Abstract

The aims of the research is to identify chemical compounds of leaf Sernai (Wedelia biflora) and test their bioactivity as antiplasmodium against of Plasmodium berghei. Extraction of the compounds from the Wedila biflora leaf was done with methanol. To observe the bioactivepotency of the Wedelia biflora extract antiplasmodium test against with The 4-day test method was done. The Phytochemical test results using theLieberman-Burchard reagent positive for triterpenoids compounds and analysis by GC-MS chromatogram identified 45 compounds with anabundance peak maximum of 27.92% which is identified in the data base as kaur-16-en-18-oic acid. Abstract

The objective of the present study was to investigate useful of Wedelia biflora leaves extracts as  anti allergic caused by dermatitis allergic in mice. A total of 24 males Wistar mices were utilized as experimental animal in this study. The experimental animals were divided into 4 groups, and each group has 4 mices. The first group was a control which was injected with aquades (negative control), while three other groups (group 2 to group 4) were fed with   Wedelia biflora extracts orally at doses of 20 g, 40 g and 60 g per kg body weight, respectively, and the fifth group was a positive control which was injected with 10% ovalbumin, and the last group was given antihistamin drug (Loratadine) as compared control. All of experimental animals were injected with ovalbumin on day 1, 7, and 21, except for  negative control  which were injected with distillated water. The ectracts of Wedelia biflora were fed for 21 days. The inflammation areas were measured using a digital caliper and analysis one-way Anova. The results showed that the treatment of Wedelia biflora were resulted in reducing inflammation size significantly (p<0.05) where the dose of 60 g/kg body weight was given the best result compared to other doses due to this value equivalent to antihistamine drug loratadine. We concluded that Wedelia biflora leaves extracts had the anti allergic effect.

Abstract

Quality of eggs might decrease when hens under heat stress. A further study found that a specific plant extracts could reduce the impacts of heat stress. The aim of this study was to determine effects of Salix tetrasperma plant extract in combination with extract of turmeric and neem to improve egg quality and productivity of laying hens under heat stress. Sixty laying hens strain Isa Brown of 6 months old were used and reared in individual cages. The feed and drinking water were supplied ad libitum. This study was conducted in a completely randomized design with five treatments (two controls and three treatments) and each treatment consisted of 12 replication. Treatment consisted of with (KP) and without (KP) commercial anti-stress supplement. Formulations of extract were S. tetrasperma 1.000 mg / l water (EJ), S. tetrasperma 1.000 mg / l + Turmeric 250 mg / l + neem 250 mg / l (EJ+K1), and S. tetrasperma 1.000 mg / l + Turmeric 500 mg / l + neem 500 mg / l drinking water (EJ+K2). The hens were exposed to heat stress for 5 hours per day at a temperature range of 34.0±1.0°C. Supplements were dissolved in drinking water and were given for 30 days in the morning and noon. Results showed that a single extract of S. tetrasperma or the combination of an extract of turmeric and neem were significantly increased thickness of eggshell (P<0.05), but did not affect color of egg yolk, height albumin, egg weight, and HU value. Extract of S. tetrasperma combined with turmeric and neem extract dissolved in drinking water for 30 days in laying hens reared under heat stress could not improved quality of the eggs, but may increase thickness of the egg shell and cause decreased water consumption. Abstract

