Abstract

This article is intended as a sumplement to Ketidaktepatan Penggunaan Validitas Butir dan Koefisien Reliabilitas dalam Penelitian Pendidikan dan Psikologi article. The author suggests the interpretation given by earlier measurement specialists to item-total correlation indices as part of item reliability index, instead of item validity index. The index for item validity should be related to some other criteria out of the instrument being developed. Meanwhile, related to the issue of testing some hypothezised reliability coefficient (KR-20 or Cronbach Alpha), the author suggests that F distribution or its related confident interval be used, as developed and suggested by Feldt (1965).

Abstract

The aim of this study was to develop and validate an instrument of classroom climate based on the instrument developed in Australia. The instrument consisted of two forms, the actual and preferred forms, to measure aspects of the actual and preferred classroom climate. The study involved 1126 grade V and VI elementary school students in Padang, West Sumatera. Data were analysed by applying factor analysis, Cronbach Alpha and discriminant validity. The result of the study demontrsted that the empirical evidence supported the items grouped into scales. The internal consistency of the instrument was higher than the previous version. Each item of the instrument does not overlap with the others. So, the instrument can be implemented to measur classroom climate. It is suggested to validate the instrument for junior high school students

Abstract

This article discusses a part of findings of a study performed by Kumaidi and associates. The issue discussed in this article mainly focused on the aplication of Rasch model in analyzing data across classrooms and demonstrated the worth of the analysis. Data used in this article were responses of SMUN students in answering tests of English as an end of first quarter (Cawu I) test. The results of the study sugget that Rasch approach might be implemented to plot items from different classes in one single metric scale. This single metric would be useful to monitor students progress in learning. It is suggested that the testing procedures be implemented which give rise a multilevel testing for end quarter tests in the future

Abstract

he purpose of this study was to develop entry level tests and to identify the level of competency of IKIP Padang freshmen as measured by the test. These tests were used to measure the 1997 IKIP Padang freshmen in the respective majors. The result was not surprising as it was found that the entry level knowledge of the freshmen in the respective subject matter area was quite low. At the second assessment, after one semester study, although the gain scores of those freshmen were statistically significant, the absolute value of increase in the test scores was relatively low. It was hypothetically explained that it may happen due to the fact that the curricula of the subject major is not directly related to pre university learning or that the learning process at IKIP Padang is not effective

Abstract

Tujuan utama penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui robustness Model Logistik 1 Parameter (ML 1-P), Model Logistik 2 Parameter (ML 2-P) dan Model Logistik 3 Parameter (ML 3-P) terhadap pelanggaran Asumsi Independensi Lokal Butir (ILB). Penelitian ini menggunakan data simulasi yang dibangkitkan dengan 40 butir, 500 simuli, dan 10 replikasi untuk setiap model. Skor-skor batas dibangun berdasakan pelanggaran Asumsi ILB 0 - 100% yang dihasil-kan dengan menggunakan 1- 40 kelompok butir sedangkan kategori-kategori skor dibangun berdasarkan dampak pelanggaran Asumsi ILB terhadap struktur dari matriks data. Hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa model yang paling robust terhadap pelanggaran Asumsi ILB adalah ML 1-P dengan skor batas 31,71% (kategori pelanggaran berat) diikuti ML 2-P dengan skor batas 12,1% (kategori pelanggaran sedang), dan ML 3-P dengan skor batas 7,68% (kategori pelanggaran sedang). Kata kunci: model-model respons butir, robustness, independensi lokal butir ______________________________________________________________ROBUSTNESS MODEL-MODEL RESPONS BUTIR TERHADAP PELANGGARAN ASUMSI INDEPENDENSI LOKAL BUTIRAbstract The primary purpose of this study was to investigate the robustness of the 1-PLM, 2-PLM, and 3-PLM, against violation of the Local Item Independence (LII) Assumption based on cut-off scores and score categories. The investigation used simulated data generated with 40 items, 500 simulees, and 10 replications for each model. The cut-off scores were built based-on 0 – 100% violations of the LII Assumption that were introduced using 1- 40 item clusters. The score categories in this study were built based-on impact of the violations of the LII Assumption to the structure of data matrix. The result showed that the most robust model was 1-PLM with cut-off score 31,71% (heavy violation category) followed by 2-PLM with cut-off score 12,1% (moderate violation category), and 3-PLM with cut-off score 7,68% (moderate violation category). Abstract

