Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui (1) proses berpikir mahasiswa dalam mendeskripsikan masalah dan (2) kemampuan mahasiswa untuk menyelesaikan masalah dalam bentuk kuis. Penelitian ini dilakukan di IKIP PGRI Madiun pada Program Studi Biologi khususnya mata kuliah Biologi Sel. Sampel yang digunakan adalah mahasiswa semester IIA dengan jumlah mahasiswa sebanyak 26 orang. Metode yang dipergunakan adalah deskriptif kualitatif dengan teknik pengambilan data menggunakan refleksi pembelajaran terhadap penggunaan jurnal belajar dan observasi langsung. Penelitian dilakukan sebanyak tujuh kali tatap muka dengan kompetensi dasar mengacu pada mata kuliah Biologi Sel sesuai direncanakan. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa pada tatap muka 1-3, mahasiswa masih belum menunjukkan pola pikir sistematis dengan persentase 44,64%; 56,92%, dan 61,54%. Sedangkan mahasiswa menunjukkan proses berpikir sistematis pada TM4-7 dengan persentase 73,85%; 76,19%; 79,22%; dan 83,85%. Sedangkan pemahaman konsep dari setiap kali tatap muka berturut-turut adalah 50%; 38,46%; 11,54%; 53,85%; 50%; 69,23%; dan 76,92%.   Kata Kunci:  Jurnal belajar, lesson study, proses berpikir, pemahaman konsep.

Abstract

The purpose of the research is to improve students ability to learn Cell Biology and discuss its application in live through the implementation of the Student Team Achievement Divisions (STAD) with Lesson Study (LS) in lecture. The experiment was conducted by applying the LS activities involving six lecturers and eleven final year students who are members of the LS team for fourteen meetings on Biology Cell lectures. There are seven Cell Biology materials that were implemented in two different classes with the use of  STAD models. The Lesson Study that include Plan, Do, and See activities was implemented with the purpose of improving the quality of teaching learning processes. The data of learning ability was measured using quiz at the end of each lecture, while the discussion ability data was obtained through observation of the 2nd, 3rd, 4th, 5th, and 7th using the observation sheet with aspects of observations: a) the contribution to the task, b) leadership,              c) collaboration,  d) ability to cooperate, e) understanding of the materials, f) presentation style, and g) the quality of the questions raised. Descriptive data were analyzed qualitatively for the observed components. The highest results of the average of quiz of seven Cell Biology materials was the result of learning on the Nucleus and Genetics Materials. On the average the highest quiz result on this seventh meeting for class A was 67.93 and for class B was 64.21. The discussion abilities of the five materials discussed during Cell Biology lectures was during the discussion of the Structure and Function of the Cytoskeleton. On the average the discussion abilities on this fifth discussion for class A was 68.08 and for class B was 73.50.

Abstract

Every living organism has the ability to reproduce that aims to maintain the kind ( species). Sexual maturity conditions of  Drosophilla melanogaster will affect the outcome of the offspring ,that is a number of offspring and a kind offspring sex. Sexual maturation of female D. melanogaster individuals also greatly affect to the offspring conditions. Genetic research using D. melanogaster as an experimental material will be interesting and challenging for the university students . The purpose of this study was to determine: 1)The effect of age of female D.  melanogaster strains tx on offspring number and the sex of F1. 2) The research results will use as a guide to the preparation of the genetics lab. The study was conducted using a completely randomized design methods . Data were analyzed using analysis of variance of the path (oneway Anova) followed  further test by 5 % BNT test. Data showed the effect of age of female D. melanogaster strains tx on a number of offspring and the kind sex of F1 . The average number of offspring at various ages females are 149.38 . The average of are 72.03 and 77.34 of the female. After further testing with BNT in 5% of level indicates that the number of F1 offspring in females treatment aged 12 , 24 , 36 and 48 hours resulted in a lot of different number of offspring significantly with the number of female progeny from crosses age 60 , 72, 84 and 96 hours resulted in the number of little offspring. From the study it can be concluded that the age of the female D. melanogaster strains tx effect on a number of offspring and a kind of F1 sex of progeny . The older females ,the number of offsprings produced are less, because females decreased fertility and fecundity . Individual males have a higher mortality compared with all age female D. melanogaster strains tx . Keyword : Females Age , D. melanogaster strain Tx, Practical Guidelines .

Abstract

This study aims to determine the effect of the intensity of the rainy season to the abundance of phytoplankton in the reservoir Bening Madison County. As well as exploit some results of research on the abundance of phytoplankton as a medium of learning materials were shaped poster on the types of phytoplankton. This study uses a quantitative approach to the exploration technique. There are six points each station with two sample replicates. The results showed that in Reservoir Bening Saradan found 16 species of phytoplankton that is Synedra acus, Synedra ulna, Navicula grevillei, Tetragonodium verum, Crucigenia rectangularis, Ulothrix cylindricum, Nitzchia paleaceae, Ceratium candelabrum, Goniochloris sculpta, Scenedesmus ocuminatus, Navicula sp, Nitzchia acicularis, Spirulina major, Ceratoneis acus, Pediastrum simplex, Pleurota eniumtrabecula.  Phytoplankton abundance is the most ubiquitous class Bacillariophyceae. Phytoplankton abundance is influenced by monsoon intensity 40,9%. While 59,1% of other factors influenced the agricultural wastes that contain elements of N, P, K, which can improve nutrient. The highest phytoplankton abundance in December is 138,64 ind/l with 12 species of phytoplankton. The number of rainy days in the December low at 25/31 days allows a maximum of phytoplankton photosynthesis. Lowest phytoplankton abundance in February which is 65,14 ind/l. Phytoplankton abundance is directly proportional to the intensity of the rainy season. The number of higher intensity, phytoplankton abundance is also higher, and vice versa. Physical and chemical conditions Bening Reservoir categorized according to the results of research in the waters of the state are less fertile and less than optimal for the growth of phytoplankton.Keywords : phytoplankton, abundance, intensity of the rainy season

