Abstract

This study was conducted to determine the effect of different doses of ovaprim on latency time of spawning, hatching rate, and survival of fish larvae (Pangasianodon hiphopthalmus). Experimental design used was Randomized Complete Design (CRD) with four treatments, each with three replication. The treatments including 0 ml, 0.3 ml, 0.6 ml and 0.9 ml ovaprim per kg of body weight of fish. Data collected consisted of latency time of spawning, hatching rate, and survival rate of larvae. The results showed that treatment with different doses of ovaprim hormones resulted in a significant influence on latency time of spawning, egg hatchability and survival rate of larvae. It was found that 0.6 ml ovaprim could increase the latency time of spawning, egg hatchability and survival rate of larvae. The average latency time of larvae was 529 minutes, hatching rate was 80,86% and survival rate of larvae was 83,33%.

Abstract

The research intended to determine the optimal concentration of honey supplemented in sperm dilution to improve sperm motility, fertilization and eggs hatchability of catfish (Clarias sp). Experimental design used was a Complete Randomized Design (CRD) with four treatments each with three replications. The concentration of honey used astreatments were A (0 mL + 100 mL of physiological NaCl), B (0.60 mL + 99.40 mL of physiological NaCl), C (0.65 mL + 99.35 mL of physiological NaCl), D (0.70 mL + 99.30 mL of physiological NaCl). Parent used consisted of one female with 1.5 kg weight and the male parent with 1 kg weight.  Sperm dilution containers used was 12 plastic cups and the container fertilization and hatching eggs container used was 12 brass plates.  Spermatozoa motility observation performed immediately after dilution process. Fertilization observation was performed after 12 hours of fertilization process, and egg hatchability observation was performed after 60 hours of fertilization.  The research results showed that the addition of honey in sperm dilution contributed significant effect on spermatozoa motility, fertilization and eggs hatchability. The addition of 0.70 mL honey in sperm dilution was the best indicated by the average percentage of spermatozoa motility 83.33%, fertilization 82.50% and eggs hatchability 79.67%.   Keywords: Honey, sperm dilution, spermatozoa motility, fertilization, eggs hatchability.

Abstract

Experimental design used was a Complete Randomized Design (CRD) with three times repetition of four treatments. The concentration of honey addition used for treatment are A (0 ml of honey in 100 ml of physiological NaCl), B (0.60 ml of honey in 99.40 ml of physiological NaCl), C (0.65 ml of honey in 99.35 ml of physiological NaCl), D (0.70 ml of honey in 99.30 ml of physiological NaCl). Parent used consisted of five female parent and five male parent with 250 – 500 mg weight. Sperm dilution containers used was 12 plastic cups and the container fertilization and hatching eggs container used was 12 brass plates.  Spermatozoa motility observation performed immediately after dilution process. Fertilization observation was performed after 12 hours of fertilization process, and Egg Hatchability observation was performed after 60 hours of fertilization.  The observation results showed that the addition of honey in sperm dilution contributed significant effect on spermatozoa motility, fertilization and eggs hatchability of Nile Tolapia (Oreochromis niloticus). This observation showed that the addition of 0.70 ml of honey in a sperm dilution was the best treatment seen from the average percentage of spermatozoa motility (73,33 %), fertilization (80,00%) and eggs hatchability (77,33 %.)
