It is necessary to provide basic data needed for health program development in Kepulauan Seribu District. This survey has been carried out to collect figure about the peoples knowledge about malaria. The data was collected through interviews using a questionnaire to 250 household respondents. Besides, a survey was also conducted by the medical team MBS to get information about the incidence and transmission of malaria. The study results showed that the levels of respondents education were: as much as 49.2% complete primary school, 18.0% junior high school graduation, 16.8% high school graduation, then, as many as 12.8% never went to school and the remaining 3.2% completed college or university. The main job of the respondents were: housewife (43.6%), fishermen (31.6%), traders (12.8%), farmers (6.4%) and civil servants (5.6%). Respondents knowledge and perceptions about malaria was good and right. Knowledge about preventive measures and ways of transmission of malaria was derived from clinic health workers. As many as 74.0% respondents stated that malaria can cause death. Although microscopic examination of blood slides from all specimens did not find any positive malaria, but the observations donein the environment swamps and pools of water can resulted in potential malaria vectors breeding places. It is necessary to perform counseling and surveillance of malaria larvae periodically because the mobility of the population can affect the occurrence of imported malaria cases. Keywords: Knowledge, malaria, kepulauan seribu

Anopheles mosquito could be as a disease vector if having age for the growth of malaria parasitein its body. The research was conducted by catching mosquito in nature, namely: using human collection,wall-resting collection, around cattle and using light trap. The caught mosquito was assessing its proportionof parous and longevity, the composition of parous proportion in each species difference, namely: An.aconitvs reached its highest 0.8 and its lowest 0.2. An. barbirostris reached its highest 0.55 and its lowest0.02. The low Index parous indicates that mosquito could not transmit plasmodium to human. The estimation of An.aconitus age reaches the highest of 8.58 days and the lowest 1.23 days. At the age of 8.58 days An.aconitus is able to grow plasmodium in its body. The estimation of An. barbirostris age reachesits highest of 3.49 days and its lowest 1.3 days. An. maculatus age reached its highest age of 2.65 days and its lowest 1.44 days. The mosquito with short age could not be as a malaria vector. It is concluded that An.aconitus was potential as malaria vector. Key words: Anopheles sp, age composition, vector, hill

One of the important factors in malaria transmission is population density of vector. The intensity of transmission is also influenced by the occurrence of contact between vector and human beings. The study aims to determine the correlation between malaria incidence of An. aconitus and rainfall in Lengkong sub-district, Sukabumi. The highest SPR was 25% in June. The highest indoor bite to human occurred in October with the average of 0.35 and the lowest indoor bite was only 0.11 per hour in January. The highest outdoor bite of An. aconitus occurred in October of about 0.58 per hour and the lowest one was only 0.03 in January. An. aconitus was found to bite goats instead of human of about 65.7%. The study revealed that there was a positive correlation between the bites of An. aconilus with the incidence of malaria (p<0.05). Similarly, rainfall also indirectly influenced the incidence of malaria since the rainfall influence the development of mosquitoes. There were no differences between indoor and outdoor bites in influencing malaria incidence in the area of study. Keywords: An. aconitus, malaria, rainfall, Sukabumi

Helminthiasis Prevalence Among Compulsory Learning of Public School Children In The Slum Areas of Poverty Elimination Integrated Program in Jakarta Province.Helminthiasis study among compulsory learning of public school children poverty elimination (SD-WGT-Taskin) integrated movement in the slum areas was conducted. An activities werw perfonned inNorth Jakarta and East Jakarta townships in 2003. There are seven SD-WGT-Taskin in North Jakartatownship and three in East Jakarta township. There were two SD-WGT-Taskin that randomly selected from each township. All student in the SD-WGT-Taskin are the school age children that strayed as the beggar, waste pickes from the poverty families in the slum areas. These children were collected and toughtin the governmental public school building during after noon. In order to determine the helminthiasis prevalence, the stool specimen were collected from the students, floated by MgSo4 and examined under microscope. It was found that 50 (49,02%) out at 102 stool specimen from Nort Jakarta were found positive of helminth eggs, of 12 (9,80%) out 128 stool specimen from East Jakarta were found positive of helminth eggs. It was found also that 40 (80,00%) out of 50 positive helminth eggs from Nort Jakarta were A.lumbricoides eggs, 10 (20,00%) were positive of T. trichiura while for Ancylostoma sp. Egg was found negative. Of 13 (68,42%) out 19 specimen from South Jakarta were found positive of A. lombricoides egg,6 (31,82%) specimen were T. trichiura eggs while ancylostoma sp eggs was found negative. Of 62(74,70%) out 83 specimen from West Jakarta were found positive of A. lombricoides egg, 21(25,30%) specimen were T. trichiura eggs while ancylostoma sp eggs was found negative. Of 7 (58,33%) out 12 specimen from East Jakarta were found positive of A. lombricoides egg, 5 (41 ,67%) specimen were T.trichiura eggs while ancylostoma sp eggs was found negative. It is concluded that helminthiasis among the student who study in SD-WGT-Taskin in Nort Jakarta and west Jakarta were found high prevalence. Regarding of the World Health Organization (WHO) recommendation should be treated with blanket method to all student of SD-WGT-Taskin, instead of selected method. Keywords: Visceral Helminth, Prevalence, SD-WGT-Taskin

A study about mosquitoes species in Sumbawa Regency, West Nusa Tenggara Province was carried out in 2002. The locations of study were done in coastal area of Maluk, Benette Port, Township, Over Sekongkang, Below Sekongkang, Sejorong Tongo, SP-I dan SP-II Tongo. Collections of mosquito from various habitats were done by six methods: (1) Collections of larvae and pupae from various habitats, (2) Night man - biting collections, (3) Night cattle - biting collections or resting collections around cattle shelters, (4) Morning indoor resting collections, (5) Morning natural collections of mosquito, (6) Light trap collections. All mosquitoes collected were then brought and identified for each species in the laboratory. The results showed that in Sumbawa regency, West Nusa Tenggara Province have been found 27 mosquitoes species, i.e: Aedes Aegypti, Ae. albopictus, Ae. anandalei, Ae. (F.) kochi, Ae. vexans, Anopheles aconitus, An. annularis, An. barbirostris.