Abstract

Learning Bology is focussed on the students’ involvement and activeness to make them easier to understand the instructional materials on the concepts of biology. To develop the existing teaching methodology at SMP Negeri I Karanganyar, Recoprocal Teaching is implemented as one of cooperative teaching strategy which enables the mutual activities of teachers and students under four understanding strategy, i.e. summerizing, questioning, clarifying and predicting. This research is intended to to identify the strategic significance of Reciprocal Teaching on the biology achievement of the seven graders of SMP Negeri 1 Karanganyar. The sample of this reserach are students of class VIIA and VIIB who are determined by random sampling technique. The t-test analysis technique results in computation that working t is 1.902 and table t is 1.675 under the level of sihnificance of 5%. The result shows that reciprocal Teaching has a significant influence on the achievement in biology of the students of VII graders of SMP Negeri 1 Karanganyar. Abstract

The study aims to determine the improvement of metacognitive skills and learning activities of studentsthrough a learning model talking stick. Classroom action research is done in SMPN 1 Balerejo. Datacollection techniques metacognitive skills and learning activities using observation sheet . Results of the first cycle study metacognitive skills 44,22. Results of the first cycle of study learning activities 40,3.Results of the second cycle study metacognitive skills 84,74. Abstract

Tujuan penelitian ini adalah mengetahui penggunaan sosial media (facebook) sebagai media pembelajaran yang dapat dipergunakan untuk meningkatkan motivasi dan prestasi belajar Biologi pada materi respirasi. Penelitian dilaksanakan dengan tindakan kelas (PTK) yang dianalisa secara kualitatif. Data motivasi diambil menggunakan kuisioner dan prestasi menggunakan tes. Populasi penelitian adalah siswa kelas XI SMA N 1 Tegalombo, tahun ajaran 2014/2015. Sampel penelitian adalah kelas XI IPA 1. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa motivasi berada pada kategori tinggi dengan hasil 86,38%, sedangkan prestasi berada pada kategori baik dengan angka 81,81%. Kata kunci: jejaring sosial, facebook, motivasi, prestasi.

Abstract

Hasil belajar mahasiswa pada matakuliah Biologi Sel masih relatif rendah karena proses pelaksanaan pembelajaran berpusat pada pendidik dan mahasiswa merasa sulit untuk memahami materi yang disampaikan oleh dosen. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui penerapan jurnal belajar sebagai alat dalam upaya meningkatkan pemahaman konsep mahasiswa pada matakuliah Biologi Sel. Penelitian dilakukan pada mahasiswa semester II Prodi Pendidikan Biologi IKIP PGRI Madiun sebanyak 53 mahasiswa (26 mahasiswa untuk kelas 2A) dan (27 mahasiswa untuk kelas 2B). Pelaksanaan penelitian dilakukan selama tiga kali tatap muka dari matakuliah Biologi sel KD 1-3. Data yang dikumpulkan dalam penelitian ini berupa data keterlaksanaan STAD, data jurnal belajar dan data pemahaman konsep. Data pemahaman konsep didapatkan dengan pemberian pertanyaan kuis di akhir pembelajaran. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan pelaksanaan pembelajaran dengan menggunakan jurnal belajar mengalami peningkatan dari pertemuan I sebesar 13,32 meningkat menjadi 13,42 pada pertemuan II dan III, dan terdapat peningkatan nilai kuis dari tiap KD pada kategori sedang dan rendah. Students’ learning outcomes were still relatively low at Celluler Biology Subject because the implementation process of learning was centered on lecturer and stundents found it difficult to understand the subject material. This study aimed to determine the application of learning journal as a tool in the effort to increase students understanding of Celluler Biology concept. The study was conducted at 53 second semester stundents (26 students for class 2A and 27 students for class 2B) of Biology Education Program Study of PGRI Teachers Training College, Madiun. The study was conducted during three meetings for KD 1-3 (Kompetensi Dasar=Basic Competence) of Celluler Biology Subject. The collected data were the implemented STAD data, the learning journal data and the concept understanding data. The concept understanding data were obtained by giving the quiz questions at the end of learning. The study result showed that the learning with implementation of learning journal increased from first meeting at 13.32 became 13.42 at meeting II and III, and there was the increase of quiz value from each KD on both medium and low categories.

Abstract

The implementation of innovative learning and lesson study (LS) are potential to improve student thinking skills and activeness differently and mostly implemented separately. This study aimed to explore and compare the student critical and creative thinking skills as well as student activeness in the inquiry and cooperative models combined with LS-based learning practice. This was a descriptive quantitative study that was conducted at Islamic Senior High School 1 of Bengkulu.  The sample was two classes consisted of 33 and 32 students each that conducted LS-inquiry and LS-cooperative learning. The essay test delivered to measure critical and creative thinking skills and observation sheet to measure student activeness. The data were analyzed by t-test to compare critical and creative thinking skills as well as the student activeness between the LS-inquiry and LS-cooperative classes. The result showed that LS-inquiry learning improved the student critical and creative thinking skills that significantly higher than LS-cooperative learning. The student activeness improved gradually as LS cycles during learning processes in either inquiry or cooperative learning, but no significant difference between these two learning models. It showed that inquiry learning plays a dominant influence in critical and creative thinking skills improvement, whereas LS in student activeness improvement otherwise.
