Abstract

A long-term climate variations in the western Indonesian region (e.g. Sumatera) were evaluated using precipitation data as a proxy. The result showed that there was a long-term climate variation over Sumatera region indicated by a decreasing trend in precipitation (drying trend). Moreover, the long-term precipitation trend has a strong seasonality. Remarkable decreasing trend at a rate of 3.9 cm/year (the largest trend) was observed during the northwest monsoon (DJF) season, while the smallest decreasing trend of 1.5 cm/year occurred during the southeast monsoon (JJA) season. This result suggested that the Sumatera Island experienced a drying trend during the northwest monsoon season, and a dryer condition will be more frequently observed during the southeast monsoon season. The long-term precipitation over the Sumatera Island was linked to coupled air-sea interactions in the Indian and Pacific oceans. The connection between the seasonal climate trends and sea surface temperature (SST) in the Indian and Pacific oceans was demonstrated by the simultaneous correlations between the climate indices (e.g. Dipole Mode Index (DMI) and the Niño3.4 index) and the precipitation over the Sumatera Island. The results suggested that both the Indian Ocean Dipole (IOD) and the El Niño-Southern Oscillation Index (ENSO) have significant correlation with precipitation. However, remarkable correlations were observed during the fall transition of the IOD event. Keywords: Climate variations, Dry season, Precipitation, Sumatera and Kalimantan, Wet season.

Abstract

This study aims to determine how the description of validity, practicality and effectiveness of Student Worksheet Based Mind Map in Primary School has been developed. This research is designed in descriptive form to explain exactly what is the development of Student Worksheet Based on Mind Map. The use of descriptive method aims to obtain an overview of the development of Mind Map Student Worksheet in depth, detailed and intact with regard to its validity, practicality and effectiveness. The type of data taken is descriptive quantitative data type, where data is taken from direct observation by the researcher related to LKS development, LKS validation and limited trial through science learning using LKS based on Mind Map which have been prepared. The results of the research are: 1) LKS based on Mind Map of development result stated valid, practical and effective and feasible to be used in elementary school science teaching based on expert validation result, legality test by student and teacher response. 2) The result of LKS test based on Mind Map shows satisfactory result that is the average ability of scientific work of student equal to 85% with very good category and result of student learning reach completeness learn classically with achievement equal to 82,7%

Abstract

Mechanical neck pain has the same high prevalence with low back pain, and commonly found in many of physiotherapy practice. Combination of Mulligan technique and Soft Tissue Mobilization are one of manual therapy technique highly effective and efficient to care the case of mechanical neck pain but still very rarely used by physiotherapist in fields of practice. This study aimed to know the effectiveness between Mulligan technique – Soft Tissue Mobilization and only Soft Tissue Mobilization to the increasing range of motion extension, rotation and side flexion cervical on the mechanical neck pain. The study design was a pre test – post test control group design using two group of samples are control groups that given intervention Soft Tissue Mobilization and treatment groups that given a combination of Mulligan technique and Soft Tissue Mobilization. Measuring instrument used for data collection was goniometer, that the goniometer was used to measure the range of motion extension, rotation and lateral flexion of the cervical either before the intervention and after the intervention. Sample of this study was 32 people who divided into 2 groups of samples were 16 people in the control group and 16 people in the treatment group. Samples in the control group had a mean age of 35,69 with male of 7 people (43,8%) and female of 9 people (56,2%) as well as limitations of the right direction were 12 people (75%) and left direction were 4 people (25%). Whereas in the treatment group had e mean age of 35,94 with male of 10 people (62,5%) and female of 6 people (37,5%) as well as limitations of the right direction were 11 people (62,5%) and left direction were 5 people (31,2%). The results of hypothesis testing using independent sampel t-test showed a significant difference between the mean post-intervention ROM extension, rotation, lateral flexion of the control groups and the mean post-intervention ROM extension, rotation, lateral flexion of the treatment groups, with value p < 0,05. It is suggests that the Mulligan technique and Soft Tissue Mobilization resulting increase range of motion extension, rotation, and side flexion of the cervical that significantly greater than only Soft Tissue Mobilization on the mechanical neck pain. Thus, it can be concluded that the Mulligan technique and Soft Tissue Mobilization better than only Soft Tissue Mobilization to the increasing range of motion extension, rotation, and side flexion cervical on the mechanical neck pain.

