Abstract

AbstractObjectives: Maternal mortality is one indicator to assess a nation’s health care quality. This research was conducted to determine the determinant risk factors for maternal mortality. Methods: A retrospective case control study at Dr. Mohammad Hoesin General Hospital for 5 years, with 200 samples consists of 50 cases of maternal mortality and 150 physiological labor cases as control group. Results: For 5 years, there was 109 cases of maternal mortaliy. Of the 50 samples of maternal mortality cases, the most common cause were preeclampsia/eclampsia (50%), followed by hemorrhage (28%). The risk factors were categorized as distant, intermediate, and outcome factors, as stated by McCarthy et al. On bivariate analysis, we found the significance on maternal education and husband’s occupation (distant factors), residence, referral status, numbers of ANC visits, first attendant, labor facility and history of prior medical history (intermediate factors), and also modes of delivery and complications (outcome factors). On the multivariate analysis to determine the most contributing risks factors for maternal mortality, it was found that maternal education and residence were the most influencing factors for maternal mortality (OR 5.74 and 4.65 respectively; p=0.001).Conclusions: The most contributing risks factors for maternal mortality were maternal education and residence.[Indones J Obstet Gynecol 2012; 36-1:8-13]Keywords: case control study, maternal mortality, risk factors.

Abstract

AbstractObjective: To compare the effectivity of N-acetylcysteine with Betamethasone in fetal lung maturation. Methods: This research was a double blind randomized clinical trials in women threatened by preterm delivery (28 to 34 weeks of gestation). Results: There were 90 subjects randomly assigned to N-acetylcysteine group (n=30), betamethasone group (n=30), and the control group (who had not been given a tocolytic, n=30). Fetal lung maturation was assessed with the p. The values for lung maturation at random were 5 foams. After being tested with the Tapp, there were significant differences between the 3 groups of this study based on analysis of variance (ANOVA) (p = 0.001). The average foam on theN-acetylcysteine was 4.8 ± 1.3 while in the group Betamethasone, was 3.2 ± 1.0, and the average amount of foam in the control group was 5.5 ± 1.6. The end point of the Tapp were mature and immature, which in the N-acetylcysteine group there were 21 subjects (70.0%) with mature lung, Betamethasone groups 28 subjects (93.3%) with mature lungs, whereas in the control group, there were 15 subjects (50.0%) with mature lung. Conclusion: Betamethasone was more effective than N-acetylcysteine for lung maturation in women threatened with preterm delivery.[Indones J Obstet Gynecol 2013; 37-1: 21-5]Keywords: betamethasone, fetal lung maturation, N-acetylcysteine

Abstract

AbstractObjectives: To determine the cut off point of cervical length using transvaginal ultrasonography to predict the actual occurrence of preterm labor in women with threatened preterm labor. Methods: A cross sectional study with consecutive random sampling method. We examined 80 women with singleton pregnancy complaining of regular, painful uterine contraction and ruptured membrane at 24-36 weeks of gestation. Women in active labor, defined by the presence of cervical dilatation ≥ 3 cm, and having complication were excluded. When the patient was admitted, a transvaginal scan was performed to measure the cervical length. Parenteral magnesium sulfate was given as the subsequent management. The primary outcome was delivery within 24 hours of presentation. Results: We found that the optimal cut off values for cervical length was 2.65 cm with sensitivity 94.4%, specificity 65.4%, positive predictive value 75.4% and negative predictive value 81.8%. In 69 cases, the cervical length was > 2.65 cm, with 52 patients successfully continued their pregnancy until more than 24 hours. In the 11 cases with cervical length ≤ 2.65 cm, delivery within 24 hours occurred in 9 cases (81,8%).Conclusion: The findings of this study suggest that in women with threatened preterm labor, cervical length ≤ 2.65 cm may help predict the actual occurrence of preterm labor. Keywords: cervical length, threatened preterm labor, transvaginal ultrasonography

Abstract

The relational data model approach is still used broadly in developing of data and information storage of the most application systems. The main restricted of using the relational model data das not support dynamically in storing information in which much more semantically of the knowledge must be kept on that data. On other hand, if information intend to be considered more formally concrete knowledge as in reality, its difficult to retrieve the persistent data or information on the various ways of the user need. This paper has researched, analysed, and discussed of data modelling by using an ontology model based approached on constructing the data bank of flight schedule information as knowledge bases model. A protégé ontology software is used to arrange a model of flight schedule information in form of classes hierarchical, slots, and instances. The flight ontology model that has built can indicate much more semantics of flight schedule information. Additionally, the model can be used easily in form of many way of user perception need in order to make queries and results.

