Abstract

The experiment was conducted at IPB Experimental Station, Leuwikopo, Dramaga, Bogor, from November 2009 until February 2010 to study the effect of different  nitrogen+potassium rates and harvest intervals on protein and anthocyanin production of waterleaf shoot (Talinum triangulare (Jacq.) Willd). A randomized complete block design was used with three replications of two factors, which were  four N+K  dosages (50 kg urea + 50 kg ha-1 KCl, 50 kg urea + 100 kg ha-1 KCl, 100 kg urea + 50 kg ha-1 KCl, 100 kg urea + 100 kg ha-1 KCl) and three harvest intervals (30, 15, and 10 days).  The results showed that interaction of 100 kg urea + 100 kg ha-1 KCl and 15-day harvest interval produced the highest content (8.29 mg g-1 fresh weight) and production (4.72 g plant-1) of protein.  The interaction of N+K dosages and harvest intervals were not significant in affecting the anthocyanin content.  The highest production of anthocyanin was produced by single treatment of 100 kg urea + 100 kg ha-1 KCl (152.23 µmol plant-1) and 10 days harvest interval (165.47 µmol plant-1), respectively.  Leaf protein levels negatively correlated with anthocyanin content.   Keywords: anthocyanin, fertilizer, harvest interval, protein, Talinum triangulare

Abstract

Drought stress in crop  occurs due to imbalance between water supply and demand.  Crop responses to drought stress  depend on their ecotypes.  This study was aimed at examining the tolerance of the physic nut ecotype to drought stress in inceptisol. This study was conducted at Silviculture greenhouse, Forestry Faculty IPB, from September to December 2007. A Completely Randomized Design with two factors was used in the experiment, i.e. water content (80, 60, and 40 % of field capacity) and physic nut ecotypes (Palu, NTB, IP-A, and IP-P) The results showed that (1) drought reduced stem diameter (31.4%), root length (65.49%) and leaf area (72.73%), and decreased plant dry weight (74.83%),(2) tolerance level of the evaluated physic nuts on the drought stress were moderate tolerance (IP-1A, NTB,  Palu) and sensitive (IP- Pakuwon).   Key words:  physic nut, drought stress, tolerance

Abstract

using complete randomized block design with three replications. The means from each plot were compared by using t-student’s test. Application of inorganic fertilizer resulted in a higher shoot production (at 6 week after planting) and a better quality leaves compared to other treatment. This research revealed that high quality waterleaf can be indicated by some criterias, i.e., higher content of primary metabolites (sugar and protein), secondary metabolites (phenolic, flavonoid, and chlorophyll), and antioxidant capacity (low IC50 value). Therefore, application of inorganic fertilizer in wet season is recommended to produce high yields and high quality water leaf. Keywords: sugar, protein, phenolic, flavonoid, DPPH

Abstract

The effects of NPK fertilization and plant spacing on leaf anthocyanin production of Talinum triangulare (Jacq.) Willd. were studied. A factorial experiment was used to study the combination of two factors i.e. NPK fertilization (no fertilization, NPK, NP, NK, and PK) and plant spacing (100 cm x 45 cm, 100 cm x 60 cm, 100 cm x 75 cm). These combinations were arranged in randomized block design, with three replications. The result showed that there was no effect of plant spacing and interaction between two factors. Application of NP (minus K) fertilizer gave the lowest value for almost all parameter except shoot/root ratio. This result suggested that fertilization played significant role in increasing anthocyanin production and the limiting factor was potassium.   Key words: Talinum triangulare, NPK  fertilization, anthocyanin production

Abstract

The study was conducted to investigate the effect of different organic manures and their residues on the production of vegetable soybean. The experiments were conducted at IPB Research Station in Cikarawang, Darmaga, Bogor; in  September 2005 to May 2006 and August to December 2006. Single or combination of organic manures (chicken manure, green manure, composts and rice hull ash) was applied in the first experiment; while effect of the residues were investigated in the second experiment. The treatments were arranged in a Completely Randomized Design with 3 replications. Single or the combination of organic manures and the residues did not result in significant difference in all agronomic characters, but chicken manure tended to be the best organic manure when it was used as single application. From these experiments, the highest number of filled pod was 56/plant and the highest fresh weight of filled pod was 48 g/plant from the actual population of + 200.000 plants/ha. Additional result from the experiment was that rice hull ash significantly reduced the intensity of plant pest by 75% from that of control.   Key words:  vegetable soybean, organic fertilizers, residual effects

