Abstract

The research aimed to determine the effect of Moringa leaves infuse toward the haemoglobin levels of broiler chickens. This study used 21 broiler chickens which divided into three groups and each group consisting of 7 broiler chickens. The treatment group (P0) were given only mineral water (aquadest), the treatment group (P1) were given moringa leaves infuse with a concentration of 10 % and treatment group (P2) infusion were given moringa leaves with a concentration of 20 %. The given of Moringa leaves infuse was starting at seven days old of chickens and given for 28 days continously as a drinking water.  The chickens were feed by ad libitum during the research. After the treatment completion, a researcher carried out a blood sampling via the axillary vein.  Data were analyzed with ANOVA by Complete Random Design one way and Tukey test to determine a difference between the treatments of each group. The research results showed that ± SD haemoglobin (g / dl) in the group (P0) 7.71 ± 1.13, (P1) of 8.15 ± 1.95 and (P2) 10.8 ± 1.76. Statistical analysis showed the treatment effect (P > 0.05) of the haemoglobin levels of broiler chickens. The Tukey test results of the treatment group (P0) were significantly different (P < 0.05) with treatment group (P2), but not significantly different (P > 0.05) with treatment group (P1). The treatment group (P2) were significantly different (P < 0.05) with treatment group (P1). From the results of this research, it was concluded that infuse Moringa leaves can improve haemoglobin levels of broiler chicken.

Abstract

Malaria still cause health problem in tropics including Indonesia, since its generate high mortality rate. Medication of Malaria has been performed long time ago without optimum result. One reason is the high rate of P.falciparum resistance on conventional antimalaria drug. This research aim to evaluate the activity of jaloh leaves extract (Willow leaves) on the inhibition of P.falciparum in vitro.This was a laboratory experimental research that using Indonesian isolates of cloroquin resistance P.falciparum obtained from NAMRU-2, Jakarta. P.falciparum isolate that has been synchronized were divided in to 3 groups of treatment : Jaloh leaves ethanolic extract, jaloh leaves ethyl acetate extract, and jaloh leaves n-hexane extract. Each group were then alloted into 5 dosage levels: 6,25ug/ml; 12,50ug/ml; 25,00ug/ml; 50,00ug/ml; and 100ug/ml. The observation of parasitemia degree were done 48 hours post-incubation in which the thick blood smear were colored with Giemsa and then examined using bioculer microscope. Data were analyzed using one way ANOVA and Newman-Keuls test. The result showed that the percentage of P.falciparum growth inhibition were sinificantly different (P&lt;0.05) among treatments wherein ethanol extract and ethyl acetate extract more inhibit P.falciparum growth than the hexane extract. The administration of different dosage also resulted in significance different (P&lt;0.05) of P.falciparum growth inhibition. This research concludes that jaloh leaves extract could inhibit P.falciparum growth.

Abstract

This study aimed to verify the effect of ethanol extract of jaloh leaves at various doses on parasitemia percentage of in mice (Mus musculus), wich inoculated Plasmodium berghei. This study used 12 male mice (Mus musculus) strains Balb / C with average body weight of 30.2 grams of 2-month-old. This research using Completely Randomized Design (CRD) with four treatments and three replications. All the mice were infected with Plasmodium berghei prior to treatment on three days post infected the mice in group 2,3 and 4 were given with extract ethanol jaloh leaves at dose 50, 100, 150 mg/kgbw inspectively. The mice in group 1 (K0) were not given anything and consident as control.Observations parasitemia percentage using microscopy on preparations stained thin blood smear Giemsa. The parasitemia percentage data were analyzed using one way ANOVA. On the average (±SD) percentage of parasitemia during the three days in four treatments (K0, K1, K2, and K3) on the first day were 24.87±1.86; 24.33±1.53; 24.20±1.06; and 24.93±1.01. On the second day were 22.67±2.52; 23.00±1.00; 22.80±1.20; and 24.13±2.01; and on the third day were 24.77±1.66; 22.97±3.76; 21.13±1.90; and 24.27±1.42. Statistical analysis showed that ethanol extract of the jaloh leaves for KO, KI, KII, and KIV respectively treatment did not affect the percentage of parasitemia in mice (Mus musculus) inoculated Plasmodium berghei.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan mengetahui pengaruh peningkatan suhu terhadap jumlah eritrosit ikan nila. Sampel yang digunakan adalah darah ikan nila yang berasal dari 18 ekor ikan nila dengan bobot badan berkisar 40-50 g. Rancangan penelitian yang digunakan adalah rancangan acaklengkap (RAL) pola searah dengan tiga perlakuan dan enam kali ulangan. Perlakuan P1 sebagai kontrol merupakan perlakuan dengan suhu akuarium 29±1°C, P2 merupakan perlakuan dengan suhu akuarium 32±1°C, dan P3 merupakan perlakuan dengan suhu akuarium 35±1°C. Ukuran akuarium pada masing-masing kelompok perlakuan adalah 80 x 60 x 40 cm dengan ketinggian air 30 cm. Perlakuan dilakukan selama 15hari dan pada hari ke-16 dilakukan pengambilan sampel darah. Darah diambil melalui vena caudalis. Data dianalisis dengan analisis varian(ANAVA) dan dilanjutkan dengan uji Duncan. Rata-rata (±SD) jumlah eritrosit ikan nila (106/mm3) pada P1, P2, dan P3 masing-masing adalah 3,01x106/mm3; 2,63x106/mm3; dan 2,08x106/mm3. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa peningkatan suhu berpengaruh (P<0,05) terhadap jumlaheritrosit ikan nila. Dapat disimpulkan bahwa peningkatan suhu air 32±1°C dan 35±1°C dalam akuarium dapat menurunkan jumlah eritrosit ikan nila.

