Abstract

In order to spur the automotive and electronic industries to meet domestic needs and compete in the era of globalization, the development of manufacturing industries is not only based on large-scale industries, but also needs to be developed into Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs). The obstacles faced today are limited capital, human resources (HR), product development and marketing procedures. PT BesQ Sarana Abadi is a small and medium business (UKM) engaged in the business of making rubber parts. In order to improve competitiveness, PT BesQ Sarana Abadi is researched with the formulation of the right competitiveness strategy. The objectives of the study are: (1) to identify factors that influence the competitive advantage of rubber and automotive parts products; (2) analyzing internal and external factors that affect the competitiveness of rubber and automotive parts industry products using the Internal Factor Evaluation (IFE) and External Factor Evaluation (EFE) methods; (3) develop competitiveness strategies for the automotive and electronic spare parts products industry using Internal-External (IE) methods and Strengths, Weakness, Opportunities, Threats (SWOT) and Balance Score Cards (BSC); (4) formulating priority strategies to improve the competitiveness of rubber and automotive parts industry products using the Quantitative Strategic Planning Matrix (QSPM) method. From the analysis results, there are many weaknesses in the company. In this case a high opportunity value causes the company to operate, because in the IFE matrix the value of strength is greater than the value of weakness. In the EFE matrix, the opportunity value is greater than the threat. With the SWOT and BSC methods identified strategies needed, set the priority of the strategy by using the QSPM method.

Abstract

Agricultural development is currently prioritizing on the technical aspects and pays less attention to human factors which resulting in low empowerment of farmers. The patriarchal system which still prevails in rural areas causing the involvement of women in the decision-making process is still very low, so as the importance of empowering women in rural areas in order to make them more confident about themselves and are able to formulate and convey the problems efficiently. The research objectives are (1) to analyze the level of women farmers? empowerment, and (2) to analyze factors affecting the level of participation and empowerment of women farmers. Data were processed using quantitative analysis supported by qualitative analysis. The results obtained the level of women farmer?s empowerment in medium category, the activities of Women Farmers Group (KWT) categories of low in making decisions, increasing the additional income and distribute production, the medium category, namely access to information and regulate family food consumptions, and high category that aspect of utilizing their yards. Factors that mostly affect the empowerment of women farmers are a long time to cultivate the farm yard, the level of income, cosmopolitan level, motivation level, intensity of interaction within the groups, the development of technical capabilities, the intensity of the assistance, government policy support, social environment conduciveness, interpersonal, group, behavior in using media, planning, income utilization, and monitoring and evaluation activities.

Abstract

The general objective of the research is to describe and analyze implementation of adopted artificial insemination (AI) innovation on slaughter cattle?s farmers. Specifically, is to describe and analyze the perception of slaughter cattle?s farmers on AI in the three locations of research. Locations of the research are Kecamatan Geger Kabupaten Bangkalan and Kecamatan Mantup Kabupaten Lamongan in East Java Province and Kecamatan Penebel Kabupaten Tabanan in Bali Province. This research was designed as a correlation descriptive survey by both quantitative and qualitative approach. The number of sample is 240 respondents -who is the acceptors of AI- and by approach of stratified random sampling method. Data collection was completed with questionnaires, interview and field observation. Kruskal-Wallis Test and U Mann-Whitney Test were applied to analyze the data sample. The result of the research showed that the perception of the farmers on most of AI?s aspects are significantly different among locations of the research, with the exception of the phenotipe (physical appearance) of breed cattle and the artificial insemination services by inseminators. To be suggested that socialization or extension on AI should be conducted by different approaches to fit the characteristic of internal and external and AI?s perception of the farmers.Keywords: Perception, artificial insemination

Abstract

The objective of the research is to describe and analyze implementation and rate of adopted artificial insemination (AI) innovation on slaughter cattle?s farmers. Specifically, the objectives are to describe (1) the characteristics of internal and external of slaughter cattle?s farmers, (2) the implementation and the rate of AI?s adoption, and (3) the relationship of internal and external characteristics of slaughter cattle?s farmers and adoption of AI. The research is conducted at Kecamatan Geger Kabupaten Bangkalan and Kecamatan Mantup Kabupaten Lamongan in East Java Province and at Kecamatan Penebel Kabupaten Tabanan in Bali Province. This research is designed as a correlational descreptive survey. The number of sample is 240 respondents and using stratified random sampling method. Data collection is completed using questionnaires, interview and field observation. Structural equation modeling is applied to analyze the relationship and the influence pattern among variables. The average of AI implementation aspects by the farmers is 51.1% and the average of the rate of AI adoption is 2.39 years. The internal and external characteristic of slaughter cattle?s farmer simultaneously are directly and positively influence the implementation of AI and the rate of AI adoption.Keywords: cattle breeding policy, perception, artificial insemination

