Abstract

ABSTRACT Growth and yield response of maize Pioneer 23 on the several compotitions of vermicompost and inorganic fertilizers. Maize is a staple food after rice and has significant impact on the development of industry in Indonesia. Increased maize production is accompanied by the use of inorganic fertilizer. The application of inorganic fertilizer continuously without the use of organic matter results in land degradation. A solution to solve this problem is to use vermicompost which is basically the conversion of organic material by earthworms. The research was conducted to investigate response of the growth and yield of maize Pioneer 23 variety to several compotitions of vermicompost and inorganic fertilizers, using Non factorial Randomized Block Design with 11 treatments, which were P0 (control); P1 (vermicompost 2,5 kg/plot); P2 (N, P, K fertilizer 100 %); P3 (vermicompost 2,5 kg/plot + N, P, K fertilizer 100 %); P4 (vermicompost 2,5 kg/plot + N, P, K fertilizer 75 %); P5 (vermicompost 2,5 kg/plot + N, P, K fertilizer 50 %); P6 (vermicompost 2,5 kg/plot + N, P, K fertilizer 25 %); P7 (vermicompost 2 kg/plot + N, P, K fertilizer 100 %); P8 (vermicompost 2 kg/plot + N, P, K fertilizer 75 %); P9 (vermicompost 2 kg/plot + N, P, K fertilizer 50 %); and P10 (vermicompost 2 kg/plot + N, P, K fertilizer 25 %).The results showed that the several compotitions of vermicompost and inorganic fertilizers had no significant effects on  all parameters, except for the plant diameter and 100 grain weight. Key words: Maize, vermicompost, inorganic fertilizer ABSTRAK Tanggap Pertumbuhan dan Produksi Jagung Pioneer 23 Terhadap Berbagai Komposisi Vermikompos dan Pupuk Anorganik. Jagung merupakan bahan makanan pokok setelah beras dan mempunyai arti penting dalam pengembangan industri di Indonesia. Peningkatan produksi jagung selalu diiringi dengan penggunaan pupuk anorganik. Penggunaan pupuk anorganik secara terus menerus tanpa diimbangi dengan bahan organik mengakibatkan terjadinya degradasi lahan. Solusi yang dapat dilakukan untuk mengatasi masalah ini adalah menggunakan vermikompos dimana vermikompos pada dasarnya merupakan hasil perombakan bahan organik oleh cacing tanah. Penelitian ini dilakukan untuk meneliti pertumbuhan dan produksi jagung varietas Pioneer 23 terhadap berbagai komposisi vermikompos dan pupuk anorganik, yang menggunakan Rancangan Acak Kelompok Non Faktorial dengan 11 perlakuan yang mana P0 (kontrol); P1 (vermikompos 2,5 kg/plot); P2 (pupuk N, P, K 100 %); P3 (vermikompos 2,5 kg/plot + pupuk N, P, K 100 %); P4 (vermikompos 2,5 kg/plot + pupuk N, P, K 75 %); P5 (vermikompos 2,5 kg/plot + pupuk N, P, K 50 %); P6 (vermikompos 2,5 kg/plot + pupuk N, P, K 25 %); P7 (vermikompos 2 kg/plot + pupuk N, P, K 100 %); P8 (vermikompos 2 kg/plot + pupuk N, P, K 75 %); P9 (vermikompos 2 kg/plot + pupuk N, P, K 50 %); dan P10 (vermikompos 2 kg/plot + pupuk N, P, K 25 %). Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa berbagai komposisi vermikompos dan pupuk anorganik berpengaruh tidak nyata dengan semua parameter, kecuali diameter batang dan bobot 100 biji. Abstract

