Abstract

Abstract. Inquiry approach is an approach that stimulates the students to think, to analyze a problem till they find its solution. This approach fostering the skills to see the exact reasons of a problem which the end can be find how to solve it. The science inquiry-based approach is expect to improve the student’s ability of intelectual, psycomotoric, and affect.Thus, this research is devote to the development of the learning materials of science inquiry-based approach on the sub subject of biotechnology in grade 9th. Development of the learning materials refers to the 4-D (four D) model. The resulting product in the development of the learning materials is a students book. This research is using quantitative and qualitative data analyze Based on the result of the research showed that the validation result of the expert validator and user validator were in very valid category with averages value 84,01%. From the result of limited test, the students said the level of readability and difficulty of learning materials by 88,06% an then averages 95,37% students responded positively to the learning materials which developed.   Keywords : Inquiry approach, 4-D model, Learning materials, Biotechnology.

Abstract

Abstract.Guided inquiry is a learning strategy that can improve the intellectual skill, critical thinking, and solve the problem by using scientific method. The purpose of this research is to test the effectiveness of guided inquiry on learning achievement ofcritical thinking and process skills. This research is quasi experiment and uses two classes for the sample, the control class and the experimental class. The learning process in the experimental class usesguided inquiry and the control class uses the conventional method (expository and discussion). Based on the analysis, it can be inferred that the guided inquiry gives significant effect on critical thinking, process skills, psychomotor, and affectiveachievement(p=0.000). Based on effectivenessmeasure by using Gain formula inferred that the experimental class dominant in balance Gain with mean 0,4420% and the control class dominant in low Gain with mean 0,1291%. It concludes the guided inquiry strategy is more effectivethan conventional strategy to improve critical thinking and process skills achievement. Abstract

Abstract. Cosmetics is the preparation of the materials used to support the beauty of women. But not every cosmetic products are safe. Back to nature is the right choice for natural beauty care. Using people are an ethnic that still use herbs as  cosmetic ingredients. This research intended to determine the herbs used as ingredients in cosmetics, methods of utilization and herbs that have potential to be deeper in bioactivity test. Sampling was done by using Purposive Sampling and Snowball Sampling. Collecting  data obtained through interviews Semi-Stuctured using Open-Ended type questions. The results showed that there were 51 species of 29 families that used as cosmetic ingredients. 7 species of plants are based on Use Value and Informant Concencus Factor have potential to be deeper test related  of bioactivity compounds to used as the material of  9 types of beauty treatments. Abstract

Abstract.Role Playing is a kind of gestural games which contains of purposes, rules, and involves the happiness. Role Playing teaching model invites students learning while playing so that students can be motivated in teaching learning process.  The objectives of this research are to improve the result of students’ learning and activities in the classroom. This research is classroom action research that was conducted in two cycles, first cycle and second cycle. This research are expected to give the improvement to the result of students’ learning and activities in the classroom. According to the result of this research, Role Playing teaching model revealed the result of students’ learning and activities. The average of students’ cognitive mark in the class improved from 73,16 to 82,89 while the average of students’ psychomotor mark in the class improved from 74,99 to 82,45. In same line, the average of students’ affective mark from cycle I to cycle II improved from 73,68 to 80,26 while the average of students’ activities mark improved from 69,29 to 74,41.  Therefore, it can be concluded that  Role Playing teaching model can be used as an appropriate model in teaching learning process. Abstract

Abstract : Cooperative learning Two Stay Two Stray (TSTS) is a learning model that allowing the group to share results and information with other groups. Cooperative learning provides an opportunity for students to learn and understand the problem first, then they will be actively involved in discussion groups of 4 people who have different ability, then 2 people will visit another group, 2 people living in the group will share the results of discussions, and guests excused theirself and will match and discuss their work. This learning technique developed by Spencer Kagan (1992), if can be used in all subjects and for all ages of students. This research is a classroom action research (CAR), student activity and student learning outcomes were analyzed using percentage formula. The results of the research showed that the learning activities of students increase from 69,67% in cycle 1 to 80,11% in cycle 2. The results of the percentage formula in cycle 1 showed that the students is inactive, while in cycle 2 showed that the students were classified as active. Furthermore, the students learning outcomes had increased. The students who reached KKM in first cycle is 22 students or 73,33%, while in cycle 2 they were 25 students or 83,33%. The result showed that the student’s outcomes increased 10% from cycle 1 to cycle 2. Key ords: Cooperative learning Two Stay Two Stray (TSTS), learning activity, and learning outcomes