The effect of jaloh extract combined with probiotic and chromium on the haematology profiles and ND antibody vaccine of broiler given heat stressABSTRACT. The purpose of this study is to determine the respons of chicken broiler under heat stress that given drinking water contained extract jaloh combined with probiotic and Cr mineral in the profile of haematology and antibody respons of Newcastle Disease vaccine. Twenty four of 20-day old Cobb broiler chickens were randomly assigned and devided to 6 treatment groups. Completely randomized design was used in this study. The treatments were as follows: 1) chickens under heat stress, given jaloh extract, probiotic, and chromium (P1); 2. chickens under heat stress, given jaloh extract and probiotic (P2); 3. chickens under heat stress, given jaloh extract and chromium (P3); chickens under heat stress, given jaloh extract (P4); 5. chickens under heat stress without given jaloh extract nor chromium and probiotic (P5); and 6. chickens given no heat stress and jaloh extract nor chromium and probiotic (P6). Extract jaloh dose applied is 1.000 mg/lt water, dose of probiotic is 108 cfu/lt drinking water, and chromium given in the form of chloride chromium with dose 1000 ug/lt water. Local heat stress is provided by increasing cage temperature to the range of 33.0 ± 1°C during 5 hours per day u within 15 days. Jaloh extract, probiotic, and chromium treatments in drinking water were given at 2 hour before cage temperature reaching 33 ± 1oC and were stopped being given after 1 hour, when cage temperature back to room temperature. Blood was taken before chickens were ethanuatiated. The result suggested that giving jaloh extract to combine it with probiotic, and chromium has no significant effect in hematology profile. When combined extract jaloh with chromium (Cr), has potencial capability to stimulate improvement built of antibody (as immunomodulator) on broiler chicken heat stress.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan mengetahui kadar proksimat lemak pada ikan nila yang diberi suplemen tepung daun jaloh yang dikombinasi kromium dan dipapar stres panas. Sebanyak 30 ekor ikan nila dengan panjang 1,3-1,5 cm, dibagi menjadi enam perlakuan dengan lima kali ulangan yang terdiri atas pakan komersil pada suhu 29±1° C (P1S1), pakan komersil yang dikombinasi tepung daun jaloh pada suhu 29±1° C(P2S1), pakan komersil yang dikombinasi tepung daun jaloh dan kromium suhu pada 29±1° C (P3S1), pakan komersil pada suhu 35±1°C (P1S2), pakan komersil yang dikombinasi tepung daun jaloh pada suhu 35±1° C (P2S2), dan pakan komersil yang dikombinasi tepung daun jaloh dan kromium pada suhu 35±1° C (P3S2). Setelah 15 hari, dihitung kadar proksimat lemak menggunakan metode Soxhlet dan Folsch. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa rataan kadar proksimat lemak menurun. Berdasarkan uji statistik rancangan acak lengkap faktorial menunjukkan adanya pengaruh yang sangat nyata (P<0,01) oleh suhu dan pakan serta interaksi suhu dengan pakan juga berpengaruh sangat nyata (P<0,01) terhadap kadar proksimat lemak. Dari hasil penelitian disimpulkan bahwa pakan komersil yang dikombinasikan daun jaloh dengan kromium dapat menurunkan kadar proksimat lemak ikan nila yang terpapar stres panas.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan mengetahui kadar proksimat kolesterol ikan nila yang diberi suplemen tepung daun jaloh yang dikombinasikan dengan kromium dan diberi pemaparan stres panas. Sebanyak 30 ekor ikan nila dengan panjang 1,3-1,5 cm, dibagi menjadi enam perlakuan dengan lima kaliulangan yang terdiri dari pakan komersil pada suhu 29±1° C (P1S1), pakan komersil yang dikombinasi tepung daun jaloh pada suhu 29±1º C (P2S1), pakan komersil yang dikombinasikan dengan tepung daun jaloh dan kromium suhu pada 29±1º C (P3S1), pakan komersil pada suhu 35±1° C (P1S2), pakan komersil yang dikombinasi tepung daun jaloh pada suhu 35±1° C (P2S2), dan pakan komersil yang dikombinasi tepung daun jaloh dan kromium pada suhu 35±1° C (P3S2). Setelah 22 hari, kadar proksimat kolesterol dihitung dengan menggunakan metode Liebermann-Burchad. Rata-rata kadar kolesterol ikan nila setelah diberikan perlakuan adalah P1S1 (1,125±0,086), P2S1 (1,007±0,015), P3S1 (0,763±0,026), P1S2 (1,190±0,0115), P2S2 (0,679±0,016), dan P3S2 (0,974±0,018). Hasil statistik menunjukkan bahwa kombinasi pakan berpengaruh sangat nyata (P<0,01) terhadap kadar kolesterol ikan nila. Pemberian kombinasi pakan dapat menurunkan kadar kolesterol ikan nila. Kesimpulan, pakan komersil yang dikombinasikan daun jaloh dengan kromium dapat menurunkan kadar kolesterol ikan nila yang terpapar stres panas.

