School) 19. Meanwhile the object was Teaching-Learning Process, including: teachers teaching activity, students learning activity, and learning circumstance. The approach used was participatory collaborative approach between the researchers, teachers, and students, so that there was sharing occurring in activity stage. This research was reflective in nature, meaning to improve the rational steadiness of action undertaken. This research was carried out using cycles encompassing four stages: planning acting, observing, and reflecting. This research was done in two cycles: the first cycle as the implementation of action, and the second cycle as the improvement. The problem of the research was the low quality of Social Science Teaching- Learning Process, because of the teachers low teaching skill. It was characterized by: the teachers, who were less capable of making teaching preparation, less mastery on the material, teaching without material development, monotonous teaching method, less capability of implementing the learning procedure, and teachers less capability of establishing harmonic relationship. The teachers low teaching skill leads to the students low learning activity. To improve the quality of learning, the researchers took some measures (actions): discussion about the essence of Social Science learning, in which the multicultural values are also discussed; discussion about learning models, particularly contextual teaching and learning; training of learning implementation plan develop-ment; and holding learning model course in the form of peer teaching. After those measures were taken, and the results were implemented in teaching learning process, the quality of teaching- learning process improves from one cycle to another. It could be seen from: the improvement in the learning implementation of plan development skill, in the capability of implementing Social Science learning using CTL, and capability of instilling the multicultural values. The improvement of teaching-learning quality process leads to the improvement of students learning activity and learning circumstance.

Abstract

This research aims: (1) to describe the prior condition of teacher competency in History-Social Studies learning in Junior High School; (2) to describe the training form used for the History-Social Studies teacher of Junior High School currently; (3) to describe the form of multicultural education-based History-Social Studies training requirement; and (4) to develop the multicultural education-based History-Social Studies training model for the teacher of Junior High School in Surakarta. This research and development was taken place in Surakarta city. The subject of research was the History-Social Studies teachers of Junior High School. The result of research showed: (1) the prior condition of Social Studies teacher’s competency in history learning was still low. It could be seen from the teacher’s low capability of developing RPP (lesson plan), and low capability of implementing the learning; (2) the training form used currently could not improve the teacher competency optimally; (3) the teacher wanted to improve his/her competency through multicultural education-based History-Social Studies training; and (4) the training model developed encompassed three stages: planning, implementation, and  training evaluation. Keywords: Training Model, History-Social Studies, Multicultural Education  Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk: (1) mendeskripsikan kondisi awal kompetensi guru dalam pembelajaran IPS-Sejarah  di SMP; (2) mendeskripsikan bentuk pelatihan yang dipakai untuk guru IPS-Sejarah SMP sekarang ini; (3) mendeskripsikan bentuk kebutuhan pelatihan IPS-Sejarah berbasis pendidikan multikultural; dan (4) mengembangkan model pelatihan IPS-Sejarah berbasis pendidikan multikultural bagi guru SMP di Surakarta. Penelitian dan pengembangan ini dilaksanakan di Kota Surakarta. Subjek penelitian ini adalah guru IPS (sejarah) di sekolah menengah pertama. Hasil penelitian dapat dikemukakan: (1) kondisi awal kompetensi guru IPS dalam pembelajaran sejarah masih rendah. Hal ini dapat dilihat dari rendahnya kemampuan guru dalam menyusun RPP, dan rendahnya kemampuan dalam melaksanakan pembelajaran; (2) bentuk pelatihan yang dipakai sekarang ini kurang dapat meningkatkan kompetensi guru; (3)  guru ingin meningkatkan kompetensinya melalui pelatihan IPS-Sejarah berbasis pendidikan multikultural; dan (4) model pelatihan yang Dikembangkan mempunyai tiga tahapan, yaitu: perencanaan, pelaksanaan, dan evaluasi pelatihan Kata Kunci: Model Pelatihan, IPS-Sejarah, Pendidikan Multikultural.