Abstract

The purpose of this research was to determine the effect of fermented Moringa aloifera Lamk Leaf Flour (FMLF) on the amount of abdominal fat content in broiler chickens (Gallus sp). Twenty eight broiler chickens were randomly design into 4 treatment groups with 7 replications each. The (P0) as control group was given 100% commercial ransom, (P1) was given 95% commercial ransom and 5% FMLF, (P2) was given 92.5% and 7.5% FMLF, and (P3) was given 90% commercial ransom and 10% FMLF. The ransom was given for 23 days. The results showed that the abdominal fat contant of broiler chicken in P1 was significantly higher (P<0,05) than that of P0, P2 and P3 There was no decrease in fat abdominal contant of broiler chicken in P1, P2 and P3 compared to that in P0 control. In conclusion, subtitusion of commercial ransom with FMLF up to 10% did not result in a decrease of abdominal fat content of broiler chickens.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk melihat sebaran sel Goblet pada usus lele lokal (Clarias batrachus). Bagian yang diambil adalah usus proksimal, medial dan distal yang berasal dari tiga ekor lele lokal dan diamati menggunakan metode histologi eksplorasi. Sampel kemudian dibuat menjadi preparat histologi dengan pewarnaan periodic acid-Schiff (PAS)  dan pewarnaan hematoksilin-eosin (HE). Parameter yang diamati adalah jumlah dan sebaran sel Goblet pada usus lele lokal.  Data penghitungan sel Goblet dianalisis menggunakan uji ANOVA dan uji lanjutan Post Hoc. Sel Goblet pada usus lele lokal memperlihatkan perbedaan sangat nyata (p<0,01). Jumlah sel Goblet pada masing-masing bagian usus adalah: usus proksimal 33,67±1,52; usus medial 45,00±2,00; dan usus distal 68,33±5,68. Dari hasil penelitian disimpulkan bahwa jumlah sel-sel Goblet dari arah proksimal ke arah distal semakin banyak dengan sebaran sel Goblet yang jaraknya berdekatan, sehingga terdapat perbedaan jumlah dan sebaran sel Goblet pada bagian-bagian usus lele lokal.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui pengaruh pemberian ekstrak etanol daun jamblang terhadap kadar glukosa darah pada tikus putih diabetes mellitus yang diinduksi Streptozotosin (STZ). Hewan coba yang digunakan adalah 15 ekor tikus putih jantan dengan berat badan 200-250g. Tikus secara acak dibagi menjadi 5 kelompok perlakuan masing-masing terdiri dari 3 ekor. Kelompok control negatif  (KN) tidak diinjeksi STZ dan tidak diberi Ekstrak Etanol Daun Jamblang (EEDJ), kelompok control positif (KP) diinjeksi STZ 40 mg/kg BB dan tidak diberi EEDJ, kelompok P1, P2, dan P3 diinjeksi STZ 40 mg/kg BB dan diberi EEDJ dengan dosis masing-masing 100 mg/kg BB, 150 mg/kg BB dan 200 mg/kg BB. Pemberian EEDJ diberikan secara oral selama 14 hari. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode Rancangan Acak Lengkap pola searah. Hasil analisis varian menunjukkan bahwa perlakuan pemberian EEDJ berpengaruh sangat nyata (P<0,01) terhadap penurunan kadar glukosa darah tikus. Rata-rata kadar glukosa darah tikus kelompok KN (110,33±8,38 mg/dL), KP (448,00±40,33 mg/dL), P1 (100,00±8,34 mg/dL), P2 (103,33±5,68 mg/dL) dan P3 (92,00±6,08 mg/dL). Dari hasil penelitian dapat disimpulkan bahwa pemberian EEDJ dapat menurunkan kadar glukosa darah tikus putih jantan diabetes mellitus yang diinduksi STZ. Dosis EEDJ yang efektif untuk menurunkan kadar glukosa darah adalah 200 mg/kg BB.

