Abstract

Extension of jatropha planting on coastal sandy soil is an effort to look for an alternatif area to other soil types, this experiment is one of a series experiment aiming to classify jatropha based on their drought resistance, and to determine watering interval causing drought stress. The experiment was arranged using Split Plot Design with watering interval (once in 1, 3, 5, 7, and 9 day (s)) as main plot, and jatropha genotypes (IP-1A, IP-1M, IP-1P, IP-2A, IP-2M, IP-2P, Unggul Lokal (NTB), Gundul and Daun Kuning) as sub plot. The seeds of genotypes were planted in black polybag with coastal sandy soil media. The parameters observed were plant height, stem diameter, number of leaf, leaf width and plant dry weight, and the data collected were analyzed using Analysis of Variance, DMRT, Regrression and Cluster Analysis. The result showed that IP-1A, IP-2M, Gundul and IP-1M are the resistant genotypes, whereas Unggul Lokal, Daun Kuning, IP-2A and IP-2P are the susceptible genotypes. Once in one and three day (s) are optimum watering intervals, and once in nine days is a watering interval causing drought stress. Keywords : jatropha, drought, watering, coastal sandy soil

Abstract

ABSTRACTDevelopment of Jatropha, an important tropical biofuel crop, to coastal sandy soil is an urgent situation due to more limited of fossil fuel in one side, and high potency of coastal sandy land that has not been utilized yet. Tolerant and sensitive genotypes of Jatropha were treated with drought stress using watering interval, and their responds on the vegetative growth and yield were studied in this reasearch. Drought stress significantly decreased all vegetative growth parameters observed, except the number of branch. Different jatropha genotypes had different number of branch, number of leaf, root surface area, total of root length, root diameter, plant dry weight, shoot root ratio and light absorption. IP-1A genotype had the highest yield, i.e 33.54 g of dry seed plant-1 (equal to 0.15 ton ha-1), in the first year.Keywords: biofuel, sand, watering

Abstract

Implementasi Undang-Undang 41 Tahun 2009 tentang lahan pertanian pangan berkelanjutan masih perlu untuk ditingkatkan. Kabupaten Purworejo memiliki luas total 103.481,75 ha yang tediri dari sawah,lahan kering dan kebun campur. Peningkatan pembangunan yang cukup tinggi menyebabkan Kabupaten Purworejo rawan terjadi alih fungsi lahan terutama lahan pertanian ke non pertanian. Penentuan lahan pertanian pangan berkelanjutan diharapkan dapat mengendalikan laju alih fungsi tersebut. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menentukan parameter untuk memetakan LP2B dan LCP2B, menentukan dasar perhitungan untuk menilai antar parameter LP2B dan LCP2B, menentukan kriteria pengelompokan karakteristik lahan pertanian pangan sebagai LP2B dan LCP2B dan memetakan lahan pertanian pangan berkelanjutan (LP2B) Kabupaten Purworejo. Data yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini meliputi data spasial dan data tabulasi Data spasial terdiri dari Peta Present landuse hasil interpretasi citra satelit resolusi tinggi kabupaten purworejo skala 1:25.000, peta topografi, peta kesesuaian lahan, peta batas administrasi kecamatan, dan peta lahan baku sawah. Data tabulasi terdiri dari kebutuhan dan ketersediaan pangan, neraca bahan pangan, alih fungsi lahan sawah, laju pertumbuhan penduduk, dan kebutuhan luas lahan. Hasil penelitian diketahui bahwa jumlah penduduk, produksi lahan sawah, luas tanam, luas panen, laju alih fungsi dan neraca bahan makanan dapat digunakan sebagai parameter untuk menentukan LP2B sedangkan kriteria pengelompokan lahan didasarkan pada sistem irigasi dan produkstivitas lebih dari 5,5 ton/ha dengan IP lebih dari 1,75. Berdasarkan hasil analisis kabupaten Purworejo memiliki total luas kawasan pertanian pangan seluas 38.562 ha yang terdiri dari 27.850,18 ha lahan basah dan 10.712 ha lahan kering. Dari luas tersebut yang menjadi LP2B basah seluas 25.826 ha dan LP2B kering 5.243 ha. Lahan cadangan pertanian pangan berkelanjutan basah (LCP2B basah) 2.024 ha dan cadangan pertanian pangan berkelanjutan kering (LCP2B kering) 5.469 ha.

Abstract

The pond bottom soil of Inceptisols mixed with Ultisols (I-U) and Vertisols (I-G) with the proportion of (70:30); (50:50); (30:70) showed the improvement of clay fractions >30% compared with the control (100% Inceptisols). These mixtures were given basal fertilizer (quail droppings manure with dosage of 2 tons/ha/month), Urea, and SP36. Cultivation system was divided into two stocked: fish ponds with 50 fish/m2 and ponds without fish. The best mix with the basal fertilizer was further treated with fertilization treatment (1 ton/ha/month of quail droppings manure) 3 times within 42 days of larval rearing. Physical and chemical soil analyses showed an increase of total soil porosity (> 50%), decrease of SG, BD, and permeability (medium), pH > 5, the CEC > 20 cmol (+) kg-1, and the C/N ratio < 6.5. The proportion of the best mix of 30% I : 70% U and 50% I : 50% G with 3 times of the fertilization frequency gave significant improvement of water quality, chlorophyll-a, diversity of plankton, benthic algae, fish growth, and total biomass. The presence of mineral montmorillonite on a mixture of 50% I : 50% G was a very good sign of the bottom soil fertility.