Abstract

The objectives of this research were to identify the internal and external factors related to Gapoktan performance and also to analyst the relation among the internal and external factors. The research conducted in March-May 2010 in South Lampung regency Lampung Province, the data were collected by interview technique using questionners to key persons. A number of 184 farmer groups respondents participated were randomized sampling from 20 sample of Gapoktan. Descriptive statistic and rank Spearman Correlation Test from SPSS 17.00 were used to analize the data. The result showed that internal factors such as farmer group activity, farmer group cohessivity, interaction among farmer group, the structure of Gapoktan?s organization, and leadership had positive and significant correlation with Gapoktan performance. While the position of farmer group, farmer group participation, and desicion making process had non significant correlation with Gapoktan performance. The external factors such as goverment policy, relationship with the other institution, capital loan, and extension intensity had positive and significant correlation with Gapoktan performance. Meanwhile, the change agent (PPL) performance had non significant correlation with Gapoktan performance. Most of variable both internal and external factors had a positive and significant relation to each others.Keywords: performance, associatian of farmer group, Gapoktan

Abstract

Abstrak. Prinsip tata kelola perusahaan (good corporate governance/GCG) menjadi salah satu pilar yang disyaratkan oleh Bank Indonesia dalam arsitektur perbankan Indonesia. Pada pendekatan ini, titik beratnya adalah pada upaya peningkatan kapabilitas Bankir. Permasalahan baru muncul dengan masuknya Generasi Y sebagai sebuah angkatan kerja baru. Kajian pustaka memerkenalkan generasi ini sebagai generasi yang memiliki tingkat pendidikan yang paling tinggi serta memiliki potensi yang besar namun generasi ini meminta perlakuan khusus. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk memahami keberadaan Generasi Y sebagai sebuah angkatan kerja baru dalam industri Perbankan dan menghasilkan sebuah strategi yang dapat digunakan oleh divisi sumber daya manusia dalam mengelola generasi ini. Penelitian menggunakan pendekatan diskusi kelompok terarah (focus group discussion/FGD) untuk memahami generasi ini. Tema yang dihasilkan dalam FGD dikonfirmasikan dengan metode confirmatory factor analysis. Survei pakar dengan metode proses jaringan analisis (analytical network process/ANP) dilakukan untuk mengetahui prioritas faktor Generasi Y dan prioritas strategi dengan pendekatan analisa benefit, opportunity, cost dan risk (BOCR). Hasil studi memberikan inferensi pentingnya faktor inherent Generasi Y dan perlunya pelibatan pihak eksternal dalam pengelolaan Generasi Y. Rekomendasi lain yang dihasilkan adalah pentingnya sikap proaktif dari Perbankan untuk mendekati Generasi Y sedini mungkin untuk memastikan ketertarikan generasi ini pada industri Perbankan.Kata kunci: generasi y, kepemimpinan, pengelolaan, perbankan, strategiAbstract. Good corporate governance (GCG) as mandated in Bank Indonesiass banking architecture, highlighting the importance of human resource to serve as catalyst to achieve business goals. New challenge arises by the coming of Generation Y into the workforce. Literature described this generation as the most educated and potential yet at the same time highlighting the need to address specific concern and preferences as hygiene factors for this generation. The research aims to dissect and portrays this phenomena and further presenting strategy to manage this Generation. Focus group discussion (FGD) use to deepen the understanding of the generation and further confirmed using confirmatory factor analysis (CFA). Expert survey conducted and related-factors are prioritized using analytical network process (ANP) by incorporating the benefit, opportunity, cost and risk (BOCR) analysis. The result of the study highlighting the importance of Gen Y factor and external involvement in developing engagement strategies. Abstract

As a part of ecotourism, marine tourism activities depend on the attractiveness of the marine itself. This marine tourism becomes one of promising marine industry for year to year comes. The attractiveness of the marine tourism is diversely including marine traveling, marine observing and many activities right on the coast and ocean per day, such as fishing, diving, surfing, canoeing as well as traditional ceremony which takes place right on the ocean or beaches. Businesses categorized as small, middle to micro business become supporting business in developing marine ecotourism particularly in small island.  Some of these developing businesses which support the marine tourism activity are small bars and restaurants, souvenir shops, renting equipments for snorkling, diving, surfing, jet skying, game fishing and boating, renting small transportation such as bicycles, motorcycles, cars, and some other services including translaters, snack selling including coconut selling and other economic generating activities.  The aims to the study are (1) to identify any small business which support marine tourism in small island, (2) to analyze small business management related to marine tourisme which able to awaken local community to achieve better local incomes, and (3) to perform strategic development of the small business supporting marine tourism in small island which can be applied individually or group of people.  Purposive sampling method was applied to obtain respondents of small island population, by means the respondents are determined based on the qualification made for the study. Scenario analysis was performed in order to obtain the link story, scenaries were performed, they were pesimistic, semi pesimistic, semi optimistic, and optimistic.  The developing strategy for small business management which supporting marine tourism of small island then was analyzed by using internal and external factors which included social, economics, social facilities, environments and policies, presumably all of these factors would affect the development of the marine tourism industry from now untill the years come. Analytical Hierarchy Process (AHP) was used in order to obtain the accurate decision made for determining strategic alternative of developing small business related to marine tourism in small island.  The obtaining strategic alternatives were (a) the use of a small island as an object for small business in marine tourism, (b) awakening of local community related to many sectors of marine tourism, (c) mechanism improvement of the marine tourism management in small island, (d) development of marine tourism facilities in the small island, (e) improvement of human/local capacity and capability which supporting the business, and (f) improvement of policies maikin and agencies.       All of these strategic alternatives were applied in strategic analisys for developing of small business in marine tourism sector which suitable to be applied in others small islands. It was also expected that these analysis strategics were able to accomodate many other stakeholders with their wills to evoke local community capacity in which in return this would be able to stimulate sustainable and natural resources based economic growth locally and nationally

