Abstract

Autoxidation of lipids is related to flesh deterioration and discoloration, as well as unpleasant flavors produced during processing and storage. This becomes a major factor determining fresh and frozen seafood products price. The aims of this research were to investigate the effect of two novel dietary supplementation antioxidants Vinlife grape seed extract and Herbalox rosemary extract on lipid oxidation during post-mortem storage of zebrafish (Brachydanio rerio) and the relationships between dietary antioxidants with the enzymatic antioxidant activities. Herbalox supplemented diet showed no harmful effects on growth or survival of zebrafish. However, the diet could not inhibit Thiobarbituric Acid Reactive Substances (TBARS) formation in zebrafish during post-mortem storage at 4 oC. Dietary Herbalox and Vinlife supplementation also showed no deleterious effects on growth or survival of zebrafish. The Vinlife supplementation efficiently suppressed TBARS formation in the zebrafish but the Herbalox supplementation. The two novel antioxidants had significant effects on catalase and glutathione S-transferase but not on glutathione peroxidase. These findings suggested that the supplementation with Vinlife was more effective than with Herbalox in inhibiting the formation of lipid oxidation products in zebrafish. Hence, Vinlife supplementation, could be a safe alternative method to improve oxidative stability of fish lipid contents. Key words: natural antioxidant, lipid oxidation, TBARS, GPx, CAT, GST

Abstract

Untuk menentukan lebar jalan di suatu komplek perumahan perlu diketahui peruntukan dari keberadaan komplek perumahan tersebut, sehingga jalan yang dibuat dapat melayani kebutuhan pemilik rumah.  Dari dasar inilah maka pada penelitian ini dibuat suatu persamaan model untuk menentukan lebar jalan pada salah satu komplek perumahan di kota Palembang yaitu Komplek Perumahan Bukit Sejahtera dengan meninjau beberapa variabel yang ada dalam komplek perumahan tersebut dengan beberapa type rumah didalamnya sehingga didapatkan lebar jalan yang ideal untuk dapat digunakan pada komplek yang sama pada perumahan yang lain.  Pemodelan lebar jalan pada komplek perumahan terdiri atas beberapa variabel yaitu : lebar jalan sebagai variabel terikat sedangkan panjang jalan, kecepatan kendaraan, arus kendaraan, jarak ke pasar, jarak ke kantor, jarak ke sekolah, jarak ke mesjid, jarak ke tempat olah raga dan rekreasi serta jarak ke pintu keluar merupakan variabel bebas.  Aplikasi terhadap lebar jalan hasil pemodelan dengan menggunakan model korelasi menunjukkan bahwa lebar jalan eksisting  untuk lebar jalan 4,00 m dan 4,50 m tidak perlu diperlebar dengan batasan kecepatan kendaraan 15 km/jam,  untuk lebar jalan 5,00 m tidak perlu diperlebar dengan batasan kecepatan kendaraan 20 km/jam,  untuk lebar jalan 5,50 m perlu diperlebar hingga 7,00 m dengan batasan kecepatan kendaraan 20 km/jam, pada jalan dengan lebar 6,00 m tidak perlu diperlebar bahkan kecepatan kendaraan dapat ditambah hingga 30 km/jam, pada jalan dengan lebar 7,00 m tidak perlu diperlebar bahkan kecepatan kendaraan dapat ditambah hingga 30 km/jam dan pada jalan dengan lebar 15,00 m perlu diperkecil hingga 11,00 m dengan batasan kecepatan kendaraan 60 km/jam.

Abstract

Aspect of Health Safety and Environment (K3) must be focused on education world, one of the place is Politeknik Negeri Sriwijaya (Polsri), a university located at Palembang that mainly focus on practice before theory. The practiced is done at workshop and laboratory. To prevent any accident, Health Safety and Environment (K3) application should be studied on teaching and learning process at workshop or laboratory of Polsri. Responses from correspondences was taken by questioners towards lectures, technicians, and students majoring Civil Engineering, Chemical Engineering and Mechanical Engineering, and later analyzed by Likert Scale.The grade results of Health Safety and Environment (K3) knowledge from lectures, technicians, students at workshop averaging on A and B range is lower than 50%. It shows that Health Safety and Environment (K3) knowledge must be increased especially on Engineering Major. The result of Health Safety and Environment (K3) equipments used by lectures or technicians is lower than 50% also during teaching and learninprocess, in the contrary Health Safety and Environment (K3) equipments used by students at workshop and laboratory is more than 50%. It is good if 100% always used by them to prevent sickness and accidentbecause of works. The result of Health Safety and Environment (K3) management application at workshopand laboratory is lower than 40% from lectures and technicians, and the result by students is lower than 50%. Students agree that Health Safety and Environment (K3) management already conducted at workshop or laboratory. Moreover, review and management of Health Safety and Environment (K3) at workshop and laboratory still need to be improved.

