Abstract

Depik, Rasbora tawarensis is an endemic species in Lake Laut Tawar, Indonesia, and this species has been listed as threatened species. Reproductive biology data is one of the important information to strategise conservation plan. This paper reported the spawning ground of the depik, hence this paper is contributing the additional importance information on the reproductive biology of R. in relation to provide comprehensive our understanding on the reproductive biology of this species. The study was conducted during July to November 2009 in Lake Laut Tawar. A total of 13 spawning grounds were detected in the study where the locations are distributed in five villages namely, five locations in Mendale, two locations in Kelitu,   two locations in Gegarang, three locations in Bewang dan one location in Pedemon. However, only four sites remained active in the dry season i.e. two sites in Kelitu and two sites in Gegarang villages.

Abstract

The objective of the present study was to examine the intensity and prevalence of ectoparasites on banana shrimp (Penaeus sp.) harvested from aquaculture ponds along western coast of Aceh Province, Indonesia. The study was conducted from March to May 2016 at 4 locations namely: Cot Jeumpa, Aceh Besar District; Kuala Unga, Aceh Jaya District; Kuala Tadu, Nagan Raya District and Kuala Batee, Aceh Barat Daya District. The samples were analyzed for ectoparasite at Quarantine Laboratory of Fish, Quality Control and Safety of The Fishing Yield, Aceh Besar. A total of 140 shrimps were collected during the study (35 shrimps every location). The results showed that there were three species of ectoparasite were recorded during the study; Zoothamnium sp., Vorticella sp., Epistylis sp. While, Zoothamnium sp. has the highest intensity and prevalence with the values of 20 ind/shrimp and 36%, respectively. According to sampling location, the highest intensity and prevalence were found in Cot Jeumpa, Aceh Besar and Kuala Tadu, Nagan Raya, while the lower intensity and prevalence were recorded in Kuala Batee, Aceh Barat Daya and Kuala Unga, Aceh Jaya. In addition, the ectoparasites were mostly found at pleopoda and pereopoda organs. It is concluded that there are three species of ectoparasites that infected Penaeus sp. with the highest intensity and prevalence were Zoothamnium sp.Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui intensitas dan prevalensi ektoparasit pada udang pisang (Penaeus sp.) yang berasal dari tambak pada 4 lokasi di pesisir pantai Barat Provinsi Aceh. Udang di ambil dari lokasi Cot Jeumpa Kabupaten Aceh Besar, Kuala Unga Kabupaten Aceh Jaya, Kuala Tadu Kabupaten Nagan Raya dan Kuala Batee, Kabupaten Aceh Barat Daya. Sampel udang diambil secara acak sejumlah 140 ekor (35 udang/lokasi). Pemeriksaan sampel dilaksanakan pada Bulan Maret hingga Bulan Mei 2016 di Laboratorium Stasiun Karantina Ikan, Pengendalian Mutu dan Keamanan Hasil Perikanan Kelas I Aceh, Aceh Besar. Pengamatan terhadap infestasi parasit dilakukan dengan cara pembedahan terhadap sampel. Data dianalisis secara deskriptif. Hasil penelitian didapatkan 3 jenis ektoparasit dari golongan Protozoa, yaitu: Zoothamnium sp., Vorticella sp,. dan Episylis sp.. Intensitas dan prevalensi ektoparasit tertinggi ditunjukkan oleh Zoothamnium sp. dengan nilai intensitas 20 ind/ekor dan prevalensi 36%. Prevalensi ektoparasit tertinggi (80%) ditemukan pada sampel udang pisang dari lokasi Cot Jeumpa, Aceh Besar dan Kuala Tadu, Nagan Raya. Sedangkan nilai prevalensi terendah (34%) ditemukan pada tambak di Kuala Batee, Kabupaten Aceh Barat Daya. Intensitas tertinggi (25 ind/ekor) ditemukan di lokasi Kuala Unga, Kabupaten Aceh Jaya. Sedangkan intensitas terendah (14 ind/ekor) pada lokasi Kuala Tadu, Kabupaten Nagan Raya. Secara umum ektoparasit yang menyerang udang pisang paling banyak ditemukan pada organ kaki renang dan kaki jalan. Berdasarkan hasil penelitian dapat disimpulkan bahwa terdapat 3 jenis ektoparasit yang menginfeksi udang pisang dengan tingkat intensitas dan prevalensi tertinggi adalah Zoothamnium sp..