ABSTRACT Tanggap pertumbuhan dan produksi bengkuang terhadap beberapa dosis pupuk kalium dan jarak tanam. Yam is a horticultural plant that has many and high industrial potential. The other alternative to increase yam productivity were application potassium fertilizer and planting distance. The aim of the study was to obtain the right dose of potassium fertilizer and the best planting distance suitable for the growth and yield of yam bean. The study was conducted at Jl. Setia Budi Kelurahan Simpang Selayang Kecamatan Medan Tuntungan at ± 25 metres above sea level from April to August 2012. The factorial randomized block design was used two factors, namely potassium fertilizer (0, 6, 12, 18 g/plot) and planting distance (15x10 cm, 15x15 cm, and 15x20 cm). Parameters observed were plant length, number of primary and secondary branches, tuber’s weight per sample and per plot, tuber’s diameter, root volume and harvest index. Result showed that potassium fertilizer significantly affected root volume, and planting distance significantly affected the numbers of primary and secondary branches, tuber weight per sample, and tuber diameter. There was no significant interaction effect of the two treatments was observed for all parameters. It was conclude that for the land of the study, potassium is not a limitting factor and the best planting distance for yam bean is 15 cm x 10 cm.   Key words : yam, potassium fertilizer, planting distance   ABSTRAK Response of growth and yield of yam to several doses of potassium fertilizer and planting distance. Bengkuang adalah tanaman hortikultura yang mempunyai banyak manfaat dan potensi industri yang tinggi. Upaya peningkatan produksi bengkuang dilakukan antara lain dengan pemberian pupuk kalium dan pengaturan jarak tanam. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mendapatkan dosis pupuk kalium yang tepat dan jarak tanam  yang sesuai untuk pertumbuhan dan produksi bengkuang. Penelitian ini dilaksanakan di lahan masyarakat Jl. Setia Budi, Kelurahan Simpang Selayang Kecamatan Medan Tuntungan dengan ketinggian tempat ± 25 meter di atas permukaan laut pada bulan April sampai Agustus 2012. Penelitian ini menggunakan rancangan acak kelompok faktorial dengan dua faktor yaitu pupuk kalium (0, 3, 6, 9 g/plot) dan jarak tanam (15x10 cm, 15x15 cm, dan 15x20 cm). Parameter yang diamati adalah panjang tanaman, jumlah cabang primer, jumlah cabang primer, bobot umbi per sampel, bobot umbi per plot, lingkar umbi, volume akar, dan indeks panen. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa pupuk kalium berpengaruh nyata terhadap parameter volume akar dan jarak tanam berpengaruh nyata terhadap parameter jumlah cabang primer, jumlah cabang sekunder, bobot umbi per sampel, dan lingkar umbi. Interaksi kedua perlakuan berpengaruh tidak nyata terhadap semua parameter. Disimpulkan bahwa untuk lahan penelitian ini, kalium bukan merupakan faktor pembatas, dan jarak tanam yang terbaik untuk menanam bengkuang adalah 15 cm x 10 cm.   Kata kunci : Bengkuang, pupuk kalium, jarak tanam

Abstract

ABSTRACT Influence of mixing media and dosage NPK (16:16:16) to cocoa (Theobroma cacao L.) in a nursery. Design of the experiment was randomized block design arranged in factorial with two factors. The first factor was planting media, 100% Subsoil Ultisol + 0% EOPB Compost, 75% Subsoil Ultisol + 25% EOPB Compost, 50% Subsoil Ultisol + 50% EOPB Compost, 25% Subsoil Ultisol + 75% EOPB Compost, 0% Subsoil Ultisol + 100% EOPB Compost.. The second factor is NPK Fertilizer (16:16:16), 0 g/polybag, 4 g/polybag, 8 g/polybag, 12 g/polybag. The parameters observed includes plant height (cm), number leafs (sheet), diameter of stem (mm), total of broad leaf (cm2), fresh and dry weight of crown (g) fresh and dry weight of root (g). The result showed that planting media influential significantly on leaf number, total of broad leaf, fresh and dryweight of crown, fresh and of root. Present of manure in fluential significantly on plant height, number of leaves, diameter of stem, total of broad leaf, fresh and  dryweight of crown and freshweight of root. Interaction between planting media and present of fertilizer influential significantly to diameter of stem 6, 8, 10, 12 and 14 weeks after planted and total of broad leaf.   Keywords : Empty Oil Palm Bunch (EOPB) compost, NPK fertilizer, cacao, nursery ABSTRAK Pengaruh campuran media tumbuh dan dosis pupuk NPK (16:16:16) terhadap pertumbuhan kakao (Theobroma cacao  L.) di pembibitan.  Rancangan Penelitian yang digunakan adalah Rancangan Acak Kelompok (RAK) factorial dengan 2 faktor. Faktor pertama adalah media tanam, yaitu  100% Subsoil Ultisol (Bobot) + 0% Pupuk kompos (TKKS), 75% Subsoil Ultisol (Bobot) + 25% Pupuk kompos (TKKS), 50%  Subsoil Ultisol (Bobot) +  50% Pupuk kompos (TKKS), 25% Subsoil Ultisol (Bobot) + 75% Pupuk kompos (TKKS), 0% Subsoil Ultisol (Bobot) + 100% Pupuk kompos (TKKS). Faktor kedua yakni Pemberian pupuk NPK (16:16:16) 0 g/polibag, 4 g/polibeg, 8 g/polibeg, 12 g/polibeg. Peubah amatan yang diamati antara lain tinggi bibit (cm), jumlah daun (helai), diameter batang (mm), total luas daun (cm2), bobot basah dan bobot kering  tajuk (g), serta bobot basah dan bobot kering akar (g).Hasil penelitian menunjukan bahwa perlakuan campuran media tumbuh  (subsoil ultisol + TKKS) berpengaruh nyata terhadap jumlah daun,  total luas daun, bobot basah tajuk, bobot basah akar, dan bobot kering akar. Pemberian pupuk NPK (16:16:16) berpengaruh nyata terhadap tinggi bibit, jumlah daun, total luas daun, bobot basah tajuk, bobot kering tajuk, bobot basah akar, dan bobot kering akar. Abstract

