Abstract

An estimate of genetic parameters was made to study the types of gene action in rice. A half diallel analysis was performed among seven rice genotypes with different genetical backgrounds, i.e. Situgintung, Jatiluhur, Gajah Mungkur, B8503E-TB-9-0-3, Krowal, CT6510-24-1-3, IR 64, and its 21 progenies. This experimental material was arranged in a complete block design with four replications. All observed characters had highly significant genotypic differences. The genetic parameters were estimated following Hayman method. The simple model of additive-dominance was sufficiently detected through the absence of nonalellic interaction. Productive tillers exhibited partial dominance. Heritability in a narrow sense was high. There was a positive correlation between grain yield and the number of productive tillers.

Abstract

Hybridization program was started in PKBT IPB Bogor in 2003, entangles of 12 parental cultivars, consisting of five type Smooth Cayenne cultivars and seven type Queen cultivars. The cross yielded 195 genotypes with various different character combinations. The result of cluster analysis based on morphological characters showed that there were 33 groups of hybrid at the degree of genetic similarity of 50%. The result of principal component analysis indicated that, between yield component characters and result most importantly, were fruit weight, fruit diameter and fruit length which were main supporting character of variance in hybrid result of the crosses. Descriptive results of fruit yield and quality characters showed three to five classes with the highest number of individuals around the mean value for each character.Simak Baca secara fonetik    Fruit weight, crown weight, fruit length, fruit diameter, flesh thickness, core diameter, total soluble solid (TSS), total acid, vitamin C, pH, plant height, and peduncle length, were characters controlled by nuclear genes.   Key words : hybridization,  variability, Smooth Cayenne, Queen, genotype

Abstract

The objective of this study were to obtain information about genetic parameters of agronomic characters of sorghum populations derived from Single Seed Descent (SSD) method, and to estimate selection differensial and also to select of F4 population that have a high yield and medium plant height . The experiment was carried out at Leuwikopo Farm, Darmaga, Bogor from January to April 2014. The genetic material were F4 population derived from SSD. The results showed that based on the skewness and kurtosis values, all of the agronomy characters observed in this study were poligenic controlled and influenced by additive gene action. The genetic coefficient of variability values for all parameters varied from intermediate to high in F4 population. Agronomic characters in F4 responded positively to selection because of high broad sense heritability estimates. Correlation analysis showed that plant height, number of leaves, stem diameter, panicle length, panicle weight and 100 seed weight have significant and positive correlation to grain yield/plant. Differential value with selection intensity 10 % based on grain yield/plant will increase grain yield/plant 83.89 % and plant height 8.91 % in the next generation, whereas differensial value based on grain yield/plant and plant height will increase grain yield/plants 68.33 % and plant height 0.26 % in the next generation. It means that selected plant were expected increasing yield 83.89 % or 68.33 % in next generation. Keywords: heritability, cefficient genetic variability, correlation analysis, selection differential
