Abstract

This study examined the impact of the Firm characteristics and the investmen opportunity set against executive remuneration. This study also explained the role of institutional ownership in moderating the relationship between firm size, sales and growth of the cash compensation. Data was taken from a listed company in Indonesia Stock Exchange 2011-2014 which has an executive compensation data in Swa Magazine survey. The compensation data are taken from Survey conduct by Swa Magazines, not directly from annual and financial reports. This is because very few Indonesian public companies that explicitly stated their remunerations in Annual Reports or Financial Reports. Investor could have additional information to invest in stock market. Data were analyzed using OLS Regression. A Company is fundamentally good and a trusted is a company that has an assets, sales, and high managerial compensation, but has a majority of institutional ownership of the total ownership structure. This study used institutional ownership as a moderating variable not managerial ownership such as in previous studies. That wascaused by the capital market condition in Indonesia as the concentration of institutional ownership is higher than the market or management. The results showed that the firm characteristics has an effectto the company’s executive remuneration. Furthermore, institutional ownership has a negative moderating effect on that relationship. That results wasaccordance with the Power Theory that the high institutional ownership may limit the amount of executive compensation.

Abstract

Various technological approaches have been developed in order to help those people who are unfortunateenough to be afflicted with different types of paralysis which limit them in performing their daily life activitiesindependently. One of the proposed technologies is the Brain-Computer Interface (BCI). The BCI system uses electroencephalography (EEG) which is generated by the subject’s mental activityas input, and converts it into commands. Some previous experiments have shown the capability of the BCI system to predict the movement intention before the actual movement is onset. Thus research has predicted the movement by discriminating between data in the “rest” condition, wherethere is no movement intention, with “pre-movement” condition, where movement intention is detected before actual movement occurs. This experiment, however, was done to analyze the system for which machine learning was applied to data obtained in a continuous time interval, between 3 seconds before the movement was detected until 1 second after the actual movement was onset. This experiment shows that the system can discriminate the “pre-movement” condition and “rest” condition by using the EEG signal in 7-30 Hzwhere the Mu and Beta rhythm can be discovered with an average True Positive Rate (TPR) value of 0.64 ± 0.11 and an average False Positive Rate (FPR) of 0.17 ± 0.08. This experiment also shows that by using EEG signals obtained nearing the movement onset, the system has higher TPR or a detection rate in predicting the movement intention.

Abstract

This research is a study of the relationship between work motivation and work environment on the competitive advantage that is developed by creativity and innovation. The objective of this research is to analyze the influence of work motivation and work environment on creativity and innovation in creating competitive advantage. This research conducted at tourism location in Indonesia and China. The sample determined by purposive sampling. The total respondent from this research is 368 respondents consist of 181 from Indonesian and 187 from China. Employing Partial Least Square (PLS) analysis, the results from outer models, inner models, and hypotheses testing by t-test are as follows: Work motivation has positive significant influence toward creativity. Work environment has a significant influence on creativity. Creativity has positive significant influence toward innovative. The implication from the conclusion below, suggest that tourism workers should increase work motivation because it could give positive feedback to an organization. Increasing work motivation also can increase creativity on an individual in facing dynamic environment to create competitive advantage and win over competitors.

Abstract

This research explores a detection of finger’s movement using Burg’s Power Spectral Density (PSD) as features vector. EEG signal is recorded using sampling frequency of 1000 Hz. Analysis of the signal is conducted by dividing signal into three segments; 1000 ms, 500 ms and 250 ms. Common Average Reference (CAR) and Support Vector Machine (SVM) are used in features extraction and pattern recognition. The result shows that the system can classify the finger’s movement with accuracy of about ±65,37% in 1000 ms of signal length.

Abstract

The purpose of this research is to confirm and integrate the Duggan & Horton (2004) and Robbins (2005) founding on the effect of career development on job satisfaction, and the impact of job satisfaction on employee performance. Existing literatures and researches are only talking about the influence of both career development and job satisfaction as independent variables on employee performance. The sample of this research was 80 employees from Bank Rakyat Indonesia (BRI) in Purbalingga. Those samples are determined using the Slovin method. Data were calculated and analyzed using the IBM Statistical Package for Social Science (SPSS) version 25. The results of this research indicate that (1) Education has a positive and significant influence on job satisfaction. (2) Training has a positive and significant influence on job satisfaction. (3) Work experience has a positive and significant influence on job satisfaction. (4) Job satisfaction has a positive and significant influence on employee performance.
