Abstract

ABSTRACTHookworm infection is still a public health problem in Indonesia because of its high morbidiv in school age children. Efforts to eliminate hookworm infection need complete understanding of its epidemiology and influencing factors. One of its important factors is the custom of wearing shoes among elementary school children. This study was aimed to analize the relationship between the custom of wearing shoes of pupils and their fathers jobs and hookworm infection rate at Sidomukti II Elementary School, Jenawi Village, District of Karanganyar, Central Java Province, $+om July 1991- April 1992. This is a case control study with ex post facto approach. The result showed signiJicant relation (p4.05) between the custom of wearing shoes and fFequency oj" hookworm infection among children under stuajv. The relation between custom of wearing shoes and their fathers job was not observed, however, because of the children customarily wearing shoescame)om dZfSerent social economics class as their fathers jobs are identiJied as farmers or labour ers and other than farmers or labourers. In conclusion, the custom of wearing shoes prevents contact between children and hookworms andin turn lowering morbid@.KEYWORDS School age children, social economic, morbidity rate

Abstract

It has been done the resistance test of chitosan/polysulfon composite membrane toward of solvent. Result showed that composite membrane was resisted to pH of 5.5. It was indicated by the highest swelling percentage, that is 75.48%. These result were supported by porous photo membrane using SEM that is across-section , up surface and bottom photo showed that happed change porous structure membrane but structure tying membrane can not experiencing of damage. Abstract

Lecturing activities in the campus should be in the form of student-centeredlearning, in which lecturers as the educators have a role to facilitate the learning activities tobe optimally running. However, the low activity of students has an impact on the learningoutcomes. One of the efforts to improve the students’ activities in learning is byimplementing the task presentation with the numbered-head system. Through this activity, itis expected that the students’ activity in the classroom would significantly improve andwould impact the learning out comes. This research has been applied in two cycles on theeven semester of 2010/2011 in the class of B2 (Non-Regular) Chemistry EducationDepartment. The result of the research showed that there was a significant improvement onstudents’ activities from 68,9 % in the cycle 1 up to 70,3 % in the cycle 2. The impact onstudents’ learning outcomes was also increased, from the average of 46,20 up to 66,47. Thestudents were in the perception of strongly agree (3,34) on the treatment given, therefore, theefforts on improving students’ learning activities and learning outcomes could be achieved.

Abstract

Fishery resources including scadjish (Restrelliger sp.), Small Shrimp (A cetes sp.), and Swimming crab (Portunus pelagicus) have a high nutritional value. It can be processed into meal through several procedures, so the product can be used as a substituted material to create a nutritious instant noodle. The objectives of this research were to study the #ct of jish meals as substituted material with diferent concentration to the physical and chemical quality of instant noodle produced and to find out what the optimal composition also whether there are any interaction of both factors. This research used factorial experimental design based on group random design, consisted of 2 factors: factor A (different fish meals): Scad fish meal (A I), Small shrimp meal (A2) and Swimming crab (Portunus pelagicus) meal (A3); and factor B (d@rent concentration) consisted of 5 level: 0%, 5%, I 0%, 15% and 20%. The analysis used was anabtsis of variance (ANOVA) followed by HSD 5%. The results of this research showed that there was signyicant eyct (P<0, 05) of dmrent fshmeals and concentration to the physical and chemical quality of the product. The type of meal has a signyicant @0t (P<0, 05) to the tensile strength. moisture, ash, protein, fat, and calcium content. Concentration treatment has a signficant eject (P<0,005) to the physical (brightness) and chemical quality, but there was no interaction of treatment to tensile strength, brightness, fat, and co/or of instant noodles (P>0, 005). The optimal compositions of protein rate (I 9, 77%) were achieved by 20% seadfishmeal; fat rate (19,93%) by 20% Small Shrimp meal, and calcium rote (42,525%) by 20% swimming crab meal. The favorite composition for instant noodle was achieved by I 0% swimming crab meal

Abstract

Vacuum Residue as feedstock derived from Pertamina Refinery Unit III was cracked in a fixed batch reactor under thermal and catalytic with single stage pyrolysis process using active alumina oxide (Al2O3) as a catalyst. The catalytic pyrolysis process carried out at a temperature 450°C in the presence of a varied catalyst to feed ratio 0.5-2.5 w/w% and varied of reaction times 5-30 minutes. While the thermal process performed under same operating conditions without presence the catalyst. The effect of alumina catalyst ratio on quantity and quality of yield product, the effect of operating conditions (reaction times) on yield distribution has been investigated. As a result, the cracked products are liquid, gas and coke residue. The yield of liquid products was dominant, the highest catalyst ratio showed the highest yield of the liquid product reached 63.1 wt% and the lowest yield of coke residue by 24.75 wt%. The highest yield of gas by 23.9 wt% was found at minimum catalyst used by 0.5 wt%

Abstract

Research and development is a research method which can be used to produce a certain product, and test the effectiveness of the product. In producing the product, the researcher firstly identifies the needs (using survey which is qualitative in nature), develops a product, and then tests the effectiveness of the product (using an experiment). The product can be in the form of a model, a pattern, a procedure, a book, a module, a package, or a program. The research procedure consists of: (1) initial study including a literature study, field study, and completing the initial draft of the product, (2) trying out the product with limited samples and then wider samples, (3) testing the product by an experiment and product socialization. Key words: research and development, product, education

Abstract

The Indonesian education system still needs to be developed and improved due to the fact that its result is still far from being satisfying. Active learning for higher education (ALFHE) is one of the learning models that can be implemented to facilitate students to achieve ´high order thinking and learning which is so far considered to be more appropriate to Indonesian situation. Cooperative learning is one of the basis in implementing active learning. Keywords : Cooperative learning, learning model, active learning.

Abstract

Two main resources of school financial management problems in Indonesia are (a) the low transparency and accountability, and (b) the inappropriate procedural operating standard. This research aims at developing school financial management system. This is a research and development (R&D) which implemented three main steps, they are (a) picturing the school financial management system, (b) developing the model, and (c) validating the model. There are two main results of this research. The first is the real picture of the school financial management system and the second is the model or procedural operating standard for financial management. After being validated, the models are proved effective. Key words: management, finance, quality procedure, transparency, accountability

Abstract

Three main resources of school financial management problems in Indonesia · are (a) the low transparency and accountability,(b) the inappropriate procedural operating standard, and (c) the inappropriate system operational fund calculating system. This research aims at developing school financial management system. This is a research and development (R&D) which implemented three main steps, they are (a}- picturing the school financial management system, (b) developing the model, and (c) validating the models. The subjects of the study are two state junior high schools in Magelang Municipality. There are three main results of this research. The first is the real picture of the school financial management system. The second is the model or procedural operating standard for financial management, and the third is the model for calculating the schooi operatio al fund. After validated, the models are effective models.
