Abstract

This research aims to immobilization; characterize the enzyme of immobilized, test the effectiveness of the enzyme of immobilized. This research begins with the immobilization to process of enzyme lipase using activated carbon matrix, enzyme characterization covering of immobile determination of temperature and pH optimum of the enzyme of immobilized, as well as test the stability of work covering immobilized of enzyme the test thermal stability and repeated use. The results showed that the immobile of enzyme work optimally at 50oC of temperature and pH 6.5 with each activity 0.040 U/mL; research results also showed that the immobile of enzyme has higher thermal stability in comparison with the free enzyme: with the relative activity of 57.50% at the time of 45 minutes of exposure and the exposure time at 47.50% at 75-105 minutes and it can be used as many as six times with the relative activity of 52.5% in 6 times of use.

Abstract

Synthesis of N-4-O-asetilferuloylmorpholine from ferulic acid via indirect conversion methods with acetylation, chlorination and amidation (in situ) reactions have been conducted. The acetylation was carried out using acetic anhydride reagent in pyridine solvent at room temperature for 6 hours. The chlorination was performed with thionyl chloride in benzene solvent by reflux at 75°C for 4 hours, proceeded by in situ amidation utilizing morpholine in the presence of triethylamine and pyridine using dichloromethane solvent at room temperature. The target molecule as white crystalline solids with m.p. of 91-92°C. Characterization of these compounds was committed by FTIR spectrophotometry.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the potential of the methanol extract of the stem bark Lannea coromandelica (Houtt.) Merr. against Staphylococcus aureus and to analyze the main secondary metabolites. Staphylococcus aureus antibacterial activity test was performed by Mueller-Hinton agar medium whereas the secondary metabolite analysis of the methanol extract of the stem bark is conducted by GC-MS instrument. Results of research the methanol extract of bark Lannea coromandelica (Houtt.) Merr showed antibacterial activity against Staphylococcus aureus with inhibition zone diameter each at a concentration of 2.5% by 7.3 mm by 8.6 mm 5% and 10% of 10.4 mm. Selanjunya result of analysis by using GC-MS showed the presence of compounds 5-hidroksimetilfurfural and compounds 1, 2, 3-benzenetriol potential as an antibacterial Staphylococcus aureus. Furthermore, the results of analysis by GC-MS instrumeny showed the presence of compounds 5-hidroksimetilfurfural and compounds 1, 2, 3-benzenetriol potential as an antibacterial Staphylococcus aureus.

Abstract

Melochia umbellata (Houtt) Stapf. var. Visenia is plant species included in Malvaceae family. This spesies is known as paliasa and used as traditional medicine by the people of South Sulawesi. This study aimed to determine the secondary metabolites by reagents and toxicity characteristic testing from bark extract of Melochia umbellata (Houtt) Stapf. var. Visenia using Brine Shirmp Lethality Test (BSLT) method. The extract was prepeared by maceration ethyl acetate. Phytochemical test result showed that the ethyl acetate extract was containing the steroid compound, alkaloids and terpenoids. Toxicity test performed by shrimp Artemia salina Leach larvae was at 48 hours. The toxic effects of the extract were identified by the percentage of the number of shrimp larvae mortality using probit value analysis (LC50). The toxicity test of bark Melochia umbellata (Houtt) Stapf. var. Visenia extract showed that the ethyl acetate extract is toxic to A. salina  LC50 = 54,55 mg / mL.

Abstract

Analysis of chemical physics parameters on Mallawa honey has been done as density, viscosity, HMF, reducing sugars, sucrose and enzyme diastase. The results obtained showed that the average weight of honey Mallawa is 1.373 g / mL, the viscosity of 10.9651 P, HMF amounted to 49.120 mg / Kg, reducing sugar amounted to 70.752% w/w, sucrose at 3:25 w/w and enzymes diastase of 3.805 DN, This is according with ISO and IHC (International Honey Commition) that category Honey Mallawa still good enough for consumption

Abstract

Synthesis of phenethyl (O-acetyl-p-coumaroyl) (4) from p-coumaric acid (1) using phenethylalcohol was succesfully conducted via acetylation (2), chlorination (3), and esterification (4). The acetylation was performed using acetic anhydride in pyridine at room temperature for 6 hours, the chlorination was performed using thionyl chloride in dry benzene by reflux at 75oC for 4 hours, continued with esterification by in situ using phenethylalcohol in dry dichloromethane at room temperature for 4 hours. The structure of each step reaction product was identified using FT-IR spectroscopy. The compound 2 was obtained as yellowish crystal with m.p 201-203oC and the compound 4 was obtained as white crystal with m.p 68-69oC.