Abstract

ABSTRAK Penelitian ini bertujuan mengetahui pengaruh pemberian formalin melalui intraperitoneal terhadap kadar hemoglobin dan jumlah eritrosit pada tikus putih (Rattus norvegicus) strain Wistar. Hewan yang digunakan dalam penilitian ini adalah 24 ekor tikus putih jantan. Rancangan yang digunakan adalah rancangan acak lengkap (RAL) pola searah dengan 4 kelompok perlakuan. Masing-masing kelompok perlakuan terdiri atas enam ekor tikus. Kelompok kontrol tikus hanya diberi pakan dan air minum tanpa perlakuan apapun, kelompok 1 tikus diinjeksi formalin dengan dosis 1 mg/Kg bb, kelompok 2 diinjeksi formalin dengan dosis 2,5 mg/Kg bb, kelompok 3 diinjeksi formalin dengan dosis 5 mg/Kg bb. Masing-masing kelompok diberi perlakuan selama 14 hari berturut-turut secara intraperitoneal. Selama penelitian tikus diberi pakan dan air minum secara adlibitum. Pada hari ke 15, sampel darah diambil melalui sinus orbitalis menggunakan pipet kapiler. Hasil analisis statistik menunjukkan rata-rata (±SD) kadar hemoglobin (g/dl) K0 12,00±0,72, K1 9,63±1,67, K2 9,83±1,30, dan K3 9,76±1,41. Rata-rata (±SD) jumlah eritrosit (106/mm3) K0 7,06±0,78, K1 5,31±1,46, K2  5,35±0,97, dan K3 4,98±0,59. Hasil uji ANOVA menunjukkan kelompok K0 berpengaruh nyata (P<0,05) terhadap kelompok K1, K2, dan K3, sementara kelompok K1, K2, dan K3 tidak berpengaruh nyata (P>0,05) antara kelompok perlakuan. Disimpulkan bahwa pemberian formalin secara intraperitoneal dapat menurunkan kadar hemoglobin dan jumlah eritrosit tikus putih strain Wistar.Kata kunci: formalin, kadar hemoglobin, jumlah eritrosit, Rattus norvegicusABSTRACTThe study aims to determine the effect of formalin administration via intraperitoneal on levels of haemoglobin and the number of erythrocyte in rats (Rattus norvegicus) Wistar strain. Animals used in this study were 24 male rat. The research design was used completely randomized design (CRD) with 4 unidirectional pattern groups treatments. Each group treatment consisted of six rat. Group control rat was given only fed and drinking without any treatment, group 1 rat injected formalin with dosage of  1 mg/Kg bw, group 2 rat  injected formalin with dosage of 2,5 mg/Kg bw, and group 3 rat injected formalin with dosage of 5 mg/Kg bw. Each group was given the specific treatment for 14 consecutive days intraperitoneally. During the study, rat were fed and drinking water in a adlibtum. On day 15, blood sample was taken through orbital sinus using a pipette capillary. The statistical analysis that showed mean (±SD) levels of haemoglobin (g/dl) K0 12,00±0,72, K1 9,63±1,67, K2 9,83±1,30, and K3 9,76±1,4. Mean (±SD) number of erythrocyte (106/mm3) K0 7,06±0,78, K1 5,31±1,46, K2  5,35±0,97, and K3 4,98±0,59. The results of ANOVA showed significant group K0 (P<0,05) against groups K1, K2, and K3, while groups K1, K2, and K3 no significan effect (P>0,05) in between group. It was concluded that the administration of formalin intraperitoneal can lower haemoglobin levels and the number of erythrocyte rats Wistar strain.Keywords:  formalin, haemoglobin levels, number of erythrocyte, Rattus norvegicus