Abstract

This research aims to: (1) find out the description of (a) principals leadership,(b) work ethos, (c) perception on the teachers teaching capability, and (d) quality ofElementary School; (2) develop and examine the effect of principals leadership, workethos, perception of the teachers teaching capability directly or indirectly on educationquality. This research was conducted at the elementary schools in Surakarta from Marchto September 2004. The research method employed was a descriptive correlation methodthat is expost facto in nature. The population was the principals of elementary schoolsthroughout Surakarta city. 37 respondents were selected as the sample using clusterrandom sampling technique. The instrument of data collection employed was questionnairewith Likert scale for dependent variable: education quality (Y); independentvariable: principals leadership (X1), work ethos (X2); and mediating variable: perceptionof the teachers teaching capability (X3). Technique of analyzing data employed wasstatistic technique with correlation regression and path analysis. From the result ofresearch, it can be concluded that: (1) the principals leadership, work ethos, perceptionon the teachers teaching capability, and education quality (elementary school) have apositive and significant relation; (2) there is a direct positive significant effect of principalsleadership factor on the quality of education with effective contribution 26.57%;(3) there is a direct positive significant effect of principals work ethos factor on thequality of education with effective contribution 24.68%; and (4) there is a direct positivesignificant effect of principals perception of the teachers teaching capability factor onthe quality of education with effective contribution 24.57%.

Abstract

The problems of research include: (1) how is the concept of history dimension and mythological meaning of Pertapaan Pringgadani tourist object?; (2) to what extent has the society developed the history dimension and mythological meaning of tourist object?; (3) what are the obstacles in developing the history dimension and mythological meaning of tourist object?; and (4) what measures do the government do in the society based tourism education development in Blumbang Tawangmangu? This study was conducted in Tawangmangu, Karanganyar regency. This study belonged to a descriptive qualitative research using a single embedded case study. The data sources employed were: informant, place and event, as well as written source. The data were analyzed using an interactive analysis method. The result of research showed: (1) according the surrounding people, Pertapaan Pringgodani in Kaling Empire time was a place where a hermit defeated Prabu Boko; (2) in addition to physical development, the surrounding people always hold mondosio ritual up to now, as the expression of their gratitude; (3) the development of Pertapaan Pringgodani area has not been optimal. It is due to many obstacles such as heavy area, lack of supporting fund, and society’s low awareness; (4) in order to improve the societys awareness, the government conducts society empowerment and improvement of supporting infrastructures.

Abstract

The problem that rose in this research is the teaching ability of new teachers which is relatively low. It was shown from: (1) teachers had less ability to make teaching preparation; (2) teachers had less ability to perform the teaching procedure; (3) teachers had less ability to establish an interpersonal relation harmonically at classroom. This research is intended to solve the above problems. This research was applied on class 11.4 SMU Negeri I Surakarta. The research was a collaborative research which involved senior teachers of history subject matter and new teachers. Their active involvement in the research was enable them to broaden their roles by conducting self reflection critically toward what they did in the class; and based on that reflection, their performance was improved. In line with the characteristics of the classroom research, the problem above should be overcome by taking action in the form of directing new teachers. This is based on the observation result and the interview that the low ability to teaching not only comes from the teachers themselves, but also from the less effective supervision. The research result shows that after carrying out the actions, the teaching ability has increased significantly, in the turn it brings about a positive effect to the students learning activities.

