Abstract

Informasi mengenai variabilitas spasial suhu dan klorofil-a permukaan laut memiliki peran penting sebagai sarana pendugaan daerah potensi ikan tuna. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengkaji dan menggambarkan variabilitas suhu dan klorofil-a permukaan laut baik secara spasial maupun temporal di daerah upwelling pada variasi kejadian El Nino Southern Oscilation (ENSO) dan Indian Oscillation Dipole Mode (IOD) di perairan Selatan Jawa hingga Timor. Variabilitas suhu dan klorofil-a permukaan laut dikaji berdasarkan data-data MODIS (Moderate-Resolution Imaging Spektroradiometer) bulanan Level 3 dari satelit Aqua dan Terra. Nilai suhu dan klorofil-a permukaan laut bervariasi menurut waktu (bulan), wilayah (provinsi) dan variasi antar tahunan iklim global (El Niño-IOD(-), El Niño-IOD(+), La Niña-IOD(-) dan  La Niña-IOD(+). Secara umum kisaran suhu permukaan laut (SPL)  di  daerah  upwelling  pada  variasi  ENSO  dan  IOD  berkisar 26,18 -28,35°C  dengan  rerata 27,04±0,93°C. Kisaran klorofil-a sebesar 0,3-0,95 mg/M³ dengan rerata 0,69±0,28mg/M³. Mulai bulan Juni umumnya nilai suhu permukaan laut (SPL) semakin turun dan klorofil-a semakin meningkat hingga mencapai puncak bulan Agustus atau September, kemudian berangsur normal kembali. Nilai suhu permukaan laut terendah  ditemukan berkembang dari timur (Bali) pada bulan Juni bergerak ke barat hingga Jawa Barat di bulan Oktober. Nilai klorofil-a tinggi berkembang sesuai dengan perkembangan suhu terendah, namun nilai klorofil-a tertinggi umumnya bergerak tidak sesuai dengan perkembangan SPL terendah. Klorofil-a tertinggi umumnya terjadi di perairan selatan Provinsi Bali. Jauh dekatnya pergerakan SPL terendah dan klorofil-a tinggi tampak dipengaruhi nilai IOD-nya, semakin besar nilai IOD maka semakin jauh gerakannya ke barat.Kata Kunci : Variabilitas, suhu, klorofil-a, upwelling, perairan selatan Jawa The information of spatial variabilities of sea surface temperature and chlorophyll-a are important for predicting potential fishing ground of tuna. The aims of the reseach are to describe and study the spatial and temporal variabilities of sea surface temperature and chlorophyll-a at  upwelling area  during the variabilities of El Nino Southern Oscilation (ENSO) and Indian Oscillation Dipole Mode (IOD) event  at southern waters of Jawa until Timor Island. They were studied based on monthly MODIS (Moderate-Resolution Imaging Spektroradiometer) data  Level 3 from Aqua and Terra satelite. The values of sea surface temperature and chlorophyll-a are variable in the times (month), areas (province) and annually global climate (El Niño-IOD(-), El Niño-IOD(+), La Niña-IOD(-) dan  La Niña-IOD(+). Commonly range of the seawater surface temperature (SST) at upwelling area on the variabilities of ENSO and IOD are about 26.18-28.35°C with average 27.04±0,93°C, whereas average of chlorophyll-a are about 0.3-0.95 mg/m³ with average 0.69±0,28mg/M³. From June, sea surface temperature starts to decrease but clhorophyl-a is increasing and back to  normal after reaching peak in August or September. The lowest sea surface temperature was found developing from east (Bali) in June and then moving to west until southern west Java  in  October. The development of high chlorophyll-a values are suitable with that of low sea surface temperature. However the development of highest chlorophyll-a generally move inconsistent with that of lowest sea surface temperature. The highest chlorophyll-a generally happen at the southern of Bali Province. The distance movement of the low sea surface temperature and high chlorophyll-a distributions are affected by IOD value, the higher IOD value the further they move to the west. Abstract

Kapoposang area is located in Pangkep Regency consist of six small islands and consist of high marine and fisheries resources, especially the white sandy beaches and coral reefs within its ecosystem. This is an important factor for further development of marine tourism based on conser-vation. Identification of marine tourism resources is the first step in development planning process. Focus Group Discussion (FGD) and survei method was applied in this research. The result show that this area is a potential area to be developed as marine tourism area based on conservation consideration.