Abstract

Wilayah Tanjung Api Api yang berada di Provinsi Sumatera Selatan tepatnya di Kabupaten Banyuasin merupakan wilayah potensial yang dapat dikembangkan mengingat letaknya yang sangat strategis, hal ini tentunya dapat meningkatkan pertumbuhan perekonomian dan kesejahteraan masyarakat di Sumatera Selatan umumnya. Mengingat wilayah Tanjung Api Api terdapat pelabuhan laut dan pelabuhan penyeberangan menuju Bangka dan Belitung serta di wilayah ini akan dijadikan kawasan ekonomi khusus (KEK) sesuai dengan Undang-undang RI Nomor 39 tahun 2009 tentang Kawasan Ekonomi Khusus (Tim Bappeda Sumsel, 2012). Keberadaan infrastruktur jalan untuk mendukung keberlangsungan perkembangan kawasan ekonomi di Tanjung Api Api tentunya sangat dibutuhkan, karena tanpa jalan yang layak maka perkembangan tersebut akan terkendala karena putusnya jalur transportasi yang menghubungkan kawasan tersebut sehingga akan mempersulit pergerakan orang dan barang. Melihat kondisi infrastruktur jalan yang ada sekarang berupa jalan aspal yang sudah begelombang dan berlubang serta jalan beton dengan retakan dan patahan yang sangat membahayakan pemakai jalan baik kendaraan roda dua maupun roda empat akan mengakibatkan terganggunya kenyamanan selama dalam perjalanan menuju kawasan Tanjung Api Api.Beberapa penanganan kerusakan jalan dapat dilakukan dengan menggunakan standar penanganan kerusakan jalan pada lapisan lentur menggunakan metode perbaikan standar Direktorat Jendral Bina Marga 1995. Jenis- jenis metode penanganan tiap- tiap kerusakan adalah : metode perbaikan standar, perbaikan jalan dengan overlay, perbaikan jalan dengan Rigid Pavement, dan perbaikan jalan dengan Cement Treated Recycling Base (CTRB).Pemeliharaan prasarana jalan menuju Tanjung Api-Api harus dilakukan dengan memperhatikan 3 aspek yang ada yaitu aspek ekonomi, sosial dan lingkungan. Dimana aspek ekonomi berkaitan dengan pendanaan yang tersedia agar dapat digunakan seefektif mungkin terhadap pemeliharaan jalan dengan memilih teknik pemeliharaan jalan yang tepat sehingga jalan dapat berfungsi dengan baik sesuai dengan usia jalan yang direncanakan. Tinjauan terhadap aspek sosial yaitu dengan memperhatikan kebutuhan masyarakat dan pengembangan wilayah sehingga prasarana jalan yang ada sesuai dengan peruntukannya, sedangkan dari aspek lingkungan yaitu bahwa pemeliharaan jalan yang dilakukan tidak merusak lingkungan yang ada.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui kecenaan bahan kering dan bahan organik tingkat campuran silase sampah sayur dan daun gamal yang diuji secara in vitro. Penelitian ini menggunakan  Rancangan  Acak  Lengkap dengan 3 perlakuan dan 3 ulangan. Masing-masing perlakuan tersebut ialah R0 (daun gamal 100%), R1 (daun gamal 70%  + silase sampah sayur 30%), dan R2 (daun gamal 40% + silase sampah sayur 60%). Data yang diperoleh dianalisis dengan menggunakan analisis sidik ragam (ANOVA) dan uji lanjut menggunakan uji Beda Nyata Jujur (BNJ). Hasil analisis sidik ragam menunjukkan bahwa campuran silase sampah sayur berpengaruh sangat nyata (p<0,05) terhadap kecernaan bahan kering dan berpengaruh nyata (p<0,05) terhadap kecernaan bahan organik. Dapat disimpulkan bahwa perlakuan campuran silase sampah sayur dan daun gamal dapat meningkatkan kecernaan bahan kering dan bahan organik, perlakuan 40% daun gamal dan 60% silase sampah sayur menghasilkan persentase kecernaan bahan kering dan bahan organik yang terbaik yaitu (72,24% dan 68,19%).   Kata kunci : Silase sampah sayur, daun gamal, kecernaan bahan kering, dan bahan organik.