Tujuan penelitian untuk: (1) menemukan prosedur pengembangan tes diagnostik kesulitan belajar matematika SD/MI, (2) mengetahui kualitas butir tes diagnostik yang dikembangkan, dan (3) mengetahui informasi yang dapat dimunculkan dari hasil analisis tes diagnostik. Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian pengembangan dari Borg & Gall. Subjek uji sebanyak 542 orang siswa kelas VI SD/MI di Kota Banda Aceh dan Aceh Besar. Analisis kuantitatif untuk mengetahui informasi butir tes menggunakan program ITEMAN dan Program R. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan: (1) pengembangan tes diagnostik kesulitan belajar matematika di SD ini meliputi: studi pendahuluan, studi literatur dan hasil­hasil penelitian, analisis masalah, merumuskan learning continuum, merumuskan peta konsep, menyusun tes essay, polarisasi jawaban siswa, menyusun tes bentuk pilihan ganda, validasi pakar melalui focus group discussion, uji coba terbatas, dan uji yang diperluas, (2) indeks daya beda butir tes antara 0,391 sampai dengan 2,317, indeks kesukaran butir tes antara -2,158 sampai dengan 2,528, kecocokan uji tes dengan kemampuan peserta (θ) antara -2,00 sampai dengan 2,60, dan fungsi informasi tes antara 0,111 sampai dengan 3,879, dan (3) informasi yang dapat dimunculkan dari tes meliputi: hasil tes secara klasikal dan individual, grafik ketuntasan belajar, profil individual, analisis salah konsepsi dan saran remedial.Kata kunci: tes diagnostik, kesulitan belajar matematika______________________________________________________________ DEVELOPING DIAGNOSTIC TEST OF MATHEMATICS LEARNING DIFFICULTIES IN ELEMENTARY SCHOOLSAbstract The purposes of this study were: (1)to find a method to develop diagnostic test of mathematics learning difficulties in primary schools, (2) to determine the diagnostic test characteristics developed, and (3) to determine the information that could be generated by using diagnostic test. This study was a development research by Borg & Gall. The participants of main field testing were 542 grade VI students of primary schools in Banda Aceh City and Aceh Besar Regency. The quantitative analysis to determine the information of the test items developed used ITEMAN program and R Program. The results of this study are: (1) in developing the diagnostic test of the mathematics learning difficulties, the research phase included preliminary study, literature and research results study, problem analysis, formulating learning continuum, formulating concept map, preparing essay-form tests, students answers polarization, preparing multiple-choice tests, experts validation with focus group discussion, preliminary and readability tests, operational field testing, and main field testing to obtain model that fitted theoretically and empirically, (2) discriminating power of test items index ranges from 0.391 to 2.317, the difficulty test items index ranges from -2.158 to 2.528, the test compatibility testing with the participants ability (0) ranges from -2.00 to 2.60 and the test information function ranges from 0.111 to 3.879, and (3) the information that can be generated from the diagnostic test includes classically and individually test results, graphic of learning outcomes attainment, individual profile, every answers analysis, false conception and remedial suggestion analysis.Keywords: diagnostic test, mathematics learning difficulties