The aimed of this reaserch was to determine the flush interval and consentration of NPK fertilizer which is suitable to the growth and production of mustard (Brassica juncea L.) This research was conducted at green house’s Agricultur faculty University of Sumatera Utara, Medan with a height of 25 metre sea level rise on Februari until April 2012. This research was conducted by factorial randomized block design with two factors such as flush interval (1,2,3 in a day) and NPK fertilizer 0, 2.5, 5, 7. 5, 10 (g/l water). The parameters observed were plant height, the number of leaf, leaf area, the scale of leaf chlorophyll , the weight biomass of plant, The fresh weight of selling, the weight of roots, the root’s length and the harvest indeks. The result of the observations showed that the flush interval had ureal effect to all of the parameters except the root’s weight, while the NPK fertilizer had a real effect to all of the parameters.

Abstract

Effectiveness of different planting distance and number of seedlings per hill on growth and yield ofUpland Rice, supervised by Ir. Asil Barus, MS. and Dr. Dra. Ir Chairani Hanum, MS. The researchwas conducted in the field UPT BBI, at an altitude ± 57 m above sea level in April-July 2012 usingRandomized Block Design (RBD) factorial with two factors which are different planting (20 x 20cm, 20 x 25 cm , 20 x 30 cm) and the number of seedlings (2, 3, 4, 5, 6 seed /hill). The parametersmeasured were plant height, number of tillers, dry weight of the canopy, the canopy destructive dryweight, root dry weight, number of panicle, number of grain hollow, productive grain number, grainweight for each hill, 1000 grain weight and production for each plot. The results showed that allparameters significantly affected by the diiferent planting distance and number of seedlings per hilltreatment plant height, canopy dry weight, root dry weight, number of grain productive, and 1000grain weight.Keywords:

Abstract

This study aims to determine the growth response of ginger (Zingiber officinale Rosc.) On the provision ofshade and some farming techniques. Implemented in the district land Labuhan Deli, Deli Serdang regency inOctober 2011 until March 2012. The study uses a separate plot design (RPT) is played with 2 main plotconsisting of shade and without shade. Sub plot consists of 3 level ie beds, baskets and polybag. The resultsshowed that shade significantly affect plant height MAP (Moon after plant) aged 3 and 4 MAP, number oftillers and number of leaves MAP ages 2 and 4, the distance between the tiller and rhizome wet weight / plantage 4 MAP. Farming techniques significantly affect plant height MAP aged 3 and 4, the number of tillers andnumber of leaves aged 2, 3 and 4 MAP, the distance between two MAP tiller, rhizome weight per plant age 4MAP. Interaction of shade treatment and farming techniques significantly affect the number of chicks aged 3and 4 MAP, number of leaves 2 and 3 MAP, and weight per plant ginger rhizome age 4 MAP. But did notsignificantly affect the number of puppies aged 2 MAP, the number of leaf age 4 MAP, distance anatar tiller 2,3 and 4 MAP and MAP age 4 diameter rods.Key words : ginger, shade, planting techniques

Abstract

Response of growth of deli tobacco (Nicotiana tabaccum (L.)) on some kind of lime and soil typesin North Sumatera. Deli tobacco is variety of tobacco that is used as world top quality wrapper ofcigar . But, in last years production of deli tobacco had been decreasing because of landdegradation. Consequently, it is important to develop deli tobacco plantation to another soil typesthat is combine by giving some kind of lime. The aim of this research was to examine growth ofdeli tobacco (Nicotiana tabaccum (L.)) on some kind of lime and soil types in Noerth Sumatera.The research was conducted in the land of the Research Center of Deli Tobacco (BPTD) SampaliPTPN II, starting from February to May 2012, using a randomized block design (RBD) factorialwith two factors and three replications . The first factor is soil types (alluvial, andosol, hidromorf,ultisol). The second factor is the kind of lime (dolomite, calsit, kaptan). The results showed thatsoil types significantly affect on plant height, diameter of stem, number of leave, thick leaf sand,1 foot thick leaves, long leaves sand, 1 foot long leaves, leaf width sand, and 1 foot wide leaves.Kind of Lime and the interaction between soil and lime is not significantly affect for all parameterobserved.Keywords: soil, lime, Tobacco Deli.