Abstract

This research is aims to prepare and characterization of montmorillonite intercalated Ni-Mo as a catalyst in the cracking process. Preparation is do by extracting monmorillonite of bentonite by decantation method. Monmorillonite synthesized with NaCl to obtain Na-monmorillonite. Ni-Mo/monmorillonite obtained by dissolving ammonium hepta molybdate (NH4)6Mo7O24.4H2O) with distilled water and refluxed with Na-monmorillonite for 6 hours and dried at a temperature of 120oC. Furthermore, nickel nitrate hexahydrate (Ni(NO3)2.6H2O) is dissolved in distilled water and refluxed with Mo-monmorillonite for 6 hours and dried at a temperature of 120oC. Ni-Mo/monmorillonite obtained is then calcined at a temperature of 600oC for 4 hours to activate and eliminate the remnants of organic materials. Characterization of Ni-Mo/monmorillonite do by XRD, XRF and SEM. Characterization by XRD showing the change in the content of monmorillonite, Na-monmorillonite, and Ni-Mo/monmorillonite. Characterization by XRF confirms the success of the creators do with increasing metal content of Ni and Mo in monmorillonite replace the position of the metal Na. Characterization by SEM showed highly significant differences in morphology of montmorillonite, Na-monmorillonite and Ni-Mo-monmorillonite

Abstract

Compound N-phenetyl 4-O-asetil ferulamide had been synthesized from ferulic acid and phenetylamine through esterification and indirect amidation method. Esterification reaction of ferulic acid with anhydride acetate was done in pyridine solvent at room temperature. Indirect amidation was perform by chlorination using tionyl chloride in benzene solvent at 70°C and continued by amidation with phenetylamine, catalyzed by pyridine in dichloromethane solvent at room temperature. the compound obtained is brown yellowish crystal with melting point 118-120°C. The rendemen of target compound is 53.81%.

Abstract

This research aims to produce DAG of the VCO through the substrate reaction of trans-esterification using lipase enzymes specifically C18-20 from rice bran (Oryza Sativa L.) immobiled of activated carbon as a catalyst. Phases of this research starts with the enzyme lipase do immobile using activated carbon; next enzymes of immobile used to produce DAG through the trans-esterification reaction using a VCO as a substrate and methanol as ko-substrate; DAG and methyl ester produced identified using FTIR instrument and GC-MS instruments. The results showed that there were three compounds DAG and three compound methyl ester produced trans-esterification reaction, namely (1) 1-laurin, 3-heksanoin esters of glycerol; (2) 2-laurin, 3-oktanoin esters of glycerol; (3) 1-laurin, 3-heksanoin esters of glycerol; (4) methyl ester oleic; (5) methyl ester stearic acids; and (6) methyl ester arachidat.

Abstract

Paliasa plants Melochia umbellata (Houtt.) Stapf var. Visenia is classified into species M.umbellata (Houtt.) Stapf which was potent to heal various of illness. The aim of this research to know secondary metabolites and its toxicity from extract chloroform stem bark of M. umbellata (Houtt.) Stapf var. Visenia. The step in this research were: maceration to obtain extract chloroform, phitotochemical assay to identify the group of secondary metabolites, and toxicity assay by using Bhrine Shrimp Lethality Test method. It was obtained 46 g of green concentrated exctract of chloroform. The result of phytochemical assay show that the extract contain steroid and alkaloid groups. The crude extract chloroform is toxic against Artemia salina with LC50 value is 53,57 µg/ml.
