Abstract

Penelitian ini dilaksanakan pada bulan Februari sampai Mei 2007 di areal PT Patra Dock Dumai,Propinsi Riau. Tujuan penelitian ini untuk mengetahui struktur komunitas diatom epilitik pada lambungkapal dan juga untuk memahami faktor-faktor kualitas air yang mempengaruhi keberadaan epilitik. Datayang diperoleh langsung dari observasi dan pengumpulan sampel di lapangan. Analisis dan identifikasisampel diatom epilitik dilakukan di laboratorium Kelautan Terpadu Universitas Riau. Jumlah spesiesdiatom epilitik terdiri dari 31 spesies ditemukan. Dua diatom epilitik dengan tingkat kelimpahan yangtinggi, yaitu Nitzschia sigma dan Nitschia vermicularis. Spesies tersebut menjadi spesies yang toleranterhadap tekanan arus dan udara. Kelimpahan diatom epilitik pada kapal dari besi berkisar antara 459sampai 10.107 ind/cm2, pada kapal fiber antara 459 sampai 8.729 ind/cm2 dan kapal kayu antara 459sampai 8.729 ind/cm2 . Dari indeks standar kergaman (H’), indeks keseragaman dan indeks dominansi,perairan memiliki keseimbangan dan tidak ada dominansi. Parameter kualitas air berada pada range yangsedang untuk diatom epilitik laut.

Abstract

The research was conducted on May – June 2007 in side of Siak River at Kecamatan RumbaiPesisir, Pekanbaru. The purposes of research is know that one of the impacts of pollution onSiak River is diseases carrying water had increased (diarrhea and skin diseases). Therefore, itneeded a research concern on the advantage effects of river waters toward diarrhea and skindiseases of community side Siak River (case on Kecamatan Rumbai Pesisir, Pekanbaru). Thehypothesis was that pollution on Siak River caused high prevalence of case on diarrhea and skindiseases, oppositely, the people had not used waters from Siak River had case by lowprevalence. The research design was conducted by cross sectional method where measurementand observation was conducted at the same time (once periodic) and sampling purposively.Then, data analyses got by chi square (X2) to determinate a correlation and the strength wasmeasured by odds ratio (OR) value. The result of analyses was show that toilet activities(bathed, washed and water closet) had proved that people used river water would had higherrisk affected by skin diseases than people had not used it. Bath activities was OR = 1,659 thatmeans people had take bath in Siak River would higher affected by skin diseases 1,659 timeshigher than people had not bath in river. Washed cloth activities was OR= 2.032; washed dishand kitchen tools OR = 1,737 and used water closet OR = 2,217. There was not correlationbetween the toilet activities (bath, wash and water closet) with diarrhea disease; significantly, itcaused diarrhea disease usually affected by drinking water that disturbance of digestive system.But, in this research might not proved correlation between the using drinking water withdiarrhea disease. It might caused by few sample or although people didn’t used the water river as drinking water, directly, but still affected by diarrhea. And people percentage affected bydiarrhea disease was great in 25 percent.

Abstract

uality of territorial water there are difference that is in Island of Sironjong, Island of Sirandahand Island of Pasumpahan brightness 7 metre, salinitas 30 ‰, degree of acidity (pH) 8, airtemperature 28°C and water temperature 30°C. While, in island of Sikuai brightness 5 metre,salinitas 29‰, pH 7, and water temperature 28°C. This difference is assumed by because inIsland of Sikuai stand up wisata resort and hotel. Result of coral covery of manta-tow live inIsland of Sironjong and Island of Sikuai (Coral Encrusting) with mean coral covery live equal to11 - 30% (category of II), in Island of Sirandah (Coral Heliopora) and Island of Pasumpahan(Coral Massive) with mean mount rock tutupan live equal to 31 - 50% (category of III). Resultof line transect, percentage of coral covery live at location islands research of mean in acondition heavy damage ( 0-24 %) and damage ( 25-49%). highest coral covery there are inIsland of Pasumpahan equal to 47,50% (damage) in Island of Sirandah 46,5 is% (damage), andin Island of Sikuai 23 % (heavy damage), while lowest coral covery found in Island of Sironjongequal to 15,00% (heavy damage). Mean make an index to diversity which there are in Island ofSironjong is 0,384, Island of Sirandah 0,443, Island of Sikuai 0,674 and Island of Pasumpahan0,375, ( H<1). Mean of diversity of low growth form, low spreading and low stability. Indexmean dominant coral in Island of Sironjong 0,510, In Island of Sirandah 0,705, Island of Sikuai0,737 and Island of Pasumpahan 0,644, (C come near 1) meaning there is type which dominant.