Abstract

Subacromial impingement syndrome is pain caused the emphasis of the supraspinatus muscle tendon between the acromion and the humeral tuberosity. Pain in subacromial impingement syndrome cause reduction of shoulder functional activity. Handling the problem of impingement syndrome, many modalities are heating, electrical stimulation, manual therapy and exercise therapy. This study aimed to compare result between the combination of ultrasound therapy and traction shoulder toward caudal (group 1) and combination of ultrasound therapy and Codman pendular exercise (group 2). The duration of treatment was given 3 times a week for 2 weeks long. Sampling of this research was 32 people each group of 16 people. This research was true experimental study using pre test and post test design with measurement SPADI (Shoulder Pain and Disability Index) Result of hypothesis testing using independent t-test is found p > 0.05 showed no significant differences between group 1 and group 2. Conclusions in this research that combining of ultrasound therapy and traction shoulder to caudal are proven equally effective with ultrasound therapy and codman pendular exercise to reduce pain and improve functional shoulder joint activity in patient with impingement subacromial syndrome. There for the further study it is recommended a multicentre study using three combination therapy (Ultrasound, traction and pendular exercise) for reducing pain and improving functional shoulder joint activity with impingement subacromial syndrome

Abstract

Many athletes who suffer Patellofemoral Pain Syndrome (PFPS), they using kinesiotape while playing or less than two weeks, this condition make a question of there are efficacy when used kinesiotape while playing and practicing. The purpose of this study to ensure the use of kinesiotape for three days did not differ with adhesive placebo in reducing the risk of repetitive injury and q-angle in patients with patellofemoral pain syndrome (PFPS). The experimental research method to design randomized clinical trial design. Sample of 17 athletes who suffer from PFPS and time of observation for three days. Divided into two groups, kinesiotape groups (n = 9) as the treatment and placebo groups (n = 8) as a control. Measurement instruments used were Functional Movement Screening (FMS) and Q-angle. The results of this study, kinesiotape group able to reduce the risk of repetitive injury with p = 0.002 (p <0,05). Placebo group was also able to reduce the risk of repetitive injury p = 0.01 (p <0,05). Kinesiotape able to decrease q- angle with p = 0.004 (p <0,05). Placebo group was also able to reduce the q-angle with p = 0.008 (p <0,05). At different test measurements FMS using independent t-test p = 0.777 (p> 0.05), and a different test with q-angle measurements using the Mann-Whitney test p = 0.63 (p> 0,05). The conclusion that the use of kinesiotape and adhesives placebo can reduce the risk of recurrent injury and the degree of q-angle for three days. It is clear that using kinesiotape have the same effectiveness with placebo were not elastic adhesive while playing a game and practicing.

Abstract

One of health problem in child with special need is existed at birth (congenital), such as Down Syndrome. Child with down syndrome often get balance disturbance in stand which causes he cannot keep the body posture from the disturbance. This condition may causes the problem with his further motor development. There is neuro developmental treatment and sensory integration method in physiotherapy. The study aims to compare the combination of  neuro developmental treatment and sensory integration with neuro developmental treatment in child with down syndrome who get balance disturbance in stand. The study is an experimental research using randomized pre and post-test group design. The samples were 18 children with down syndrome which got balance disorder in stand. The study spent two months. There were two groups. The group one was treated using neuro developmental treatment and group two was used neuro developmental treatment and sensory integration. The Measuring instrument used  sixteen balance test which was included pre (0-session) and post (6-session) test for each subject. The descriptive data for both of groups are age: 2-4 years old children with down syndrome, sex: male and female, height: 70-85 cm and weight: 8-13 kg. The pre-test data of group one does not show normal distribution, but the post-test data shows normal distribution. Both of  pre-test and post-test data of  group two show normal distribution. According to compatibility test to both of groups, the hypothesis test used post-test data. The variable of sixteen balance test that used independent sample t-test both of groups which p value= 0,034. This study has two conclusions. First conclusion is got from the percentage of static sixteen balance test variable which  shows p value < 0,05. The value illustrates that the using the combination of neuro developmental treatment and sensory integration is better than just using neuro developmental treatment to improve  the balance of stand.

Abstract

Stroke patient would have impaired activities of daily living. One-sided weakness of extremities, poor body control, and gait instability. Rehabilitation in stroke patient, effective and can improve the function of the impaired limb. Exercise can provide the functional activity of learning and apply the basic premise that the capacity of the brain is able to reorganize and adaptable so with targeted exercises it can be improved. This study aimed to compare the efficiacy of conventional methods, applications kinesiotaping, and MRP method in improving the gait pattern of stroke patients. The study has pre and post test with control group design using 3 groups. There are 10 people in each group. The first group was given conventional intervention methods, group II given Kinesiotaping application, and the third group was given the intervention using the MRP  with duration of exercise 3 times a week with a time of 60 minutes for 4 weeks. Data in the form of pre-test and post-test patterns of stroke patients analized by using Wisconsin Gait Scale. Samples were 30 divided into 3 groups. In the conventional group had a mean age of 62.3 years with a number of men 5 men and 5 women. At Kinesiotaping group had a mean age of 65.1 years with a number 6 men and 4 women. While the MRP group had a mean age of 62.6 years with a number 6 men and 4 women. Results of hypothesis testing using Anova showed a significant difference between the (average of the WGS scores after intevention of the three groups, with value of p<0,05. The comparison on each method showed that the Kinesiotaping application and MRP have significant difference, but the Kinesiotaping application showed no significally difference with MRP. The conclusions in this study that the conventional methods, Kinesiotaping application and MRP has different efficacy on improfing gait pattern of stroke patient.

