Abstract

ABSTRACT This study was conducted to evaluate the effect of dietary phytase supplementation on phosphorus (P) bioavailability of the diets and growth performance of catfish (Clarias sp) as well as P loading. Four experimental diets were used in this experiment. Diet (A), as a control, was supplemented with inorganic P; diet (B) supplemented with phytase, without inorganic P; diet (C ) supplemented with phytase and citric acid, without inorganic P; and diet (D) without phytase and inorganic P. Phytase was added to the diet at 50 mg/100 g soy bean meal and pollard. Ten fishes with initial body weight of 6.3 ± 0.05 g distributed into an aquarium. Fish fed on the diets for 60 days, there time daily, at satiation. Results indicated that P digestibility increased from 68.55% to 86.1% by the addition of phytase. P digestibility in diet B and C was higher than diet A and D. Daily growth rate of fish from diet B and C were significantly higher than that of diet D, but similar with diet A. Food conversion ratio (FCR) of fish from diet A, B, and C was better than diet D. P concentration in the whole body, bone, and plasma, of fish from diet A,B, and C was higher than diet D, but the Ca and Zn concentration  in the whole body, bone, plasma was the same in all treatments. Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui kadar kromium optimum yang dapat meningkatkan resistensi terhadap stres dan mengkaji peran kromium dalam meningkatkan respons imunitas ikan gurami (Osphronemus gouramy, Lac.). Empat macam ransum isoprotein dan isokalori dengan kandungan kromium Cr+3-ragi sebesar 0.0 ppm (pakan A), 1.5 ppm (pakan B), 3.0 ppm (pakan C) dan 4.5 ppm (pakan D) diberikan pada ikan contoh dengan bobot 25±2.18 g selama 40 hari. Pada akhir pemeliharaan, ikan diberi perlakuan stres suhu dingin ? -9ºC selama 5 menit untuk mengetahui resistensinya terhadap stres. Contoh darah diambil pada jam ke 0, 0.6, 2, 3, 4, 5, 7, 9, dan 18 pasca stres. Kadar glukosa darah meningkat dan mencapai nilai puncak 100.00, 58.31, 58.86 and 88.43 mg/dl masing-masing untuk perlakuan A, B, C dan D. Kadar kortisol plasma darah pada perlakuan A, B, C dan D masing- masing adalah 53.22, 20.65, 31.67, 40.57 μg/dl. Ikan sisa sebanyak 20 ekor, diinfeksi bakteri Aeromonas hydrophyla 0.1 ml dengan kepadatan 106 cfu/ml, dipelihara selama 14 hari  untuk mengetahui respons imunitasnya. Perubahan total  leukocyte dan total immunoglobuline pada perlakuan B masing- masing mencapai 272% dan 10.11 μg/dl, sedangkan nilai  hematocrite pada sebelum dan sesudah infeksi adalah 51.87 dan 44.77% dengan jumlah erytrosite mencapai 399 500 dan 239 500 sel/ mm3. Perlakuan B disarankan dapat digunakan untuk menghasilkan ikan yang paling resisten terhadap stres dan yang dapat meningkatkan respons imunitasnya.Kata kunci: Kromium, glukosa darah, stres, imunitas, ikan gurami.

Abstract

A triplicate experiment was conducted to determine the effect of dietary chromium on the growth performance of baung fish (Hemibagrus nemurus Blkr). This experiment used four diets contain different level of chromium yeast (0.0, 1.47, 3.20, and 4.59 mg/kg). Twenty fish with the initial body weight 7.0 ± 0.2 g were placed in each aquarium (50x40x35 cm). Fish were fed on the experimental diets three times daily, at satiation for 60 days. The results showed that chromium diets produced body protein level, ratio RNA/DNA and protein retention higher than that of non chromim diet. However, diet contained chromium yeast 3.20 mg/kg produced the highest protein deposition. Finally, it also produced the highest daily growth rate and feed efficiency. The liver and carcass glycogen level increased as the chromium level of diets was elevated, on the other side, body lipid level decreased as the chromium level of diets was elevated.Keywords: chromium, baung, growth.

Abstract

Triplicate experiment was conducted using 4-day-old larval tilapia Oreochromis niloticus. Thirty fishes were cultured in aquarium contained 2 litres water for 14 days. During rearing period, fish were fed on Artemia nauplii enriched with fish oil, corn oil or coconut oil. It was found that brain volume of fish fed on Artemia enriched with corn oil was significantly larger than two other groups of fish. The brain volume of fish related with linoleic acid content in the diet, which was highest in Artemia enriched with corn oil. Key words: Fish oil. corn oil, coconut oil, brain, fatty acid, tilapia. Oreochromis niloticus.   ABSTRAK Tiga puluh ekor larva ikan nila umur 4 hari dipelihara di dalam stoples berisi 2 1 air selama 14 hari. Selama pemeliharaan. larva diberi makan Artemia yang telah diperkaya dengan minyak ikan. minyak kelapa atau minyak jagung. Di akhir penelitian, larva ikan yang diberi makan Artemia yang diperkaya dengan minyak jagung memiliki volume otak (8,33 x 105 μm3) yang lebih besar dari otak ikan di dua perlakuan lainnya. Hal ini diduga sebagai akibat tingginya kandungan asam lemak linoleat Artemia setelah diperkaya dengan minyak jagung. Namun. perbedaan komposisi asam lemak Artemia di tiga perlakuan mempunyai pengaruh yang sama terhadap pertumbuhan larva ikan nila. Abstract

