Abstract

Efforts to increase the active learning that is centered on students in science learning process can be done through learning that emphasize reading skills, training, and clarification. The purpose of this study was to produce a prototype model of learning that can facilitate the role of teachers and students to achieve the purpose of active learning. REC prototype model of learning (reading, exercise, and clarification) for junior high school science teaching is designed to produce a model based learning students. This study design is a 4-D which consists of four main stages, namely; 1) Define (definition), 2) Design (Design), 3) Develop (Development) and 4) Disseminate (Deployment). The result of this research is a learning model prototype REC (reading, exercise, and clarification) for junior high school science teaching consists of sintakmatik, social system, the principle of reaction, support systems, instructional impact and impact accompanist.

Abstract

The aim of the study is to describe the validity of learning model of batu obsidianko for learning science of junior high school. The kind of research in descriptive. Subject of the study is student class VIII SMPN 2 Genteng odd semester 2016-2017 academic year. Technique to collect the data is questionair sheet for meaning validity of the model. Data is analized descriptively by using percentage. Finding of the research is the score validity of the model is 82,57% in average of expert validators. The average validity of user (teachers) is 83,33%. Both of the validators give score validity in very valid category. In conclussion the model of batu obsidianko is very valid for learning of science students class VIII SMPN 2 Genteng Banyuwangi.   Keywords: science learning, learning model, validity of learning model

Abstract

This article is the result of development research entitled of PEIK learning model for science learning in junior high school. The objective of this research is produce a learning model that valid, practice, and effective for science lesson in junior high school. The steps of this research using Borg and Gall design. The subject of this research is the students of class VIIA SMP Darul Hikmah Jember. Data collection techniques are tests and observations. Data analysis technique is descriptive qualitative and quantitative. The development research was conducted through 2 cycle, ie limited test (9 students) and class test (1 class). The results showed the average score of validity of the model (3 experts and 3 users) was 87.21 (valid category). Implementation model in the limited test obtained score 11 (good category) and class test obtained score 11 (good category). The effectiveness of the model in the limited test obtained the average score of student activity and student learning outcomes from cycle 1 to cycle 3 are (69.95%; 77.78%; 80.95%) and (0.30; 0.32; 0.58). The average score of student activity and student learning outcomes from cycle 1 to cycle 2 are (80.95%; 87.68%) and (0.70; 0.76). The conclusions of this research are PEIK model (Prediction, Experiment, Inference, Communication) valid, practical and effective for science learning.   Keywords: learning model, validity, practicality, and effectivity

Abstract

This article discusses about the remedial of several science misconceptions for students in Junior High School with PPE model (Peer Tutoring, Presentation, Evaluation). PPE model is the result of development model for remedial misconception from several science concepts. The purpose of this research are to describe several science misconceptions of students in Junior High School and describe the effectiveness of PPE model for overcome the students’ misconception. The research was conducted to 31 students of SMP 1 Kencong, Jember Regency, who experience misconception from several science concepts. The tecnique used to collect data are test and interview. The data analysis technique is descriptive qualitative.The result of the research shows that misconception for several concepts that happened to students are work concept (if a body have a force, it is also has work otomatically), kinetic energy concept ( if the speed of body increased three times, so the Ek becomes three times too, it is wrong ), on the concept of potential energy ( in freely falling bodies Ek = 0 and Ep windened, when the object approaches the ground. The effectiveness of the model to overcome the students’ misconception showed by  students’ positive response to the implementation of remedial learning with the model and decrease the number of students who have misconception by 17% in IXA class and 13,8% in IXB class,  for average of each concept.   Keywords: PPE model, remediation, misconception

Abstract

Quantum physics is one of the subjects on advanced physics. Characters of quantum physics is abstract and uses complex mathematical equations. The difficulties experienced by students in study of quantum physics related by character quantum physics and mathematical equations. Required learning model that is capable of quantum physics makes learning more effective and efficient. Learning model that was developed and implemented in the course of quantum physics is a POTS learning model that consists of four stages: preconditioning, organizing, thinking , and simulating. Development of model POTS using design 4 D (define, design, develop, desseminate). The results of the development model POTS is valid. Implementation of model POTS shows the average value of the effectiveness of the learning outcome indicators reached either category (76.85). Students learning activities using POTS models reaching the active category (74.02 %).
