Abstract

Habermas’ idea of the public sphere as a space where members of society can develop discussions and debates on public issues has inspired some scholars to interpret the modern development of Muslim societies. The spread of communication technology that includes print and electronic media, has paved the way for the emergence of the public sphere in those societies. Several studies of Indonesian Islam by western scholars also pay attention to the public sphere. Having discussed those studies, this paper argues that, although Habermas’ very notion of the public sphere has been criticised and modified by the scholars, it can be used effectively and developed for further research on Indonesian Islam.

Abstract

The Indonesian nation is being hit by a moral crisis. This is due to mistakes in both policy and operational levels in education, economics, politics and law. Educational institutions especially accused of failing to shape the character, moral and noble character of the students. This phenomenon seems to be the basis for universities to think, implement and develop the paradigm and character education system in line with the spirit of Islamic sharia values. Through Islamic education-based educational model that actualized in the process of education in total and comprehensive provide wide space and opportunity to shape the character and personality of children (students) in accordance with the demands of Islamic values. So in the end, the orientation and the ultimate goal of educational activities to realize the individual (Muslim person) and members of society (Muslim community) who have a high quality of faith, noble, character, knowledgeable and professional can be achieved.

Abstract

Discussing about the development of education in Aceh is not far from the aspect of Aceh’s long history. The development of education in Aceh has run in some phases. Education is very broad but this paper focuses only on aspects of education development in Aceh post-tsunami. Discussions on the development of education in post-tsunami Aceh focus on two aspects, namely formal and informal education. Earthquake and tsunami hit Aceh on December 26, 2004 had extremely changed many aspects of life, including education aspects. The data from the Department of Education reports that 25,000 students and 2,248 teachers died and 2153 school buildings were destroyed or heavily damaged. As a result, Aceh education sectors were in severe condition. It is not exaggerated to say that education in Aceh was coming into "dark ages." After the earthquake and tsunami tragedy, a new Aceh history of education has emerged. Various aids given by countries and international, national, and local NGOs, both formal and informal education has been given opportunities to develop. Education development aimed at two aspects i.e. development of infrastructure and human resources. Changes in both aspects of development have resulted in better education atmospheres in Aceh.