Abstract

ABSTRAKPengendalian hama dengan insektisida kimia telah menimbulkan banyak masalah lingkungan, terutama rendahnya  kepekaan  serangga  terhadap  insektisida kimia, munculnya hama sekunder yang lebih berbahaya, tercemarnya tanah dan air, dan bahaya keracunan  pada  manusia yang melakukan kontak langsung dengan insektisida kimia. Salah satu alternatif pengendalian yang cukup potensial adalah penggunaan patogen serangga, khususnya cendawan B. bassiana.  Mekanisme infeksinya yang secara kontak melalui kutikula dan tidak perlu tertelan oleh serangga menyebabkan  B.  bassiana  menjadi  kandidat  utama untuk digunakan sebagai agen pengendalian berbagai spesies serangga hama, baik yang hidup pada kanopi tanaman maupun yang di dalam tanah.  Rata-rata patogenisitasnya terhadap hama sasaran cukup tinggi, sehingga pemanfaatannya dalam pengendalian serangga  hama  perkebunan,  seperti  kapas,  kelapa sawit, lada, kelapa dan teh memiliki prospek sangat baik. Untuk pengendalian ulat penggerek buah kapas, Helicoverpa armigera telah ditemukan dua strain isolat, yaitu Bb4a dan BbEd10 yang efektif membunuh 80-87,5% ulat H. armigera hasil uji di laboratorium, dengan masing-masing LT50 mencapai 8,96-9,62 hari dan 19,69-22,27 hari dibanding strain B. bassiana yang lain (19-48 hari).  B. bassiana juga efektif untukm pengendalian serangga   hama kelapa sawit(Darna  catenata), penggerek batang lada (Lophobaris piperis), dan ulat pemakan tanaman teh (Ectropis bhurmitra). Konidia B. bassiana dapat diaplikasikan dengan cara disemprotkan pada kanopi tanaman, ditaburkan pada permukaan tanah, atau dicampur dengan tanah atau kompos. Temperatur dan kelembaban adalah faktor abiotik yang sangat berpengaruh terhadap pertumbuhan konidia B. bassiana, tetapi cahaya melalui panjang gelombang sinar ultraviolet juga berpotensi merusak konidia sehingga aplikasi pada pagi (< pkl. 08.00) atau sore hari (> pkl. 15.00) dapat menghindari kerusakan. B. bassiana aman bagi serangga bukan sasaran, terutama serangga berguna dan musuh alami. Temperatur dan kelembapan yang lebih stabil pada ekosistem tanaman perkebunan akan sangat mendukung peran B. bassiana dalam pengendalian hama utama tanaman perkebunan sehingga prospek pengembangannya sangat baik.Kata   kunci:   Beauveria   bassiana,   status   teknologi, prospek, hama perkebunan.  ABSTRACTStatus, technology and prospect of ecofriendly entomopathogenic fungus B. bassiana against insect pests of estate cropsChemical insecticides for pests control are causing environmental    problems,    such    as    reducing susceptibility of insect pests to a number of chemical insecticides, outbreaks of secondary pest, air and soil pollution, and human poisoned due to directly contact with the pesticides. Insect pathogen, a pest control bioagent, can be used as an alternative component control for reducing of chemical insecticide usage.  The entomopathogenic fungi, B. bassiana (Bals.) Vuill. is currently being developed as a potential of alternative bioinsecticide. Mode of action of the fungi is initially started  by  adhesion  and  penetrating  of  the  spore through insect cuticule, and its mycelium then develop inside the insect body prior the insect death. Its conidia will grow soon after the insect die. High pathogenicity will show when B.  bassiana expose to appropriate target pests.  Several Indonesian strains and isolates of B. bassiana have been proven to be pathogenic against several major insect pests of cotton, oil palm, pepper, coconut and tea. Two B. bassiana isolates, viz. Bb4a and BbEd10  were  found  to  be  effective  against  cotton bollworm, H. armigera with the average percentage of mortality by 80-87.5% based on laboratory study.  Both the LT50  and LT90 of the two isolates were 8.96-9.62 days and 19.69-22.27 days, respectively and these LT were shorter than that of other isolate, Fb4 (19-48 days).  B. bassiana  was also effective for control of the oil palm larvae (D. catenata), pepper stem borer (L. piperis),  and  tea  leaf  caterpillar (E.  bhurmitra).    B. Status, Teknologi, dan Prospek B. Bassiana  Untuk Pengendalian Serangga Hama (D.Soetopo dan IGAA Indrayani) bassiana can be applied by spraying method over the plant canopy, applied as soil treatment, or by mixing the conidia with compost. Temperature and humidity are the abiotic factors that able to influence the growth of conidia. B. bassiana spore is less active or even inactive when directly exposed to ultraviolet, therefore spraying conidia in the early morning (< 08.00 a.m) or in the evening (> 15.00 p.m) may avoid the reduction of conidia activity. B. bassiana is also safe to non-target insect including beneficial insect and natural enemies. Temperature  and  humidity  are  more  stabil  within estate plantation ecosystem and both will support the fungus  epizootic  development.  Therefore  using  B. bassiana seems to hold great promise in controlling the major insect pests of estate crops.Key words: Beauveria bassiana, status of technology, prospect, insect pest, estate crops.

