Abstract

This quasi experimental research aimed to find out the effectiveness of guided inquiry learning model viewed by students’ mathematical conceptual understanding. The population of this research was all students of grade eighth of SMP Al-Kautsar Bandar Lampung ood semester in the academic years of 2013/2014 as many as 299 students who was distributed into eight classes (VIII A-VIII H). The samples were taken by purposive sampling and it was obtained that VIII E as experimental class and VIII F as control class.The design of this research was post-test only control design. The data of this research were the score of students’ mathematical conceptual understanding which was obtained by test. Based on the results of data analysis, it was obtained that the students’ mathematical conceptual understanding with guided inquiry learning was higher than conventional learning model. Thus, the implementation of guided inquiry learning model was effective viewed by students’ mathematical conceptual understanding.Penelitian eksperimen semu ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui efektivitas model pembelajaran inkuiri terbimbing ditinjau dari pemahaman konsep matematis siswa. Populasi penelitian ini adalah seluruh siswa kelas VIII SMP Al-Kautsar Bandar Lampung semester ganjil tahun pelajaran 2013/2014 sebanyak 299 siswa yang terdistribusi dalam delapan kelas (VIII A–VIII H). Sampel diambil secara purposive sampling dan diperoleh kelas VIII E sebagai kelas eksperimen dan kelas VIII F sebagai kelas kontrol. Desain penelitian ini adalah post-test only control design.  Data penelitian ini berupa skor pemahaman konsep matematis siswa yang diperoleh melalui tes. Berdasarkan hasil analisis data, diperoleh bahwa pemahaman konsep matematis siswa dengan pembelajaran inkuiri terbimbing lebih tinggi dari pembelajaran konvensional. Dengan demikian, penerapan model pembelajaran inkuiri terbimbing efektif ditinjau dari pemahaman konsep matematis siswa.Kata kunci: inkuiri terbimbing, konvensional, pemahaman konsep matematis
