Abstract

Environment quality has been worsening year by year; and building’s sector contributes 66% of fossil fuels pollution’s sources. The technique in building constructions needs to changing in order to increase environmental friendly manner. Indigenous people, such as the Inner Baduy community, from longstanding experience have developed systems as their local wisdoms adapting to its environment and houses in a sustainable manner. The objective of this study is to emphasize the importance of traditional knowledge in terms of providing low input energy buildings and settlement. A reconstruction of the Inner Baduy house has been drawn as a documentation of an Indonesian traditional house building in a tropical humid climate. The reconstruction is presented in a form of a technical drawings such as plan, view and section  drawing by using SkecthUp computer program. Baduy local wisdom of community is significant  in houseing structure development process. Indications by all the structure materials is taken from local sources such as rumbia roof and bamboo’s wall are taken from leuweung lembur and bantaran sungai. Development system’s local wisdom also very economic and efficient using pre-fabrication system. Key  words:  ecological design, environmental friendly, traditional building, sustainable construction

Abstract

Land  cover  changes will affect the ecological condition of  the watershed.  Currently, the  conversion of  natural forests into agricultural land has been one of  the main  causes of  deforestation  in  Indonesia. The  changes  could  give impact to  erosion,  increased  run off  and  sedimentation,  loss of  biodiversity,  change of micro  climate,  the release of carbon and Green House Gas (GHG) into the air, etc. This problem has been going on in Watershed Ciliwung.  Forest area, as sources of carbon deposits and carbon absorbents, has limited area along with increasing extents of build up areas. Therefore, it’s estimated the ecological changes will be extended, then will affect the amount of carbon  stocks in Watershed Ciliwung. The objectives of research are  to determine  land cover changes during  the  last twenty years,  to analyze actual carbon stocks in watershed Ciliwung, and to analyze the effect of land cover changes in over twenty years of greenhouse gases, especially CO2. This research used three samples plot on each of the existing land cover. Biomass approach was used in order to estimate carbon stock. Changes in carbon stocks were calculated by using interpolation based on  the actual  carbon  stocks  in 2011. The  research  results  showed  that build up areas was  increased  153,36% during twenty years. The highest potencial carbon stocks was  found in pines forests, which is 144,99 tons/ha. Over the last twenty years, carbon stocks in watershed Ciliwung is declined 42.329,75 tons carbon or 155.350,182 tons CO2e.

Abstract

Nowadays human settlements are using a large amount of fossil fuels and natural resources that produce pollutions. Environment quality is degrading each year causing many disaster occurring all over the world including Indonesia. Today settlements are continuously being built by new technologies which is advanced in techniques and materials, but lack of environmental consideration. Societies who are concerning in environmental degradation can lead to the unsustainable living in the world has developed a community called Global Ecovillage Network (GEN). GEN concluded that to save the world from an extinction people, way of live need to be changed in a more environmentally friendly manner. This way of live is popularly known as ecovillage. People need to  be more economic, efficient and live harmoniously with all organism in the nature. Global Ecovillage Network (GEN) has developed a tool called Community Sustainability Assessment (CSA) which defined level and ways to be more sustainable in a community.Indigenous people, The Inner Baduy community as an indigenous people, is well known since 16th century and still exists until now. They have developed systems from their longstanding experience as their local wisdoms than can adapt to their environment in a sustainable manner.The aim of this study is to emphasize the importance of traditional knowledge in terms of providing low input energy, water and wastes to the natural resources in a settlement scale. The study results are concept and level of sustainability of Inner Baduy community based on CSA.

Abstract

Kerinci Lake tourism area is located in Kerinci Seblat National Park area, consists of swamp and lake areas that maintain its beauty and natural ecosystem. This research was conducted to study and to analyze the existing condition of Kerinci Lake tourism area and to arrange the development and managementplan of this area. This research used survey method. The result of this research wasa development and management recommendation, consisted of space concept and siteplan according to the nature preservation, conservation and convenience so that  the potency can be used spreadly according to the environmental and cultural value of Kerinci District.The recommended development and management plan is  spatial zoning, such as intensive recreation zone, semi-intensive recreation zone, passive recreation zone, conservation zone and circulation zone. The zoning  includes a space arrangement to confined the recreation activity based to the confined source of activity’s capacity and the visit intensity. It also puts some attentions to the planing and confined development rules in Kerinci District. The next zoning is the management zoning such as intensive management zone, semi-intensive management zone, and non intensive management zone. This zoning based on thelevel and amount of the visitors, the activity level, visit duration and the damage (vandal) level in a recreation site.

