Abstract

Objectives of this study are to determine the genetic variability among progeny of intraspecific crossing between three strains of Oreochromis niloticus Bleeker (BEST, Nirwana, and Red NIFI) using Randomly Amplified Polymorphic DNA (RAPD) and truss morphometric. The results showed that hybridization enabled to increase genetic variability respectedly on progeny of Nirwana male crossed to BEST female (27,93%) as well as to Red NIFI female. An analysist of truss morphometric indicated that BEST population had the lowest similarity and largest genetic distance (0,6) to the Nirwana and Red NIFI which were closer to the hybrid populations.

Abstract

Identification of Gouramy is required to obtain phenotype characteristics information of the population for sustainable aquaculture  practices. In this study phenotype diversity of giant gouramy strain bastar and bluesafir was analyzed based on  meristic and morphometric measurement. Sample, are taken from 30 individuals of each population. The result showed that there were differences in colour patterns between the two populations, bastar population had yellowish brown body and red fins, whilst bluesafir population had brown blackish brown body and fins. The canonical function of truss morphometric analysis on 21 characteristics showed the measurement distribution of that both populations were in different quadrants. The intrapopulation similarity index showed that population of strain bluesafir had higher genetic similarity (80%) with interpopulation similarity index of 23.3%, while the intrapopulation similarity index of strain bastar was 76.7%.

Abstract

The objective of the present study was to obtain good populations of Oreochromis niloticus based on their growth performances. Four populations, i.e GIFT-6, Tempe, Local, and GIFT-3 were used in this study. Sixteen 16 cages laid in four earthen ponds in the Cijeruk Research Installation, Bogor, were used as replication. The results showed that there were no significant difference among four populations for biomass, but a significant difference among populations was observed on length parameter (F < 0.01),in which the local population was the best.

Abstract

Research to find out the effect of oral administration of estradiol 17-β  on feminization of Oreochromis sp. (GIFT) fry was carried out at Cibalagung Research Station. Five different concentrations of estradiol 17-β  i.e.: 60, 80, 100, 120 and 0 mg/kg feed, were given to larvae of 6 days old twice a day for 21 days in triplicates. The result indicated that there was significant difference of average percentage of female between control and treatments.The highest percentage of female was obtained from fish treated with 100 mg estradiol /kg feed (86.6%), whereas the lowest was obtained from fish control (51.7%). The survival rate and length growth were not significantly different. Survival rate of larvae ranged from 94 to 97.7% and the average of length growth ranged from 10.08 to 13.32 mm.

Abstract

Objectives of the study was to discover genetic variability and genetic relationship of paternal half sib population of nile tilapia (Oreochromis niloticus) under Selection Program Scheme at Research Institute for Freshwater Aquaculture, in Bogor, West Java.Four populations from unrelated selected breeders were observed for genetic variability using RAPD. The analysis of amplification from each locus and fragments were used to estimate DNA polymorphisms, heterozygosity, fst and genetic distance.The range of heterozygosity of four examined populations was 0.1760-0.2168 with level polymorphic between 47.66% and 64.86%.The highest heterozygosity and polymorphic was on population 1 and the lowest one was on population 2. Fst test showed significance among the populations. The closest relationship was between population 1 and 4 (0.1978) and the furthest was population 2 and 3 (0.3289).

Abstract

Analysis Genetic Variation of Three Strains of Red Tilapia by Anova of RAPD.          Study on the genetic variance of three strains of red tilapia (Oreochromis sp) had been conducted in the Biology Molecular Laboratory, Research Institute for Freshwater Aquaculture (RIFA) Bogor.  Three different strains, Red NIFI from Thailand,  Red Tilapia from Lido lake and Red Tilapia from Bogor?s farmer were analyzed in the study.  Observation used Random Amplified Polymorphism DNA (RAPD) with OPA-03, OPA-04, OPC 14 and OPC-15 primers.  The results showed that only OPA-03 primer was able to amplify numerous samples.  Further analysis showed that the percentage of polimorphic range was between 16.67 ? 38.89%, heterozygosity value 0.0378 ? 0.1536 and genetic distance among strain 0.3051 ? 0.6037.Keywords : RAPD, genetic, strain, nile tilapia, oreochromis ABSTRAK           Penelitian mengenai variasi genetik tiga strain nila merah dari 3 lokasi yang berbeda telah dilakukan di Laboratorium Molekuler Biologi, Balai Riset Perikanan Budidaya Air Tawar (BRPBAT) Bogor.  Strain yang diamati meliputi jenis nila Red NIFI dari Thailand, nila merah dari Danau Lido dan nila merah dari Petani Bogor. Penelitian menggunakan metode analisis Random Amplified Polymorphism DNA (RAPD), dengan menggunakan primer OPA-03, OPA-04, OPC-14 dan OPC-15.  Hasil pengamatan menunjukkan hanya OPA-03 yang dapat menghasilkan amplifikasi dalam jumlah sampel yang memadai.  Hasil analisis menunjukkan bahwa persentase polimorfik berkisar antara 20.00-40.00%, dengan nilai heterozigositas 0.0604?0.1516 dan jarak genetik antar strain 0.1770-0.4865.  Kata kunci : RAPD, genetik, strain, ikan nila, oreochromis