Abstract

ABSTRAKPercobaan ini bertujuan untuk mempelajari pengaruh dosis pupuk kandang sapi terhadap pertumbuhan, serapan haradan hasil kedelai organik. Percobaan dilaksanakan pada bulan Mei hingga Agustus 2012 di Blora, Jawa Tengah, Indonesia.Percobaan ini menggunakan rancangan kelompok lengkap teracak dengan faktor tunggal yaitu dosis pupuk kandang sapidengan 4 perlakuan dan 4 ulangan. Dua perlakuan pupuk organik sebagai perlakuan pembanding dan dibandingkan denganperlakuan pupuk kandang sapi terbaik menggunakan uji t. Empat perlakuan pupuk kandang sapi yang digunakan yakni 0,7.5, 10, 15 ton pupuk kandang sapi ha?dengan jarak tanam 40 cm x 20 cm dan 2 benih per lubang tanam. Dua perlakuanpembanding organik yakni (1) 7.5 ton pupuk kandang kambing ha-1?dengan jarak tanam 40 cm x 20 cm dan 2 benih perlubang tanam, dan (2) 7.5 ton pupuk kandang sapi ha-1?-1dengan jarak tanam 40 cm x 25 cm x 15 cm dan 1 benih per lubangtanam. Dua ton abu sekam haditambahkan pada semua petak. Hasil percobaan menunjukkan bahwa aplikasi 7.5 ton pupukkandang sapi ha-1?-1?atau 7.5 ton pupuk kandang kambing halebih efisien diaplikasikan dalam produksi kedelai organikdibandingkan perlakuan lainnya.Kata kunci: abu sekam, grumosol, musim kemarau, pertanian organik, pupuk kandang kambing

Abstract

Kedelai merupakan salah satu komoditas pangan sumber protein nabati yang memiliki potensi diproduksi dengan sistem pertanian organik. Tujuan percobaan ini untuk mendapatkan dosis pupuk kandang kambing optimal dan cara aplikasi pupuk yang tepat untuk meningkatkan produksi kedelai organik. Percobaan dilaksanakan di Kebun Cikarawang, Bogor pada bulan April sampai Agustus 2014. Percobaan ini menggunakan rancangan kelompok lengkap teracak dengan dua faktor perlakuan terdiri atas dosis pupuk kandang kambing (0, 6, 12, dan 18 ton/ha) dan cara aplikasi pupuk (alur dan sebar) dengan tiga ulangan. Hasil percobaan menunjukkan bahwa pengaruh interaksi dosis dan cara aplikasi pupuk sangat nyata pada bobot kering 100 butir biji namun tidak nyata pada produktivitasnya. Jumlah polong isi per tanaman tertinggi (40,6 polong) dari pemberian 18 ton pupuk kandang kambing/ha dengan produktivitas 2,2 ton/ha. Jumlah polong isi per tanaman terbanyak (27 polong) dihasilkan dari cara aplikasi pupuk dalam alur. Berdasarkan hasil tersebut, dapat disarankan cara aplikasi pupuk alur atau sebar dengan dosis rekomendasi 18 ton pupuk kandang kambing/ha dapat meningkatkan produksi kedelai organik.

Abstract

The experiment was conducted on a Latosol soil at Cikarawang, Bogor, to investigate the response of plant growth, production and seed size of soybean (Glycine mw (L.) Merr.) to applications of chicken manure and micronutrients (Zn, Cu, B). Manure application increased plant growth, yield and seed size. Yield and seed size were highest at the 15 tons manure/ha treatment, without micronutrients. Manure increased P concentrations in leaves and total nutrient uptake, but reduced Ca, Zn, Cu, and B levels. Without manure, the acid soil caused insufficient P availability. Since Ca and Mg were also shown to be in short supply, the soil should be limed with dolomite. This treatment would alleviate N deficiency through better nodule development.

Abstract

Field experiment to study biomass and bioactive compound productions of   Talinum triangulare from different propagules and chicken manure dosages was conducted at Leuwikopo, Dramaga, Bogor, West Java, Indonesia from September to November 2005.  The research used split plot design with 3 replications.  The main plot was propagules (seed and stem cutting) and sub plot was chicken manure dosages (0, 5, 10, and 15 t ha-1). Bioactive compound was determined qualitatively. The results showed that stem cutting gave the highest leaf dry weight (7.78 g plant-1) and tuber dry weight (4.99 g plant-1). The bioactive compounds (alkaloid, steroid, saponin, tannin, and flavonoid) were not influenced by propagules. The dosage of 15 t ha-1 chicken manure gave the highest leaf dry weight (10.73 g plant-1) and tuber dry weight (6.36 g plant-1). The bioactive compound decreased with the increasing chicken manure dosages. Interaction of stem cutting and 15 t ha-1 of chicken manure gave the highest leaf dry weight (12.43 g plant-1).   Bioactive compound and tuber dry weight were not influenced by the interaction of  propagules and chicken manure dosages.   Key words:  Bioactive compound, Talinum triangulare, propagules, chicken manure

Abstract

The objective of the study was to investigate the effect of chicken manure and green manure Calopogonium mucunoides on the growth and production of vegetable soybean under organic farming system. The study was conducted at IPB research station, Leuwikopo, Darmaga, Bogor from June 2004 to March 2005.  The experiment used split plot design with chicken manure dosages (0 and 10 ton/ha) as main plots and seed of green manure dosages (0, 7.5, 15, and 30 ton/ha) as sub plots. Chicken manure significantly resulted in better agronomic characters compared to that of without chicken manure. Green manure significantly increased plant height on 4 to 7 weeks after planting (WAP), number of leaves on 6 WAP. Interaction between chicken manure and green manure significantly influenced fresh weight of root nodule and 100 seeds. Fresh weight of 100 seeds was the highest with the application of either 10 ton chicken manure/ha or 15 kg seed of green manure/ha. Except plant height and number of leaves, generally growth and production of soybean under organic farming system were better than those under conventional farming   Key words: Vegetable soybean, organic farming, chicken manure, green manure, Calopogonium mucunoides