Abstract

ABSTRACT : Cholesterol is a type of fat in the blood , but high concentrations of cholesterol can cause atherosclerosis which will have an impact on coronary heart disease. One of the alternative treatments for lowering blood cholesterol levels are  pomegranate white (Punica granatum). The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of n-hexane extract of pomegranate white to the reduction of blood cholesterol levels in white rats (Rattus norvegicus L.) and the experiment’s result can be used as a supplement book. In this experiment using animals, white rats (Rattus norvegicus L.) male, strain Wistar, aged 3-4 months and weight 150-200 grams, consisting of 6 treatments with 4 repetitions; P1 (ekstract n-hexane 50 µL) , P2 (extract n-hexane 55 µL), P3 (extract n-hexane 60 µL), and P4 (freshly squeezed pomegranate white 1 mL), control (-) with aquadest and control (+) with 0.72 mg simvastatin mg/day. The results showed that extract n-hexane of pomegranate white decreasing blood cholesterol levels of white rats (Rattus norvegicus L.) but not significantly (p = 0.266). From the results of the validation test book supplement, showed that supplement’s book with the title "White Pomegranate-Lowering Cholesterol Without Side Effects" can use for suplement’s book. Abstract

Abstract Alternative education strategies need to be developed to produce superior learners through the provision of care,treatment and educational services based on their talents, interests and abilities. But in fact, learning in SMP Negeri 9Jember is still conventional, where the delivery system is more dominated by teachers. This may result in low activity and student learning outcomes. Therefore, we need a approach education of learning appropriate. One approach to learning that can be used is the approach of Accelerated Learning and Modality Brain. The application of this learning model aims to determine learning activity and the difference learning outcomes with conventional model in SMP Negeri 9Jember. Classroom action research subject is class VIIIB and VIIID SMP Negeri 9 Jember academic year 2012/2013.Based on the analysis results, student learning activities including an active category is equal to 70.24%./ Learningoutcomes better than conventional model while the average student learning outcomes in the cognitive product of 70.68;cognitive processes of 77.26; psychomotor at 82.14, and 78.71 for affective. Abstract

Abstract. Suffer from worms is a chronic and endemic disease caused by parasite worm in high prevalence, not deadly, but gnaw the health of the people therefore decrease the nutrient. Ketepeng cina leaf contains active substances such as saponin which is believed to have anthelmintic power. The objective of this research is to know the anthelmintic power of ketepeeng cina leaf extract (Cassia alata L.) on Ascaris suum by in vitro. This research is a laboratory experimental research with two-factor completely randomized design. The samples are divided into six experimental groups. These groups are negative control which is incubated in physiological salt solution, positive control with pyrantel pamoate solution 1%, and experimental groups in ketepeng cina extract solution with 20%, 40%, 60%, and 80% concentration. The mortalities of the worms are counted in each 3 hours of observation until the limit of observation time. Data analysis is done by using variant analysis (ANAVA) two ways. If there is any difference, it is continued by Duncan Test with confidence level 95% (p<0.05), shapiro-wilk normality test, and Probit analysis by using Minitab 14. According to the probit analysis, LC50 of ketepeng cina leaf extract is 39.98%. LT50 ketepeng cina leaf extract with 40% concentration is 11.33 hour, LT50 ketepeng cina leaf extract with 60% concentration is 8.71 hour, and LT50 ketepeng cina leaf extract with 80% concentration is 3.15 hour, while LT50 pyrantel pamoate 1% is 2.94 hour on Ascaris suum by in vitro. From the experiment, it can be concluded that ketepeng cina leaf extract (Cassia alata L.) has anthelmintic power on Ascaris suum by in vitro Key Words: Ascaris suum, Cassia alata L., extract

Abstract

Abstract. Red ginger rhizome (Alpinia purpurata K Schum) is a plant of the zingeberales tribe used as a biopesticide for the control of plant disturbance organisms (OPT) because they contain essential oils that effective as anti-bacterial and anti- fungal. This study aims to Knowing the potential of rhizome extract, analyze the effective with Red ginger rhizome extracts and Counting disease intensity index (IIP) to growth Hemileia vastartix after a given treatment. The main material used in this study is simplicia red ginger rhizome extracted with 100 ml of distilled water using a solvent, in order to obtain a liquid extract. Liquid extract of the rhizome third in fungi tested as antifungal Hemileia vastartix B. et Br by using the leaf disc method and the concentrations used are red ginger rhizome (6 grams, 7 grams, and 8 grams) with positive control 0.3 % Comparative Nordox and negative control treatment provision Hemileia vastartix. The results showed that red ginger rhizome extract with a concentration of 8 grams have the highest degree of effective in inhibiting the growth of vastartix Hemileia equivalent to 0.3% Nordox comparison indicated from the calculation of IIP (Index Intensity Disease) is equal to 0.00% . Abstract

Abstract. the goal of this research is to know what is the effect of guided inquiry learning by using experiment method to the students achivement score and student activity of eight grade IPA-Biologi students in the topic Human Movement system  SMP Negeri 2 Maesan, Bondowoso. This research type is quasi experiment by using two kinds of different sample. One the experiment class and another control class. The result of this research show the activity students achivement score is 73 for control class, and 83 for experiment class. The average score of cognitive pos-test is 68 control class and 77 experiment class. Another scoring is am effective score in the second meeting is 86 for Control class and 96 for experiment class. The last scoring is psychomotor score in the second meeting, 72 for control class and 81 for experiment class. The conclusion is the guided inquiry learning by using experiment method can improve students achivement score and student activity of eight grade.
