Abstract

Procedural rules of electoral law require the application of the principle of equality in the electoral process. Ironically, The Constitutional Court has created the plurality law on suffrage methods in electoral districts through legalized traditional value of the local society. The problematic appears when its methods could not fulfill the principle of democratic elections and also increase the potency to set the electoral law at deviance, especially in voting stage. Therefore, without any intention to neglect the existence of traditional local cultures, this paper will explain the relevant of plurality of law on suffrage methods to achieve an inclusive election process.Key words: democratic electoral, plurality law, voting methods

Abstract

Abstract

AbstractInternal conflicts and party divisions are complex issues that have been experienced by almost all of big parties in Indonesia during the reform era. Conflict is inevitable even though the Political Party Law has specifically regulated party conflicts and ways to end the conflicts. This qualitative research finds factors that cause the conflict including party ideologies, the institutionalization of personal and oligarchic party leadership, uninstitutionalized party coalitions, the inefectivity of formal legal rules, and a combination of open proportional systems, direct election systems and extreme multiparty systems. Conflict is a problem that has a negative impact on the party because it can disturb party recruitment and its electoral performance. Therefore, the effort to prevent and resolve the conflict is essential. Keywords : Fact, conflict, party politic, institusionalitazion

Abstract

AbstractThe existence of Islamic political party is not just a marker of the arising of plurality politics in this country. But, far beyond it, plurality "Keindonesiaan" means nothing without islam in the plurality itself. Therefore, Islamic political parties remain relevant and needed, not only as a channel for the aspirations and interests of Muslims, but also as part of plurality and "Keindonesiaan". This study results showed that chance of islamic ideology and Islamic political parties in the future depends on how far the Islamic ideology can be presented to answer the problems about "Keindonesiaan" and nationality. The opportunities of Islamic political parties could be figured out from electoral results. But, the more fundamental point is how to improve the quality of the presence and contribution of islamic political parties in practicing democracy more ethically, civilized, and also fair, accountable, and full of integrity.  Keywords: Democracy, Election, Islamic Political Party

Abstract

AbstractThe majority of political parties in Indonesia in the reform era have been trapped in the issue of political personalization. Party elites become the image of the party and become a very influential person in party policy making for a long period of time. In fact, political parties already have a mechanism of succession, but one elite figure is still able to personalize his party. This research sees that there are causes of party personalization, including the history of party establishment, charismatic leadership and party funding. Moreover, presidentialism, party systems, and the electoral system are factors that also facilitate the emergence of party personalization. The party personalization must be avoided because in the long run it will have a negative impact not only on political parties, but also on efforts to uphold democracy in Indonesia. keywords: party politic, reform era, political personalization