A triplicate experiment was conducted to evaluate cassava (Manihot esculenta) meal as alternative carbohydrate source for wheat flour in the diet of common carp (Cyprinus carpio L.). The diet contained 0%, 25%, 50%, 75%, and 100% of wheat flour were replaced by cassava meal in five treatment groups. Abstract

This experiment was conducted to investigate blood glucose performance of giant gouramy (Osphronemus gouramy, Lac.) to environmental changes. Fish with body weight of about 52,15 g was used in the experiment. A hundred and twenty fish were subjected to stress by moving them to another aquarium containing cooler water for 5 minute before put them back to the origin aquarium. The stress treatments were Δ 0°C (A), Δ-3°C (B), Δ-6°C(C), and Δ-9°C(D). Blood glucose was measured at 0, 1, 2, 3, 4 and 5 hours post stress, each for 5 fish. During stress treatment, the survival offish were recorded. To study the role of insulin activation on reducing the stress effects, thirty fish were injected with insulin 2 IU/100 g body weight before subjected them to stressar. Blood glucose level of fish subjected to temperature stress of Δ-9°C was the greatest. The blood glucose response to temperature changes was linear, Y = 4,4543 X + 35,553 with R2 = 0,09976. The survival rate of fish was 100% for all treatments. Injected of insulin 2 IU/100 g body weight was able to reduce hyperglycemia that caused by stress. Key words: Blood glucose, giant gouramy, Osphronemus gouramy, stress   ABSTRAK Penelitian ini dilakukan dengan tujuan untuk mengetahui performa glukosa darah ikan gurami (Osphronemus gouramy, Lac.) dalam merespon perubahan suhu lingkungan. Ikan berbobot rata-rata 52,15 g sebanyak 120 ekor diberi stres dengan cara diangkat dan dipindahkan ke suatu wadah yang bersuhu lebih dingin selama 5 menit dan dikembalikan lagi ke wadah mula-mula. Perlakuan stres perubahan suhu dingin tersebut adalah A (Δ 0°C), B (Δ- 3°C), C (Δ-6°C) dan D (Δ-9°C). Glukosa darah diukur dari 5 ekor ikan pada jam ke 0, 1, 2, 3, 4 dan 5 jam pascastres. Kelangsungan hidup dihitung pada saat perlakuan stres. Untuk melihat peran aktivasi insulin dalam menekan efek stres, ikan sebanyak 30 ekor diinjeksi insulin 2 iu/100 g bobot badan sebelum diberi stres. Kadar glukosa darah ikan gurame yang diberi stres perubahan suhu dingin sebesar Δ-9°C mengalami peningkatan paling besar. Respon glukosa darah terhadap stres perubahan suhu tersebut berpola linier Y= 4,4543 X + 35,553, dengan R2 = 0,9976. Perlakuan tersebut menghasilkan kelangsungan hidup yang sama yaitu 100%. Abstract

A triplicate experiment was conducted to evaluate the addition of probiotic Bacillus sp. into the diet on feed convertion and growth of catfish Pangasius hypophthalmus. Twenty fish with an initial body weight of 1,85 ± 0,09 g were stocked in a 60-1 aquarium. During rearing period, fish were fed on the diet three times a day at satiation. Prior the feeding, probiotic (contained Bacillus sp. 4,2x106 CFU.ml-1) were added into the diet at a dosage of 0, 5, 15 or 25 ml.kg-1 diet. The probiotic were added once a day at the noon. The results showed that maximum protein retention, lipid retention, growth rate, and minimum feed convertion was found in the group of fish fed on the diet supplemented with 15 ml probiotic kg-1 diet. Irrespective to the dosage of probiotic, food consumption and survival rate of fish were the same among the treatments. Key words : Probiotic. Bacillus sp.. catfish Pangasius hypophthalmus.   ABSTRAK Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui dosis yang optimal dari probiotik Bacillus sp. yang ditambahkan pada pakan komersil terhadap konversi pakan dan pertumbuhan benih ikan patin Pangasius hypophthalmus. Dua puluh ekor ikan patin dengan bobot rata-rata 1.85 ± 0,09 g ditebar dalam setiap akuarium frekuensi 50x40x35 cm yang diisi air 60 1. Selama 40 had masa pemeliharaan. ikan diberi pakan buatan berkadar protein 27% dengan frekwensi tiga kali sehari, at satiation. Sebelum diberikan ke ikan, pakan tersebut ditambah produk probiotik (mengandung Bacillus sp. 4,2 x 106 CFU/ml) dengan dosis 0, 5, 15 atau 25 ml/kg pakan. Pakan yang mengandung probiotik hanya diberikan sekali setiap hari, yakni pada pukul 13.00. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa adanya penambahan probiotik dalam pakan sampai dosis 15 ml/kg pakan menyebabkan terjadinya peningkatan retensi protein, retensi lemak dan laju pertumbuhan harian ikan, serta menurunkan konversi pakan. Penambahan probiotik lebih lanjut (25 ml/kg pakan) menurunkan kinerja pertumbuhan di atas. Sementara itu. kelompok ikan di setiap perlakuan mengkonsumsi pakan dalam jumlah yang tidak berbeda nyata, yaitu antara 132,43 g sampai 137,84 g. Hasil penelitian juga menunjukkan bahwa penambahan probiotik di dalam pakan tidak memberikan adanya perbedaan yang nyata terhadap tingkat kelangsungan hidup ikan, yaitu antara 98,3% - 100%. Abstract

