Abstract

Abstract: Islamic reformation is an actual and controversial discourse in the history of Islamic thought. There are groups that considered Islamic reformation is a compulsion for actualization and contextualization of Islamic teaching; but the other refused it. They refused it because they considered that reformation contradicted with the character of Islamic absoluteness. Besides, they also think that reformation is product of western culture whereas it’s the adversary of Islam politically and culturally. This article will discuss about the essence of Islamic reformation; what the basis for Islamic reformation is; and, how the implementation of Islamic reformation is. From the analysis, it’s showed that Islamic reformation (tajdid) is a compulsion because the teaching of Islam pursued the efforts of rationalization and contextualization in accordance with the era. The compulsion of Islamic reformation needs three important things: theological base, base of norm, and historical. Keyword: Islamic reformation (tajdid).

Abstract

Abstract: The election processes of al-Khulafa’ al-Rasyidun maintained by placing forward discussion principle, even entangle the public participation. Bai’at-that always accompany the al-Khulafa’ al-Rasyidun election-have meaning that between the ruler and the ruled bound by social contract, so that enable reciprocal communications between them. Bai’at as locus for realization of social contract between mandate giver (umat) and mandate receiver (khalifah), giving better possibility to ruler (khalifah) to have strong legitimation, so that power can be run effectively. With bai’at, people is not a weak party so that power treat it arbitrarily, otherwise they have strategic role and position to propose criticism and control to governance process. Abstract

Abstract: As typical Indonesian education institute, pesantren with all its component, tradition, culture, and uniqueness have drawn attention many expert and researchers. Pesantren existence has given great contribution to enhancement of the quality of human life. Many role have been played by pesantren; in social, political, economics, cultural aspect; and of course religious aspect which its basic study. These realities in turn have invited the attention of many circles to continuously examine, checking, or studying dynamics, growth, and also existence of pesantren. Among the study result is Mastuhu’s research: Dynamics of System of Education Pesantren, a Study about Element and Value of Pesantren Educational System. With this masterpiece, Mastuhu trying to promote the form of study pesantren which do not merely touching manifest (visible) aspect, but trying to find the values which is consisted inside that manifest; so can found positive, negative, and plus-minus items from pesantren’s education which need and needn’t to be developed in national’s education system. Abstract

Abstract: Globalization, with its entire power, has serious implication for Islamic higher education’s existence, primarily related with tight and open competition. This competition necessitated Islamic higher education to continuously revitalizing its education system and management, also revitalization and improvisation on its marketing system. Islamic higher educations must proactive and creative, not only waiting still. Therefore, marketing management that widely used at company domain, substantively its system and spirit must be implemented and adapted on Islamic higher education’s marketing system. Abstract

AbstractSolar water heater used in this study is a type of solar water heater simple boxincorporating phase change material (PCM) with capacity of 100 liters of water, which is used asa shower. In general, research in Indonesia solar water heater does not use heat storagematerial, the use of excess heat storage material of box type solar water heater is, one that canbe used not only to heat water during the day but also at night. So the research is veryinteresting to study because it has use phase change material, heats water indirectly is verypossible. In this paper, will be on the pillowcase on how the use of PCM in the heats waterindirectly. Here also will be reviewed on the design of solar water heater with dimensions oflength 2 m, width 1 m, thickness 0.180 m, 0.250 m high, 2 m2 absorber surface area for acapacity of 100 liters of hot water and the heat generated is lost in the solar water heater perday was 8.36 MJ. PCM used are Stearic Acid (melting point 51.5 ° C). Test site is in the city ofMedan, Indonesia with 40 latitude 980 BT.Keywords: Solar water heater with storage material, PCM.

Abstract

The objective of this research is to study the effect of empty palm oil bunch compost (EPOBC) andthe application of phosphorus fertilizer of SP-36 on chemical characteristic of acid sulphate soils,rice growth and production (Oryza sativa L.). This study used a randomized block design factorial,with 2 factors: factor 1: compost EPOBC treatment (B) which consist of: B0 = 0 ton ha-1 (0g EPOBC/pot) ; B1 = 10 ton ha-1 (40 g EPOBC/pot); B2 = 20 ton ha-1 (80 g EPOBC/pot);B3 = 30 ton ha-1 (120 g EPOBC/pot) . Factor 2: fertilizer phosphorus (P) which consist of : P0 = 0kg SP-36 ha-1 (0 g SP-36/pot); P1 = ½ dose (1/2 x 135), advice equal with 0,27 g SP-36/pot; P2 = 1,0dose (1 x 135), advice equal with 0,54 g SP-36/pot; P3 = 1 ½ dose (1 1/2 x 135), advice equal with0,81 g SP-36/pot. The results of this research showed that EPOBC treatment significantly affectedsoil pH and Fe2+ reduction, C-organic, seed total and dry weight of rice. While the application ofSP-36 fertilizer non significantly affected P-available and height of plants. Combination betweenEPOBC and fertilizer SP-36 significantly increased seed total and dry weight of rice.Key words: acid sulphate soil, EPOBC, SP-36,rice