Abstract

The objective of the research is to describe: (1) prior condition of nationality insight among the students of Senior High Schools in Surakarta`, (2) the historical learning management conducted so far, (3) the form of need for the historical learning management model integrated in multicultural education, and (4) the form of historical learning management model integrated in multicultural education in Senior High Schools in Surakarta. This research is conducted using research and development designs. The subjects of research are students and history teachers of Senior High Schools in Surakarta. This study is conducted in explorative way using observation, interview, document analysis, instrument and FGD as techniques of collecting data. The data analysis is carried out using an interactive model of qualitative analysis. The result of research shows: (1) the nationality insight among the students is relatively low; (2) the teachers manage historical learning poorly, as identified from their low abilities of planning, organizing, implementing and evaluating the learning; (3) the teachers highly require the model of historical learning management integrated into multicultural education; and (4) the model of historical learning management integrated in multicultural education consists of learning planning, organization, implementation and evaluation steps. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah  untuk mendeskripsikan: (1) kondisi awal tentang wawasan kebangsaan di kalangan siswa SMA Kota Surakarta, (2) bentuk manajemen pembelajaran sejarah yang selama ini dilaksanakan, (3) bentuk kebutuhan terhadap model manajemen pembelajaran sejarah terintegrasi pendidikan multikultural, dan (4) bentuk model manajemen pembelajaran sejarah terintegrasi pendidikan multikultural di SMA Kota Surakarta. Penelitian ini dilaksanakan dengan desain research and development. Subjek penelitiannya adalah siswa dan guru sejarah SMA di Kota Surakarta. Penelitian ini dilakukan secara eksploratif dengan teknik pengumpulan data menggunakan observasi, wawancara, analisis dokumen, angket dan FGD. Metode analisis data menggunakan analisis kualitatif model interaktif. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan: (1) wawasan kebangsaan di kalangan siswa relatif rendah;  (2) guru kurang mampu mengelola pembelajaran sejarah, hal itu teridentifikasi dari rendahnya kemampuan merencanakan, mengorganisasikan, melaksanakan, dan mengevaluasi pembelajaran; (3) guru sangat membutuhkan model manajemen pembelajaran sejarah terintegrasi pendidikan multikultural; dan (4) model manajemen pembelajaran sejarah terintegrasi pendidikan multikultural terdiri atas langkah-langkah perencanaan pembelajaran, pengorganisasian pembelajaran, pelaksanaan pembelajaran, dan evaluasi pembelajaran.

Abstract

AbstrakPembelajaran Bahasa Indonesia seringkali dianggap mudah oleh sebagian besar peserta didik, hal tersebut menjadikan tujuan pembelajaran dalam suatu kegiatan belajar mengajar tidak dapat dicapai secara optimal, salah satunya keterampilan menulis. Banyaknya model pembelajaran yang ditawarkan dalam dunia pendidikan nyatanya belum mampu mengatasi kekurangan tersebut. Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah 1) untuk mengetahui pembelajaran keterampilan menulis di SD, 2) untuk mengetahui tingkat keterampilan menulis siswa, 3) untuk mengetahui kebutuhan terhadap model pembelajaran Bahasa Indonesia yang dapat meningkatkan keterampilan menulis siswa. Jenis penelitian yang dilakukan adalah penelitian kualitatif yang dilakukan melalui studi kasus dan studi literature. Subjek penelitiannya meliputi siswa kelas III Sekolah Dasar. Teknik pengumpulan data menggunakan  triangulasi data/sumber yaitu data wawancara yang dilakukan dengan guru kelas III di sekolah yang berbeda dan triangulasi metode yaitu data wawancara, dan observasi. Analisis data dilakukan mulai dari pengumpulan data, reduksi data, penyajian data sampai verifikasi. Hasil penelitian pada studi pendahuluan ini adalah 1) kurikulum yang diterapkan di empat sekolah tersebut adalah Kurikulum Tingkat Satuan Pendidikan, 2) model pembelajaran yang digunakan guru sudah mengarah pada student center, 3) media yang digunakan berupa gambar yang sudah tertera pada buku, 4) penilaian dilakukan secara menyeluruh (mencakup empat keterampilan), 5)sebagian siswa belum mampu mencapai KKM. Kesimpulan dari studi pendahuluan ini adalah perlu dikembangkannya model pembelajaran Bahasa Indonesia yang dapat meningkatkan keterampilan menulis siswa. Kata kunci: model pembelajaran; pembelajaran bahasa Indonesia; keterampilan menulis