Abstract

This thesis titled contribution PAI teacherin coaching students of Islamic dress code. This research was conductedat SMAN Sabang, which is considered representative for thestudy, because students and teachers are very homogeneous, tribes, nation sand religions. Coaching Islamic dressis one of the tasks that must be implemented PAI teachers, both in school and out of school. Contribution PAI teachers are expected to have relevance to therole of educators in Islam, so that the teachers role info stering ethical PAI Islamic dress can give a good change to students. There are indication some male/female students of Senior High School in Sabang have not beenable to show the Islamic dress code, for example; there are stillhigh school students who do not coverthe genitals asprescribed. Female students appeared their armina public place when mingling with other males, some stillless appropriate towear aveil, even some who wear tights, leotards, transparent, do notwear aveilwhen they are in out of the school environment. It is interesting and needed to further investigation to determine the contribution of PAI teacher in coaching students’ Islamic dress code. The problems of this research are: (1) How the dress code set by the school; (2) What is the contribution of PAI teachers in coaching Islamic dress code for students in Sabang; (3) what are the factors supporting and inhibiting PAI teachers in the coaching of the Islamic dress code. This research is amixing method with method of collecting data through interviews, observation and document study. While the procedure of data processing is by checking, editing, and reducing data then it was classified. The data analysis was descriptive analysis to analyze the data in a way to describe or depictthe data that has been collected as it is. After doing some research, the researcher found that; 1) Ethicsdress that is set the school has met the criteria of Islamic dress code; but students’ practicing islamic dress both in school and out of school is less than perfect. 2) the contribution of PAI teachers in coaching dress codeis good. 3) In coaching, PAI teachers have enabling and inhibiting factors, so that there are students who still dressout of school environment do not meet the criteria of Islamic dress. Tulisan ini berjudul kontribusi guru PAI dalam pembinaan etika berpakaian islami siswa. Penelitian ini dilakukan di SMAN kota Sabang, yang dianggap representatif untuk diteliti, karena siswa dan guru sangat homogen, baik suku, bangsa dan agama. Pembinaan berpakaian islami merupakan salah satu tugas guru PAI yang harus dilaksanakan, baik di sekolah maupun di luar sekolah. Kontribusi guru PAI di sekolah diharapkan mempunyai relevansi dengan peran pendidik dalam Islam, sehingga peran guru PAI dalam pembinaan etika berpakaian islami dapat memberi perubahan yang baik kepada siswa. Ada indikasi sebahagian siswa/i SMAN di kota Sabang belum mampu menunjukkan etika berpakaian islami,misalnya; masih ada siswa SMAN yang tidak menutup aurat sebagai-mana yang disyariatkan.Siswi menampakkan lengan di tempat umum ketika berbaur dengan laki-laki ajnabi, masih kurang tepat dalam memakai jilbab, bahkan ada juga yang memakai celana ketat, baju ketat, transparan, tidak memakai jilbab ketika berada di tempat-tempat selain lingkungan sekolah.Hal ini menarik dan perlu diteliti lebih lanjut untuk mengetahui kontribusi guru PAI dalam pembinaan etika berpakaian islami siswa. Adapun yang menjadi masalah dalam penelitian ini yaitu: (1) Bagaimana etika berpakaian yang diatur oleh sekolah; (2) Apa kontribusi guru PAI dalam pembinaan etika berpakaian islami siswa kota Sabang; (3) Faktor-faktor apa saja pendukung dan penghambat yang dihadapi oleh guru PAI dalam pembinaan etika berpakaian islami. Penelitian ini adalah mixing method, di mana data yang didapatkan penulis di lapangan adalah melalui observasi, wawancara, angket dan studi dokumentasi. Sedangkan prosedur pengolahan data dilakukan dengan checking data, editing data, danreduksi data kemudian diklasifikasikan. Adapun analisis data dilakukan dengan deskriptif analisis untuk menganalisis data dengan cara men-deskripsikan atau menggambarkan data yang telah terkumpul sebagaimana adanya. Setelah melakukan penelitian, penulis mendapatkan bahwa; 1) Etika berpakaian yang diatur sekolah sudah memenuhi kriteria pakaian islami, hanya saja praktek berpakaian islami siswa di sekolah dan luar sekolah masih kurang sempurna. 2) kontribusi guru PAI dalam pembinaan etika berpakaian sudah baik. 3) Dalam pembinaan, guru PAI mempunyai faktor pendukung dan penghambat, sehingga masih ada siswa yang berpakaian di luar lingkungan sekolah yang tidak memenuhi kriteria pakaian islami. Abstract

Abstract

Abstract : Sufism has influenced the religious life of Banjarese Muslims in South Kalimantan since the 18th century up to now. The tendency to combine ethical Sufism of al-Ghazali and metaphysical Sufism of Ibn Arabi, and the veneration of Sufi masters in the reading ritual of their hagiographies, and the emergence of certain heterodox Sufi  sects, all of these can be found along history of Islam in this region. On the other hand, there are social changes that have also influenced the colour of Sufism developed in certain period. In the 18th century, orthodox Sufism fought against pantheism which was presumably came from Hindu origin, but in the 19th and early 20th century, Sufism became a social movement, namely a certian Sufi Order that was involved in the war against the Dutch. In the later period, Sufism became the source of moral and spiritual strength in the face of social, cultural and political crisis. Moreover, since the Reformation Era, Sufi masters and their followers have become potential allies as voters for politicians.Keywords : sufism, banjar, tradition, social changes Abstrak : Tasawuf telah mempengaruhi kehidupan keagamaan Muslim Banjar di Kalimantan Selatan, sejak abad ke-18 hingga sekarang. Kecenderungan untuk menggabungkan tasawuf etis al-Ghazali dan tasawuf metafisis Ibn Arabi, penghormatan terhadap tokoh-tokoh sufi dalam ritual pembacaan manakib, dan munculnya kelompok-kelompok tasawuf sempalan, semua ini dapat ditemukan sepanjang sejarah Islam di daerah ini. Di sisi lain, ada berbagai perubahan sosial yang juga mempengaruhi corak tasawuf yang berkembang di masa tertentu. Pada abad ke-18, tasawuf ortodoks harus berhadapan dengan panteisme, yang diduga berasal dari Hinduisme, tetapi pada abad ke-19 dan awal abad ke-20, tasawuf menjadi gerakan sosial, yaitu tarekat tertentu yang terlibat dalam perang melawan Belanda. Dalam periode berikutnya, tasawuf menjadi sumber kekuatan moral dan spiritual dalam menghadapi krisis sosial, budaya dan politik. Selain itu, sejak Era Reformasi guru-guru tasawuf dan para pengikut mereka, menjadi sekutu-sekutu potensial sebagai pemilih bagi para politisi. Kata kunci : Tasawuf, banjar, tradisi, perubahan sosial.

