Abstract

The low prosocial behavior of students can inhibit the developmental tasks of adolescent such as the inability of appreciating others and getting others’ respect. Group guidance can be used to improve students’ prosocial behavior. The aim of this study was to reveal the effectiveness of group guidance service with modeling techniques in improving students’ prosocial behavior. This quasi-experimental research with pretest and posttest control group design aims to find out whether group guidance services with modeling techniques can improve students prosocial behavior or not. Two groups were selected by using purposive sampling. They were selected from Sekolah Menengah Pertama Islam Terpadu (SMPIT) Rabbi Radhiyya Curup Tengah and Madrasah Tsanawiyah Pesantren Muhammadiyah Curup Timur. Each group consisted of 10 students. There were five meetings of group guidance service for each experimental and control group. The data of prosocial behavior were collected by using pretest and posttest, then they were analyzed by using the Wilcoxon Signed Ranks Test and Kolmogorov-Smirnov Two Sample with SPSS version 16.00. The findings of this study were: (1) there was a significant difference between students’ pretest and posttest of prosocial behavior in the experimental group, (2) there was a significant difference between students’ pretest and posttest of prosocial behavior in the control group, (3) there was a significant difference between posttests of students’ prosocial behavior in the experimental and the control group. Based on those findings, it is concluded that the students’ prosocial behavior can be improved through group guidance with modeling techniques. Therefore, it is suggested for counseling teachers to do group guidance by using modeling techniques, especially in enhancing prosocial behavior and other social behaviors.

Abstract

The purpose of this research is to find information about Organizational Culture in vocational high school of the country District Lubuk Begalung Padang City. This is a descriptive research. The population is 137 teachers and research sample is 62 teachers that taken by proportional stratified  random sampling.The instrument of this research was a questionnaire with Likert scale models that had been tested for validity and reliability. Colected data were analyzed by using the average (mean) formula. The results of this research shown the organizational culture in vocational high school of the country District Lubuk Begalung Padang City achieve good category  with an average score 4,00

Abstract

This research was done because of phenomenon of the students’ low motivation to get the achievement at school. Self concept and social support from the teacher have a correlation for creating the students’ potential giftedness to get an achievement in learning. The role of the teachers, especially the teachers of guidance and counseling are needed in improving the students’ achievement at school in order to improve their learning achievement. This research has purpose to find the social support, self concept, and achievement motivation of SMPN Kecamatan Batang Kapas Pesisir Selatan. This research is also done for knowing the contribution of social support and self concept through achievement motivation of SMPN Kecamatan Batang Kapas Pesisir Selatan. This research used correlational approach which has purpose to know how is the contribution among the research variables. The population of the research is the students of SMPN Kecamatan Batang Kapas Pesisir Selatan. The amount of the population was 601 students. The sample of this research was 240 students. It had been taken by using simple random sampling technique. The instrument used was a questionnaire. The data was analyzed by using descriptive technique and the hypothesis testing was done by using path analysis. The result shows that: (1) social support is in the enough category with average score is 115.9 or 77.29 of the ideal score, (2)  the self concept is in the enough category with average score is 93.53 or 74.82% of the ideal score, (3) students’ achievement motivation is in the enough category with average score 114.4 or 76.27 of the ideal score, (4) the contribution of social support through the students’ achievement motivation is about 20.2%, (5) the contribution of self concept through the students’ achievement motivation is about 14.4%, and (6) the contribution of social support and self concept through students achievement motivation is about 25.7%

Abstract

This research aims to formulate guidance and counseling learning tool to optimizing social development of stuen and describe the level of appalicability used by theacher or counselor. the mthd used was ADDIE model development. the properness tes was done by five experts and the practicality tes was done by three teacher or counselor. the instrument used were scale likert, questionnaire and Focus Group Discussion (FGD). The data statistic gathered in this research was analyzed by using descriptive statistic analysis and non-parametric statistic analysis. Based on thes results, in general, it was conclueded that the guidance and counseling learning tool's developed was appropriate and could be used to help the teacher or counselor to optimizing social development student.

Abstract

The purpose of this study is to obtain information about employee job satisfaction at the Departement of Education Youth and Sports Padang Panjang City. This research is a descriptive research. The population in this study is all civil servants in the Departement of Education Youth and Sports City of Padang Panjang which amounted to 50 people. Sample size is determined by using Krejcie table as many as 46 people with Proportional Random Sampling technique. The instrument of this research is a questionnaire by using Likert scale model which has been tested its validity and reliabelity. The result of the reseacrh shows that job satisfaction of employees at Departement of Education Youth and Sports of Padang Panjang City in terms of job it self, opportunity for promotion, relationship with colleagues, awards, supervision from leadership and new work environment are in the category satisfied with level of achievement 81,87%.