Abstract

The  Tripa  Peat  Swamp  forest  is  located  in  Nagan  Raya  and  Aceh  Barat  Daya districts. The forest has been deforested and converted to agricultural lands. Hence, the objective of the present study was to evaluate the community structure of macrozoobenthos in Tripa peat swamp. Five sampling locations were determinated using purposive random sampling which was focussed in the main river mouths of Tripa, Suak Tripa, Seuneam, Batee and Taduu Rivers. The sediment was collected in three plots (1m x 1m) at every sampling location. The results showed that, there were 34 species of macrozoobenthos recorded during the sampling, it is belonging to 4 classes; Gastropoda, Bivalvia, Crustacea and Insecta.  The species richness were ranged between 1.12 to 1.58, indicates low category. The diversity and evenness indices were ranged between 0.62 to 2.44 and 0.19 to 0.73, respectively; indicates low to moderate values. It was concluded that the macrozoobenthos community of Rawa Tripa was in unstabile condition. Rawa  Gambut  Tripa  terletak  di  Kabupaten  Nagan  Raya  dan  Aceh  Barat  Daya Provinsi Aceh. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui komunitas makrozoobentos di kawasan Rawa Gambut Tripa. Penelitian dilakukan pada bulan Juni dan Juli 2013. Penentuan area dan titik sampling menggunakan metode purposive random sampling berdasarkan  pertimbangan  topografi  kondisi  lingkungan,  yaitu  pada  4  muara sungai utama di kawasan ini. Sampel sedimen diambil menggunakan skop dengan plot (1m x 1m) sebanyak 3 plot pada setiap stasiun, kemudian disaring dan disortir menggunakan tangan (hand sorting). Makrozoobentos yang tertangkap diawetkan dengan  formalin  10%,  selanjutnya  diidentifikasi  di  Laboratorium  Biologi  Laut Jurusan Ilmu Kelautan Fakultas Kelautan dan Perikanan. Hasil penelitian ditemukan 34 spesies makrozoobentos yang tergolong dalam 4 kelas makrozoobenthos yaitu Gastropoda, Bivalvia, Krustacea dan Insekta. Spesies yang paling banyak ditemukan adalah Faunus ater dari kelas Gastropoda. Nilai indeks kekayaan jenis berkisar 1,12- 1,58 tergolong rendah. Nilai Keragaman (H) makrozoobentos di semua stasiun berkisar antara 0,62-2,44 dan tergolong rendah sampai sedang. Nilai indeks keseragaman berkisar antara 0,19-0,73 tergolong rendah sampai dengan sedang, dan indek similaritas makrozoobentos disetiap wilayah tergolong rendah. Dengan demikian  dapat  disimpulkan  komunitas  makrozoobentos  di  kawasan  ini  dalam kondisi labil.

Abstract

The objectives of the present study were to evaluate the food habit and lenght weight relationships of Dermogenys sp. The study was conducted from April to June 2015. The fish were sampled in Alur Hitam River, Bendahara Subdistrict, Aceh Tamiang using hand nets. The sampled fishes were preserved in 10% formalin for further analysis. A total of 136 fish samples were catched during the study. The stomach analysis showed that Formica sp. was predominant food item for Dermogenys sp. (52.53%), followed by Dolichoderus sp. (38.38 %), indicate that Formica and Dolichoderus are the primary foods for Dermogenys sp. Therefore, Dermogenys is classified as an insectivorous food habit. The length of alimentary tract ranged between 1.54 cm to 1.67 cm. The length - weight relationships and condition factor showed that the average b value was 2.753 displayed an allometric negatif growth pattern, while the condition factor value was 103.10 indicate that the water condition in term of prey and predator availability are in balance condition.Penelitian tentang kebiasaan makan dan hubungan panjang berat ikan Dermogenys sp. telah dilakukan pada bulan April-Juni 2015. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui kebiasaan makan dan hubungan panjang berat dan faktor kondisi ikan Dermogenys sp.. Metode yang digunakan pada penelitian ini adalah metode survey, sampel ikan di tangkap di Sungai Alur Hitam Kecamatan Bendahara, Kabupaten Aceh Tamiang dengan menggunaan serok dan langsung diwetkan dengan larutan formalin 10%. Selama penelitian tertangkap 136 ekor ikan Dermogenys sp.. Hasil analisis kebiasaan isi lambung diperoleh semut merah Formica sp. ditemukan pada 71 ekor sampel ikan (52,53%) dan diikuti oleh semut hitam Dolichoderus sp. pada 52 ekor sampel (38,38%) dan kedua jenis makanan tersebut tergolong  kedalam makanan utama dan makanan yang tidak teridentifikasi terdapat pada 19 ekor sampel ikan (14,29%). Panjang rerata usus ikan Dermogenys ±1,54-1,67 cm, sehingga dengan demikian ikan Dermogenys sp. dapat digolongkan sebagai ikan insektifora (pemakan insekta). Hasil analisis hubungan panjang-berat diperoleh nilai koefisien b= 2,753 menunjukkan pola pertumbuhan alometrik negative dan nilai faktor kondisi 103,10 menunjukkan kondisi perairan masih tergolong baik atau stabil.

