Abstract

Aquaculture of floating net cages system at Lake Toba in particularHaranggaol developed rapidly, As uncontrolled development unit ofculture can cause water quality decreased in Haranggaol, Toba Lake sothat it can pass through water quality standard. This research aim to knowthe level of water pollution in Lake Toba Haranggaol using the STORETand Index Pollution Method then compare it without floating net cages. This research was done in May- July 2013. Sampling method used methodof purposive random sampling. Station was used for research was Station 1at environment of floating net cages and Station 2 at without floating netcages area. Result shown water temperature: 26-28 0C, brightness: 2,8-5,35meter, turbidity: 0,16-7.13 NTU, TSS: 12.36-19.36 mg/l, pH: 7,1-8,3, DO:4,3–6,3 mg/l, BOD: 0,4-1,7 mg/l, COD: 4,42-6,63 mg/l, NH3: 0,115-0,293mg/l, NO3: 0,306-0,814 mg/l, NO2: 0,001-0,015 mg/l, PO4: 0,038-0,188mg/land Colifecal: 8,6–22,2 MPN/100 ml. Based on the results of research therewere some parameters that have passed water quality standard atenvironment of floating net cages was 0,217 mg/l of NH3, 0,578 mg/l of NO3and 0,134 mg/l of PO4, while at without floating net cages area was 0,144mg/l of NH3, 0,401 mg/l of NO3 and 0,056 mg/l of PO4. Abstract

Mangrove is continuously under pressure due to various human activities. Lack of understanding about the importance of mangrove ecosystems and the increasing of life needs has sparked a mangrove conversion occurs. This research analyzed the conversion of mangrove in the district gebang, langkat from 2003 to 2012 using image of landsat ETM 7+ satellite of 2003 year and 2012 year and its impact to the economic situation of the fisherman. The landuse in district Gebang are ground, mangrove, rice field, pond, plantations, dryland, farming bush, residence, and water. The landuse of mangrove in the district Gebang decreased by 79,96% from 2003 to 2012. Extensive mangrove which have been converted into ponds is 276,96 ha, 1.520,46 ha of plantations, and 313,10 ha of farming bush. The catches of fisherman has decreased into 30,71% and fishing income decreased into 51,37%.Keywords : Land conversion, mangrove, landsat ETM 7+

Abstract

District Asahan has a large fishery resources. This is supported by the District Asahan shoreline reach to ± 58 km. Bagan Asahan Village sub-district of Tanjung Balai is located at the mouth of the Asahan river directly opposite with the Strait of Malacca. Fisherman from Bagan Asahan Village cath fisher by using gears. The most widely fishing gears were gill net, bottom gill net, longline, fishing rod, and traps (bubu). The purpose of this research was to identify fishing gear, included in the category of environmentally friendly or not and to find out the production of the fishing gear.Fishing gear used by fisherman of Bagan Asahan Village sub-district Tanjung Balai including a very environmentally friendly fishing gear and environmentally friendly. The result of research showed gill net fishing gear and fishing rod that very environmentally friendly while the bottom gill net, longline, and traps including gear type of environmentally friendly. Production result were obtained each gearas follows. Gill net was 509.7 kg/, bottom gill net was 1469.2 kg/month, longline and fishing grod was 404.89 kg/month and traps (bubu) was 959.6 kg/month.Keywords : Bagan Asahan Village, Fishing gears, Yield obtained.

Abstract

Indonesia is rich in fishery resources, but currently most exploited , one of them with the use of fishing gear in the water . For that a study has been carried out in the ocean fishing port of Belawan in July-September 2013, based on the statistical data of the ocean fishing port of Belawan and observing the purse seine and how to use it by doing an interview with purse seine fishermen . The use of purse seine fishing gear in Belawan is the highest compared to the four other types of fishing gear, to the author wants to see a business analysis of purse seine fishing gear . The method used was cluster sampling, sampling of primary data with formulas and Morgan Krejcek test samples taken 381 test samples totaling the number of 5000 population. Secondary data obtained from ocean fishing port of Belawan. Analysis of the data to calculate the catch per unit effort ( CPUE ) and business analysis. The result shows that the use of purse seine vessels is one that does not damage the ocean because of its use that much a few miles towards the sea and do not damage fish habitats. The analysis also shows that the using of purse seine fishing also more profit, the catching fishes are type of pelagic fish and do not too excessive.Key words : fishery resources, ocean fishing port of Belawan, Purse Seine.

Abstract

The research have been done on May – June 2014 in the Village Sunggal Srigunting North Sumatera. This study aims to determine the status of water quality in accordance with the standard Government Regulation No. 82 of 2001 and analyze the diversity macrozoobenthos. Sampels were collected from three stations by Purposive Random Sampling method. Physical and chemical parameters were analyzed using Storet method while biological parameters using Shannon-Wienner equation. The results of this research show that the water quality status of River Village is experiencing light pollution to the station I (agricultural waste) and pollution being experienced for the second station (sewage and industrial bath taps) and station III (domestic waste). The level of diversity found in the River makrozoobenthos Sunggal Srigunting Village North Sumatra province belongs to the moderate level of diversity with diversity values ranged from 1.35 to 2.24. Value diversity is highest at the third station of 2.24 and the value of diversity was lowest for the first station at 1.35, while the value of diversity in station II is equal to 1.83.Key Words: Diversity, Macrozoobenthos, Sunggal River

Abstract

Pantai Labu is a coastal area which has been developing their utilization by various human activities which affect the water quality. The study of the water quality can be known by biological analysis such as macrozoobenthos. The research includes retrieval and identification of macrozoobenthos and measurements of water physical-chemical parameters. The results showed that in Kecamatan Pantai Labu waters, there are 5 classes of macrozoobenthos that consisting of 37 species. The first station has a diversity of macrozoobenthos, that is moderate, the second station and the third station have a low diversity. The community analysis stated that the every station has no resemblance species inter point. Through pollution index that the first station and the second station are classified in mild blackened condition, while the third station is classified in good condition because it has an IP value of 0.06. Macrozoobenthos as bioindicators at first station are Corbicula javanica, Thiara scabra and Pheretima sp. for mild blackened waters, at second station is Littorina sundaica, whereas the third station is Mactra fragilis and Planaria sp. which indicates good water quality. Keywords : Pantai Labu, Macrozoobenthos Community, Coastal

Abstract

Toba Lake is a lake that is used as aquaculture land. Floating net cage activities in the Toba Lake has been done by the public since 1986, but the rapid development of floating net cage occurred since 1998 through the intensive cultivation net high fish density. This study aims to analyze potential areas for floating net cage ini Toba Lake Girsang Sipangan Bolon, Simalungun by the suitability matrix method. This research use the scorring method/weighting. Determination of weighting and scoring is done to put a value on criteria that support the aquaculture activities by linking the chemical physical parameters. These parameters include temperature, DO, pH, brightness, current, depth, BOD, and ammonia. The results showed that the suitability grade in Toba Lake Girsang Sipangan Bolon is very suitable and suitable class. This shows that Toba Lake Girsang Sipangan Bolon is a potential area for floating net cage.Keyword : Toba Lake, Floating Net Cage, Suitability Index