This study was conducted to find out the health status of humpback grouper fish((´hrtmtileptes altiverts) that are fed on inorganic-iron supplement. Both, thetreatment and the control was tested in anoxia condition. The fish (average weight4.18±0.13 g/ind) was cultured in 60x40x50 cm3 aquarium and stocked by 10indJaquarium. The fish was reared for 10 weeks: and they were fed threetimes/day at satiation. Results shown that the fish fed by non-iron supplement wasmore susceptible than the normal condition; base on the index of leucocytes,nionocytes. phagocytic and MCHC distribution. However, 25 mg Fe/kgsupplement in the diet was increased concentration of Fe by 35% - 100% in liver,intestine, body tissue and enhance fish vitality at anoxia condition. The survivalrate of fish increased by 1.3 times compare to the non-iron supplementation.

Abstract

Suatu penelitian tentang perkembangan enzim pencernaan benih ikan gurame telah dilaksanakan di laboratorium. Benih ikan gurame yang berumur 10-46 hari dengan ukuran 0,7-2,4 cm dan ikan gurame ukuran 6,59-13,97 cm telah digunakan sebagai bahan untuk analisa aktivitas enzim. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa aktivitas protease, lipase dan amilase meningkat sejalan dengan meningkatnya ukuran benih.Kata-kata kunci : enzim pencernaan, benih, ikan gurame

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan mengetahui pengaruh ragi (Saccharomyces cerevisiae) dengan konsentrasi yang berbeda sebagai pakan terhadap pertumbuhan populasi Daphnia sp. Penelitian ini berupa budidaya Daphnia sp. yang diberi pakan kotoran ayam dan ragi. Kotoran ayam yang digunakan adalah kotoran ayam yang sudah dikeringkan dengan konsentrasi 2.4 g/l. Sedangkan ragi yang digunakan adalah ragi roti dengan tiga dosis yang berbeda yaitu 1 g ragi untuk 80 000, 40 000 dan 20 000 Daphnia sp per hari. Dapnia berumur 1-2 hari. Penebaran awal Daphnia sp pada masing-masing perlakuan adalah 100 ekor/liter. Populasi Daphnia sp di dalam media kotoran ayam meningkat sampai hari ke-7, kemudian menurun mulai hari ke-8. Sedangkan yang diberi pakan ragi mencapai puncaknya setelah dipelihara selama 10 hari. Jumlah individu Daphnia spwaktu puncak pada media kotoran ayam adalah 333 ind/liter. Puncak populasi Daphnia sp dengan media ragi lebih tinggi dibandingkan dengan media kotoran ayam (p<0.05). Namun antara berbagai konsentrasi ragi,puncak populasi tersebut tidak berbeda nyata. Puncak populasi pada media dengan konsentrasi 1 g ragi untuk 80 000, 40 000 dan 20 000 ekor Daphnia sp, berturut-turut yaitu 1 603, 1 295 dan 1 082 ind/liter. Konversi pakan ragi meningkat sejalan dengan meningkatnya konsentrasi ragi yaitu 0.5, 1.02, dan 1.6. Bobot tubuh pada saat puncak populasi hampir sama, ini berarti ukuran Daphnia sp pada setiap perlakuan tidak berbeda. Dari hasil penelitian ini dapat disimpulkan bahwa penggunaan ragi dengan konsentrasi 1 g untuk 80 000 ekor Daphnia sp dalam budidaya Daphnia sp menghasilkan nilai konversi pakan terbaik yaitu 0.5. Nilai ini dicapai pada hari ke-10 masa budidaya.Kata kunci: Daphnia, ragi, kotoran ayam.