Abstract

The objective of the research was to study the impact of agro-tourism on production of tea bud. The experiment was conducted at Gunung Mas Tea Plantation, Bogor, from June 2004 to March 2005. Blocks 3, 5, 8, 10 and 17 at Gunung Mas I afdeling represented area with agro-tourism activity and blocks 3, 7, and 10 at South Cikopo I afdeling represented area without agro-tourism activity. Site selection was based on plant variety, age of cutting, tea walk track (0, 4, 6, and 10 km), and elevation height (800, 900, and 1000 m above sea level). The result shows that agro-tourism activity decreases production of tea bud. When the number of visitors increased, production of tea bud decreased because the pluckers were absent during the plucking time. The positive impacts of agro-tourism are improvement in plantation management, especially in productive plants, and existing additional income. Gunung Mas Tea Plantation especially Gunung Mas I afdeling which runs agro-tourism should limit the number of visitors and there must be a cross subsidy from agro-tourism to agro-industry sectors.   Key words :  Agro-tourism, productivity of tea shoots, afdeling, plucking.

Abstract

The objective of the research is to analyzethe relationship patterns of green open space availability with temperatures in Palu city. The research methods are data extraction and mathematical analysis. Some research resultswere gained, i.e. (1) during 13 years from 1997 up to 2010 is  found that the greenery open spaces were decreased from 48,86 % to 29,48 %; (2) the decreasing the greenery open spaces is known will increase the maximum of air temperatur, significantly;(3) The ideal percentage of urban forest at Palu City is 18 648 ha (47%) of the wide of Palu city. The aim of this study is to emphasize the importance of traditional knowledge in terms of providing environmental friendly buildings and the existence of documentation as a knowledge base of an Indonesian traditional settlement in a hot humid climate’s mode. The study results are reconstructions on, building design will be presented in technical drawings and drawn with Sketch up computer program. Keywords: Baduy, design, ecohouse, local wisdom Abstrak Sektor bangunan menyumbang 66% dari sumber polusi bahan bakar fosil yang akan berdampak pada memburuknya kualitas lingkungan. Teknik konstruksi bangunan perlu diubah dengan cara yang lebih ramah lingkungan. Meskipun kemajuan dalam teknologi pembangunan berkembang pesat, dan  bangunan yang terus menerus dibangun  akan tetapi dalam penggunaan teknik dan material bangunan tidak mempertimbangkan kerusakan iklim yang ditimbulkan. Masyarakat adat, seperti masyarakat Baduy Dalam telah berpengalaman sejak lama dalam konservasi lingkungan yang dilaksanakan sebagai kearifan lokal mereka termasuk dalam pembangunan konstruksi rumah. Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah 1) untuk mengevaluasi dan mendapatkan  pengetahuan dalam bangunan tradisional dan 2) Mendokumentasikan konsep bangunan tradisional Indonesia sebagai dasar dalam pembangunan pada  wilayah beriklim panas lembab. Hasil penelitian ini bangunan di Baduy Dalam merupakan bangunan yang berkelanjutan. Bangunan ini direkonstruksi dan disajikan dalam gambar teknik yang digambar dengan program komputer Sketchup 2008. Abstract

Meningkatnya persoalan lingkungan, seperti polusi udara dan peningkatan suhu di DKI Jakarta menyebabkan keberadaan hutan kota sangat penting. Pohon memiliki peran penting karena berfungsi sebagai penyimpan karbon dan penyerap karbon paling efesien di perkotaan. Hutan kota di DKI Jakarta memiliki persoalan dalam pengembangannya, selain aspek teknis juga dipengaruhi oleh aspek kebijakan hutan kota. Oleh karena itu perlu dilakukan penelitian ini dengan tujuan: (1) menganalisis cadangan karbon, nilai serapan CO , dan jenis pohon hutan kota yang memiliki cadangan karbon potensial, dan (2) menganalisis faktor kebijakan yang perlu mendukung pengembangan hutan kota. Penelitian dilakukan di DKI Jakarta dengan fokus pada tiga hutan kota, yaitu hutan kota Universitas Indonesia, Srengseng dan PT JIEP. Analisis cadangan karbon dilakukan melalui pendekatan allometrik dan analisis faktor kebijakan hutan kota dengan pendekatan (AHP). Jumlah cadangan karbon pohon terbesar terdapat pada hutan UI yaitu 178,82 ton/ha, Srengseng 24,04 ton/ha dan PT JIEP 23,64 ton/ha. Nilai serapan CO terbesar dihasilkan dari hutan kota UI yaitu 634,40 ton/ha, Srengseng 88,15 ton/ha dan PT JIEP 86,76 ton/ha. Sumbangan cadangan karbon pohon terbesar dihasilkan dari pohon famili Fabaceae, antara lain yaitu A. Cun Ex Benth Willd Boj. Ex Hook Willd dan Prioritas kebijakan yang mendukung pengembangan hutan kota pada level faktor adalah peningkatan kualitas hutan kota, level aktor adalah pemerintah dan level alternatif adalah evaluasi peraturan dan perluasan hutan kota.
