Abstract

The effort to the economy growth of developing countries is directed to create an integrated zone that will motivate export, invite investors, and be a catalyst of a continuous growing and developing region.  This research is to design agroestat as an integrated agricultural zone under one management based on local specific competitive horticulture with regional development approach.  The research of agroestat is holistic covering the whole value-chain (farming, industry, and trading) of the regional, national, and international process agriculture.  Agroestat make use of a complex and complicated inter-dependency and inter-relation of multidimensional (social, culture, and economy) among sectors (agriculture, industry, and commerce).  Therefore, this research applied, soft, system methodology to design conceptual model of agroestat (soft system) and decision support system (hard system).  The study of agroestat benchmarks to three models of newly specific developed integrated region that is Perkebunan Inti Rakyat (PIR), agropolitan, and ecoindustrial park model.  The conceptual model of agroestate, consist of five individual elements which are infrastructure, district, business, funding, and management.  As a whole it describes the agroestate model.  Regionalization of agroestate is using objective and subjective approach into three (agriculture, industry, and commerce) economic zone on fair free trade competition and decentralization of government policy.  Agroestat in the smallest autonomous area of Kabupaten/Kota applying the integrity concept, needs supports of local government in indirect-subsidies (infrastructure) and regulation (spatial order).  Agroestate needs an independent, professional, commercial institution to manage agroestate.  The validation of Agroestat DSS (decision support system) has been done in Kabupaten Brebes with shallot as local competitive horticulture commodity. Key words: agroestat, agricultural region, agriculture, shallot

Abstract

Abstract

Organization or company conformity is a degree of collaboration among the structure, strategy, and culture. Thus, culture is classified into the following four aspects i.e. family (clan), innovative creation (adhocracy), hierarchy, and the market. This study intended to validate whether the power relationship and leadership can become catalysts to accelerate the formation of organizational uniformity. Hence, this study also aimed to identify the organizational culture approach suitable to be applied in Bogor Batik Tradisiku in order to reduce the unconformity occurring among divisions, observe the cultural influence, relationship strength and leaderships toward conformity, and to explain them through the managerial implications. These causal relationships were analyzed by utilizing Structural Equation Modelling (SEM) with Partial Least Squares (PLS) approach to perform the level-two confirmatory factor analysis. The results showed that Bogor Batik Tradisiku is urged to implement the organizational culture approach of Adhocracy to replace the clan which was supported by an appropriate leadership style to accelerate the presence of company conformity. Abstract

Several methods for evaluating the effect of site specific condition of soil layers against earthquakes are presently available. Site Specific Analysis (SSA) and Horizontal-to-Vertical Spectral Ratio (HVSR) are two methods commonly used for estimating the amplification factor of soil layers above bedrock. SSA can be performed using subsurface shear wave velocities and dynamic soil properties (density, shear modulus and damping). The HVSR is a simple method for estimating the site amplification factor. Based on the time and budget requirement HVSR is more efficient and effective compare to SSA method. This paper presents result of SSA and HVSR methodscomparison for estimating the amplification factor of soil layers. Two boring locations and six single station seismometer tests were perform within Tembalang District Area.

Abstract

Indonesian competition law known as Law No. 5 of 1999 was adopted on the fifth of March 1999 and took effective a year later, the fifth of March 2000. Since the adoption of the Law we are witnessing business players have changed in the ways they run their businesses. We are also witnessing challenges that need to be dealt with if we want Law No5 effective to reach its objectives. This article discloses some of those challenges. The most difficult one to deal with is the resistance by the court to the existence of the Indonesian Antimonopoly Authority (KPPU).

Abstract

The Horizontal-to-Vertical Spectral Ratio (HVSR) is a simple method for estimating the resonance frequency of sedimentary layers. This method can also be used for estimating the site amplification factor. By using the resonance frequency and the amplification factor HVSR method can also be used for predicting the depth of the bed rock or the thickness of sediment layer (Nakamura, 1989). This paper presents results of HVSR method applied to ambient vibrations for estimating the amplification factor of sedimentary layer. A total of 16 ambient vibration measurements were performed in the City of Semarang to predict the amplification factor for the shallow sedimentary layers.

Abstract

This paper discusses how Ammatoans, an indigenous people of Sulawesi, embrace Islam, adjust their life with modernity, and at the same time preserve their indigenous religion. It specifically talks about the practice of Ramadan through which those three elements are articulated by Ammatoans. Building insight on Stuart Hall’s theory of “articulation,” this paper argues that those three elements are contextually exercised, advocated, challenged, and questioned, and even “humiliated” by Ammatoans. It shows that Ammatoans, with their own ways, exercise Islam and modernity as much as their indigenous religion. The three elements, for Ammatoans, are not mutually exclusive. They are dialectical as they are practiced by Ammatoans.

Abstract

As a company engaged in the industrial sector by producing certain components and localized in an industrial area, there will be an impact on the environment. These impacts can be positive in the form of employment, reducing dependence on imported heavy equipment, increase in foreign exchange due to reduced imports and increased exports, increased government revenue from taxes, public facilities improvement and supporting infrastructure, and opening up opportunities for other related industries. These impacts can also be negative in the form of environmental degradation such as noise disturbance, dust, and micro climate change, and changes in social and cultural conditions surrounding the industry. Data analysis was performed descriptively and with the Structural Equation Model (SEM). SEM is a multivariate statistical technique which is a combination of factor analysis and regression analysis (correlation), which aims to test the connections between existing variables in a model, whether it is between the indicator with the construct, or the connections between constructs. SEM model consists of two parts, which is the latent variable model and the observed variable model. In contrast to ordinary regression linking the causality between the observed variables, it is also possible in SEM to identify the causality between latent variables. The results of SEM analysis showed that the developed model has a fairly high level of validity that is shown by the minimum fit chi-square value of 93.15 (P = 0.00029). Based on said model, it shows that the company's performance in waste management is largely determined by employee integrity and objectivity of the new employees followed later by the independence of the employees in waste management. The most important factor that determines the employee integrity in waste management in the model is honesty, individual wisdom, and a sense of responsibility. The most important factor in the employee objectivity in waste management is the support of accurate data in each report of waste management by the company and transparency on reports of the company’s activity. While the factors that determine the employee independency is the company's interests, a sense of employee volunteering, and openness between the company and employees. Keywords : heavy equipment industry, management, environment, Structural Equation Model (SEM)
