Abstract

The major obstacles in the development of broiler raising is the expensive price of feed and the fluctuative price of DOCs. The cheap price of imported leg quarters reduces the competitiveness of the local broilers. Therefore, an effort to increase production efficiency is needed through integration between broiler raising and corn farmers and feed producers (integrated farming). The purpose of this study is to analyze the feasibility of integrating broiler raising with corn cultivation and feed production. Besides that, a simulation was conducted to analyze the effects of DOC price changes, broiler price and production capacity. The analyses showed that integrated farming and a mere combination between broiler raising and feed factory of a 10,000 bird capacity is not financially feasible. Increasing the production to 25,000 broiler chickens will make the integrated farming financially feasible. Unintegrated broiler raising is relatively sensitive to broiler price decreases and DOC price increases compared to integrated farming.   Key words: broilers, financial feasibility, integrated farming

Abstract

The increasing consumption of fossil fuels and the limitation of its availability are twomajor causes of the fluctuating trends of fossil fuels prices. They are also believed tohave created instability of certain feedstock prices since alternative energy used as thesubstitution of fossil fuels is based on this feedstock as well. This research is aimed onreviewing the correlation between the dynamic movement of the prices of crude palmoil (CPO) which is used in the production of biodiesel and the government policy ondeveloping renewable fuels using dynamics system approach. In particular, this researchwill examine whether policy to try increase CPO export tax to 20 % and to allocate 50%of CPO production for domestic need will influence the effort of fullfilling mandatorytarget for biodiesel to contribute at least 5% of the total national energy consumption by2025 and CPO prices trends.Keyword: dynamics system, CPO, biodiesel, fossil fuel

Abstract

Case of business portfolio for self financing of  Indonesia Research Institute for Tea and Cinchona is very interesting to study. In general, the research institute of tea in tea producing countries in the world receive financing from the funds cess or levy or Government Budget. In PPTK, is a very rare case because the status of PPTK is a corporate. The unit of research and development as a cost center to produce innovations to increase the competitiveness of national commodity tea as well as Cinchona, should be financed from the portfolio business unit. Therefore, portfolio business strategies are needed in order to play optimally the role of  PPTK accordance with its mandate. The method used to determine the position of corporate is SWOT analysis especially  method to the value of  IFE and EFE. Furthermore, to determine the position and strategize potfolio business units use Boston Consulting Group (BCG) matrix. The results showed that the value of its IFE and EFE (-0.14; 0.11) is in quadrant II that  position of stability/rationalization, which led to the Selective Maintenance Strategy. BCG matrix of the mapping results, the majority of the business portfolio in PPTK be in the Quetion Mark. One business unit shoul be divested is Stevia estate due to its position of the Dog business group. Meanwhile, the business unit of  Cash Cow group are unit of garden and black tea factory and tea experiment garden of Simalungun. In order to better self financing of PPTK, several business units in the group of Question Mark with specific strategies should be push to move into the star groups, namely (1) unit of superior plant material production of tea and cinchona; (2) unit of garden and green tea factory; (3) laboratory services and expertise; and (4) unit of production of white tea and tea packaging.

Abstract

Indonesia is the world’s larget tuna produser with contributing 15 percent to the world tuna market. However, the competitiveness of tuna fishery is still low. The aim of this research is to analyze the contribution of value chain of tuna fishery toward competitiveness of tuna industry in Cilacap. The study was conducted from April to September 2017. The results of analysis using using second order Structural Equation Modeling method (SEM) found that the value chain influenced the competitiveness of tuna industry with loading factor of 0.540 and significant p value. Tests on the model simultaneously proved that the model has been fit with the fulfillment of all fittings of the model. It gives indication with variables value, such as : Value of Chi-square is low with value 301.252; 0.072 for Root Mean Square Error of Approximation (RMSEA); 0.907 for Goodness Fit Index (GFI); 0.907 for (CFI); and 1.814 for minimum discrepancy (CMIN/DF). This research gives evidence that value chain has a significant impact toward competitiveness of tuna fishery industries. The best strategies to increase competitiveness of tuna fishery industries is increasing a value chain of of tuna fishery industries, Mainly from operational aspect, outbond logistic and services to raise tuna commodity productvity in global market.

The exports of manufacturing industry which consists of the export agroindustry and non-agroindustry, has an important role influencing the development of Indonesia's macroeconomic performance. This study aims to analyze the influence of manufacturing industry exports to Indonesia's macroeconomic performance. The study uses quarterly time series data from 1990 to 2009. Using VAR analysis model, the results of research are in short-term shocks to export agroindustry manufacturing has a positive effect on economic growth by 0.10%, but a negative effect on net exports, inflation, and exchange rates. Conversely, in the long term the shock has a negative effect on performance makrokonomi Indonesia. While the non-agroindustry export shocks in both the short and long term, has a positive effect on macroeconomic performance, except to the exchange rate has decreased in the long run.