METODE STANDARD SETTING UNTUK UJIAN NASIONAL DI SEKOLAH DASAR

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan mengetahui karakteristik hasil Cut Score UN di SD tahun 2009 berdasarkan pengembangan implementasi metode Nedelsky, Ebel, Bookmark dan hasil modifikasi metode Ebel-Bookmark; eyakinan panelis terhadap implementasi metode Standard Setting untuk menetapkan Cut Score; dan akurasi implementasi berdasarkan standar deviasi masing-masing metode. Sampel meliputi 10 orang panelis pada putaran 1, 16 guru pada putaran 2, 8 pakar dan 1650 hasil pekerjaan siswa. Prosedur dan análisis data mengikuti langkah empat metode yang ditetapkan. Analisis item menggunakan program ITEMAN dan Bilog MG dengan 1 Parameter Logistik. Berdasarkan hasil analisis data disimpulkan (1) Rerata Cut Score berdasarkan metode Nedelsky untuk mata pelajaran Bahasa Indonesia 28,44, Matematika 23,47, IPA 27. Metode Ebel untuk Bahasa Indonesia 80,75, Matematika 60,21, IPA 77,54. Metode Bookmark untuk Bahasa Indonesia sebesar 51,63, Matematika 51,33, IPA 59,16. Modifikasi Ebel-Bookmark untuk Bahasa Indonesia 81,27, Matematika 79,06 dan IPA 77,44; (2) keyakinan panelis dalam implementasi metode Standard Setting untuk metode Bookmark 81,25%, modifikasi Ebel-Bookmark 62,50%,  metode Ebel 43,75% dan metode Nedelsky 43,75%; (3) Metode Bookmark lebih akurat dalam menetapkan cut score mata pelajaran Bahasa Indonesia dan Matematika, modifikasi metode Ebel-Bookmark lebih akurat untuk menetapkan cut score mata pelajaran IPA. Kata kunci: standard setting, ujian nasional, sekolah dasar ______________________________________________________________ THE STANDARD SETTING METHOD FOR THE NATIONAL EXAMINATION IN THE ELEMENTARY SCHOOLAbstract This study aims to investigate the characteristics results in Cut Score of UN elementary school in 2009  based on developing the implementation of Nedelsky, Ebel, Bookmarks methods, and modified Ebel method-Bookmark; panelists’ confidence on the implementation of the methods for setting the Standard Setting Cut Score; and the  implementation’s accuracy based on the standard deviation of each method. The sample included 10 panelists in round 1, 16 teachers in round 2, 8 experts, and 1650 students work. Procedures and analysis of data followed the steps of four methods specified. Item analysis used the program ITEMAN and Bilog MG with 1 Parameter Logistic. Based on the results of data analysis it is concluded 1). Cut Mean Score based on Nedelsky method for Indonesian  is 28.44, Math is 23:47, and  Science is 27. Ebel methods for Indonesian is 80.75, Mathematics is 60.21, and Science is 77.54. Bookmark method for Indonesian is 51.63, Mathematics is 51.33, Science is 59.16. Modified Ebel-Bookmark for Indonesian is 81.27, Mathematics is 79.06, and Science is 77.44; 2). panelists confidence in the implementation of the Standard Setting of Bookmark method is 81.25%, Ebel-modification Bookmark is 62.50%, Ebel methods is 43.75%, and  methods Nedelsky is 43.75%; 3).The Bookmark method is more accurate in determining the cut score for Indonesian Language and Mathematics, modified Ebel- Bookmark method is more accurate to establish the cut score for the science subject. Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengembangkan model penilaian MTQ Cabang Tilawah, karena model penilaian yang selama ini digunakan dalam MTQ tidak sesuai dengan teori asesmen. Jenis penelitian ini adalah research and development, yang dimulai dengan research dan diteruskan dengan pengembangan model. Research dilakukan untuk memperoleh informasi mengenai kelemahan-kelemahan model penilaian MTQ Cabang Tilawah yang digunakan selama ini dan aspek-aspek yang mendukung perlunya dilakukan pengembangan model penilaian tersebut.  Pengembangan model mengacu pada prosedur Borg & Gall (1983), yang dilakukan melalui tiga tahap, yaitu: pra-pengembangan, pengembangan, dan diseminasi. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa model penilaian yang dikembangkan dalam penelitian ini layak digunakan dalam penilaian MTQ Cabang Tilawah. Penilaian tentang kelayakan tersebut didasarkan pada validitas dan reliabilitas instrumen yang digunakan dalam uji coba. Dari analisis rasional mengenai isi instrumen yang dilakukan oleh sejumlah pakar diperoleh penilaian bahwa instrumen-instrumen penilaian yang dikembangkan dalam penelitian ini adalah valid. Kemudian dari estimasi reliabilitas skor gabungan hasil uji coba diperoleh koefisien reliabilitas sebesar 0,96. sehingga hasil penilaian yang dikembangkan dalam penelitian ini adalah reliabel. Kata kunci: MTQ, asesmen, tajwid, fasih, suara, irama ______________________________________________________________ AN ASSESSMENT MODEL OF MUSABAQAH TILAWAH AL-QURAN (MTQ) OF THE TILAWAH SECTIONAbstract This study aims to develop a model of an assessment of MTQ of the tilawah section because the assessment of MTQ that has been applied so far is not relevant to assessment theories. This was a research and development study, started with research and continued with developing a model. The research was conducted to obtain information about weaknesses of the model of the assessment of MTQ of the tilawah section having been applied so far and aspects supporting the needs for developing an assessment model. The model development referred to the procedure by Borg & Gall (1983), consisting of three steps, i.e.: pre-development, development, and dissemination. The results of the study show that the assessment model developed in the study is appropriate to be applied in the assessment of MTQ of the tilawah section. The evaluation of the appropriateness is based on the validity and reliability of the instruments in the tryout. From the analysis of the rationale of the instrument contents done by several experts, the instruments developed in the study are considered  valid. Based on the estimation of the reliability of the combined scores from the tryout, the reliability coefficient is 0.96, the assessment instruments developed in the study are reliable.Keywords: MTQ, assessment, tajwid, fashahah, voice, rhythm