Abstract

his study aims to identify and analyze the condition of land cover in the area of hydropowercathment Koto Panjang area based on Landsat image analysis in 2001 and 2008, knowing theeconomic activity undertaken by people who lived in the area of hydropower cathment KotoPanjang area and its influence on the preservation of the area cathment Hydroelectric KotoPanjang. The method used in this study is to survey, which collected data consists of primarydata and secondary data. Primary data were obtained from interviews and observations madeon society and the natural conditions in the village sample (Ranah Sungkai, Koto Tuo, Tabing)While secondary data obtained from the results of the study and documentation of variouspapres and official reports from various related agencies.Based on analysis of Landsat imagery in 2001 and in 2008, it is known that in the area ofhydropower cathment Koto Panjang area there are 12 land cover types, namely primary uplandforest, secondary upland forests, scrub / shrub, shrub / scrub wetlands, vegetation youngorderly, vegetation the old order, settlement, plantation, dry land farming, dry land farmingmixed with shrubs, open ground, and the water body itself. The forest area is an area thatexperienced the largest reduction of 15.55%. Meanwhile, scrub the area is an area thatexperienced the largest increase of 11.47%.Economic activities undertaken by the public within the area of hydropower cathment KotoPanjang area mostly gardening. Cultivated plantations dominated by rubber and oil palmplantations. Palm oil plantations started a trend by the public since the year 2004/2005 because t thinks the oil palm plantation is more profitable than rubber. While the rubber plant ingeneral they earn less attention to the rules of conservation of soil and water, where most of theterracing was not conducted on lands mostly ride a bicycle. In addition they earn rubbermonoculture is still, there is no innovation to be done heteroculture or agroforestry patterns thatare economically and ecologically more favorable course.

Abstract

This study have been conducted in Kecamatan Pekanbaru Kota, on October-December 2009. Theaim of this research is to know relationship of the community behavior towards free larva index(ABJ) and dengue haemorrhagic fever (DBD). The relationship among education level andeconomy status of community with behavior monitoring free larva index (ABJ) were significant.The others factors (knowledge, attitude, available of infrastructure, and instruction) were notsignificant.

Abstract

Tanjungpinang city has developed so rapidly. This development is feared will give badimpact to the quality of the waters of Riau River Estuary because it deals directly with thevarious activities which taking place in the Tanjungpinang city. This research was carriedout by the method of survey in August 2011; aims to determine the potential and thedistribution of environmental pollution in the waters of Riau River Estuary. Identification ofpollution potential is sourced from marine (marine based) such as fisheries, ship traffic andmooring boats; and from land (land based) mainly urban waste, residential, hotel andrestaurant, tourism, agriculture, industry and mining. The majority of water quality ismeasured has exceeded the quality standard limit of waters Kepmen LH RI. 51/2004 inAppendix III (for marine biota life).

Abstract

A bird is a wildlife which could be found almost in any vegetated environment. The existenceof a bird in one area is very important because it could affect the presence and distribution ofplant species. The research aims to identify species diversity, distribution of bird species,habitat and analyze the relationship of bird species diversity to habitat in urban forest,Pekanbaru Municipal. The research was held in Diponegoro Urban Forest, Arboretum ofForestry Training Hall and Arboretum of Lancang Kuning University. The research wasconducted from March to June, 2011. All bird data were collected using a point countmethod. The vegetation data collected included species, composition and structure byforming a plot measuring. It was found 45 species, 26 families and 10 orders of birds. Thebird species diversity indices (H’) varied between 2.85 and 3.29, the bird average indices (E)varied between 0.87 and 0.9 and species richness indices (R) between 4.67 and 6.70. Thevertical bird distribution was mostly the bird with the upper canopy (35%), middle canopy(34%) and the rest was lower canopy (16%) as well as ground surface (15%). It was alsofound 77 tree species of 30 families. The tree species diversity indices (H’) varied between2.06 and 3.23, the species average indices (E) was between 0.64 and 0.85 and speciesrichness indices (R) was between 4.29 and 7.29. the bird species diversity in Pekanbaruurban forest had a positive correlation to the urban forest making trees.

Abstract

The water system disruption caused by the oil palm has become the issue of the environment.Oil palm plantations rated as the cause of changes in groundwater conditions, for allegedlyusing so much water for growth and production. To clarify these issues will require researchto provide an overview of changes in the water table of oil palm plantations in terms of thewater balance of oil palm plantations. The result showed that the calculation of thepercentage of interception in stands of oil palm has a value of 21.23% of the rainfall.Evapotranspiration in palm oil plantations ranged 68.23-125.63 mm/month, with an averageof 92.05 mm/month or 1104.5 mm/year. The water requirement of oil palm plantations issmaller when compared to the water needs of coconut trees and forest plants such as pine,acacia, segon, rubber and teak.

Abstract

Power plant PLTA Koto Panjang that was built in 1997 is one of energy resourcesthat has great benefit to Riau. For that reason, its sustainability should be retained. Lately,there were environmental problems that became direct threat to the power plant, such asdegradation of catchment area, and erosion and sedimentation. Both of them are caused byintensive land conversion in the upper area.

Abstract

This study wasconducted inFebruary - April2012 in Buatan Lake Waters Pekanbaru City.Theaimed of this study was to determine of the pollution level of Buatan Lake waters base onofphysical, chemicalandbiological parameters. The method used was surveymethod.Samples were takenat4 (four) stationsand5 (five) pointseach stationwith samplingintervaloftimeoncea month. The result of this study showed that physical and chemicalparametersweretemperature 28.7 to 30.8°C, depth 1.4 to 3m, the brightness 46.3 to 70.9cm, pH5.7 to 6,dissolved oxygen 1.11 to 1.55mg/l, BOD54 to 5mg/l, COD 26 to 32mg/l, TSS39 to 48mg/l,total organic matter in the sedimen 22 to 33%, and most of the stasions dominatedbymudsubstrat.Macrozoobenthosfoundas many as3(three) species (Tubifexsp, ChironomusspandHesperocorixasp). The average of macrozoobenthosabundance was791 ind/m2. Base onstatistical analysis (Anova)found that no significant differences abundance between stasionsFcalc.≤ Ftab.was 0.90<4.76), as well as between months. It could be conclude that BuatanLake waters had been heavily polluted, only a few high tolerance organism could be survive.