Abstract

Roads was built on swamp areas should be consider the condition of the base soil, since the characteristics of the soil in swamp areas have always inundated and have a low soil carrying capacity (Subagyo, 2006).  One of effort that could be done to improve the existing soil condition was used fly ash as a material for soil stabilization (Indera et al, 2016; Mina et al, 2016). This study was conducted to analyze the enhancement of CBR value on various soil types in swamp area by the addition of fly ash. Testing on the values of index properties, compaction, and CBR values was done in laboratory base on ASTM and AASHTO standars.  The test results show that the type of soil at the location of the sampling is silty or clay gravel and sand, clay soil, and silty soil.  The reduction of optimum water content  after the addition of fly ash is the highest decrease of  20.92%. While the highest increase of dry content weight after the addition of fly ash was 0.904 gr / cm3. An enhancement in the value of CBR by the addition of 20% fly ash in the study area, however the increase magnitude depends on the existing soil types, ie 7.99% in the silty or clay gravel and sand, 6 - 8% in the clay soil and 0,22 - 5% on silty soil. This indicates that the addition of fly ash was the optimum used on the type of clay soil.

Abstract

Abstract The main purpose of this study is to analyze the learning management of family education through parenting class to improve parent’s positive parenting ability conducted in Melati Jayagiri Community Learning Center (CLC/PKBM), Desa Jayagiri, Kecamatan Lembang, Kabupaten Bandung Barat.The study used qualitative approach and descriptive method. The research subjects were 5 persons, consisted of 3 community learning center’s students (WB1, WB2 and WB3) and triangulation from the informants coming from 1 CLC manager (P1) and 1 CLC educator (NS1). The study taken place in Melati Jayagiri Community Learning Center, Jayagiri Village, District Lembang, West Bandung regency. As the results of the study, the following data are obtained: 1) The lesson plans were designed by managers and educators after conducting needs assessments, after that learning objectives were determined, lessons and tools related to learning elements were prepared, 2) Parenting class was conducted with  positive parenting as the main learning materials, and the supporting materials were conveyed in the form of storytelling, (b) the learning approach used was participative-andragogy, (c) the learning methods/ techniques used were discussions, lectures, practices and frequently asked questions and demonstrations, (d) the learning media were laptops, LCD, speakers (e) evaluation, (f) follow-up and (g) learning environment, 3) the Learning outcomes consisted of (a) cognitive, (b) affective,and  (c) psychomotoric, all aspects indicating progressive improvement.  The research recommends mutual wider partnership with other Early Childhood Education’s stakeholders for better management of this parenting class in the future.Keywords: family education, positive parenting, learning, management

Abstract

ABSTRACT This study aimed to analyze the effect of water temperature on the physiological condition and growth performance of freshwater eel elver Anguilla bicolor bicolor (McClelland, 1844). This study was conducted in March 2017 at the Physiology Laboratory of Aquatic Animal, Faculty of Fisheries and Marine Sciences, Bogor Agricultural University. The study used a completely randomized design with five different levels of temperature (22°C, 24°C, 26°C, 28°C, and 30°C) as treatments with two replications. The size of elver was 2?3 g. Fish were fed with 1 mm pellet containing 45% of protein. The feeding level was 7 % of fish biomass and the feeding frequency was two times a day. The results showed that temperatures range from 24?30°C could be used for freshwater eel elver rearing and 28?30°Cwere the best temperatures to support survival and growth performance of eel elver. A temperature of 24°C was the best temperature that could reduce the metabolism rate and did not cause stress on the elver. Keywords: elver, physiological conditions, growth performance, metabolism, temperature  ABSTRAK Penelitian dengan tujuan menganalisis pengaruh suhu terhadap kondisi fisiologis dan kinerja pertumbuhan elver ikan sidat (Anguilla bicolor bicolor McClelland, 1844) telah dilakukan pada bulan Maret 2017 di Laboratorium Fisiologi Hewan Air FPIK IPB. Penelitian menggunakan rancangan acak lengkap dengan lima perlakuan suhu berbeda (22°C, 24°C, 26°C, 28°C, dan 30°C) dengan masing-masing dua ulangan. Ukuran benih yang digunakan 2?3 g. Pakan yang diberikan berupa pellet berukuran 1 mm dengan kadar protein 45%. Jumlah pakan yang diberikan (FR) adalah 7% dari biomassa ikan dan diberikan dua kali sehari. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa kisaran suhu 24?30°C dapat digunakan dalam pemeliharaan elver ikan sidat, dan suhu 28?30°C merupakan suhu yang sangat baik untuk mendukung kelangsungan hidup dan pertumbuhan elver ikan sidat. Suhu media 24°C adalah suhu terbaik yang dapat menekan laju metabolisme dengan tidak menyebabkan stres pada elver ikan sidat. Kata kunci: elver, kondisi fisiologis, kinerja pertumbuhan, metabolisme, suhu