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan mengevaluasi secara komprehensif tentang implementasi pendekatan keterampilan proses (PKP) dalam pembelajaran biologi di SMAN Kota Semarang, dan mengungkap berbagai faktor pendukung dan penghambatnya. Penelitian ini menggunakan model evaluasi kesenjangan. Data dikumpulkan dengan pendekatan mixed-method, diawali dengan penggunaan metode kuantitatif dilanjutkan dengan metode kualitatif. Data kuantitatif tingkat penggunaan keterampilan proses oleh peserta didik dikumpulkan menggunakan kuesioner. Kuesioner dikembangkan dengan memodifikasi langkah Madaus et al., Claeys et al., dan Wheeler, melalui tahap review literatur, mengkonstruksi instrumen, menetapkan validitas isi dengan cara validasi pakar, dan uji coba lapangan. Data kualitatif tentang proses pembelajaran biologi dan data kualitatif lainnya, diperoleh melalui observasi, pembuatan catatan lapangan, kategorisasi catatan lapangan, dan wawancara mendalam. Seluruh data dianalisis dengan explanatory mixed-method analysis. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa kualitas implementasi PKP dalam pembelajaran biologi di SMAN kota Semarang belum mencapai kategori baik. Faktor pendukung dan penghambat utamanya adalah tinggi dan rendahnya komitmen guru untuk mengimplementasikan PKP dalam pembelajaran biologi.Kata kunci: evaluasi implementasi kurikulum, pendekatan keterampilan proses, pembelajaran biologi, mixed-method______________________________________________________________ AN EVALUATION OF THE PSA IMPLEMENTATION IN BIOLOGY TEACHING AT STATE HIGH SCHOOLS IN SEMARANG CITY USING THE MIXED-METHOD APPROACH Abstract This study aims to evaluate the implementation of the process skill approach (PSA) in the biology teaching at state high schools in Semarang City,  and reveal the various supporting factors and the constraints. The study used a discrepancy evaluation model. The data were collected using a mixed-methods approach, initiated with the use of the quantitative method followed by the use the qualitative method. The quantitative data about the level of the process-skill use by the students were collected using questionnaire. The questionnaire was developed by referring to the steps of Madaus et al., Claeys et al., and Wheeler, through reviewing literature, constructing instruments, and determining the content validaty  through expert validation, and conducting  field trials. The qualitative data about the biology teaching process and the other qualitative data were collected through  observation, the preparation of field notes and categorization of field notes, and in depth interview. The whole data were analyzed using the explanatory mixed-method analysis. The result shows that the quality of the implementation of the biology curriculum at state high schools in Semarang City is not in a good category yet. The main supporting factors and the constraints are the the teachers’ high and low commitment to implement the PSA in the biology teaching.Keywords: evaluation of curriculum implementation, process skill approach, biologi learning, mixed-method

The effectiveness of English teaching program in senior high school: A case study

Abstract

This research seeks to evaluate the effectiveness of the English teaching program in senior high school: Case of SMAN3 Yogyakarta, grade eleven. This study was a summative case study using a mixed-method. Descriptive statistics were used to analyze quantitative data and qualitative data followed a descriptive analysis following the CIPP model. The informants were 43 students of SMAN3 and two English teachers. The context findings showed that program objectives, classroom condition, students’ needs and barriers were in effective category. In input component, it is found that both teachers were qualified and experienced. The teaching training was not enough; students’ textbooks and course designs were in effective category. The process component showed that teaching materials, teaching methods, teaching activities and assessments were in effective category. The product component showed that English marks, students’ needs and barriers were in effective category. However, the teaching materials were in ‘not effective’ category.