Abstract

This research was aimed to determine whether composting organic materials and varieties of riceplants of different IP 400 can reduce the rate of air temperature in rice vegetative phase and also toknow which varieties or organic matter are likely to be better in reducing the rate of air temperatureand increase rice production IP 400. This research was conducted in paddy fields and DevelopmentResearch Institute, Village Market District Leaning Fence Merbau Deli Serdang (30 29 ´51.33 "Nand 980 54´ 19.87" E) with a height of 30 meters above sea level where conducted from February2012 to complete. This research used a randomized block design factorial with six combinations oftreatments and three replications thus obtained eighteen experimental unit. Treatment consists ofV1B0 (Inpari 1 + Without Organic Materials), V1B1 (Inpari 1 + straw compost 9 kg), V1B2 (Inpari 1+ Cow Manure 9 kg), V2B0 (Ciherang + Without Organic Materials), V2B1 (Ciherang + Compoststraw 9 kg), V2B2 (Ciherang + Cow manure 9 kg). The results of this research indicate varieties ofrice IP 400 and composted organic materials that have been able to suppress the air temperature andincrease rice production IP 400, but did not suppress emission rate at 35 days after planting.Keywords: IP 400, cow manure, straw compost, air temperature

Abstract

ABSTRACTThe objective of this research was to study the effect of rice straw compost and the application ofphosphorus fertilizer of SP-36 on chemical characteristic of acid sulphate soils, rice growth andproduction (Oryza sativa L). This research was conducted in greenhouse agricultural departments,Universities Northen Sumatera, Medan. This study used a randomized block design factorial, with2 factors : factor 1 : rice straw compost treatment (J) wich consist of : J0 = 0 ton ha-1(0 g straw/pot); J1 = 10 ton ha-1 (40 g straw/pot); J2 = 20 ton ha-1 (80 g straw /pot); J3 = 30 ton ha-1(120 g straw/pot). Faktor 2 : fertilizer phosphorus (P) which consist of : P0 = 0 kg SP-36 ha-1(0 g SP-36/pot); P1 = 0.5 dose (0.5 x 135 kg/ha), advice equal with 0,27 g SP-36/pot;P2 = 1,0 dose (1 x 135 kg/ha), advice equal with 0,54 g SP-36/pot; P3 = 1.5 dose (1.5 x 135 kg/ha),advice equal with 0,81 g SP-36/pot. This results of the research showed that rice straw composttreatment significantly affected C-organic, Fe2+ reduction, the maximum seedlings, dry weight ofroot. While the application of SP-36 fertilizer significantly affected the maximum seedlings.Combination of rice straw compost and fertilizer SP-36 significantly increased the maximumseedlings.Key words: acidic sulphate soil, straw compost, SP-36, rice

Abstract

P availability in soil is often be the limiting factor on plant growth and production. Phosphatesolubilizing organism is one of alternative to solve this problem. The aim of this study was todetermine the effect of phosphate solubilizing fungi and mycorrhizae and their interaction toincrease P availability and P absorption by Maize on Alkaline Soil . This research was conducted inthe green house, Soil Biology laboratory and Chemical and Soil Fertility Laboratory of FakultasPertanian USU in March-August 2013, used Randomized Block Design (RBD) factorial consistingof 2 factors and 4 replications. The first factor was phosphate solubilizing fungi inoculationconsisting of 2 treatments (with and without inoculation) and the second factor was mycorrhizaeapplication consisting of 3 treatments (0, 10, 20 g/polybag). Parameters observed were soil pH,P-availability, C-organic, plant height, stem diameter, shoot dry weight, root weight, P-absorption,100 seeds dry weight, mycorrhizae infection and phosphate solubilizing fungi population. Theresult showed that phosphate solubilizing fungi inoculation significantly affected phosphatesolubilizing fungi population and not affected others parameters, however it increased plant growthand production. Mycorrhizae application decreased soil pH, stem diameter, and increasedmycorrhizae infection significantly. Mycorrhizae application dose of 10 g mycorrhizae resulted thehighest plant height, shoot dry weight, highest P-absorbtion, 100 seeds dry weight but decreasedC-organic and P availability.Keywords: phosphate solubilizing fungi, mycorrhizae, alkaline soil, maize