Abstract

The research is aimed to reveal opportunity development of the capture fisheries in Talaud Islands Regency by using bionomy approach with Gordon-Schaefer model (Fauzy, 2005) con-cerning the dominant of illegal fishing activities around the area. The research was started by co-llected some secondary data on fish production and number of fishing units. Primary data were collected on catch composition and types of fishing gear. Gordon-Schaefer methods was applied to evaluate the tuna and skipjack resources in the area. The troll and pole and line are indicated as the dominant fishing gears used to catch the skipjack and tuna. In case of open access condition, the production will end up to 25,09 tons, while the resource rent will be end up to zero. For the development, simulations were exercised in 3 scenarios: 1) scenario of enhancing domestic fleet, 2) scenario of illegal fishing, and 3) scenario of net surplus. With those scenarios, if the illegal fishing could be eliminated, the capture fisheries in this regency could render economic value to 10 billion rupiah.

Abstract

Jakarta Bay and its neighbouring waters of Seribu Islands are categorized as fullly exploited water areas which theirs coastal areas accomodate multifunction services. Therefore, it needs precautionary approach to manage fisheries activity in that locations. The objectives of this study are to determine optimum allocation of fishing gears and fisheries development areas based on potential fishing gears in Jakarta Bay. The methods used in this study are Linear Goal Programming (LGP) and Locations Quotient (LQ). The result revealed that the potential fishing gears to be developed were pelagic danish seine, drift gillnet, boat lift net, set bottom long line, portable trap and muroami which have the optimum allocation for each fishing gear; 7 units, 98 units, 23 units, 18 units, 8547 units, and 798 units. The potential fishing gears for pelagic danish seine could be developed in Penjaringan and North Seribu Island Districts; drift gillnet could be developed in Cilincing District; boat lift net could be developed in Penjaringan District; set bottom long line could be developed in Penjaringan District; portable trap could be developed in Cilincing and South Seribu Island Districts while muroami could be developed in Penjaringan and South Seribu Island Districts.

Abstract

Penggunaan polyurethane sebagai bagian dari sistem insulasi pada palka kapal penangkap ikan sudah sangat umum digunakan. Namun demikian takaran yang diaplikasikan masih berdasarkan pengalaman dan perkiraan pembuatnya. Salah satu kriteria teknis adalah densitas material insulasi (ρ). Tujuan penelitian ini adalah mendapatkan  nilai densitas insulasi yang  digunakan pada palka kapal penangkap ikan di Pekalongan. Palka dari dua kapal penangkap ikan dan bahan insulasi polyurethane digunakan sebagai obyek dalam penelitian ini untuk menentukan apakah densitas insulasi yang digunakan sudah memenuhi batas minimum. Nilai densitas standar yang digunakan adalah nilai densitas (ρ) polyurethane > 30 kg.m-3 (Dellino 1997). Hasil penelitian menunjukkan, nilai densitas insulasi yang bervariasi.  Pada kapal 1 densitas berkisar 28,15 kg.m-3-30,86 kg.m-3, sementara itu pada kapal 2 berkisar 31,67 kg.m-3-33,58 kg.m-3. Pada kapal 1 hanya 70% dinding palka memiliki insulasi sesuai dengan standar, sementara pada kapal 2 semua dinding palka memenuhi standar yang digunakan. Abstract

Skipjacks in the western and southern waters of North Maluku Province were caught using pole and line with FADs. Skipjack usually swims near the surface water and  tends to be classified as a juvenile skipjack that caught during fishing activities. The study objective was to analyze biological data of skipjack including length weight  relationship, growth, length at first maturity/lm and catch size, size composition and gonad maturity. Skipjack samples were caught in the waters of the western (zone A) and southern (zone b) areas of North Maluku Province, from April 2012 until May 2013. The sudy results show the value bof  skipjack caught around FADs  at zone A and B were similar as b=3. This indicates that the growth of skipjack in both areas was categorized as in isometric pattern. L?  of skipjack caught at zone A  was 75 cm at the age of 56 months and  at zone B was 76 cm at the age of 56 months. Lm value skipjack caught in zone A and zone B was obtained by 43 cm, with a range of long-forked skipjack caught in zone A from 26.0 to 72.0 cm, and at zone B from 26- to 71 cm , The gonad maturity at zone A and  B, was obtained in  the similar stages as  maturity stages I, II, III,IV, and V. TKG V of the skipjack caught around FADs zone A is found in March and B in July, so it can be presumed skipjack in two zones throughout the year with peak spawning occurs in March for zone A and  B in July.Keywords: Biological base, skipjack, fishery management, North Maluku