Abstract

The evolusionist and functionalist approaches to religion are generally considered less sympathetic if not antipathy to religious phenomena. This is why, some western scholars propose another approach to study religion called ‘phenomenological’ approach. There have been a number of phenomenological studies of religion, but mostly not of  Islam. This article tries to fill in the gap by describing and analyzing the Islamic conception of intention (niyyah) developed by al-Sayuthi and al-Ghazali. As a jurist, al-Sayuthi explores different formal rules on niyyah in Islamic jurisprudence, while al-Ghazali as a Sufi, tries to deepen the meaning of niyyah in relation to one’s sincerity to God. Apart from this difference, both conceptions of niyya indicate that as believers, Muslims always attempt to live in the sacred space and time, and make their speech and deed sacred based on the niyyah. Thus, niyya is the very basis of Muslim religious life.

Abstract

Pegawai Inspektorat Kabupaten Aceh Timur sebagai aparat pengawas internal pemerintah mempunyai tugas pokok melakukan pengawasan dan pembinaan diseluruh instansi dilingkungan pemerintah Kabupaten Aceh Timur. Institusi pengawasan  diharapkan dapat menjadi  detektor dini untuk mengetahui terjadinya  penyimpangan dalam pelaksanaan tugas dilingkungan pemerintah Kabupaten Aceh Timur. Walaupun Inspektorat tidak secara langsung melayani masyarakat namun peran Inspektorat sangat diharapkan masyarakat dalam memberikan melakukan pembinaan dan usaha mengurangi praktek-praktek KKN dilingkungan pemerintah Kabupaten Aceh Timur.Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui bagaiamana hubungan atara pendidikan, motivasi dan budaya kerja dengan kinerja pegawai Inspektorat Kabupaten Aceh Timur .Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa hubungan antara pendidikan dengan kinerja pegawai Inspektorat Kabupaten Aceh Timur adalah tidak signifikan.

Abstract

The article will discuss various viewpoints on the issues affecting women in Islam, and how they influence the views regarding women education. Their views generally can be divided into conservative, progressive and philosophical. All these views, in general, regard that like men, women are obliged to search for knowledge. In Indonesia, since the 19th century, women have already been involved in learning religion. However, for some cultural reasons, in this period, the access for women to modern education was still limited. On the other hand, from the 20th century up to now, like male Muslims, Indonesian female Muslim have more opportunies in education. Moreover, the symbolic-philosophy of complementary relations between male and female can also become an alternative to conservative or liberal philosophy of education

Abstract

This writing describes the concept of “ahl al kitab” on the context of political aspect in Indonesia. The main purpose of the writing is to show the existence of ‘ahl kitab’ in relation to the political stage in Indonesia. The methodology of the writing is using normative approaches in order to be able to find out the extent of ‘ahli kitab’ on the context of political aspect in Indonesia. It is show that Islam gives a response to the existence of other religions. Muhammad prophet states that Islam is a continuity of previous religious. The discourse of ‘ahl al Kitab’ on political aspect in Indonesia is related to existence of this statement as a position in between secular and Islamic state. It is realize that the extent of ‘ahl kitab’ concept that covers all religions in Indonesia is still have a problem concerning the existence of religion and believe school that still illegitimate.  In fact, the Muslim scholars in Indonesia are attempt to extent the concept of ‘ahl al Kitab’ in order the existence of other religions are accepted as will religions, including inter married religions.