Abstract

Penelitianinibertujuanmengetahuidiferensial leukositbiawak air (Varanussalvator) yang telahdidomestikasi dan biawak air liar. Dalampenelitianinidigunakan 16 ekor biawak air yang dibagi dalam dua kelompok, yaitu8 ekorbiawak airyang didomestikasi (BD) dan 8 ekorbiawak air liar hasiltangkapan (BT).KelompokBDdipeliharaselama60 haridandiberimakananikan, udangdanjangkrik.Untukpembuatanpreparatdarahhapus, darahdiambildari BD padaharike 60, sedangkanuntuk BT pengambilan darah dilakukansaatpenangkapan.Hasil penelitian nilaidiferensial leukositBD sebagai berikut:heterofil 36,7%, basofil 13,0%, limfosit 12,0%,eosinofil 15,3%, monosit 14,0%, dan azurofil 8,8%;sedangkan BTsebagai berikut: heterofil29,3%, basofil16,3%,limfosit 14,1%,eosinofil 9,1%,monosit 17,7% danazurofil 13,2%. Hasil analisis datadenganmenggunakanuji Tmenunjukkanbahwadiferensialleukosit BD tidakberbedanyata (P>0.05) dengan BT. Hasil penelitian ini dapat disimpulkan bahwadiferensial leukosit biawak air yang didomestikasi tidak berbeda dengan biawak air liar.

Abstract

ABSTRAKPenelitian ini bertujuan menghitung jumlah sel darah putih, jumlah sel darah merah, kadar hemoglobin, nilai hematokrit dan jumlah trombosit ikan mujair (Oreochromis mossambicus) yang diberi paparan merkuri klorida (HgCl2). Sampel ikan diambil dari tambak ikan Gampong Cadek, Banda Aceh sebanyak 36 ekor. Rancangan yang digunakan yaitu rancangan acak lengkap pola faktorial 3x4, terdiri dari 4 kelompok perlakuan dengan 3 ulangan. Faktor A (lama perlakuan 10, 20 dan 30 hari) dan faktor B (paparan merkuri klorida 0,00; 0,25; 0,50; dan 0,75 ppm). Ikan sebanyak 9 ekor  dimasukkan ke dalam masing-masing akuarium berisi 100 liter air. Sampel darah diambil pada vena caudalis sebanyak 1 ml dari 3 ekor ikan mujair pada setiap kelompok pada hari ke 10, 20, dan 30. Darah diperiksa dengan menggunakan Hematology Analyzer. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa paparan merkuri klorida tidak mempengaruhi jumlah sel darah putih, jumlah sel darah merah, kadar hemoglobin, nilai hematokrit dan jumlah trombosit ikan mujair. Hasil juga menunjukkan tidak ada pengaruh interaksi antara konsentrasi paparan merkuri klorida dan lama paparan merkuri klorida terhadap profil hematologi. ABSTRACTThe aimed of this study was to calculate the numbers of white blood cells, red blood cells, hemoglobin level, hematocrit proportion and number of platelets of Tilapia fish (Oreochromis mossambicus) that had been exposed to mercury chloride (HgCl2). A total of 36 samples from fish ponds of Gampong Cadek, Banda Aceh. This study was designed by using complete randomized factorial pattern 3x4, which consisted of 4 treatments and 3 replications. Factor A (duration of treatment 10, 20 and 30 days) and factor B (exposured to mercury chloride at 0,00; 0,25; 0,50; and 0,75 ppm). Nine fish were put into every aquarium containing 100 liters of water. Blood sample were taken 1 ml  from vena caudalis from 3 Tilapia fish in each group on day 10, 20, and 30.  Blood examined using Hematology Analyzer. The result of the study indicated that mercury chloride consentration do not affect  the number of white blood cells, red blood cells, hemoglobin level, hematocrit proportion and amount platelets of Tilapia fish. Furthermore, it is also showed  no interaction between concentration of mercury chloride and periode  exposure of mercury chloride to the hematology profile.