Abstract

The purpose of this study is to find out the critical thinking skills indicators and aspects of prospective elementary school teachers in mathematics-science integration lectures on electrical circuits and mathematical logic lesson. This research uses random sampling technique in which 30 first semester students were chosen randomly from one of university in Padang region West Sumatera Indonesia. This research uses Research and Development (R & D). The critical thinking skills are seen from processes, observations, and tests. The process of critical thinking skills of prospective elementary school teachers on the average of critical thinking skills indicator is 84% in strategies and tactics, 80% in advanced clarification and 83% in elementary clarification, basic support, and inference. The result of observing the critical thinking skills of prospective elementary school teachers on the average of each lectures is significantly increased to be 81.9%. The results of pre-test and post-test were increased significantly. It is shown from N-gain of 0.7 to be medium category.

Abstract

One of the most important abilities in learning mathematics for elementary students is understanding math concepts. However, elementary students’ ability to understand the math concepts in Padang is poor. The reason behind the problem is caused by inappropriate learning methods used by teachers, such as memorization. Based on this problem, the researchers conducted experimental research using guided discoverylearning methods to overcome the problem and identify its effects on the students’ ability to understand math concepts. The populations are all elementary students at grade 5in Padang who were enrolled in group V, Kuranji sub-district, semester II academic year 2017/2018. The sample selection is done by random sampling. The experimental class is grade 5 students atelementary school 44 Kalumbuk and control class is grade 5 students at elementary school 20 Kalumbuk, Padang. The data are obtained from the initial ability tests and questions in understanding math concepts. The data are analyzed using the t-test and two-way ANOVA for interaction. The results of the analysis show that: (1) guided discovery learning methods is better than conventional learning, (2) students’ math concepts understanding with high and low initial abilities taught by guided discovery learning method gets better resultcompared to conventional learning, and (3) there is no interaction between learning through guided discovery learning method and initial abilities in influencing students' ability to understand math concepts.

Abstract

Abstract—Learning a foreign language by using social media at the University level is very important because social media has great potential to support student-centered learning as they are flexible, interactive, and resource–rich in nature. One of its drawbacks is the quality of online instruction that lead to unfavorable perception and perspective of the students. The objectives of this research are to analyze the students’ perceptions and perspectives in using Social Media as a tool in English Language learning. Qualitative and quantitative data were collected from the students of the English Study Program, Faculty of Education, the Islamic University of Riau. Research finding revealed that social media is very practical and useful for getting general information, knowledge and to increase their language competency. Abstract

Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk mengidentifikasi pengaruh metode pembelajaran guided discovery terhadap kemampuan komunikasi matematis siswa sekolah dasar. Metode penelitian ini adalah metode quasi eksperimen dengan rancangan penelitian the nonequivalent pretess-posttest control group design. Populasi dalam penelitian ini meliputi seluruh siswa kelas V SD kota Padang yang terdaftar pada gugus V kecamatan Kuranji. Pengambilan sampel dilakukan dengan teknik simple random sampling. Kelas eksperimen adalah siswa kelas V SD Negeri 44 Kalumbuk  dan kelas kontrol adalah siswa kelas V SD Negeri 20 Kalumbuk kota Padang. Data penelitian ini diperoleh dari tes berupa soal komunikasi matematis. Analisis data dilakukan dengan menggunakan uji-t. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa t tabel < t hitung (2,000 < 3,049), berarti  H0 ditolak dan H1 diterima. Hal ini menunjukkan bahwa kemampuan komunikasi matematis siswa yang mengikuti pembelajaran dengan metode guided discovery lebih baik daripada siswa yang mengikuti pembelajaran dengan metode konvensional. Hal ini berarti, metode guided discovery berpengaruh terhadap kemampuan komunikasi matematis siswa

Abstract

This article discusses efforts to improve employee performance in an organization. One approach taken to improve employee performance is by implementing coaching. Based on a collection of expert opinions it was found that coaching activities have a positive impact on both employees and leaders in improving employee performance. Although there are challenges in implementing coaching activities, with good planning and periodic evaluation, maximum results can be achieved.Keywords: employee performance, coaching, leadership
