Abstract

ABSTRACT Recently, telecomunication and information use optical device, that is information channel by using fiber optic cabel. To process the optical signal is required various component and its function that is called as integrated optics device. The basic structure for this fotonic device can be made from periodic structure that called as fotonic crystal name. The objective of this research is to understand respons of periodic lattice 2-dimensions through effective refractive method to electromagnetic wave. Propagation of electromagnetic wave is analyzed through matrix formulation that connect the wave amplitudes for every layer with incident wave amplitude and transmition wave amplitude. The characteristics respons of this structure to electromagnetic wave that incident to it can be stated by transmition curve of this periodic lattice. This research find that the various of system parameters can be used to design the structure respons of fotonic crystal as filter function.   Keyword : fotonik, device fotonik, integrated optics

Abstract

EVALUASI DAN PERKEMBANGAN PEMBUATAN BAHAN BAKAR KERNEL UO2 DI PTAPBBATANYOGYAKARTA Telah dilakukan evaluasi pembuatan bahan bakar kernel UO2 sertaperkembangannya di Bidang Kimia dan Teknologi Proses Bahan (BKTPB) – PTAPB - BATAN Yogyakarta.Pembuatan kernel UO2 telah dilakukan dengan metode gelasi internal maupun eksternal. Metode gelasiinternal dilakukan dengan cara kombinasi proses KEMA-HKFA (Keuringvan Electrotecnische Materialenat Arnhem-Hkernforchungsanlage) maupun dengan proses ORNL (Oak Ridge National Laboratory),sedangkan metode gelasi eksternal dilakukan dengan proses emulsifikasi NUKEM (Nuclear Chemie undMetalurgie Gmbh). Dengan metode gelasi internal, telah dilakukan berbagai optimasi kondisi prosesnya.Hasil sementara menunjukkan bahwa proses yang paling baik adalah proses ORNL menggunakan mediagelasi TCE (tricloro etilena). Dengan metode gelasi eksternal, telah diperoleh beberapa kondisi optimum,namun masih perlu dilakukan optimasi lebih lanjut. Untuk memilih metode gelasi internal atau eksternaltergantung pada kemudahan proses, murah secara ekonomi serta yang memberikan hasil terbaik.Pemilihan metode belum bisa diputuskan karena belum semua variabel proses dioptimasi. Penelitianmengenai pelapisan kernel UO2 menggunakan silikon karbida (SiC) maupun pirokarbon (PyC) barumerupakan tahap awal, sehingga masih diperlukan optimasi berbagai variabel prosesnya. Penelitianpembuatan kernel UO2 di BKTPB – BATAN Yogyakarta direncanakan untuk pembuatan inti elemen bakarbentuk bola untuk HTR (High Temperature Reactor) dan dikembangkan sebagai bahan awal prosespembuatan pelet (proses SGMP = Sol-Gel Microsphere Pelletization) untuk PHWR (Pressurized HeavyWater Reactor).

Abstract

Flow distribution is often a problem in the operation of the packed bed reactor. The problem is often referred as flow maldistribution and formation of localized hot spot region. This research is generally aimed to predict  fluid flow distribution in the packed bed containing porous media by finite difference method using the software MS. Excel. Model verification result shows conformity between analytic method and  result of calculation. Simple study of the finite difference method using the software MS. Excel can describe the fluid velocity profile in a packed bed containing porous media. This profile is similar with experiment of Kufner and Hofmann (1990) and Stephenson and Stewart (1986). The simulation was performed to determine the effect of process variables on the fluid flow velocity profile. Particle diameter influences fluid flow velocity. Bulk porosity also influences fluid flow velocity at axis up to certain distance from wall of reactor. Keywords: finite difference method, flow distribution, packed bed reactor

Semantic Change Analysis on Film “the King’s Speech”

Abstract

Semantic Change is the meaning of a word can indeed change through its use in a metaphor, and it is often mentioned as one of the significant factors in semantic change. Based on the types of semantic change, they are divided into four types namely generalization, specialization, pejoration and amelioration. This research aims to analyze semantic change by characters on the film The King’s Speech written by David Seidler to find the types of semantic change by using qualitative research, and the data were collected through the film script especially from the characters in the film. Based on the findings of the study, the researcher found two semantic change such as the semantic change of generalization reaches the highest number with 10 data (62.5%). It implies that the characters in the film gave the words which were containing the meaning of a word is broadening to include new concepts. The range of its meaning increases so that the word can be used in various contexts with a broader meaning than its neutral one. The semantic change of specialization with 6 data (37.5%). It implies that the characters in the film gave the words which were containing the meaning of the word is narrowed into the same class. The range of its meaning is decreased, and word can be used only in fewer contexts than before.

A Conversational Analysis of Grice’s Maxims Theories on Cooperative Principles at Undergraduate English Students

Abstract

This study was aimed to analyze students’ conversation based on Grice’s maxim theory at the English department of  Muhammadiyah University of Mataram. The method of this research was qualitative. The result of this research showed that students were followed the maxim of quantity is 60 utterances, followed the maxim of quality is 16 utterances, followed the maxim of relevant is 24 utterances, and followed the maxim of manner is 6 utterances. Violated maxim of quantity is 47 utterances, violated maxim of quality is 27 utterances, violated maxim of relevant is 50 utterances and violated manner is 89 utterances. Violated maxims often happen than followed the maxims, total of violated whole the maxims are 213 and total of followed whole the maxims are 106 because the speaker and participants are come from different cultures, using informal language and their purpose in communication to maintain their social harmony.