Abstract

The research has been conducted to determine the effect of 3% acetic acid, 3% citric acid, and combination of acetic acid and citric acid, 1.5% each on protein content of broiler carcass. The experiment was designed by a factorial analysis of variance (Anova). The first factor is control without any treatment (P0), carcass immersion in 3% acetic acid solution (P1), carcass immersion in 3% citric acid (P2), and carcass immersion in combination of acetic acid solution and citric acid, 1.5% each (P3). The second factor was the time after immersion contain of 3 levels: 0 hours (W1), 4 hours (W2), and 8 hours (W3). Data were analyzed statistically by analysis of variance. Broiler carcass immersed in acetic acid and citric acid solution as well as the time of application showed no difference effect on protein content (P>0.05). In conclusioin, acetic acid, citric acid, and the time after dipping reaching 8 hours did not affect the protein content of broiler meat. ____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ Key words: broiler carcass , citric acid 3%, acetic acid 3%, protein content

Abstract

This study aimed to determine the immersion effect of broiler carcasses in 3% citric acid, 3% acetic acid, and combination of citric acid and acetic acid with concentration of 1.5% each on the total plate count of bacteria E. coli. Eight broilers carcasses (dissected into 2 parts) were divided into 4 treatment groups with 2 times repetition and 3 times observation at 0, 4, and 8 hours after dipped. The control treatment (K0) without dipped into acid solution. Broiler carcasses in the first (K1), second (K2), and the third (K3) treatments were dipped into 3% acetic acid, 3% citric acid, and combination of 1.5% acetic acid and 1.5% citric acid respectively. Data were analyzed using analysis of variance. The average of E. coli count in K0 at 0, 4, and 8 hours post dipping were 5.2±0.061, 6.8±0.99, and 7.0±0.107 log 10 cfu/g of chicken meat respectively. In similar observation time with K0, the average of total E. coli count were 5.5±0.373, 6.0±0.023, and 6.0±0.242 log 10 cfu/g of chicken meat in K1, 5.3±0.166, 6.0±0.143, and 6.0±0.084 log 10 cfu/g of chicken meat in K2, 5.7±0.041, 5.9±0.92, and 5.8±0.058 log 10 cfu/g of chicken meat in K3 at 0,4, and 8 hours post dipping respectively. Statistical analysis showed that the immersion of broiler carcass in acetic acid and citric acid solution were significantly (P <0.05) decrease the number of E. coli. There were interaction between immersion of broiler carcass in organic acids and observation time which significantly decrease the number of E. coli (p <0.05). In conclusion, the immersion of carcass chicken in 3 % acetic acid, 3% citric acid, and their combination reduce the amount of E. coli. Key words: chicken carcass , citric acid 3%, acetic acid 3% , Escherichia coli

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan menilai  aktivitas antiplasmodium ekstrak metanol daun Wedelia biflora terhadap Plasmodium falciparum pada ikubasi 32 dan 72 jam secara in vitro. Kultur Plasmodium  menggunakan metode candle jar dan uji aktivitas antiplasmodium dilakukan dengan metode mikrokultur seacara in vitro. Aktivitas antiplasmodium dinyatakan dengan nilai inhibition concentration (IC50) yaitu   kemampuan menghambat 50% pertumbuhan Plasmodium.  Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa  nilai IC50  pada kultur selama 32 dan 72 jam berturut-turutsebesar 5,253 dan 276,142 µg/ml. Disimpulkan bahwa ekstrak dari daun sernai (Wedelia biflora) mempunyai aktivitas sebagai antiplasmodium dan daya kerjanya paling baik pada kultur 32 jam.