Abstract

Penelitian ini ditujukan untuk mengetahui  pengaruh pemberian TENS terhadap peningkatan ketajaman visual pada kondisi kelelahan mata.  Penelitian dilaksanakan pada mahasiswa Desain Komunikasi Visual Institut Seni Indonesia (ISI) Denpasar selama kurun waktu bulan Juli – Agustus 2013. Secara keseluruhan sampel berjumlah 15 orang yang memenuhi kriteria inklusif untuk dilibatkan dalam studi eksperimental satu kelompok perlakuan (pre test – post test one group). Aplikasi TENS dengan frekuensi rendah (20 Hz), burst mode, durasi 30 menit, diberikan selama 6 sesi dalam 6 hari berturut – turut. Elektroda positif di dekat telinga, dan elektroda negatif ditempat sepanjang perjalanan saraf, yakni di sebelah lateral mata. Ukuran elektroda yang digunakan adalah 2,5 cm berbentuk bulat. Evaluasi pengukuran ketajaman visual  menggunakan Snellen Chart.   Pada pengujian hipotesis untuk mengetahui perbedaan ketajaman visual sebelum dan sesudah perlakuan, dilakukan uji beda rerata Paired Samples t-test. Hasilnya didapatkan nilai p = 0.000 (p < 0.005) yang berarti ada perbedaan yang bermakna pada nilai rerata ketajaman visual sebelum dan sesudah perlakuan. Nilai rerata ketajaman visual sebelum perlakuan adalah 18.40 letter, sedangkan nilai rerata sesudah perlakuan adalah 30.40 letter. Hal tersebut berarti bahwa TENS memberikan peningkatan yang bermakna terhadap ketajaman visual pada kondisi kelelahan mata.   Pemberian TENS dapat meningkatkan ketajaman visual pada kondisi kelelahan mata. Maka dapat disimpulkan bahwa hipotesis penelitian diterima.

Abstract

Pantai selalu menyesuaikan bentuk profilnya sedemikian sehingga mampu meredam energi gelombang yang datang. Sering pertahanan alami pantai tidak mampu menahan serangan aktifitas laut (gelombang, arus, pasang surut) sehingga pantai dapat tererosi, namun pantai akan kembali kebentuk semula oleh pengaruh gelombang normal.. Simulasi model dengan menggunakan perangkat lunak NEMOS dapat digunakan untuk mengetahui perubahan garis pantai yang terjadi dan memprediksikannya. Data yang digunakan mencakup data primer dan sekunder. Data primer yaitu data gelombang, batimetri, dan sampel sedimen dasar laut. Sedangkan data sekunder yaitu data angin dan data pasang surut. Metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah metode kuantitatif dengan penentuan titik sampling menggunakan metode purposive sampling. Metode analisis data menggunakan metode analitis dan pendekatan model menggunakan perangkat lunas CEDAS-NEMOS. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa Perubahan garis pantai Ujong Blang selama 2008 – 2018 diperkirakan mundur sebesar 53,10 meter sepanjang 1,73 km dengan luas lahan yang mengalami kemunduran garis pantai (erosi) sebesar  86.318,90 m2 (8,63 Ha) dan maju sebesar 51,61 meter sepanjang 0,42 km dengan luas lahan yang maju (akresi) sebesar 22.755,55 m2 (2,27 Ha).

Abstract

Motor development in humans will continue to evolve from the womb to adult hood. Daily activities undertaken will increasingly severe and complex in each phase of development. The balance is a major componentin maintaining the posture of the human body to be able to straight and maintain body position. Musculoskeletal system plays an important role in maintaining the balance of the human body. Physical activity can lead to lack optimal anstatic equilibrium. The study wasaimed at Training Combination of Core Stability Exercise and Ankle Strategy Exercisedid not Increas of Core Stability Exercise For Static Balance on Students S1 Physiotherapy StikesAisyiyah Yogyakarta.This study is an experimental study with Randomized Pre and Post Test Control Group Design. Samples in this study were 16 students StikesAisyiyah Yogyakarta which will face semester4 of physical fitness lab and research time for 6 weeks. Divided in to two groups, group-1(core stability exercise) and group-2 (combination of corestability exercises and ankle strategy). Measurement instrument used is functional reach test are measured before treatment(0-session) and after treatment (18-session) on each subject. The result savailable in this study descriptive data samplein both groups; age20-22years, male gender and female, height 149-170 cm and weigh37-78kg. The results test stated static balance data group-1 p = 0,000 and group-2 p =0,025. Data before and after treatment 1 group-normal distribution. Then the data before and after the treatment group-2 normal distribution. Based on the compatibility test both variables in both groups, the test of hypothesis using data afte rtreatment. Variable static balance in the two groups using hypothesis independent sampel t-test p value=0,626. The conclusions available p values??>0,05. This value explained Training Combination of Core Stability Exercise and Ankle Strategy Exercise did not Increas Static Balance Of Core Stability Exercise On Students S1 Physiotherapy StikesAisyiyah Yogyakarta.
