Abstract

This quasi experimental research aimed to know the influence of cooperative learning model of group investigation type towards student’s conceptual understanding of mathematics. The research design was post-test only control design. The population was all students of grade 8th in second semester of SMP Negeri 1 Sribhawono in the academic year of 2012/2013 as many as 198 students who distributed into six classes. The samples were students of VIII 1 and VIII 3 class who selected by purposive random sampling. Based on the results of the data analysis, it found that the students understanding of mathematical concepts who taught by cooperative learning model of group investigation type was higher than conventional learning. The conclusion of this research was the cooperative learning model of group investigation type effect students understanding of mathematical concepts.Penelitian eksperimen semu ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui pengaruh model pembelajaran kooperatif tipe group investigation terhadap pemahaman konsep matematis siswa. Desain penelitian adalah post-test only control design. Populasi penelitian adalah seluruh siswa kelas VIII semester genap SMP Negeri 1 Sribhawono tahun pelajaran 2012/2013 sebanyak 198 siswa yang terdistribusi ke dalam enam kelas. Sampelnya adalah siswa kelas VIII 1 dan VIII 3 yang dipilih menggunakan purposive random sampling. Berdasarkan hasil analisis data, diperoleh bahwa pemahaman konsep matematis siswa dengan model pembelajaran kooperatif tipe group investigation lebih tinggi dibandingkan pembelajaran konvensional. Kesimpulan penelitian ini adalah bahwa model pembelajaran kooperatif tipe group investigation berpengaruh terhadap pemahaman konsep matematis siswa.
