Abstract

This research describes how Advertising Response Modelling (ARM) provides a framework to measure advertising performance by integrating several multiple measuresused in copy research. Several studies found that the use of celebrity endorsers is a popular execution device, but it is not without risk. The author reports the study examininghow the case of negative information about an endorser can affect three variables: attitude toward ads, attitude toward brand, and purchasing intention. The aims of this researchwere to measure the influence of negative traits of endorsers on consumers’ attitude toward the product, the brand, and the purchasing intention. Experimental research design was employed in this study. The participants in this research were students who are studying at Master of Economics Science, Gadjah Mada University, Yogyakarta. There were 100 participants out of 113 samples used as participants. Those participants were exposed to a printed advertisement of drinking product “Extra O2” brand. Then, they were also exposed to the case of negative information of the endorsers who have and have no nasty married. After that, the participants were asked to fill in self-administered and structured questionnaire. By using ARM and One-way ANOVA analysis, the research shows that endorsers without divorce problem has influenced positively the audience morethan that of endorser with nasty married. However, there are no significant differences between men and women in responding the advertising with nasty and non-nasty marriedendorsers. Keywords: Advertising Response Modelling (ARM), endorsers with nasty and without nasty married Attitude toward ads, attitude toward brand, and purchasing intention.

Abstract

Abstrak. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk memberikan bukti empiris mengenai pengaruh mekanisme corporate governance terhadap manajemen laba. Mekanisme corporate governance dalam penelitian ini diproksikan dengan konsentrasi kepemilikan, kepemilikan institusional, kepemilikan manajerial, komposisi dewan komisaris dan ukuran komite audit. Manajemen laba dalam penelitian ini diukur dengan conditional revenue model yang dikembangkan oleh Stubben (2010). Penelitian ini menggunakan sampel dari perusahaan manufaktur yang terdaftar di Bursa Efek Indonesia selama periode 2010-2012. Penarikan sampel dalam penelitian ini menggunakan metode purposive sampling dan diperoleh 128 perusahaan yang digunakan sebagai sampel. Metode analisis dalam penelitian ini menggunakan multiple regression analysis. Hasil dari penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa konsentrasi kepemilikan dan komposisi dewan komisaris berpengaruh signifikan negatif terhadap manajemen laba. Mekanisme corporate governance yang lain tidak memiliki pengaruh signifikan terhadap manajemen laba.Kata kunci: Corporate Governance, Manajemen Laba, Conditional Revenue Model, Purposive Sampling, Multiple Regression Analysis. Abstract. The purpose of this study is to get the empirical evidence regarding the influence of corporate governance mechanisms on earnings management. This research uses the proxies of ownership concentration, institutional ownership, managerial ownership, proportion of independent commissioner on the board, and audit committee size as corporate governance mechanisms. Earnings management was measured conditional revenue model (Stubben 2010). The research sample consists of 188 firm-year observations of listed manufacturing companies in Indonesia Stock Exchange during 2010-2012. The analysis method used is multiple regression analysis.The result reveals that ownership concentration and proportion of independent commissioner on the board have negative influence on earnings management. The rest of corporate governance mechanisms have no influence on earnings management.Keywords: Corporate Governance, Earnings Management, Conditional Revenue Model, Purposive Sampling, Multiple Regression Analysis.

Abstract

Using the Technology Acceptance Model (TAM) as a theoretical framework, this studyinvestigates the effect of a set of individual differences (computer self-efficacy andknowledge of search domain) and system characteristics (relevance, terminology, andscreen design) on intention to use digital libraries. The aim of this study is to test thecorrelation between perceived ease-of-use variable and perceived usefulness variable,beliefs (perceived ease-of-use and perceived usefulness) against behavior intention to use.This study also to test the relationship between individual differences (computer selfefficacy and knowledge of search domain) and system characteristics, which consist ofrelevance terminology and screen design against belief variables. The study replicatesTechnology Acceptence Model (TAM) by Hong et al (2002) and implements in e-libraryarea. Based on a sample 100 users of a university’s Gadjah Mada digital library, theresults strongly support the utilization of TAM in predicting users’ intention to adoptdigital libraries, and demonstrate the effects of critical external variables on behaviorintention through perceived ease of use and perceived usefulness. All of the individualdifferences and system characteristics have significant effects on perceived ease of usedigital libraries. Abstract