Abstract

In recent years, shrimp farming have experienced a variety of problems, both technical and non-technical, causing the shrimp farm do not work properly (idle). In 2012 the Ministry of Maritime Affairs and fisheries formulate revitalization program which focused on the rehabilitation ponds channel through Demonstration Farm (Demfarm) program. The purpose of this study is to analyze the effectiveness of the implementation of the Demfarm program in the Blanakan District in Subang regency. The data has been analyze using qualitative analysis, quantitative analysis, SWOT analysis (Strengths, Weaknesses, Opportunities, and Threats), and AHP (Analytical Hierarchy Process). The result of the study shows that Demfarm implementation in Blanakan District, Subang Regency is quite effective. Blanakan District in Subang Regency is an ideal area for shrimp farm, the application of Demfarm technology can improve the productivity of farms  from 0-17  up to 7-75 tons / ha, the programs also help to establish the partnership system between farmers and the private sector. Shrimp farms have 0.148 IFE and 0.495 EFE, another most important thing for shrimp farming development in the Blanakan District is technology have 0.341. Shrimp farming worth to be developed, the value of Benefit Cost Ratio (B/C ratio) > 1, the Net Present Value (NPV) generated > 0 Break Event Point (BEP) the lowest production 7000 kg and the highest production is 7.500 kg, for BEP the lowest price is Rp60 000 and the highest price is Rp70.000

Abstract

The District of Bogor has potency as a human resources for shoes industry. Ciomas district is one of the central of shoes industry in Bogor. With all the potencies, the shoes industry is potential to be developed as one of export commodities. However, in reality, it is hard to grow because of some constraints, such as marketing and financial factors. The aim this research is : (1) to identify shoes industry in Ciomas Sub district, (2) to identify internal and external factor, (3) to formulate industrial expansion strategy of shoes in Ciomas Sub district. Research was executed in some small shoes industries at Ciomas Sub district in Bogor District. The data were collected from April to July 2008 including primary and secondary data. Primary data were obtained through field survey, interview with the owner of shoes industry and raw material supplier, while secondary data were obtained through book studying, related document and institution report. Information data of small industry were analyzed by using descriptive analysis, while quantitative data were analyzed by using IFE (Internal Factor Evaluation) Matrix, EFE (External Factor Evaluation) Matrix, IE (Internal External) Matrix, SWOT (Strength-Weakness-Opportunities-Threats) Matrix, and QSPM (Quantitative Strategic Planning Matrix). Small industry (IK) of self-supporting business shoes of Ciomas is a ?CV? form having its own financial capital without existence of partnership with number of labors ranges from 6-12 stripper and established for 5-10 years. It does not depend on collector, either raw material or marketing. Small industry of shoes worker Ciomas is a workshop doing cooperation with collector in procuring financial capital, production order and marketing. The number of labors which were employed by IK worker less than 6 people and established for less than 5 year. The strategy that can be applied by self-supporting business was balancing quality and showing up its characteristic to anticipate business emulation, extending market share in other big towns of Indonesia using promotion media, innovation and various product to increase selling price by utilizing technology, working with banking to develop business, introducing trade mark to promote product, having collaboration with related government or institution to increase managerial ability, monetary management and marketing, handling all production process to increase profit, using technology to increase production and extends market share. The strategy that can be applied by IK worker was searching other capital sources to decrease the dependency to wholesaler, having collaboration with related government or institution to increase managerial ability, monetary management and marketing, balancing quality and showing up its characteristic to anticipate business emulation, introducing trade mark to promote product, innovating various product to increase selling price by utilizing technology, producing qualified products and intensive in searching opportunity to sell product, apart from collector.

Abstract

The phenomenon occurs now, the mother who worked in formal hours unconsciously ignoring their children. The material which is received by children is not comparable to affection that should be given. Parents can just physically close to their children but not psychologically, so they did not feel the presence of their parents. Woman actualization that has been married is not always accompanied by good family communication  pattern to their childcare. Woman who have career but can not do the best caring for their children causing its own problem. The research was done to understand family communication female employee who have hours night time job manifested by individual characteristics, family characteristic, laissez faire communication pattern, protective pattern, pluralistic pattern, and consensual pattern. Social economic support, institution support, social system support, and mass media information through parenting reception-rejection. This research was conducted in Woman Correctional Institution Grade II A Bandar Lampung in April-July 2016. The result showed that mother age, mother educational, father earn, laissez faire pattern and protective pattern, family economic support and social system support significantly affect to affection attitude or parents reception care.