Abstract

The aims of this research was to determine the optimum concentration of pineapple stem (Ananas comusus) extract in the feed on the growth and protein digestibility of climbing perch (Anabas testudineus). This research was conducted at Aquatic Laboratory in Veterinary Medicine Faculty of Syiah Kuala University on September to November 2014. This research used six treatments with four replicates. The treatments were 0%, 5%, 7.5%, 10%, 12.5%, and 15% pineapple extracts in the diet. The fish fed three times a day at feeding level of 5% body weight for 60 days. The result showed that weight gain ranged from 0.448 g to 1.678 g, the specific growth rate ranged from 0.039% day-1 to- 0.973% day-1, the daily growth rate ranged from 0.007 g day-1 to 0.028 g day-1, and feed conversion ratio ranged from 2.537-7.829, feed efficiency ranged from 12.868% to 40.222%, and protein digestibility ranged from 74% - 86.7%. The ANOVA test showed that addition of pineapple stem extract on the feed gave a significant effect on growth performance, feed conversion ratio, feed efficiency of   climbing perch and the optimum concentration of pineapple stem extract in feed was 5%. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menentukan konsentrasi optimum ekstrak batang nanas (Ananas comusus) dalam pakan untuk meningkatkan pertumbuhan dan daya cerna protein pakan pada ikan betok (Anabas testudineus). Penelitian ini dilakukan di Laboratorium Akuatik Fakultas Kedokteran Hewan Universitas Syiah Kuala pada bulan September hingga November 2014. Penelitian terdiri dari 6 taraf perlakuan dan 4 ulangan.  Perlakuan yang diuji adalah perbedaan konsentrasi ekstrak batang nanas dalam pakan, yaitu 0%, 5% , 7,5% , 10% , 12,5% dan 15% . Ikan beri pakan tiga kali sehari sebanyak 5% dari biomassa selam 60 hari. Hasil penelitian diperoleh pertumbuhan bobot berkisar 0,448 g - 1,678 g, laju pertumbuhan spesifik 0.039% perharisampai 0.973% perhari, laju pertumbuhan harian berkisar antara 0,007 g perhari – 0,028 g perhari, sedangkan rasio konversi pakan berkisar antara 2,537-7,829, efisiensi pakan berkisar antara 12,868% - 40,222 %, dan daya cerna protein berkisar 74% - 86,7%,  nilai tertinggi pada setiap parameter uji dijumpai pada perlakuan 5% ekstrak batang nanas. Hasil uji ANOVA menunjukkan bahwa penambahan ekstrak batang nanas dalam pakan berpengaruh nyata terhadap pertumbuhan bobot, pertumbuhan spesifik, pertumbuhan harian, konversi pakan, dan efisiensi pakan ikan betok, serta hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa penambahan ekstrak batang nanas dalam pakan meningkatkan daya cerna protein ikan betok (Anabas testudineus). Konsentrasi ekstrak batang nanas terbaik pada penelitian ini adalah 5%.

Abstract

The whitespotted grouper Epinephelus coeruleopunctatus is one of the commercial marine fish species occurred in the coastal waters of Padang city, Indonesia. The population of the whitespotted grouper has been declining over last decade. Unfortunately, there was a lack of information on the biology of this species was available. Hence, the objectives of the study were to examine the length-weight relationships and condition factors of the whitespotted grouper harvested from coastal waters of Padang city, Indonesia. The fish sampling was carried out from April to October 2013. The fish samples were weighed for total body weight and measured for total length. The result showed that the male grouper has W = (3.1538  10 –5) L 2.8613,  while the female has W= (3.8617  10–5)  L 2.8384. Both sexes male and female displayed the negative growth pattern.