Abstract

Educational management in its strategic, managerial, and operational point of view determines the quality of education.  Educational leadership - being  the most important aspect of the educational management, together with the standard and human resources comprise the quality of education.  The good quality of education is, therefore, determined by the leadership. It follows then that good performance of leadership brings about the standard as well as human resources of education. Abstract

This research was conducted to know the reproductive performances of cows which are offspring of Simmental bull and PO (peranakan OngoIe) crossing. Identification of reproductive perfonnances need to know the abnormality that may cause reproductive retardation. The research was held used survey method with simple random sampling on 113 cows at three. Artificial Insemination Post in Agam, West Sumatera i.e Baso, Biaro and Pakan Kamis. The result showed that reproductive performances of the cows was optimum except on age first service, first service after calving and calving intervaL In addition, the difference of reproductive performances between the first and the second offSpring (Gl and G2) not significant

Abstract

The purpuse of this research is to determine the application of problem solving methods that can improve the creativity and achievvement studying statistics of science education student of FKIP UST Yogyakarta academic year. The methode of research is classroom action research consisting of four components of action that is planning, action implementation, observation and reflection. Data can be form of observation sheet, questionnaire and interview result and statistical achievement test. Quantitative data analysis technikques are calculated by descriptive statistics. The result shows 1. Student creativity increment 15.41 at cycle I and 15.71 at cycle II. Avarege percentage of pre cycle 52.90 with medium cotegory, in cycle I 68.30 with high category, and in cycle II 84.02 with high category. There was an increase in statistical achievement 25.97 in cycle I and 17.90 in cycle II. The average pre cycle score were 48.53, in cycle I 74.50 and cycle II 92.40.

Abstract

ABSTRACT Background: Malaria is one of disease caused by intracellular parasite called Plasmodium and transmitting by Anopheles spp mosquito. Area of Kepil I Local Government Clinic in Wonosobo District is one of malaria endemic area with 32.28‰ annual parasite incidence (API). Environmental factors included physical, biological and social influence the transmission of malaria. Objective: Analyzing environmental factors related to malaria occurrence in area of Kepil I Local Government Clinic. Method: This was a case control study. Participant of this study divided into two groups i.e. case and control group, each consisted of 70 subjects. As case group was malaria patients of Kepil I, taken by systematic random sampling technique, while control group was case’s nearest neighbor with same sex, similar age and economic status, and not suffering of malaria. Data was analyzed by chi-square test and odds ratio (OR). Result: Statistical analysis showed that the occurrence of malaria related to house condition (p=0.041), using of mosquito repellent (p=0.020), stall distance (p=0.005) and night outdoor activity (p=0.001), while closing doors and windows (p=0.194), using bed net (p=0.091), cattle existence (p=0.089) and night outdoor bathe, wash and defecation habit (p=0.168) had no correlation with malaria occurrence in area of Kepil I Local Government Clinic. OR value showed that risk of malaria increase 2.167 times in house with unclose wall and roof, 3.160 times in subject that not use mosquito repellent at night, 4.829 times in subject living in a house with integrated stall or the distance less then five meters, and 4.244 times in subject with night outdoor activity. Conclusion: Environmental factors related to malaria in area of Kepil I Local Government Clinic were unclose wall and roof of the house, not using mosquito repellent at night, existence of stall that is integrated with house or the distance is less than five meters and night outdoor activity. Abstract

Semakin kerasnya kehidupan menyebabkan banyak orang menjadi gelap mata. Mereka menghalalkan segala cara untuk memenuhi kebutuhan hidup mereka demi mempertahankan kelangsungan hidupnya, seperti: merampok, korupsi, mencuri, dan tindakan-tindakan kriminal lainnya. Salah satu tindakan kriminal yang sering marak di era sekarang adalah tindakan kriminal pencurian sepeda motor. Tidak hanya di malam hari dan di tempat yang sepi saja, di siang hari dan di keramaian pun para pencuri dapat melakukan aksi nekatnya dengan mudah. Maka dibutuhkan kewaspadaan yang ekstra untuk menjaga sepeda motor kita. Di era dimana saat pencurian sepeda motor ditakuti tetapi Handphone disenangi, inilah saatnya memanfaatkan teknologi dari ponsel yang telah dimiliki banyak pihak sebagai sistem keamanan serta kepraktisan untuk hidup lebih baik. Sistem ini dirancang agar dapat membunyikan alarm tanda bahaya dan mengirim pesan SMS tanda bahaya ke hp pemilik sepeda motor. Susunan perangkat keras sistem alarm motor ini menggunakan mikrokontroler AT89S52 yang berbasis SMS. Dengan terdiri atas 4 bagian utama rangkaian, diantaranya rangkaian sistem minimum mikrokontroler, catu daya, komunikasi serial, input/output. Pada teks SMS yang dikirim dan diterima dari ponsel menuju pusat SMS atau SMS Center dan mengalir dalam bentuk PDU (Protocol Data Unit).