Abstract

Superior Fish Production in Intensive Paddy Cum Fish Culture         Aquaculture development in Indonesia is expected to push forward the fish farmers entrepreneurship and competitiveness of aquaculture products in a sustainable manner through improved efficiency and cooperative advantages. Development of fisheries resources in accordance with the management and the optimal use or to provide added value of the fish itself also to provide other products. One technology that can be used is through technology in paddy cum fish culture. This study aimed to improve of land productivity through superior tilapia production in paddy cum fish culture system. In general, the best results obtained in treatment A (no treatment). Productivity of rice and fish could be enhanced by applying paddy cum fish culture  system by 4 to 5.5 million or 10-15% per hectare rice field.Keywords: Minapadi, Productivity, Nila, Fertilizer ABSTRAK          Pengembangan perikanan budidaya di Indonesia ke depan diharapkan dapat  mendorong masyarakat perikanan/pembudidaya untuk meningkatkan jiwa kewirausahaan dan daya saing produk perikanan budidaya secara berkelanjutan melalui peningkatan efisiensi dan keunggulan koperatif. Pengembangan sumber daya perikanan yang sesuai dengan pengelolaan dan pemanfaatan yang optimal dan dapat memberikan nilai tambah selain dari ikannya itu sendiri juga produk lainnya. Salah satu teknologi yang dapat digunakan yaitu melalui teknologi minapadi. Penelitian ini bertujuan untukmeningkatkan produktivitas lahan melalui produksi ikan nila unggul dalam sistem minapadi. secara umum, hasil terbaik diperoleh pada perlakuan A (tanpa perlakuan). Dari hasil penelitian, didapatkan kesimpulan bahwa Ikan nila lebih baik pertumbuhannya dibanding mas.Secara umum hasil terbaik diperoleh dari lahan kontrol atau tanpa perlakuan. Produktivitas padi dan ikan dapat ditingkatkan dengan menerapkan sistem minapadi senilai 4-5,5 juta atau 10-15% tiap hektar sawah.Kata kunci : minapadi, produktifitas, Nila, pupuk

Abstract

Ikan tambakan merupakan salah satu komoditas air tawar yang cukup digemari oleh masyarakat. Namun, pemeliharaan ikan tambakan dalam waah terkontrol belum banyak dilakukan sehingga informasi mengenai suhu optimum inkubasi masih terbatas. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui pengaruh perbedaan suhu inkubasi terhadap perkembangan embrio, lama waktu penetasan, hatching rate dan survival rate, penggunaan kuning telur, dan abnormalitas larva ikan tambakan. Penelitian ini dilaksanakan pada bulan Juli-September 2015 di Instalasi Plasma Nutfah Perikanan Air Tawar Cijeruk, BPPBAT Bogor, Jawa Barat. Penelitian ini menggunakan Rancangan Acak Lengkap (RAL) dengan 4 perlakuan (kontrol (24-260C), suhu 26-280C, suhu 29-310C dan suhu 32-340C) dan 3 kali ulangan. Hasil penelitian dianalisis menggunakan uji F. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa perlakuan perbedaan suhu inkubasi berpengaruh terhadap perkembangan embrio, lama waktu penetasan, hatching rate dan survival rate, laju penyerapan dan lama waktu penyerapan kuning telur, serta tidak berpengaruh terhadap nilai abnormalitas larva ikan tambakan. Perlakuan terbaik untuk perkembangan embrio adalah pada suhu 26-280C, untuk lama waktu penetasan pada suhu 29-310C, untuk hatching rate pada suhu 26-280C, untuk survival rate pada perlakuan kontrol (24-260C), dan untuk laju penyerapan kuning telur, dan lama waktu penyerapan kuning telur pada suhu pada suhu 26-280C.

Abstract

Barb (Barbonymus balleroides) considerably has economic potential as aquaculture commodity. However, there was still lack of development on aquaculture for this species. This study was conducted to observe the effect of different stocking density on growth of barb. The fish (body weight: 14.89 ± 0.13 g) were stocked in nine floating nets (dimension: 2 m x 2 m x 1 m) inside the concrete ponds with three stocking density treatments (10, 15, and 20 fish/m3). Each treatment consisted of three replications. Fish were fed on commercial pellet (30% of crude protein) as much as 3% of the biomass per day with twice a day of feeding frequency. Data of growth performances (body weight, specific growth rate, average daily growth, biomass, food conversion ratio, and survival rate) were collected every 30 days during 90 days of rearing period. Water quality variables (temperature, pH, and dissolved oxygen) were observed during experiment. The results showed that the optimal stocking density for the growth of barb was 10 fish/m3. Best value of food conversion ratio was found 10 fish/m3 compared with 15 and 20 fish/m3 (P&lt;0.05). Meanwhile, there were no significant differences on survival rate between treatments. These results also showed the potential of rearing barb on culture ponds with appropriate stocking density.