Abstract

The objective of the present study was to inventory the marine commercial fishes in Simeulue waters, Aceh Province, Indonesia. Sampling was conducted on August 2017. The sampling was conducted in fish landing and direct sampling by using handline hooks and casting net. A total of 77 species of marine commercial fishes belong to 7 orderS, 26 families and 54 genera were recorded during the study. Serranidae was a predominant family with 14 species followed by Lutjanidae with 13 species and Carangidae 9 species

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to determine the characteristics of nesting habitat of sea turtle in Lhoknga beach. The observation was conducted at three locations from January to March 2016. The study showed that the coastal slope average ranges 1.03 ° - 1.38 °. The average of nest temperature was 28.05 °C to 29.47 °C (inside the nest) and from 28.77 ° C to 29.95 ° C (at the surface of the nest). The width beach at high tide ranges from 20.17 m to 21.83 m and 31 m to 33.83 m at low tide. The nest humidity ranges from 20.5% -24.15%. There were six species of coastal vegetation recorded during the study, where station 1 has higher of density and diversity of the coastal vegetation. In general, Lhoknga Beach is suitable for nesting of the sea turtle. A total of 13 sea turtles (Lepidochelys olivacea) were nesting during the study, where station 1 had higher of nesting frequency.

Abstract

The objective of the present study was to evaluate the migration time of glass eels (Anguilla spp.)  in the estuary of  Lambeuso River, Aceh Jaya District, Indonesia. The survey was done in March and June 2015.  The sampling location was determined based on an initial survey during February 2015 by considering the river condition. Based on initial survey there are no glass eels were recorded during noon time, and therefore the sampling was focused at night. The sampling was done four times a month (weekly basis) for three months (12 times in total) using trap nets based on Hijri Calendar. The trap was settled up to opposite direction of tide (seaward) from 18.00 PM to 06.00 AM  and the catches glass eels were monitoring one-hour interval.  A total of 131 glass eels were sampled during the study, where the samples were only caught on first (new month) and fourth week (old month) base on Hijri Calender  during spring tide and  no glass eels were sampled during second and third weeks. It was concluded that the migration time of the glass eels (Anguilla spp.) in Lambeso Rivers is during the dark moon at the new and old month of Hijri Calendar

Abstract

The objective of the research was to evaluate the length-weight relationships and condition factors of five dominant species of groupers harvested from Pulo Aceh waters, Aceh Besar District, Aceh Province, Indonesia. The target species are Plectropomus leopardus, P. laevis, P. maculatus, Epinephelus fuscoguttatus and E. bleekeri. The samples were collected from fish landing in Ulee Lheue  and Ujung Pancu from April to July 2016. A total of 40 samples of each species were measured for total length (mm) and weighed for body weight (g). The data were calculated for length weight relationship using an Allometrict Linear Model (LAM). The results showed that Plectropomus leopardus, P. laevis, Epinephelus fuscoguttatus and E. bleekeri have the b values lower than 3 indicate a negative allometric growth pattern, while P. maculatus has the b value higher than 3 indicate a positive allometric growth pattern. The highest condition factor was found in P. leopardus  and P. laevis and the lower condition factor was recorded in E. fuscoguttatus. However, in general the relative weight condition factor was above 100, indicating a balance of prey and predators densities.Telah dilakukan  penelitian tentang hubungan panjang berat dan faktor kondisi lima spesies ikan kerapu Famili Serranidae yang dominan tertangkap di Perairan Pulo Aceh, Kabupaten Aceh Besar. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis pola pertumbuhan dan faktor kondisi lima spesies ikan dari Famili Serranidae dari perairan Pulo Aceh, yaitu; Plectropomus leopardus, P. laevis, P. maculatus,  Epinephelus fuscoguttatus dan E. bleekeri. Sampel ikan adalah hasil tangkapan nelayan yang didaratkan di Ulee Lheue dan Ujung Pancu, sampling dilakukan pada April sampai Juli 2016. Hasil pengukuran panjang dan berat terhadap 40 ekor ikan pada masing-masing spesies dianalisis dengan Linear Allometrict Model (LAM). Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa  Plectropomus leopardus, P. laevis, Epinephelus fuscoguttatus dan E. bleekeri memiliki pola pertumbuhan allometrik negatif dan P. maculatus memiliki pola pertumbuhan allometrik positif. Faktor kondisi tertinggi pada ikan P. leopardus dan P. laevis dan terendah pada ikan E. fuscoguttatus. Faktor kondisi berat relatif secara umum berada diatas 100, menunjukkan adanya keseimbangan kepadatan prey dan predator.
