Abstract

Geographic Information Systems (GIS) are needed to assist national development because GIS can manipulate and analyze geographically-referenced data to support the decision making process of an organization. A problem faced in developing countries is that decision making is not always based on integrated information.This annotated bibliography is compiled for three reasons:1. The lack of GIS research in developing countries.2. Although GIS are potentially useful, because of the limited amount of publish ed research, there is little information available about GIS applications. Thisbibliography presents relevant publications to remedy this deficiency.3. It is believed that geographic information systems in developing countriesneed to be improved to facilitate the use of the integrated, comprehensive in formation to assist the countrys development.This bibliography summarizes GIS procedures in general and GIS on selected countries: Costa Rica, Argentina, India, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, and Indonesia.

Abstract

Geography as a science describing the inter-relationship between nature and human actions, has a particular applicability values. One of the examples is the use of gravity and  space interaction model approach. This approach applies a formula in which inetraction within space an be known; by multiplying total number of population in two (city) areas and the distances between them. This application is very useful to plan infrastructure, particularly for places having low interaction values.

Abstract

Presidential Order no. 6/2012 mentioned explicitly to use ortho-rectifed image for the purposes of national program done by all Indonesian governmental agencies. Policy of uses, control quality, processing and distribution of high resolution of satellite data are regulated by this Order. There are some advantages of implementing this Order particularly in accelerating the national geospatial data and information, however, without synergy use of high resolution imagery (including integration, coordination and harmonization), in the present condition so far some obstacles have been discovered.  Without  synergic actions or approaches, the Order will not provide optimal impact as the main objectives to make more efficient in using the national budget. This article describes the needs of synergy approach to implement the Presidential Order no. 6/2012 concerning the uses, distribution of high remotely sensed imageries.

Abstract

Mengingat peta merupakan segmen penting dalam koleksi perpustakaan, maka peta harus diperlukan dengan baik sebagai entitas atau sesuatu yang harus ada dalam perpustakaan (Strauss, 1972). Beberapa jenis peta seperti peta-peta topografi (rupa bumi) dan peta-peta tematik harus diupayakan agar mudah untuk di "file" dan dicari kembali. Oleh karena itu, urutan penomoran I katalog juga harus teratur dengan baik secara abjad, atas dasar negaralwilayah atau nama lembarnya. Survey yang dilakukan yang biasanya dicantumkan dalam legendalketerangan dan riwayat peta juga menjelaskan mengenai indeks peta yang bersangkutan.Untuk keperluan perpustakaan, peta-peta tersebut tentu diperlukan tempat penyimpanan yang tertata dengan baik, jika jumlah berbagai jenis peta yang dikumpulkan cukup banyak untuk difile, koleksi peta-peta tersebut membutuhkan klasifikasi dan katalogisasi tertentu. Tujuan utama seperti halnya pada sistem klasifikasi manapun, klasifikasi dalampeta adalah untuk mengatur, menata dan menempatkan kembali agar mudah dicari dan dibaca oleh pencari informasi. Oleh karena itu menurut pakar, prinsip ini harus diingat ketika peta-peta diletakan dalam urutan file.

Abstract

Basisdata nama geografi merupakan tempat untuk menghimpun nama-nama geografibeserta informasi atau atribut yang relevan, disebut juga sebagai basisdata spasial nama geografi untuk menghimpun layer-layer nama geografi untuk keperluan pemetaan. Melalui proses yang cukup panjang data nama geografi tersebut diekstrak untuk penyusunan gazetir. Gazetir adalah daftar nama-nama geografi yang diurutkan secara alphabetis berikut informasi yang relevan. Penelitian ini mencoba untuk mengembangkan aplikasi basisdata nama geografi yang biasanya untuk pemetaan, dimanfaatkan untuk penanggulangan bencana. Upaya tersebut adalah dengan mengenali bencana alam yang mungkin akan terjadi pada lokasi rawan bencana. Karakteristik bencana akan dapat dikenali secara spesifik, sehingga akan dapat dianalisis cara menanggulangi bencana yang akan terjadi, dengan menekan seminimal mungkin risiko korban. Tindakan tersebut antara lain dengan pendataan lokasi, dan gedung atau bangunan yang disiapkan untuk pengungsian. Selain itu, bagaimana pergerakan pengungsi dari satu dusun ke dusun lain dapat terlacak secara cepat dan efektif, sehingga lokasi untuk pengedropan bantuan logistik atau untuk evakuasi korban dapat ditentukan secara akurat. Informasi lokasi yang ditandai dengan koordinat dapat berperan dalam manajemen bencana secara akurat. Daerah penelitian sebagai sampel adalah lokasi yang paling rawan terkena bencana apabila terjadi letusan Gunung Semeru, yaitu dua kecamatan di Kabupaten Malang dan dua kecamatan di Kabupaten Lumajang, Provinsi Jawa Timur.Kata Kunci: Pengembangan Aplikasi, Basisdata Nama Geografi, Gazetir, Bencana Alam.ABSTRACTGeographical name database contains collection of geographical names and theirattributes or relevant information. This database also can be defined as geographical names spatial database for accumulating layers of geographic names for mapping purposes. Through along process the geographical names data were extracted for preparation of gazetteer compilation. Gazetteer is a list of geographical names sorted in alphabetical order and followed by relevant information. This study tries to develop a geographical names database application used for mapping purposes to be utilized for disaster management. The effort is to identify natural disasters that might occur in disaster-prone locations. Characteristics of the disaster will be specifically identified, so that it can be analyzed how to overcomethe disasters with a minimum risk of casualties. Such measures include the collection of location or buildings prepared for evacuation. In addition, movement of refugees from one hamlet to another hamlet can be tracked quickly and effectively, so that location for logistical assistance or for evacuation of casualties can be determined accurately. The location information is marked with coordinates which can play a role in disaster management accurately. The research area was the most prone to disasters due in the event of an eruption of Mount Semeru, which were the two districts in Malang Regency, and two districts in Lumajang Regency.Keywords: Application Development, Geographical Names Database, Gazetteer, Natural Disaster.

Abstract

lbnu Battutah sebagai seorang geografiwan muslim dan pengembara dunia atau journey geografi mempunyai kemampuan hebat dalam mengbasilkan karya besar yang dikagumi oleh dunia Barat. Dengan perjalanannya, bagian wilayah Indonesia telah dikunjungi sebanyak dua kali yakni pada tahun 1345 dan tahun 1346. Oleh karena itu dalam perkembangan ilmu geografi di Indonesia, sumbangan Ibnu Battutah tidak dapat diabaikan begitu saja. Hal ini mengingat babwa Battutah, sebagai geografiwan tertentu telah mencatat hasil-hasil perpelancongan geografisnya di Indonesia, khususnya di Samudera Pasai, Sumatera. Sekilas tentang biografi Battutah dan sumbangannya terhadap Geografi Indonesia disajikan dalam makalah ini.

Abstract

This annotated bibliography is gathered specially for the field of geography obtained from various scientific articles (basic concept in geography) of different geographical journals. This article aims to present information particulary for geographers who will undertake researches, and indeed need the geographical References with all spatial concepts. Other reason defeated by the rapid development of the branch of technical geography such as geographical information systems (GIS) and remote sensing. It hopes that this bibliography can contribute of remotivating geographers to learn and review their original geographical thought.
