Abstract

At present, it is suspected that students study biology as product and memorize related concepts, theories and laws. Conversely, biology as content or product, process or methods, attitude and technology are rarely applied that makes the subject not as a whole piece and less interesting. Such phenomena challenges the teacher to be more creative and innovative in developing practical learning supports which are simple and easy to be used by both students and teachers. This research aimed at developing worksheets (LKS) for biology subject intended for grade 8 of junior high school students under the topic of photosynthesis employing valid, practical and effective science process skill approach. This study belonged to research and development one. Learning support is developed by means of Four-D (Define, Design, Develop and Disseminate). ‘Disseminate’ is not done. Data collections were conducted by validating and trying out of the learning support. Validations were conducted by six experienced and qualified validators while try out was conducted by applying it to the grade 8 students of SMP Dedikasi Edukasi Kualiva (DEK) Padang to figure out practicality and effectiveness. The study showed that the worksheet using environment-based science process skill approach was in very valid category. Students’ responses toward the worksheet showed positive result with an average response was ≥ 80%. It can be concluded that the worksheet was valid, practical and easy to use.Kata kunci: LKS, keterampilan proses sains

Abstract

This study aimed to analyze the results of student books based on inquiry validation for class VIII Junior High School. Validation was done by 6 validators consisting of three lecturer and three teachers. Data obtained from the questionnaire validation. The questionnaire results were analyzed with descriptive analysis. The analysis showed that the average student book based inquiry validation results were 91.51 with very valid criteria. It can be concluded that the students books based on inquiry can be used to science teaching for students of class VIII Junior High School.

Abstract

The aims of this research are to result valid and practice student texs book bases on inquiry and science literate for junior High School. This research used Plomp Models: a preliminary investi-gation (preliminary research), stage of development or prototype creation stage (development or pro-totyping phase), and the stage of assessment (assessment phase). The subject research were thirty stu-dents from Juniorr High School 12 Padang. Data is primary data collected directly from validation and practicality questionnaires. Data analyze descriptively statistic. The result shows that student texs book have 89,29%, in validity and 86,57% in practicality by teachers and 83,72% in practicality by students. It can conclude that student texs book bases on inquiry and science literate have valid and practice to use in learning.

Abstract

The low science cognitif competency of students is caused by several problem encountered during the learning process, between the learning model that is applied has not involved students actively in the learning process. One of the efforts that is done to increase students' learning competencies in science is to apply the Guided Inquiry learning model assisted by Mind Map. This learning assisted by the Mind Map guides students to be active. This study aims to reveal the influence of the use of the Guided Inquiry learning model assisted by Mind Map to the learning competencies of science students. This research was conducted at SMP Negeri 27 Padang. in material of KD 3.7 about Circulatory System. This research is an experimental research using the Randomized Control Group Posttest Only Design. The study population was all grade VIII students of SMP Negeri 27 Padang. Sampling was taken by using purposive sampling technique. The control class used a conventional learning model which is commonly used in the class and experimental class using the Guided Inquiry learning model assisted by Mind Map. The research instrument used was a test of learning outcomes. The results of the t test were known that in the knowledge competency tcount> t table (2.76> 1.67). This showed that the hypothesis was accepted. So, it can be concluded that the Guided Inquiry learning model assisted by Mind Map has a positive effect on students' learning cognitive competencies in science.

Abstract

The purpose of  this study is produce a product. There is problem solving,s practical guidance for VIII grade in first term on junior high school. This research is developed   by three stages of 4-D models. They are definiton design and development. This research use 4 validators,  they are 2 lecturers and 2 teachers. The subject of this researchis 20 students at VIII grade at  SMP Pertiwi Padang.  The data are primary data and data of  the result. Result of the test is a developed  product the practical guidance base problem solving, aquired, valid and  practical.

Abstract

Kegiatan pengabdian kepada masyarakat ini bertujuan untuk memberikan pemahaman dan perubahan pola hidup kepada masyarakat Kelurahan Subarang Batuang, Kota Payakumbuh agar terhindar dari penyakit metabolik. Hal ini didasari dari permasalahan warga kota Payakumbuh, karena kota ini merupakan salah satu kota kuliner 24 jam di Provinsi Sumatera Barat dengan beraneka makanan khas yang mengandung banyak santan, sehingga memicu tingginya kadar kolesterol dan diikuti oleh penyakit-penyakit metabolik lainnya, seperti diabetes dan asam urat. Oleh sebab itu, telah dilaksanakan kegiatan pengabdian kepada masyarakat di kota Payakumbuh, khususnya di Kelurahan Subarang Batuang sesuai dengan permintaan warganya. Pada kegiatan pengabdian ini telah dilakukan pemeriksaan darah di laboratorium klinik Sukma Bunda sehubungan dengan penyakit metabolik yang sering dijumpai pada masyarakat, yaitu: pemeriksaan gula darah, kolesterol dan asam urat, sebagai gambaran awal bagi masyarakat tentang kondisi kesehatan metaboliknya pada 30 orang peserta. Selanjutnya diberikan penyuluhan dari dokter kepada masyarakat tentang pentingnya menjaga kesehatan metabolik. Selain itu, peserta juga dilatih untuk membuat obat-obatan herbal untuk mencegah dan mengobati penyakit metabolik. Berdasarkan evaluasi kegiatan yang telah dilaksanakan, diketahui bahwa kegiatan ini telah berhasil dengan sangat baik memberikan kesadaran dan pemahaman kepada warga tentang pentingnya menjaga kesehatan metabolik. Peserta juga menyarankan agar kegiatan sejenis dapat dilakukan secara berkelanjutan dan juga disosialisasikan di tempat-tempat lainnya kepada masyarakat dengan tingkat usia yang lebih rendah, agar penyakit metabolik dapat dicegah lebih dini.