Abstract

Background: The prevalence of obesity is increasing globally, both in developed and developing countries including Indonesia. Obesity occurs due to imbalance between energy in take and energy release for a long time as indicated by Body Mass Index (BMI). Someone is categorized as obese if he/she has BMI 95% percentil based on National Center for Health Statistics-Center for Disease Control. Risk factors of obesity are declining physical activity, declining fitness and negative body image. Besides, there are other factors such as genetics, food consumption, knowledge on nutrition and socialeconomic factor. Objective: To identify relationship between physical activity, fitness and body image and obesity among senior high school students at Banda Aceh Municipality. Method: The study was commenced from students screening to find out those who were obese and non obese based on the calculation of BMI. There were 82 obese students as cases and 82 non obese students as controls. Both cases and control had similar characteristics in terms of age, grade and school. The measurement of physical activity was done using International Physical Activity Questionnaire. Fitness was measured through walking/running test as long as 1.609 km, and body image was measured with Body Shape Questionnaire (BSQ). Result: There was relationship between physical activity and obesity (OR = 2, 100, 95% Cl; 1,032-4,272). This indicated that inactive students had risk 2.100 times greater for being obese than active students. There was relationship between fitness and obesity (OR= 2,467, 95% Cl; 1,205-5,051), this showed that unfit students had risk 2.467 times greater forbeing obese than fit students. There was relationship between body image and obesity. Students with BSQ quarter 2 (Q2) to quarter 3 (Q3) (OR = 10,459, 95% Cl; 1,381- 12,552), this indicated students had risk 10.459 times for being obese whereas students with BSQ quarter 4(Q4) (OR= 4, 163, 95% Cl; 1,381-12,552), this indicated students had risk 4.163 greater for being obese. Conclusion: Physical activity, fitness and body image were factor associated with prevalence of obesity among Senior High School students at Banda Aceh Municipality. Key words: physical activity, fitness, body image, obesity

Abstract

According to Article 19 Paragraph (1) of the Law Number 21 of 2008 concerning Sharia Banking, one of the activities of Sharia Banking is to provide financial funding based on musyarakah (profit sharing). The implementation of musyarakah by PT Bank Aceh Syariah in Banda Aceh has been covered up to 85 customers from the period of 2015 to 2017. In musyarakah contract the customers have to fulfil their obligations to pay the payments to the bank. However, the fact shows that the customers could not fulfil their obligations to pay their payments to the bank because they have income problems in running their businesses. From 2015 to 2017 there were seven customers were not well performed musyarakah. This condition has resulted in breach of contract by the customers which is known as non-performing musyarakah funding. This study aims to scrutinize legal consequences arising from non-performing musyarakah funding and identify the efforts taken in the settlement of this problem. This study is an empirical juridical research. Data required for this study were collected through field research by interviewing respondents or informants. The result shows that the legal consequences arising from this non-performing musyarakah funding were pledges or defaults by the customers because they violate the Article 12 of Musyarakah contract. The efforts taken in settling this problem among others are collecting the arrear obligations and handling non-performing musyarakah to the bank’s officer to be analysed based on legal analysis. Therefore, it is advised that the customers should fully fulfil their obligation to pay their payments to the bank based on musyarakah contract. Then, the bank officers are suggested to fully analyse the arrear obligations of the customers based on legal analysis. By doing so it could reduce non-performing musyarakah funding in the future

Abstract

This report was aimed to describe the behavioral changes of catfish as observed before two different earthquakes hit the Province of Aceh, Indonesia in year of 2012. A number of 5 African’s catfish (Clarias gariepinus) were placed in an aquarium located in Gapang, Sukakarya Sub-district of Sabang Town, Aceh. Their behavior activities were observed manually at three different times (08.00 AM, 01.00 PM, and 05.00 PM) every day from 1st March up to 11th April 2012. The result of observation showed that the activity of catfish was different between all of them from 1st March 2012 up to morning observation on 11th April 2012. Most of those activities was not showed as very active behavior. However, their behavior was very active in the same pattern when observed at noon and afternoon times on 11 April 2012. On this date, there were two consecutive earthquakes happened at magnitude of >8 Richter Scale at 03.38 PM and 05.43 PM. The epicenter of this earthquake was in Simeulue, with the distance of more and less of 390 km from observation station of catfish in Gapang. It was noted that this abnormal behavior possibly showed as an indication of their ability to detect the increase of pre-seismic activity at 2.38 hours and 43 minutes before the two earthquakes. Perhaps, it is the result of their response to the increase of pre-seismic electromagnetic wave. Further continuous observation and research is needed to ensure the role of African’s catfish (Clarias gariepinus) as abio-sensor for the increase of seismic activity.