Abstract

Capture fishery has an important role in the economic activity and livelihood among the people ofYogyakarta, but its dynamic interaction is not yet effective and still dominated by monopoly practices.This study has analyzed the feasibility and appropriate dynamic interaction for the development ofcapture fishing. The method developed in the study consisted of a cost-benefit analysis and SEM.Catching fish using sero, payang, gillnet, and krendet was found to be feasible and obtain net profits of Rp. 44,291,851, Rp. 91,202,416, Rp 47,585,387, and Rp 56,514,757, respectively. The most significant aspects of interaction determining the environments (internal, external, and industrial), business strategies, fishing industry performance, and development goals were management, social aspect, entry barrier, finance, and feedback period. For the construct interaction, the internal environment had a significant positive effect on the external environment, the external environment had a significant positive effect the industrial environment, and the business strategies had a significant positive effect on the goal of fishery development.

Abstract

Fishing license, as a tool of fisheries management, is one of the popular instrument to control fish resources utilization. The purposes of fishing license for government are : (1) to optimalization of fish resources utilitization; (2) to maintain fish resources sustainability; and (3) to gain the economic benefit as government revenue. As part of fisheries management, fishing license affect to many aspects of fisheries as ecology, economic, technology, social, and ethic. Fishing license for large fisheries scale in Arafura Sea play an important role in Indonesian fisheries as Goverment issued 1072 fishing license or almost 25% of total license issued for all Indonesian waters. Unfortunatelly, Arafura Sea faces many problem and issues like overfishing, IUU fishing, destructive of fish habitat and environment that threaten the sustainability of fisheries. So it’s important to know the sustainability state of Arafura Sea in present to determine the best fishing license policy. The analysis of RAPFISH for sustainability of fisheries (including Leverage and Monte Carlo analysis) by major type of fisheries give some results as : (1) the fisheries of Arafura Sea is sustainable enough with score 53,86; (2) squid jigging, bottom longline, and gillnet fisheries are sustainable enough; but fish net and shrimp net are less sustainable; (3) the ecological dimension is good sustainable with score 72,43; but the ethic dimension is less sustainable with score 37,26. The leverage analysis shows the attributes which give the highest influence to each dimensions as: (1) size of fish on ecology dimension; (2) sector employment on economic dimension; (3) FAD (fish attracting devices) using and gear selectivity on technology dimension; (4) education level on social dimension; and (5) just management on ethic dimension. It’s recommended for Arafura Sea fisheries development to promote the sustainability fishing gears like squid jigging, bottom longline, and gillnet fisheries.

Abstract

Fish Aggregating Device (FAD) usually used by small scale and large scale fishermen in Indonesia are FAD shallow and deep sea water which fix in the water.   Efectivities and eficiency research activity about portable FAD in the water to catch thunnus spp. and skipjack have never been done in Indonesia.  Need the research about portable FAD to catch thunnus spp. and skipjack in the water.  This research can strong National Inovation System with portable FAD to help the fishermen in fishing operation methods. Catching trial around portable FAD by using experimental fishing used troll lines and hand lines.   The purpose of this research are to know the number and composition of fish around portable FAD and to know  stomacth content and plankton in the water.

Abstract

Indonesia has coastal and ocean natural resources which is potential to develop economic and welfare of the nation. Natural resources utilization has to maintain carrying capacity. Development of technology is needed to improve social welfare as well as maintain sustainability of the resource for sustainable utilization. Set net and squid attractor are such a way to develop integrated coastal area in order to empower coastal society. Set net is a fishing gear include in traps. This fishing gear can be developed because it has some advantages compare to another, such as can be integrated with sea farming and sea recreational, also efficient in energy uses. Squid attractor can be developed with aim to enrich squid stock in a certain water as well as to develop alternative livelihood for coastal society.