Tujuan yang ingin dicapai dari penelitian ini ialah mengetahui adanya perbedaan perilaku konsumtif remaja putri yang berorientasi locus of control internal dengan yang berorientasi ekstemal. Hipotesis yang diajukan ialah terdapat perbedaan perilaku konsumtif antara remaja ber-loc internal dengan remaja ber-loc eksternal.Subjek penelitian ialah siswa-siswa kelas II berusia antara 16 sampai dengan 18 tahun pada sebuah SMU swasta khusus putri di Kodya Yog­yakarta. Data diperoleh melafui penggunaan angket perilaku konsumtit, dan skala IPC-LOC, serta angket mengenai kepemilikan uang saku siswa.Analisis data menggunakan program analisis kovariansi.Hasil analisis data menuruukken ada perbedaan (F = 27, 788; p<0,01 ).Subjek ber-loc internal mempunyai rerata perilaku konsumtit (M,,_ = 59,064)lebih rendah dari pada kelompok subjek ber-loc eksternal (M.s = 79,023).Hasil ini membuktikan bahwa locus of control berperan di dalam munculnyaperilaku konsumtif pada remaja putri. Abstract

AbstractThe purpose of this research is to improve students comprehending on commands given. The method of this research is collaborative classroom action research.. The instruments used to collect the data are field note and individual test checklist form. The research finding of 1st cycle has shown that lack of understanding of the students in comprehending the commands is the main reason of this problem. However, the situation changes in 2nd cycle when the teacher keep repeating the commands and showing actions used as the technique to clarify the meaning of the commands which is called Total Physical Response combine with repetition drill. TPR combine with repetition drill improve students to comprehend the commands so that they will be easier to carry out the command given. In addition, the students will be more motivated to learn more due to the TPR isan  attractive technique for students. Keywords : Total Physical Response, Repetition drill, Commands, Classroom Action Research.

Abstract

This public service activity was executedto generate the excitement of housewifes to improve the household economics condition. It is believed that everyone was their own strength for instance the ability in cooking, making crafts, gardening, and so on. But many people do not realize that those could be developed to reach better life. The method is in the form of counselling about the importance of housewif’s role in improving the household economic condition, skills, followed by training in designing appropriate business in accordance with their capabilities and skills. It includes the examples of creative products that can be practiced by housewifesbased on their talent and interests.

Abstract

The study examined the differences of understanding financial statements elements among college students with different high school curriculum background. Data were collected by questionnaires distribution to 189 college students at business school of Pelita Harapan University as respondents. One hundred and fifty eight of 189 question-naires were processed using the Kruskal Wallis H test. The results of this study showed that there are no differences of understanding financial statements elements among college students. Different high school curriculum background did not result the differences of understanding financial statements elements.

Abstract

The effect of participative budgeting on managerial performance has been en interesting topic of research for many years. The objective of this research is to give an empirical evidence about the intervening effect of job satisfaction and job relevant information on the relationship between participative budgeting and managerial performance. Data were collected via questionnaires completed by managers drawn from a variety of functional areas in manufaturing companies. This study use the structural equation modelling. The result reveals that participative budgeting has positive influence to managerial performance, job satisfaction, and job relevant information. Job satisfaction has positive influence to managerial performance. Job relevant information has positive influence to job satisfaction but the other side has no influence to managerial performance. The result also shows that job satisfaction and job relevant information do not have intervening effect on the relationship between participative budgeting and managerial performance
