Abstract

The purpose of this research was to determine whether the ability of mathematical connections with students through contextual teaching and learning REACT strategy is better than the ability of students to learn mathematical connection with conventional learning. This research is a quasi-experimental design with a randomized control group design only. Research procedures can be divided into three phases: preparation, implementation phase and the completion phase. The research instrument used is the mathematical connection ability tests. The hypothesis was tested with the help of MINITAB using one-way t-test. The conclusion of this study is the ability of students in the application of mathematical connections contextual teaching and learning with REACT strategy is better than the ability of mathematical connections in the control classes. Key words: contextual teaching and learning with REACT strategy, the ability of mathematical connections

Abstract

This research is aimed to produce math lesson plan by using performance strategy as teaching strategy and fulfill characterized lesson plan which is valid and practical to be used in the field. This research is developmental research that uses modification type 4-D several steps define, design, and develop (disseminate is discarded). Collecting the data in this research was done by validating through several experts and discussion, interview, questionnaire, and observation. Technique of data analysis in this research is descriptive statistics. Result of the research showed that lesson plan that has been revised fulfilled valid criteria. Interview and answering questionnaire showed that the lesson plan is practical to be used. In conclusion, validity and practicality of the lesson plan was achieved.Kata kunci: lesson plan, performance strategy, character

Abstract

This research aim to know whether ability of mathematical conceptual understanding student which get a treatment model problem solving learning higher than which get a treatment conventional learning at VII grade in SMPN 1 Batusangkar. This kind of research is a quasi experiment with device is Randomized Control Group Only Design. Data ability of mathematical conceptual understanding obtained from final test. Hypothesis tested with MINITAB Program one way t-test. The result of this research is ability of mathematical conceptual understanding student mean experiment class 78.76, control class 68.35. Hypothesis test P-value = 0.0000, so that hypothesis this research accepted. Concluding that ability of mathematical conceptual understanding student which get a treatment model problem solving learning higher than which get a treatment conventional learning.Key words: Model Problem Solving learning, ability of mathematical conceptual understanding

Abstract

This research was aimed at developing valid lesson plans and metacognition-based self evaluation in Statistika Elementer subject. Learning strategies that encouraged students’ metacognition were problem-based learning and think pair share. This research employed Research and Development design. There were two main stages in this research: need analysis and prototype design. Need analysis was began with interviewing colleague, analyzing syllabus and lesson plans, analyzing students’ characteristics, analyzing lesson plan literature, self evaluation and metacognition. Prototype design referred to need analysis. Three experts recommended that lesson plans and self evaluation were valid both in terms content and construct.

Abstract

Goverment will about the implementation of character education needs for appropriateness of ‘Kurikulum Tingkat Satuan Pendidikan’ (KTSP) in form of modification of learning tools at all subjects. Mathematics as one of many general subjects, for example, needs to integrate character values in order to have good characters. Therefore, it is better to explore preparation, implementation, evaluation, and all teachers’ difficulties in implementing character education in teaching Math at junior high school. Through descriptive qualitative research, this study had been successful to show a fact about the information that was relevant with the implementation.Kata kunci: pendidikan karakter, pembelajaran matematika

Abstract

This article aims to analyze the strategies and cognitive process of prospective mathematics teachers (PMTs) in constructing graphs of composition function. Forty-four PMTs participated in graph construction tasks (GCT) of composition function. Four of them were purposively selected as the subjects. Data were collected through subjects' works on GCT and interviews based on their works. Data analysis started with organizing subjects' construction of the graph and transcribing the results of the interview. We then explored and coded the subjects' constructed graphs, followed by describing the subjects' strategies and structure of the cognitive process of graph construction and establishing themes, representing and reporting the findings with tables, schemes and narratives, interpreting the findings, and validating the accuracy of the findings by triangulation of the data sources. We found (1) two strategies used by the subjects in constructing graph namely with-translationand without-translation;and (2) the translation process in constructing the graphs begins by unpacking the source representation, preliminary coordination, constructing the target representation and end with determining the equivalence between the source representation and the target representation. The findings indicate that there are transfer variations in conceptual content from micro-concepts of source representation to micro-concepts of targetrepresentation. The variations are caused by the differences in the types of mapping carried out at the initial coordination stage. Artikel ini bertujuan menganalisis strategi dan proses kognitif mahasiswa calon guru matematika dalam mengonstruksi grafik fungsi komposisi. Empat puluh empat calon guru menyelesaikan tugas konstruksi grafik (GCT) fungsi komposisi kemudian empat orang dipilih sebagai subjek. Data penelitian dikumpulkan melalui hasil kerja subjek pada GCT dan wawancara berdasarkan hasil kerja. Analisis data dimulai dengan mengelompokkan hasil konstruksi grafik oleh subjek dan membuat transkrip wawancara.  Peneliti kemudian mengeksplorasi dan membuat kode hasil konstruksi grafik, menjelaskan strategi dan struktur proses kognitif subjek dalam mengonstruksi grafik, membuat tema berdasarkan strategi dan proses kognitif. Selanjutnya, peneliti menggunakan tabel, skema dan narasi untuk menampilkan dan melaporkan temuan penelitian, menafsirkan temuan penelitian dan melakukan validasi hasil penelitian dengan triangulasi sumber data. Kami menemukan (1) dua strategi yang digunakan oleh subjek dalam membangun grafik yaitu dengan-translasi dan tanpa-translasi; dan (2) proses translasi dalam mengonstruksi grafik dimulai dengan membongkarrepresentasi sumber, koordinasi awal, membangun representasi target dan diakhiri dengan menentukan kesetaraan antara representasi sumber dan representasi target. Temuan menunjukkan bahwaada variasi transfer dalam konten konseptual dari mikro konsep representasi sumber ke mikro konsep representasi target. Variasi disebabkan oleh perbedaan dalam jenis pemetaan yang dilakukan pada tahap koordinasi awal.