Abstract

ABSRACTShallot is one of the superior spice plants.Nowday, cultivation of shallot is directed for using inputfrom organic matter. Coffea peel compost and liquid organic fertilizer are potential nutrient sourceto use in organic cultivation of shallot. The growth and production of shallot by giving coffee barkcompost and liquid organic fertilizer. This research was proposed to find out effect of growth andproductions respons of shallot as coffee bark compost and liquid organic fertilizer. The researchstarted from october to december 2011. The design use randomized block design factorial with 2aspect. The first aspect is compost bark coffee consist of four stages those were K0 ( 0 g/plant ), K1( 30 g/plant ), K2 ( 60 g/plant ), ( 90 g/plant ). The second factor is liquid organic fertilizer consistfour stages those are P0 ( 0 ml/l water ), P1 ( 3 ml/l water ), P2 ( 6 ml/ l water ), P3 ( 9 ml/l water ).Coffee bark compost given ferform real effect to number of leave per clumb 6 MST, diameter ofbulk and production per plot but not gave any influenced to high of plant, leaves number per sample2 – 5 MST, number bulbs per sample, wet weight per sample and dry weight per sample. Liquidorganic fertilizer given ferform real effect to high of plant per sample 3 – 6 MST, leaves number persample 5 and 6 MST, diameter of bulk per sample and production per plot, but not gave anyinfluenced to high plant 2 MST, leave number per clump 2 – 4 MST, number bulbs per sample, wetweight per sample and dry weight of bulb per sample. Abstract

Response of Giving Liquid Organic Fertilizer and NPK At Biwa Plant (Eriobotrya japonica Lindl.) Inthe Main Nursery. Biwa plant nurseries face constraints in fertilizer recommendation. Thereforethrough liquid organic fertilizer and NPK plant is expected to boost growth in the nursery biwa.Research conducted at the Experiment Berastagi in March - June, 2013, using a factorial randomizedblock design with two factors: the concentration of organic manure (0, 5, 10 ml / L) and NPK fertilizerdoses (0, 5, 10 and 15 g / polybag ). The parameters measured were plant height, stem diameter, crownwidth, of the number of leaves, number of leaf chlorophyle and total leaf area. The results showed thatthe liquid fertilizer oganik significant effect on the amount of leaf chlorophyll but not significant effecton other parameters. NPK fertilizer significant effect on plant height, stem diameter, crown width, of thenumber of leaves, and total leaf area. Their interaction effect was not significant on all variablesobservations. The best results from this study were obtained in the treatment of liquid organic fertilizer10ml / L and 5 g of NPK fertilizer / polybag.Keywords: nursery, organic liquid fertilizer, NPK fertilizer, biwa.

Abstract

The using of chemical fertilizer in soybean cultivation had created negative impact for environment.To decrease of it, the utilization of biological fertilizer in soybean cultivation can increase thegrowth and production of soybean. The objective of the research was to know the growth andproduction of soybean with application of Arbuscular Mycorrhizal Fungi (AMF) and microbeconcortium. This research was conducted at Jalan Setiabudi Kelurahan Simpang SelayangKecamatan Medan Tuntungan on April-July 2013, used factorial randomized block design with twofactors. The first factor was application of AMF (0, 20, 40 g per plant). The second factor wasapplication of microbe concortium (0,5,10,15 g per kg of seed). Parameters observed were plantheight, stem diameter, infection degree of AMF, weight of nodules and number of effectivenodules. The result showed that application of AMF increased plant height 6 weeks after plant(WAP), stem diameter, infection degree of AMF. The application of microbe concortium increasedplant height 6 WAP, stem diameter, infection degree of AMF. Interaction both of treatmentincreased plant height 2 WAP, weight of nodules and number of effective nodules.Keywords : soybean, arbuscular mycorrhizal fungi, microbe concortium
